Terrible! I arrived 10 minutes early and was told there was one person ahead of me and they were running a few minutes behind. 50 minutes later and 3 people seeing the doctor. I asked why. They asked me for my name again and couldn't find my chart. I walked out! One or two minutes after leaving I received a call asking why I left, I was next. I reexplained the situation and was told the doctor must have mixed up the charts. Way to point the finger. Unbelievable! I told them not to bill me or my insurance or I will despite it. Typically a 15-20 minute appointment turned into 50 minutes of waiting and never seeing the doctor. Turns out they billed my insurance company so I cannot even go somewhere else. Not empathetic towards patients. More of a money hungry driven business structure. Long story short. Came in for an eye exam. Unfortunately lens crafters were no longer covered through my healthcare provider. My prescription ended the day of my appointment and yet they still would not let me purchase any contacts out of pocket. They also would not let me purchase (or give me) day or week trials to hold me over. Yet would only give me trials if I were to pay hundreds of dollars to schedule an upcoming exam. read more

Normally I would not be the person to write here about a bad experience. But here I am. I'm really disappointed about my last visit to this lens crafters store. I just moved in the neighborhood couples weeks ago, and the store I use to go to is way downtown. So I thought I'd go visit this one for a remplacement of the frame of my ray ban eyes glasses. First the woman at the front was really rude and look up at me like I was asking something unreal. And definitely knew that I wasn't gonna spend more money that she was expected me to. Which was to keep the lenses of my current glasses but change it to another frame at a price of 175$. Without even a minute she checked my pair and told me that the code has " faded " and that she need to see if she has the correct frame. Which already make me see the amount of professionalism that they were up to. My frame is a original Ray Ban iconic that no matter where I bought it. I should able to find it really easily. Then she try to explain to me that maybe the lenses are not gonna fit the one I was looking for. Also in a rude way. At the same time she was talking to her colleague without me being able to ear what they were saying. Then I had to wait 10mn seating at a chair waiting for someone to make sure that they had my frame and that it could fit the lense. By the way I also check on their website and they said that they have that frame in stock in all stores in Manhattan. At the end the personne that I was waiting on just answer me and tell me that they don't have it bc mine is a bigger than the one they have. Everything to know sell me anything. The whole experience was just the worst time I ever had. So now I'm off to the store in my old neighborhood. Just called them and they of course have all theses frames and sizers and are happy to do it for me. Not a LensCrafters of course. Please everyone avoid this store at all coast. read more

I went to LensCrafters to get both contact and eyeglass exams. I decided to purchase contacts, but not new glasses that day. Upon requesting my prescriptions, I noticed that the glasses exam didn't include my pupillary distance, which is necessary in order to purchase glasses. Upon asking, I was told that they wouldn't provide this to me if I wasn't buying glasses from them. Since I paid for an eye glass exam, I should receive all aspects of the prescription whether I am purchasing glasses or not. Let alone the fact that I purchased 3 months worth of daily contact lenses, which weren't cheap!! That is a very money hungry and dishonest practice. I won't be returning to LensCrafters for any future exams or contacts. read more

Really nice people, but this practice would benefit from being more punctual. I arrived when the store opened and the technician arrived late, so my appointment began 20 minutes late despite being the only person there (no apology). I made the first appointment of the day to avoid delays. It's a very nice office and group of people, so I would go back. I arrived on time for my appointment. They told me to have a seat. It's more than 30 minutes later and I have been completely ignored. Two other customers arrived after me and have been taken. I'm still sitting here, no apologies, no explanation. After 30 minutes, they finally came over to me and said their computer system is down. This is by far the greatest optometrist I've ever treated with. I'll never go anywhere else.

