One of the best VSP providers around…read more I really enjoyed our experience with Aloha Family Optometry. Everyone was very kind, patient and welcoming. They handled my youngest child with a lot of patience and care and didn't even make us feel bad about it. They have a wide range of frames - they also had my preferred brand (ray ban). They also had a lot of nice options around lenses. I have super sensitive eyes and my prescription is thick. It was nice that I could get high index anti-glare lenses with protective anti-blue light coating. This is the bare minimum I need otherwise I can't drive at night. They also offer transitions on-top of that too, which was also cool. One of the best VSP supported options out there. The doctors were super nice and very thorough in the examination. To ensure that I'm providing an honest review, I do have to say that they offer you a lot of upsells around various types of tests. For me, I didn't mind it, because I have bad eyes and I want to make sure they are in good health. I usually opt-in for these additional services anyways (like retina imaging, et..). If you don't want these services, you can decline. I understand why they do it. It's partly to be helpful, but also, as a small practice, they are unable to process as many patients as large chains and are not able to spread their costs across a wider variety of locations and options. Therefore, they try to maximize revenue per patient to keep their practice running. Personally, I don't mind that and get it - and I like supporting small local businesses if I can. They are also not forceful or abrasive about it, which I appreciate. That would have been a turnoff for sure, but they are very nice about it. Finally, if you get your frames and lenses from here, they are under a 1 year warranty that's included in the price. So you can use your glasses worry free. For me, because glasses are so important in my daily life, I'm always worried about messing up new glasses so this helps a lot in giving me peace of mind to just use them! Thank you Aloha Optometry for taking care of me and my family's eye care needs!

Everyone at the front desk was super kind and Dr. Randy Chun was informative, kind, and very efficient. I had such a good experience that I even had my mother go to them and she said it was one of the most thorough exams she's ever gotten! Alyssa was also very patient and helpful while I looked at the various types of frames they had. I think that's the hardest part about going to the optometrist! And they were quick to inform me when my glasses were delayed in the lab. Overall, a great experience and will definitely return again.

The office manager was openly rude, dismissive, and shockingly uninformed. When my usual contact lens brand (Acuvue Moist) was unavailable, I was given a different brand (BioTrue). I asked a very basic question: what is the difference between these two lenses? Her only response, repeated multiple times, was "the price." That answer isn't just incorrect, it's illogical. A significant price difference exists because there are differences in materials, moisture retention, comfort, and wear. When pressed, she said she "doesn't wear contacts" and therefore couldn't explain, an odd excuse for someone managing an optometry office. You do not need to personally use a product to understand or explain it. By that logic, no medical professional could explain medications they don't personally take. She made no effort to look up the information, ask another staff member below her, or provide any meaningful help. Instead, she was condescending and dismissive throughout the entire interaction. The trial lenses were uncomfortable, immediately dried my eyes, and caused blurry vision confirming that there are, in fact, differences she refused to acknowledge. Even after I told her how they immediately felt, she just would repeat the same phrase of "I don't wear contacts so I wouldn't know" and smile condescendingly. Aly has consistently been the only professional, knowledgeable, and helpful employee I've worked with over the years, and my decision about whether to continue care here will depend entirely on whether future visits can be handled through her without further interaction like this. Poor office leadership and an unwillingness to assist patients reflect badly on the entire practice. If your eyes dry out or blur with a given brand, that's a legitimate, physiological response, not something that can be dismissed as "just price." Professional staff should be able to explain these differences or check with another colleague rather than giving a non-answer.

Then he immediately asked me if I made the appointment online and if I received a confirmation, and I said I saw it's confirmed on the screen. And he asked if we got an email? I mean, ...as if the customer is the one to blame ? Then he said there is a 9:15 about another hour wait, and said, you can just hang out here and wait. Wait a second ! I took the time from my work, drive out there to get my annual, and now your system made a mistake and I had to pay for it with my time and the lack of hours I missed working and making money! Are you serious ? ??? The doctor is fine, I mean, expected, but the way they handle these situations are terrible. The guy at the front desk on 3/9 Monday morning, literally said " I just work here, if you want to complain, you can wait until my manager gets here in like 40 mins or come back another day" Like other customer complains, my time is precious and not being able to see patients when appointments are confirmed online should be taken seriously. If we need to bring confirmation email or proof, as long as it's notified, we are happy to do so. But when it's not the patients fault, they need to make up for our time.
