Total ripoff. I had cataract surgery in one eye and needed my left lens taken out and a clear one, no prescription put in. I was keeping the same frames. My right eye didn't need to be changed plus I had insurance. They charged me $385, $119 of that was my charge as my insurance didn't cover it all. When I went back to my ophthalmologist for a follow up I told him how much they charged me, which I had thought was ridiculous, and he agreed and said it should have been MAYBE $50 for the work. I immediately returned them and I did get a refund. But don't like being ripped off like that. SHAME ON YOU !!! read more

Background - I've been wearing gas-permeable lenses since 8th grade. I am now almost 30 years old so I have had a lot of experiences dealing with Optometrists. I've gone to private practices, Kaiser, and the unfortunately experience of dealing with Lens Crafters. NEVER go to Lens Crafters unless you like fresh-out-of-school Optometrists that constantly tries to upsell products you don't need. I had to go back to their store FIVE times for them to get my order correct. I guess they don't realize that people have real jobs and do not have time to deal with their unskilled labor. I understand that people make mistakes but FIVE times is beyond ridiculous. With barely any apologies and a fake smile I do not have any incentive to ever go back. You might as well hire monkeys and issue out pinhole spectacles. For the price, Lens Crafters is not worth it. For the service lens crafters is not worth it. For your eyes Lens Crafters is NOT worth it. This review may be harsh but I am adamantly against going to Lens Crafter for anyone that takes their orbitals seriously. Worst customer service EVER. I'm appalled by the treatment I received yesterday. My appointment was for 5pm. I arrived at 4:30 (maybe earlier) and was not seen until nearly 5:40. Whats the point of an appointment?? The front staff was incredibly rude and inattentive...to me. I watch a flood of people get helped while my chart just sat and sat and sat. After I approached the staff and expressed my dissatisfaction and requested to see the doctor immediately, they huddled up and had a quick laugh at my expense. The doctor admitted to actually taking someone ahead of me! The manager (William) was there and did not say a word to me the entire time or try to help in any way. The staff at this location was great. They helped us look up a pair of glasses that went missing and worked with another location to try and expedite the shopping process. Then both staff members helped my husband pick out a backup pair just in case his favorite frames were unavailable before the weekend. There were no high pressure sales tactics, and they even helped us find a second pair that was cheaper than the first pair he wanted. We asked for the second pair without prompting, so the second sale was not pushed on us. Overall it was a great experience! We will visit again. read more

I've struggled with getting the right adjustments on my glasses for years. Gone to lots of people claiming they know what they're doing. Ken looked squarely at my face for 5 seconds, literally, and said, I'll be right back. 45 seconds later my glasses have never fit so comfortably or stayed put while tipping my head down, in all my life. So we spent over $175 for kids glasses. They also very pushy trying to up sell you things you don't need. After a year we decided to try another Eye doctor because we didn't want to up sold and i was very happy with the experience i had there. I decided to go to a repeatable optometrist in our area and he told me she never needed glasses. Way to go lenscrafter sell me something we don't need. My roommate's ex-gf broke my glasses last year (that's another story for another time), so I've been needing new ones for quite some time. Been wearing my old ones from middle school (yes, which was 8+ years ago), which are green and make me look like a Pokemon fan at a cartoon convention. Not that looking young is a bad thing, but it's not an image you want to project in front of your clients, who happen to be C-level executives of a multi-billion dollar music company. But I digress. I'm extremely indecisive, so I've literally been to 3 different Lenscrafters on 5-6 occasions, each time walking out without a purchase. Which feels me feel like a girl. So today, I enlisted my mom to help me out. We walked into the store around 5:15pm, and was immediately greeted by manager Tracy, who was super friendly and even remembered us from our visit 4 weeks ago (Embarrassing you say? Your face.). Now that is good memory. Well maybe not - what Berkeley-educated management consultant goes glasses-shopping with his mom twice in 4 weeks? Anyway, let me explain why this Lenscrafters, and this one alone, deserves 4 stars. I've set my eyes on these Oakley frames for a while now, but was hesitant to get them because some d-bag at the Laguna Hills store told me my insurance discount didn't apply to Oakley products. I didn't even bring that up when Tracy was ringing me up, but she, upon seeing that I'm an Aetna member, charitably informed me that I was indeed eligible for a 40% discount on Oakley frames. Now that, my friend, is premier customer service. She was even completely cool when I told her I just wanted the frames because I knew someone who could get lenses for me for much cheaper. In the end, she saved me 94 big bucks on the frame. I was happy. I was also ridiculed by my mom for believing that douche from the Laguna Hills store. But I had it coming. So in short, look for Tracy if you don't know what you want. This store is bigger than the Tustin location and is better organized and stocked. Oh and Tracy rocks. Verdict: superb customer service = 4 stars. Would have been a 5 if the lenses weren't so pricey. read more