VERY DISAPPOINTING customer service. First I was told it would take a week to get my glasses back, then 2 weeks, and then that they were just "delayed". I was not given any alternative options. There is another LensCrafters location a few blocks away that does in-store lens replacement but nobody suggested that I go there instead. I have not had my glasses for 2 weeks now, I don't know when I will have them back, and did not have a choice in any of this. I will not be coming back to this store. read more

No update to the rating. They remain a 1-star shop. Two more weeks Have elapsed and I only just received one of the two pairs of glasses. The other prescription for my distance glasses has been MIA for four weeks, and no one at LensCrafters can tell me when I might ever see them again. Some woman who works there keeps screaming at me that it's not their fault that my prescription was done incorrectly (distance prescription in reading frames); that they lost my reading glasses after they texted me that they were ready for pick up (they tried to give me someone else's prescription); that they weren't able to find the reading glasses for over eight hours; and that after 4 weeks, my distance glasses are still nowhere to be seen. But this woman keeps screaming at me that it's not their fault. I trusted my glasses to the Lenscrafters at 2nd Ave. and 55th St. so if the prescriptions in the glasses are wrong, if the store isn't able to locate the glasses for 8 hours after I get a message to pick them up, if no one can tell me where the other pair of glasses is or when they will be ready, then exactly whose fault is all of that? Good customer service is clearly beyond the store's capacity. While I've been a customer of various LensCrafters for decades, I will not give THIS LensCrafters any future business. Another 24 hours has passed. And now the story is that they were lost in transit. To their credit I got the privilege of picking out one of their ugly pairs of glasses and a supposed refund of the lenses I had already paid for. Of course the people at the counter screwed up the refund which is taking the better part of an hour to resolve. Stay tuned. read more

Last year I came here for the first time and loved it. I have rigid contact lenses which aren't too common anymore but Dr Jasmine Irani worked tirelessly with me over a series of about 5 follow up appointments to get the right fit. LOVED her. I just found out that she moved away and doesn't practice in NYC anymore which was very sad news but I went back here today anyway to get updated prescriptions, etc. Walked in, no one says hello until several minutes later. I was asked by a very standoffish woman if I'd ever been here before to which I replied, yes, I had. She then said, "No, have you been to THIS location before." I replied again yes, I had - I lived nearby. She acted like I was a huge inconvenience and shuffled around "finding my chart" which she didn't actually locate. Then she asked me to fill out some paperwork - standard. But, as I was doing so, she was like "oh it'll be a wait there's people ahead of you now." I said I had a 2:20pm appointment and asked how long the wait would be and she said AN HOUR. She then acted like I was the bitch for thinking this was a little ridiculous. I asked why they wouldn't notify people if they are running that behind. Picking up the phone to call people who actually bothered to schedule appointments isn't that much to ask. The point of an appointment is that it be on time, with advance notice so that you can plan around it. If her attitude hadn't been so very shitty I would have nicely rescheduled and figured something else out. She never apologized, just said "well do you want to be seen today or not? There's nothing I can do, there's a wait." Don't work in a client facing role if you have no people skills. Very disappointed and will not be returning to this location ever again. read more

Found this location as it was close to my office. I have been ordering contacts from them for over a year and have had decent experiences. I order the contacts and they usually come within a day a two which is great since i usually put it off until the last minute. As of late they have been sending them straight to my apartment which also takes a day or two which is great! however- i ordered on a monday this time and was promised the contacts by thursday, so when i got home on thursday and they weren't there i was curious (they usually arrive the next day). I called the shop about 6:20 as i saw they were closing at 6:30 and figured i would just ask for a tracking number (as a person who works in customer service i know this is a simple task). The man who answered the phone- who always answers the phone and takes my orders claimed to be the janitor and that he could not help me. Incredibly unprofessional as i know he was fibbing so he wouldn't have to do extra work at the end of the night. 100% taking my business elsewhere- no time for rude unprofessional staff. read more

Flawless eye exam experience - would highly recommend! I had a mixed experience at another LensCrafters previously, so was a bit apprehensive trying out this location, but I am so glad that I did. Making an appointment was easy, the staff kept me informed via phone of a slight delay, and they were quick and efficient with checking me and and starting the first portion of the exam. The optometrist herself was friendly and provided just enough information so that I felt informed but not overwhelmed. She was open to questions and gave thoughtful answers (eg I asked about Lasik) that felt personalized. I just came in for an eye exam and didn't purchase frames/lenses here, so can't comment on prices, but the selection seemed plentiful. Overall, a great experience and kudos to the friendly staff! read more

