Our family has been coming here for years and we have never had a bad experience. Dr. Z (Zlevor) and his entire staff including, but not limited to: Alydis, Maria, and Sophie, are simply the best. For years, the staff has repaired our eyeglasses on site and at no cost. My son likes to fall asleep while wearing his eyeglasses which causes the frames to bend. My daughter has a severe stigmatism in one eye and she likes to wear contact lenses. Dr. Z examines her eyes and prescribes the best contact lens for that eye. The staff spent a lot of time finding a supplier that sells that special contact lens. We are all completely satisfied. read more

I had a problem with another retailer...(it starts with " For" and ends with "Eyes")..who blocked my insurance benefits after I returned frames to them win contract time frame. ). Saleswoman needs to relax. Trying to up sell me on everything. Ended up spending $420 out of pocket and she closed the sale by trying to get me to buy sunglasses. Out of touch and very disturbing. I will not go back there. read more

Awesome customer service, friendly staff, and knowledgeable staff. I had my exam and new glasses in less than an hour!!!! They even helped me save more money by going over discounts to see which was the better price for me. They have really updated their clientele since I was there with my boyfriend 2 years ago. I went to this Lenscrafters location today to purchase my contact lenses. I have been a Lenscrafters customer for years in Chicago, and although I read such negative reviews about this place I still gave them a try. The first representative who helped me out was not able to find the benefits of my vision plan in his system by entering my birthdate...he then just stares at me and asks me "how do you want me to proceed?" I obviously didn't know what to answer, so he gets up and gets a woman who claims to be the manager. She entered my social security in their system and finds my benefits. She then says that I should have given that number....well, I wasn't asked for it. She asked how many boxes of contact lenses I wanted and I answered I didn't know how much my plan was covering. She said she wouldn't know until I decided how many I wanted??? The benefits are fixed for contact lenses so she should have known...no sense. She was extremelly condescending to the point where I had to actually ask her to find someone else to help me out because I was having a horrible experience with her. She literally was looking down on me.I got all of my stuff and while walking out of that place I asked her if she had read the reviews from Yelp...in a very arrogant way of course she says: "yes, the ones from 2009??" Well, the recent bad reviews were filtered for some reason...I read the filtered reviews too. I told her I had been their customer for years, and that she had just lost another customer...I have options so I went to Pearle Vision in Lombard and had a very good experience there. Do not go to this Lenscrafters. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Where to start with this place?!?! At 1 star, this LensCrafters is overrated. On two different occasions I experienced terrible customer service, where I was made to feel that I was doing something wrong or inconveniencing the staff. One example relates to an order for a pair of glasses. All of my information was entered into their system, but they couldn't place the order because they had to wait for my prescription to be faxed over. They informed me that they would not place the order until they spoke to me and I approved the order. I received a voicemail from them with the cost information, but was unable to return their call due to the fact that I was busy at work that day only to receive a call later to let me know the glasses were made. Because they placed the order without speaking to me, the cost was about $80 with my insurance coverage, where it would have been $0 if they used a different lens. I explained this to them and they seemed confused that I was upset about an order being placed without my approval at a cost differential of $80. I told them to remake the glasses. Rather than do that, they did give them to me for free, but I was still disappointed in how they went about their business. Another example relates to a bent frame (the same pair of glasses referenced above). When I presented it to them, they said they'd try to fix it, but couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't break. Seriously??? I asked for the glasses back and just straightened them myself, without breaking them. Clearly I could have done that in the first place, but I thought they might be able to do a better job. Also, it has appeared that they have a lot of people working there, but hardly any of them are dealing with customers. The only reason I went there is that my insurance only covers a few providers and this place was convenient. I'll never go there again! read more

My husband recently had his eyes examined and purchased very expensive new glasses and prescription sunglasses. He felt he received a good exam and liked Dr. Z. However, after receiving his new glasses, he found his vision in the right eye to be much worse than his previous glasses. He was unable to wear them because of the totally blurred vision.The problem existed in both regular & sun glasses. He called & returned to the facility where they supposedly checked the prescription but only decided to adjust the frames hoping that would help. The problem continued, so he returned for the second time with the intention of returning the glasses under the 30 day warranty. The employee who helped him (sorry didn't get the name) took the initiative to "read" the prescription in the machine & discovered that the lab had made a serious error. The right eye lens were completely wrong - in both pairs of glasses! She had the lab redo both, and my husband saw immediate improvement. He is satisifed that he now has improved vision. However, this is not at all acceptable. A customer should not have to return multiple times to get someone to find and correct a problem that shouldn't have existed in the first place. Although we have both used Lens Crafters in the past, we will not be returning. read more

Downers Grove, Illinois shop. Had 1st appointment of day, Got out 1.5 hours later for a regular exam & frame choice. OMG are they expensive!!!! Exam $98 plus relatively inexpensive frame w prescription neared $600!!!! I thought my previous optometrist was costly, but LensCrafters makes her sound like the deal of the century! Those glasses should be able to do tricks for that kind of moolah. Then they give a survey site address that I look up in the hope I might get a gift certificate that would take some of the sting out of the total cost...no such address & I looked the next day. I will NEVER go to Lenscrafters again. They knew they were dealing with a senior citizen. They don't take BCBS anymore, so there were no opportunities to save any money on an incredibly costly pair of eyeglasses, namely the lenses. Had we known how much the friggin' lens' were going to cost, we would have taken our business elsewhere. Shame on me, but you should know what you are getting yourself in for before going to Lenscrafters. read more

I had an exam in May and told the doctor that I did not want progressive and that the last pair of glasses were progressive and they still sit in my drawer at home. So, what does he do??? Gets me another prescription for progressive glasses. When the glasses were in I told W-----y that I didn't want progresstive and she told me that the last pair of glasses I got were progressive. (The ones in my drawer). They just don't listen! There is NO communication between the doctor and the people that work the counter. If I told them 12 times that I did not want progressive then why did they get me another pair??? So back on June 28th I took back the progressive AGAIN and TOLD them AGAIN that I wanted a regular pair of glasses. They FINALLY said ok. What is wrong with them that they don't listen to the customer??? I'm the one that has to wear the glasses not them!!!!Now it's July 11th and if I don't get my glasses by tomorrow.....I now know that I will NEVER go there again. No more LensCrafters!!! I have been a cusrtomer for at least 30 years, but they really screwed up this time! My husband to his (almost new) Ralph Loren sunglasses in to have his new prescription put in and we were told that it would take 2 weeks. Ah yes, 2 weeks later, I went in to get his glasses and were told they were still on the shelf in back, they were never sent out, but!!!, suddenly they had them done in 3 days!!!