$120 Contact Lens Eye Exams for the win! (totally sarcastic).. They charged me $55 for eye exam and then another $65 for the "contact lens fitting" which is complete BS. The fitting is 2 minutes and they check to see if the contacts fit properly, but in my case totally unnecessary since I was getting the exact same brand and they did a fitting check last time.. and again.. 2 minutes! read more

The single star is for the optometrist who is very good. Otherwise the staff is slow, inefficient, unhelpful and clueless. We were there for nearly three hours today only to walk out WITHOUT the two pairs of glasses I was trying to purchase. I wasn't interested in the sample frames (vs new ones) considering the $500+ price tag!! I had to ask them to call around to other stores which they were reluctant to do. I was hesitant to come here because of the bad reviews. Sadly I had lost my persc. Sunglasses and needed new ones fast. I was greeted right away by a friendly host and he offered to assist me with my needs. He was kind and very helpful. The whole transaction was quick and painless. No up selling no delays. I was back in an hour and the original clerk wasn't there. I was greeted again with the same friendliness as before. The technician came out making sure my glasses were just right and let me know I could come back anytime to get them adjusted if need be. I was out in less then 10 minutes! I'm getting older, I am on the computer a lot. My eyes aren't what they used to be which means it was time to make an appointment at Lenscrafter. I was quickly greeted when I walked in and then shortly after a technician started the pretests. After the pretests were done, I had to wait a few minutes for the optometrist. While I was waiting, I browsed at the practically endless collection of glasses on the walls. After meeting with the optometrist, it was determined I would need glasses mainly for reading/computer use. The optometrist helped me show how lenses would make it easier on me on the computer by actually taking me out front and looking at a computer. Doing this really helped because I was able to see much clearer. The technician helped me pick out a pair of glasses. I was first unsure of my choice but when people at work told me I actually looked cute and stylish it made me very happy. I had decided to pick my glasses up the next day. Usually you can get your glasses in about an hour and because this Lenscrafters is located at the spectrum, you can doing some browsing, shopping and/or eating while you wait. read more

My only complaint is the lack of communication, but I understand that they are busy and can't always cater to my phone call needs. My glasses turned out really nice, they did a wonderful job on them. I have a tough Rx and the guy/gal who worked on my sunglasses made them look great. By rounding off the edges, they look thinner than they really are, and for someone with a prescription like mine, that's a really good thing. I decided to get my eye exam here because it's across the street from my work. This was my first time to Lenscrafters. My eye doctor, Dr. Susan Sim, was wonderful and I highly recommend her. I've never felt so at ease and comfortable and she'll probably be my eye doctor for a long time. However, I was not happy with the optician because I felt like he was ripping me off. First of all, I felt like I was being hurried while trying to choose a new pair of frames. He was standing next to me most of the time asking me what I was looking for. It was ok at the beginning but after 5 minutes I wanted him to go away. He went away a couple of times but came back and stayed and made comments until I finally chose a pair. Secondly, I felt like he was adding all these things to up the price of my glasses. The total came out to $620 but my insurance covered $275. I just thought the price of $620 was just so wrong because I've gotten glasses without insurance and the total came out way below that. So even after my insurance covered $275, the total was still $345. I didn't think this price was correct because my coworker told me he got his glasses for around $105 through a private practice optometrist. He said that $345 was waaay too much because our insurance covered most of it. Thus, the optician was probably adding on unnecessary things to up the price. I highly recommend Dr. Susan Sim but not getting your glasses at Lenscrafters. I'm going to take my prescription elsewhere. read more

