My sister has astigmatism for the entire time but all the OD that she had been exam no one mentioned or noticed about that. Dr. Chang found out about that and she explained how new glasses will help my sister eyes feel less stress. The staffs were really helpful. They helped to pick out the right frame and lens for my sister glasses ( thanks Lillian and phon ). Ps: they recently moved to a new location. 7-14 days for glasses is what I was told, today is day 14 and my glasses are officially missing. No idea where they are according to the associates I've spoken with by phone. Yesterday the associate reordered the same pair and said he would get back to me in two days as to when I would receive them. This is after associates have failed to return calls to me as promised in reference as to where my glasses are. So I doubt I'll hear anything back. Wow, I really like this new location! This is my second year going to Dr. Chang. I was referred to her by friends and I love how sweet and caring she is. She always takes the time to review and explain any changes she sees in my vision. I don't feel rushed like at some other places. The new store is bigger and I think I found the perfect pair of progressive glasses this year. Alan was the one that helped me today. He was very friendly and helped me pick the right frame. This location is CLOSED and staff moved across the freeway in the Los Olivos center (near Whole Foods). The new retail area is bigger, but the "lab" is now 1/10th the size. The result is fewer lenses are in stock, and the "lab" must now send most prescriptions out for a 7 day wait. "Glasses in about an hour" is GONE. LENS Crafters has now moved too far from the original concept of "glasses in about an hour". It is evident that this store concept is to move the majority of the lab outside the store to increase profit. The end result feels like less service, higher prices, and an effort to justify this by using up-selling techniques that say that the quality you USED to provide was simply not good enough. With this in mind, why would Someone pay the premium at LensCrafters with only access to one lab, why wouldn't Customers go to an independent optometrist to fill a RX with a Zeiss prescription or someone else? Have you been to a Dunkin Donuts recently? To increase profits they no longer make donuts in the store, they make them in a central distribution center, freeze them, and now thaw them for sale in the stores. Expenses have gone down for Dunkin Donuts because they no longer need fryers and prep equipment in stores, they can reduce the size of shops and rent, but now their donuts taste like they were frozen. Lens Crafters is headed in this same direction. If you can get a sup-par frozen donut at the supermarket for less money, why would you continue to go to Dunkin Donuts? The same logic will soon apply to LensCraters in this new model. In the past I was willing to pay a premium price for convenience, but now paying $700+ for a top-end progressive Rx and having to wait 7 days makes me look more carefully for an independent optometrist who can provide better quality Zeiss Rx lenses with the best coatings and optical characteristics at $500 and get it in just 7 days. $200 savings, same amount of time, and no Luxottica "up-sell". Lens Crafters has lost its advantage. I will not be back. read more

I had already been to the LensCrafters in Tyler Mall (Riverside) and Shops at Mission Viejo. Both had minimal selection of frames and the customer service wasn't great. While at the Spectrum thought I would give it one more shot? Third time was definitely the charm! Great selection of frames for every possible price range. I was greeted, not pressured but also not ignored. After I found exactly what I wanted the young woman (wish I remembered her name!) was so professional. Also, once all my bells & whistles were totaled I was stunned at how affordable it was (I'm currently a starving student and budget conscious). I was in and out in less than 30 minutes with complete confidence. The glasses arrived well before their estimate and were perfect!! Then a month later I received a letter from LensCrafters. They review billing and due to a programming error my anti-reflective lenses charge had been too much. How awesome to receive a refund check for $40.00! I didn't expect much when I saw this Lenscrafters based on prior reviews. I guess they took them seriously because they have a new manager and workers. I usually go to the one in MainPlace Santa Ana and am pretty impressed with the service there. Since I have 2 toddlers, convenience is of the utmost importance, and they understood the need for speedy service. Something that took about 1.5 of waiting just to get seen and addressed in other Lenscrafters took about 15 mins here. I came because my lens needed to be changed. I had the insurance on the lenses and they pulled my records but couldn't understand why the frames weren't. I liked that they had notes from the other location and they even called them and waited on hold until they verified my information. They didn't have the lens in stock and told me it would take a week, they did call the other location at Mainplace and told me they had it in stock, but I wanted to get it from another location as I already had 2 faulty lens I had to replace. The only set back was that they said they would call and text me when the lens came in, but I must've missed it, so I called about 10 days out and they apologized and said that it came in a week ago. They were able to fix and tighten my glasses as well. Kudos to service and speediness. read more