Just OK. You would have thought I'd walked into a used car dealership. It's very salesy. I have an optometrist at home that I've been going to since I was 8, so I wasn't interested in doing a full exam, I just wanted an update on my prescription so I could order some new specs from the Bklyn Flea, and timing was an issue. I made this very clear to the desk guy (who was actually really nice). The doctor used scare tactics to try to get me to do the full exam there. Maybe she has a dilation quota she has to meet? It's Christmastime, and there's a bonus involved? I don't know, she was pretty relentless about it though. She was resentful when I kept declining, and she ended up being kind of irritating. In any case, when they weren't trying to intimidate me into a full exam, or hurling frames at me, they were actually quite efficient. And maybe, just maybe, if she had offered me a gently used, late-model Ford Escape... Anyway, lesson learned, don't mess around with this corporate retail crap, go support your local optometrist! read more

I've been going to Lenscrafters for almost 20 years. I used to think of them as the neighborhood optometrist, but lately they seem much more focused on sales, much less on quality. My last two pairs of glasses had defects, which never happened before. The staff pressures you into selecting the most expensive frames your insurance will cover, and constantly reminds you that for your insurance, you might as well "use it or lose it", an approach that makes them money but provides no benefit to the patient. Also, once you're in their system, they email you auto-created appointments without asking you, and offer no way to opt out or unsubscribe. I get that they're a business and have to make money, but in the past, it felt like they managed to balance the needs of their business with patient care and product quality. Now it's all about the money. I would suggest just going to a proper ophthalmologist now, if you can. On the plus side, I got so annoyed by their sales tactics that I went and got Lasik. Now I never need to go back. read more

I would highly recommend this location. They are very well organized and keep to your appointment to time. I got a very thorough and thoughtful exam by the doctor which immediately improved my contact lens vision, particularly close up, by leaps and bounds. I just started getting my eyes examined within the last 2 years and was recommended to see Dr. Jasmine Irani. She was awesome! I was having terrible eye strain and getting headaches from staring at a computer all day at work and she explained exactly why it was happening and what it was I needed. I went through that entire eye exam process and she even explained step by step everything she was checking and answered every question. She is absolutely amazing and I will absolutely be going back to see her for my check ups and anytime I need/want new frames. I came in on an afternoon that was not very busy, which was great for me because that means quick service. There were two ladies working who seemed to maybe be new hires or unfamiliar in the workplace, but they sent one of the guys from the back to help me. Even though I was told they were understaffed, they did a fabulous job accommodating me and helping me with my sunglasses, and even offered to clean the ones I had on that day. read more

My experience in the store and with the provider was fine- would give that 4-5 stars. However, I lost my prescription and called the store to get a new one sent to me. Call bounced over to voicemail and I left a detailed message. Having not heard back from them, I called the following day only to be told "I don't know whats wrong with the voicemail but we never get the messages. We've tried to have it fixed but it doesn't work. It's not us, its corporate." I was told they would scan a copy of the prescription and email it to me, followed by a phone call. I got a photo of the prescription and no phone call. Customer service wrong on so many levels. Hope no one ever leaves a message with a little more importance than mine, otherwise good luck:( read more

Dr. Irani, Optometrist and her General Manager, Kenya Dominquez are totally professional, thorough and really listened to me when I explained my latest eye symptoms. They addressed my needs and after my exam determined next best steps. I've had several glasses made here over the years and was going to get my next pair pair here as well. I went in today and explained I was going to have surgery in my right eye in three days and would then need a new pair of glasses in about a month. In the meantime, I explained, the present prescription was going to be completely wrong after surgery so I asked them to replace the right lens with clear glass for a few weeks until my eyes were ready for the new prescription. The answer was "no, we don't do that". I thought I was misunderstood and tried to explain it was just for a few weeks and plain glass but I was cut off by "the company doesn't do single lenses, we sell two lenses". Well good good for you, the place next door will be happy to help me knowing that 4 weeks later they are going to sell me expensive bifocals and a new frame. And all my future glasses because I'm certainly not going back to lens crafters. I'm giving two stars only because my previous experiences were alright. read more