She proceeded to blame the current head doctor saying it was their fault she couldn't provide me with contacts that I needed. And this was all on my birthday. I normally go to a Korean optometrist, but since Lenscrafter was running 40% off their prescription sunglasses, I took advantage of it. I have no complaint really. I came in knowing what I wanted and I had my prescription ready to go, so I was in and out quick. They had to send in my prescription since I wanted the original Ray Ban lenses. They didn't try to upsell me; like I said, I knew exactly what I wanted. Not even a week later, I got a call letting me know that my glasses were ready. First off this is my 2nd time coming to this location. First visit had no issues at all. 2nd time around horrible experience had my eye exam picked out my glasses everything was good. Then I came back a week later to pick up my new glasses & sun glasses "Oakley has to be shipped". Walked in wasn't greeted at all, the guy said yes I said I'm here to pick up my new glasses. He grabbed my glasses I tried them on I said there was a spot / blemish in the left side of both my glasses and sun glasses. He said it's and prescription I will have to get used to it. Ok I figured all try that.. 2 days of using them I came back and talked to the assistant manager she told me the spot/blemish was due to having a stigmatism in my left eye.. hmm I've had that for years and my previous pair didn't have that problem. Then she tried to tell me different reasons why I'm seeing the spot and suggested to try them again and let me eyes adjust. Ok I'll give it another try. After 5 days and almost crashing because he spot/blemish blocked my view I said F this. Went back talked to the assistant manager again. This time she told me it's because the glasses are wrapped and not flat. So I said ok found another pair of glasses that were flat and she made a excuse about why I'm still going to have the same issue. Ok now your full of it. Instead of sending them back or checking the prescription which she suggested wouldn't help at all. I said return them. Got my refund and left. So now I got my prescription which was taken at this location and went to Target in the Market place which has a optical department. Explained to them what happened at Lens Crafters, the employee said there is no way that spot/blemish is due to a stigmatism! So I gave them the exact model numbers from the glasses I got from lens crafters because I really like those models of glasses & sun glasses. They were able to order the exact same pairs. So Target called me today said they were in, I drove on my lunch to go get them. Guess what!! No spot or blemish!! Perfect with no issues. This Lens crafters sucks &'their employees really don't know shit. Never again!! Also - these glasses come with removable nose guard and the option to change the color of the Oakley logo. Lens crafters did not give me the nose pieces or Oakley color logo changers. They told me if I needed to switch nose guard just come back. Target gave me every nose guard and all the Oakley color changers.. Just a FYI!! Your the customer paying you should get everything !!! 1 more thing - When purchased at Lens Crafters with VSP out of network discount I paid $671 for glasses & sun glasses. I would not give even half a star! bought very expensive glasses at Lenscrafters. With the "higher quality" protective lens anti-glare and scratch resistant coating. After 2 years they had smudges on them. I brought them back and they told me that I did not have the warranty and even if I had it was over 1 year and I couldn't use it. The sales person mentioned they don't get a lot of complaints so it's not a known issue!!! Just a quick search through reviews I found 5 out of first 8 reviews complaining of same issues. This can just be due to using cheap material for their lenses and not staying behind their products !!! So disappointed on how their treat their customers! The reason is when I came back to pick another frame and they didn't have anotherone I liked, I asked for my money back and they couldn't do it! I've been here three times and overall, my experiences have been mixed. My first two visits were appointments, and on both occasions I had to wait for. ever. Seriously, the second appointment was for a contact lens eye exam and I set aside an hour and a half for the appointment and still ended up 20 minutes late for work (even skipping the pupil dilation). They seemed to be understaffed. However, I stopped by this afternoon to order new contacts and I received prompt, friendly service. They even gave me a free pair of trial lenses because I'll be heading out of town before my prescription gets in! Still giving Lenscrafters 3 out of 5 because they are expensive, and 1 good experience out of 3 is not terrific. It's weird that I had to wait longer for an appointment than I did for a walk in. I take it as a sign that the service here is improving, but I'm still skeptical. read more
