I am writing to express my frustration and dissatisfaction with the service I received at the Southlake Mall location in Merrillville, Indiana. I recently called to place an order for contact lenses, intending to use my insurance benefits before the end of the year. During my call, I spoke with a representative who initially confirmed there should be no issue with my order, but they needed to verify my husband's prescription. I was then transferred to Kelly, the store manager, who was extremely unhelpful and unpleasant. She repeatedly told me that there was no prescription for my husband in the system, despite him having visited the location in May. We had multiple visits where we tried different contact lenses, and a final prescription was issued. My husband even received a paper with the prescription details. We originally decided to order online, but now that I want to use my benefits for additional contact lenses, I was told that I cannot order because no prescription exists. My main concern is with the behavior of the manager, Kelly. She was rude and dismissive throughout the conversation. She informed me that the doctor was out of town and that I would need to wait until Monday for clarification. When I asked if I could schedule an appointment, she refused, insisting that I wait for the doctor to contact me. She also refused to let me schedule an appointment with another doctor to ensure my husband could be seen before the end of the year, claiming it was not her fault that I was waiting until the end of the year to use my benefits. This situation has become unnecessarily complicated, and I feel as though Kelly is intentionally making it difficult. Today, when she called to inform me that the doctor would need to see my husband again, I asked why, since he had already been seen within the last year. Kelly again refused to provide clarity and insisted that the doctor's decision was final. I requested to speak with Kelly's supervisor, as I no longer wanted to communicate with her, given her dismissive and overbearing attitude. Kelly, however, ignored my request and ended the call without providing any alternative contact or escalation details. This treatment is unacceptable, and I am left wondering why I am being asked to pay for another visit when my husband already received a prescription earlier this year. I strongly believe this situation is unfair and possibly fraudulent, as my husband's prescription should be on file. watch out the poor customer service experience I encountered is upsetting. read more

Absolutely abhor that they do not have the prescription access. They are overpriced and gouge you in cost even with insurance.

I would have give them no stars if that was available the service was terrible I bought a pair of glasses from there less than six months ago. At least I can see the screen better now :) thanks to LensCrafters :) I had my eye exam in December 2009 at a different place - but finally got around to buying glasses due to the recent theft of my prescription glasses from the bas**ard to bashed in my car window and stole lots of pointless crap, but that's another issue. My prescription glasses was what I was most upset about..mostly because that's just being ignorant, WTF is some random person going to do with MY presc. glasses? I came to LensCrafters with my mom, thank goodness..cuz she'll tell me the truth. I tried on about 8 different pairs of glasses - before coming to the winner, before ever looking at the price (didn't want that to persuade me). After I had picked - i asked one of the helpful women their opinion on my final two, and they picked the same one we did! So that sold it! They were having a 30% off frames/lenses sale - but i also have vision discounts through my Medical Insurance. She added them both up with the separate deals (couldn't use both discounts together) and turns out my insurance had the better deal! Didn't try to upsell me or get me to buy a whole bunch of pointless coatings and tintings etc! I then asked when i might come back & Pick them up. The lady then looked at me like i was drunk, and said "In about an Hour?" Hahhaha. I'd forgotten their catchy slogan ...so that was a plesant surprise! I didn't have to wait weeks to receive these - which is good for me - and everyone else on the road with me :) now that i could see! Highly recommended, very patient, and pleasant! read more

My one and only experience with this place occurred in September 2013. I won't be back. Several reasons: 1) The time it took for this endeavor was unnecessary. Appointment with the eye doctor was fine and lasted for a reasonable amount of time. Buying glasses on the other hand was terrible. I had to wait for 3 hours to be waited on. They clearly do not have enough staff working in this department. While I was looking no one came by to ask how I was doing or answer any questions. But since I had to wait 3 hours I had made up my mind on my own. They refused to put new lenses in my old frames, which I would have preferred. It took forever for them to do the adjustments and whatnot before they were ordered and my hour wait began. It was more like an hour and a half by the time they were done. The whole ordeal, from the time I arrived for my appointment until I walked out with my new frames was 6 hours. Seriously? This did not need to be an all day thing. I had taken off work to do several different errands that day and the eye doc was first on my list. I didn't get much else accomplished! 2) The cost was too high for what I received. I decided to try this place instead of my regular eye doc because my regular eye doc does not accept my insurance for routine visits and I have to pay out of pocket. This place accepted my insurance for the exam but would not allow me to use both a coupon and my insurance for the exam. With insurance, the exam ended up costing me about $50 more than the out of pocket fee at my previous doctor. The frames were reasonably priced but the clear coating on the lenses quickly started coming off after a few months. I mostly wear contacts so my glasses don't get much use. The lenses are not holding up well at all for occasional use. 3) They just don't have a fantastic selection. I pretty much settled for my frames and ended up having to come back at least twice for contact fittings because they did not have what I normally wore and was happy with so they sent me with trials. 4) Ever since my appointment I have been bugged by them. I have received calls, emails, and ads in the mail on a consistent basis even after asking to be removed from their lists. I informed them that I would not be back and the reasons why but they just don't stop. I guess they are unable to comprehend the difficulty of the statement "leave me alone". read more