I will never come back again! When I checked in, the assistant claim that there's only one contact eye exam which will charge me about $100 out of pocket after insurance, I asked her twice that the other lensCrafters I went only charge for $40. She insist that there's nothing she can do at the moment but I can call the insurance company after the exam. When I got home I called the insurance company, they said I was charged $100 because it was a premium exam! The standard will only charge for $40 out of insurance coverage. But I never asked for premium exam and the assistant said there is only one kind of exam! They cheated on the customer and tried to charge more money! read more

Came in here on a whim around noon and was out the door around 2pm with a sample pair of lenses. Dr. Irani was awesome and I felt comfortable with all the sales people here as well. Absolute worst customer service ever. They were unable to fit my contacts after 5 tries. When they finally got it right and I called to order the lenses they were going to order my old March 2017 Rx. When I pointed this out, the woman on the phone was exceptionally rude. The doctor cares. The service people truly do not. Long wait times for phone service and often inaccurate orders and diagnoses/fit. My take on this -- go see a real eye doctor who knows what they are doing This particular franchise has no quality controls. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Nancy Suan and Kendra (please excuse me if I messed the names up). Both were extremely nice and sweet. They were both very thorough with explaining every detail of my exam and my purchases so that I could fully understand the pricing. I can't stress enough of how nice these two people were. It made my experience very smooth and comfortable, especially since it my first time at this stores location. I was a walk-in, and asked if I could be seen anytime soon, and they answered yes. I entered at 1pm and was told I could be seen at 1:30pm. I was seen at 2pm. I asked if they could look up my insurance, as I didn't have the card with me. They said yes, and they proceeded to charge me $89 for the exam, though I've just discovered my copay should have been $10. They tried to push frames on me the entire time I waited, though I made it clear multiple times that I was only there for a contact exam, and had no plans to purchase frames that day. The doctor was pleasant, but I wouldn't trust any of the staff (I was passed around between multiple people) any farther than I could throw them. Update: Checked with my insurance company to figure out why the charge was so high. There Contact Exam is more than my insurance allowance (which they failed to mention) and they added a Retinal Imaging charge that wasn't covered on my plan at all. All in all, an incredibly disappointing experience. read more

I have long been skeptical of Lenscrafters but over a year ago I came into this one and met Dr. Suen and was very impressed by not only her, but all the people in the store. I have now gone to her twice and have had no issues. While I have not bought glasses from the store, I have made them my eye health place to go. I have never felt pressured to buy or rushed in any way. I think their equipment and technology really is top notch. I am happy to recommend this store and especially Dr. Suen! read more

I had the awesome pleasure of working with Maria and Dr. Nancy Suen. They were patient, kind and incredibly professional. Because I scheduled my appointment in advance, (4pm) when I came in, I waited less than 5 minutes and was immediately tested. Dr. Suen has a warm personality and she explained in detail what she was evaluating during each test. I talked about my trouble with reading small text at close distances and she patiently explained how my eyes were focusing on the text. She was thorough and she answered all of my questions. I never felt rushed and the entire exam took less than a half hour. Even when I kept indecisively asking her to flip between the two lens options to see which was clearer (during the test), she was super patient and genuinely so. It's difficult to find a doctor who has a great "bedside manner" as well as a deep knowledge about the specialty. Dr. Suen has both. I had great service with Dr. Jasmine Irani before and Dr. Suen continues the great service. Book your appointment with her - you will have a great exam. read more

Went to LC with pretty low expectations - just wanted to get my prescription for contact lenses renewed and be on my way. However, the service was unexpectedly great, with fast turnaround time and an impeccable check-up by Dr. Irani. She was warm, funny and very knowledgable, without being pushy: really a fantastic doctor! Even better, at the end of my check-up, they let me know they had a manufacturer's rebate on the contacts that actually made them cheaper than 1800! And they kept my lenses in stock. All in all, totally fantastic experience and I'll definitely be back to pick up a pair of frames. read more