I was so anxious to get a new pair of glasses for the winter time. I went to my regular eye doctor to get my prescription because I saw a really cute frame at the LensCrafters in Brea mall. Since I didn't have my prescription at that time, I went to the Irvine Spectrum to see if they had the frames I wanted. With my prescription and card in hand, I was ready to purchase the frames! BUT they didn't have it. William (which I see below is the manager) came up to me and asked if I needed any assistance after I had been looking for a few minutes. Told him that I fell in love with glasses at the one in Brea and he just asked if I had the model number. No, I didn't have it and he walked away and never came back to assist me. I figured he was just finishing something up but he was just standing around and didn't try to go above and beyond to try and figure out which glasses they were. I could have easily found the pair or something similar that I wanted but he didn't want anything to do with me and didn't even make eye contact with me. Since he's the manager, I would assume he would want his staff to do as they watch him do. NOPE! He was terrible with customer service and being that I'm in customer service, I would never have him touch a prescription of mine, especially seeing with what's written below about him particularly. I'm glad to go spend my money at the LensCrafters in Brea where they were eager to help me and had fantastic customer service. For the store's website mislead me so I end up blowing my lunch break going into a shop to find out that, no, not only do they not carry the product you're looking for, they don't even have ANY products in that category. Now I'm eating lunch at my desk, and calling other nearby locations to discover that they don't have anything in that category either. None of the locations nearby have adult-sized sports goggles, and apparently, none of the locations even KNOW any locations that have any. My husband had an eye test exam in Los Olivos branch and they gave him his prescription for his glasses. He took the prescription to another store and ordered his new glasses. When the glasses came in and he tried it, he realized that he still cannot see well. So he went to the Los Olivos branch and asked to match the prescription with the glasses, they checked the glasses and they confirmed that glasses are matching with the prescription. So my husband asked them what I should do and they offered him to have another appointment to check his eyes; after the second appointment they confirmed that the previous prescription they provided is not correct and therefore his new eyeglasses is also useless. He ordered the eyeglasses from another store and that was not that store fault, they provided the glasses based on the LensCrafters' prescription and that was Lenscrafters' fault that provided an incorrect prescription. They did not accept to pay my husband for their mistake. Now my husband is left with a useless eyeglasses and he needs to get a new one because of their mistake! That is a horrible customer service! This was the best experience I've ever had at a doctor's office. My appointment was scheduled for 1 PM, but I arrived a bit early. I was pleasantly surprised that they accommodated me right away. I worked mostly with Peggy through the exam and she was fantastic. Peggy was very knowledgeable, friendly, and a great person to enjoy a conversation with. Dr. Chang was so sweet and thorough with me the entire time. It was my first experience getting contacts and she spent more than enough time explaining each detail about contact maintenance. Dr. Chang even put the contacts in my eye! (which was a bit terrifying at first, but I was too chicken to do it myself). I usually feel rushed at the doctor's office, but Dr. Chang reiterated to not rush through learning how to put in and take out my contacts, so she stayed with me throughout the process. I was also impressed that multiple employees checked on me during my visit to make sure I was comfortable and to offer assistance when necessary. I was there for almost 2 hours from start to finish and at no point did I feel rushed. I've had my eye exam here and I was satisfied with my exam, minus that retina picture that I had to pay for. So refuse that, it's just whatevas. I've also had my eyeglasses adjusted here and was satisfied with the adjustments. Overall, I would probably not come back to get an exam here. It was kinda of pricey and the prices of they contact lenses change all that time. I am not fond of the prices on their contact lenses, as you can see. LensCrafters relocated from the Irvine Spectrum to across the 405 at Los Olivos Marketplace plaza (next to Whole Foods). Although Los Olivos can get crowded at lunchtime, overall it is much easier to get in and out of than the Spectrum. And, more importantly, it's a much larger store with a much, much larger selection - especially with regard to luxury brands. Turning to the eye exams, Dr. Kuei-Yu Chang (of Iris Bright Optometry - which is located inside the store) is the best! She makes everything easy to understand, and it's obvious in the way she remembers conversations/developments from last year's exam that she truly cares about her patients. Only had my glasses for a month and already they are cracking. I went into LensCrafters Irvine, by Jamboree with an older pair of glasses I also got at LensCrafters with cracks all around the edges. They appear as striations, and are not from dropping or mishandling them. It's in the material of plastic they use to make the lenses. I specifically told them I don't want the same thing to happen to the new pair. ONE MONTH later, and I noticed cracks appearing again along both lenses along the entire edges. My other pair of glasses were half frames. Lenscrafters examined them and told me the reason for the cracks were due to them being half frames. That is why my new frames are full frames. It didn't make sense that they would sell half frames if this caused the problem because about half the glasses in the store were half frames! Regardless, they assured me that this wouldn't happen with the new pair. Yet it did. I've been wearing glasses my entire life, and have always taken care of the lenses, particularly as I've gotten older because they are so expensive. When I went into the store this evening the guy who did my eye test didn't remember me (was only in there last month, but if he's seeing people all day, he gets a pass). I asked if they could put new frames in my old lenses in lieu of putting new lenses in the new frame. No! They said it didn't work that way. So rather than have a customer that has been going to various Lenscrafters for the past 25 years, with new glasses every few years, they would rather tell me for $60 they will replace the lenses...with the same exact material. The next person I dealt with told me the lab said it was how I was caring for the frames. All I use is the cloth that they gave me (they didn't give me any instructions on how to care for the lenses...again, I've been wearing glasses my whole life and it didn't matter to me). When I told her I take meticulous care of my glasses, all