The eye exam potion of this location is fantastic, have been going there for three years. This past year I finally decided to buy new frames/lenses. Splurged on some Tiffany glasses but the lenses inserted are no where near the quality of the frames. Within the first week, the glare coating was coming off. Knowing I needed to be back in a month for my yearly exam, I waited on discussing the lense defect. After a horrible customer service encounter, the lady decided to replace my lenses free of charge. A month in, scuffs slowly started to appear on the inside of the lenses--so much now--that it's obnoxious to wear them. To put things in perspective, I had my previous pair of lenses for 10+ years--through middle/high school and college-not one scuff or scratch. Tell me, as an adult, how have I become more reckless? ..I haven't. I chalk it up to the poor quality/craftsmanship at this location. read more

It was one of the worst experiences I have had with the contact part of LensCrafters. I'm not really sure if the contact part is fully associated with LensCrafters. Anyway I called before I came to make sure they take my insurance. An also to get contacts only because I had my prescription from another Doctor that wasn't expired yet. I called everything was okay. They explained to me that they go accept my insurance. I told them I was walking in everything seem great. Long story short the contact department staff was very stand offish unwelcoming for a business you are spending your money. I still continued with even though I know I should have left. Everything was rushed ,but I whatever I was happy to get out of their . I told them twice what contacts I wanted. One week later the contacts come to my house. It's the wrong product. I was pissed I called to see what happened was anything written down wrong ? No it wasn't my order was not communicated well with Who ever had to process the order. So I asked to speak to a manager. Heather got in the phone she explained she was the manager. I told her the situation on how rude and stand offish her staff was her response was I KNOW MY GIRLS THEY DONT ACT LIKE THAT . YOU WERE PROBABLY UPSET YOU HAD TO WAIT 15-20 MINUTES ON THE EYE GLASS WHICH WAS WHY YOU WAS UPSET!!!! I was like omg !!!! Are you serious Were you their when this happened, you know your staff every move. So since that the case why they didn't get my contact order right??? She stated did I want to exchange the order.I said no I want a refund and never do business here again . The manager HEATHER response to their mistake was shocking. No surprise the rating is so low. Eye Dr. Service is horrible. Walked in. Told the staff the sole reason I was there was to get contacts and that I lived 45 minutes away. Waited 40 minutes to be seen. Started exam and only then told I would have to come back for a 2nd exam to ensure correct fitting. First time in 25 years that was "necessary". Of course it wasn't possible so I wasted an hour of time and could not get contacts. What a racket. 2nd exam so they can make more money. Don't ever go here, and they lied that they didn't accept my insurance. I checked with my carrier. Worst experience ever. Dr. Mark Allmaras should be be ashamed. read more

Went for a eye exam and contact fitting. I had a noon appt and got right in at noon. Dr Allmaras was great! Great personality, actually spends time with you. Not like most places that are like an assembly line. His staff was great, sandy the receptionist was great along with the contact fitting girl, wish I remembered her name I would give her a shoutout. I am at the age where I need bifocals. The contacts are tricky with bifocals and they actually brought me in and tried out 3 different sets before I got the correct ones. They actually seemed like they cared and wanted me to be happy with the contacts where most chain places are like an assembly line. They gave me a 50% off coupon for frames and lenses. I got 50% off the contact exam when I purchased a year supply. All in all I had a great experience here and would most definitely recommend this office and they had my glasses done and fitted in less then an hour! read more

I advise any mothers with small children to never see optometrist Veronica Camarillo. She seemed competent, but has a very condescending attitude and seriously lacks the empathy, compassion, and professionalism one expects to see in a doctor. I brought my 16-month-old son along with me to my appointment to get new glasses. I don't believe I have ever seen a doctor who rolled their eyes and/or gave me condescending glares. Although I could tell from the moment I met the woman, another woman in the office actually confirmed to me that "DR. CAMARILLO DOES NOT LIKE CHILDREN." She tried to bully me into "coming back later" numberous times because my son was crying during my appointment. I sternly told her that he would be okay and urged her to quickly wrap up the eye exam. She made numerous rude comments and was surprised when I answered no to her question regarding if I brought another adult with me. She told me numerous times that I was not allowed to hold my son during my eye exam. It was such a contrast from my previous eye exam in Indianapolis in 2017 during which I actually breastfed my son through the entire exam. 1/5 - DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

If I could give this place a zero, I would. It isn't the glasses that are horrible, it's their serious lack of customer service. My husband came in and bought glasses, they sat crooked on his face and instead of helping him out, they said his nose was broken (he's never broken his nose), he came back two days later and then they said his ears were crooked and they're STILL sitting off balance.