she could say was she understood. When I asked for glass lenses vs. plastic, she informed me they don't use glass. Instead, they have another material that costs twice as much. Mine was about $300, with cracks appearing after one month. The new material WOULD NOT BE GUARANTEED to not have the same condition, and would cost about $600 (with a 40% discount it came out to about $360 or so). I already spent $300. I was not about to drop another $360 for glasses that could not be guaranteed to work. No remediation. So Yelp, Google, and small claims court are my next actions. Can't wait to see the response from their online presence saying how sorry they were for this experience and is there anything they could do to resolve it. Yes. Sell glasses with lenses that don't crack. I have glasses that are 30 years old, and they may have chips in them, but they don't have fine cracks that run along the edges like fault lines. I'm glad the store was filled as I tried to explain the issue. Hopefully others will take heed and buy their glasses elsewhere. I know I will never step foot into any other Lenscrafters again, particularly the one in Irvine. You don't charge customers when your product is defective. You replace the product and get the customer out of the store, or go above and beyond and fix it at Lenscrafters expense. read more

I purchased a Ray-Ban prescription sunglasses at Lensecrafters#5106(8519 Irvine Center Drive, #8519, Irvine, CA 92618) on July 2nd.. I am regular customer of Lenscrafters and I received my birthday coupon of sunglasses that the prescription lenses were free and it was applied to the pay when it was checked out. On July 7th., I received the text it's ready to pick up and I went to the store. But it's not sunglasses, but regular glasses. So, the associate told me that it's factory mistake and I requested a gentleman to order exact same color as sample sunglasses on display. I picked it up and showed it to him. He said he would make it. Yesterday, the store contacted that it's ready to pick up and I went to the store again. However, they gave me the sunglasses with different color lenses. So, I told them that it's different from showing the sunglasses color on display. She compared them and agreed with me and talked with someone. Afterwards, they told me that my sunglasses lenses were not Ray-Ban and could not make same color as original display color. the gentleman told me "If you want to get same color, you have to order original Ray Ban lenses and you have to pay extra out of pocket, because the prescription coupon doesn't cover Ray Ban prescription glasses.". When I heard it's not Ray-Ban lenses, I felt cheated, because, when I purchased Ray-Ban sunglasses from Ray-Ban shelves, I thought the prescription sunglasses lenses were also Ray Ban. They didn't say about that the lenses were not Ray-Ban and the coupon coverage when I purchased the sunglasses on July 2nd, 2022. Today, they ask more payment, if I want to get Ray-Ban lenses. Who doubt that the prescription lenses are not Ray-Ban for the Ray Ban sunglasses of Ray-Ban shelves in Lenscrafters store? I think it could mislead customers. My visit was on 11/14/16. Overall, very pleasant experience. The front desk staff member was personable and professional. Dr. Chang was friendly, meticulous, and knowledgeable. She did a very thorough job with my eye exam and was able to answer my various questions related to my eye health to my satisfaction. I had gone to the Newport Beach location almost a year ago and decided to give a try the Irvine Spectrum location since it was much closer to my apartment. Glad that I did. I thought that their prices seemed fair; nothing out of "OC ordinary." Even though my insurance was out of network (VSP), my out-of-pocket payment was reasonable. LensCrafters does not stand behind their work past the thirty day mark. I bought glasses and lenses here in August. Starting in November, the anti reflective coating started to peel/flake. I lived with it until today and decided to go in and let them know about their defective lenses. I spoke to Jordan today who proceeded to argue with me about "he doesnt know what I do to my glasses" and the heat can cause this. How about I shove my glasses up your tookis? THE LENSES ARE FOUR MONTHS OLD UNDER REGULAR WEARER CONDITIONS. I have wore glasses all my life with the tint and coating and NEVER had this issue. NEVER. Further, since I bought the one year insurance (the add on), he proceeded to use that and charge me my deductible instead of acknowledging that the lenses are defective and making it right. The deductible was not much, but it was the principle of the matter. This store is all about nickel and diming you instead of standing behind their work. I have been a lens crafters customer for three years spending nearly a thousand yearly on glasses and contacts. Never again. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

My exam went well, thanks to Dr. Chang who gave me good tips on eye care and recommended me products to help with eye relief given my use of computer between 10-15 hours per day. Dr. Chang was consistent and steady in carrying out my eye exam. She also went over the retina image with me to help make sure I understood some of the image details that I had questions about. The store staff were really friendly. Greeted me and instantly offered to help as soon as I stepped into the store, which made me as a customer feel welcomed. This location made my new eyeglasses really quickly. On the day I picked up my glasses, the staff made sure the glasses fit appropriately on my face and answered the questions I had for them. Rare are the times when I can give a business 5 stars without actually being a customer. A screw on my glasses came loose - likely the result of a bent bracket - and I was told by someone that if I brought them in to LensCrafters they would replace it gratis. They did. I came here on a busy Saturday and was immediately helped out by some dude around my age. I showed him my glasses and he said he'd take care of it. About seven minutes later he emerged from the back room. Not only did he fix my loose screw, but he also bent the bracket back into place so it wouldn't happen again. And they charged me exactly nothing. If their service for actual paying customers if this good or better, then I know where I'm going for my next pair. read more
