I came here to get my prescription put on my glasses... I came in with my glasses purchased somewhere else. This place is the absolute best... I got my glasses "fully loaded," like I like to call it and paid a fraction of the price that I have paid in other places. The staff here is very helpful and they listen to your needs. I dropped my glasses off and when they were ready, I received a phone call. They asked me to try the glasses on and make sure that everything was good and they even tightened the legs on the glasses for me when the young lady saw that the glasses were a little loose when I looked down. read more

I would not recommend American Vision Center located on Dyckman Street to my worst enemy. The facility needs to be trained on the HIPAA law. Proper customer service things NOT to DO i.e. hanging up the phone, mocking/laughing with coworkers initiated by the manage. The facility lacks Professionalism and knowledge. some workers there are very rude and nasty before the workers that were there were a bit nicer . I got a phone call from them on 4/29/23 at 5pm and I missed the call I called back and the gurl didn't even let me speak , she was very nasty to me and just told me that my glasses were ready , i tried asking her about my so as glasses and she said if we didn't call you for his that means it's not ready and hung up the phone on me . Alright not even exaggerating here but DO NOT waste your time and money coming to this place, these are 3 highlights of my wonderful bad experience in this place. 1- To be a place that is supposed to take care or your eyes' health the information and guidance when from none to confusing and even feeling sketchy and rushed. 2- I felt like they were focused more on me checking out and getting me out of the store than anything else, nobody ever asked if I had questions or concerns. 3- The only positive part of my experience was The Doctor (Clara Pascual) she was great but the rest of the staff you can tell that they just don't care or not even know how to provide good customer service. Steer clear of this place. The customer service is horrible and all the workers just hang out instead of actually working. There is only one doctor working and they overload the amount of patients, so prepare for a 2 hour wait. My insurance covers my contact eye exam and they tried to scam me and charge me $100 and when I said they were incorrect, they tried bargaining with me and said "okay we'll only charge you $50". What? I had to come back with my insurance policy paperwork which isn't my job. Professionalism is awful and whenever you ask questions they never know the answer and look at you like you have 10 heads. This place keeps changing management every few months so make sure to call ahead to confirm your insurance is accepted. read more

This place absolutely sucks! For the 2nd year in a row, they got my reading glass prescription wrong. I mean, how hard can it be to get prescriptions right when you "just" gave me an exam. The clincher is... I mistakenly gave them my original lenses along with the glasses that needed to be corrected. When I went to pick up my glasses, I expected to get my original lenses back with the corrected lenses. When i asked for them back, they said " oh we gave them back to you last week." Yeah right! I went to this store recently to take a basic eye exam for my driver's license application. The girls at the front helped me out as soon as I came in, the doctor I saw was pleasant, and the exam was done quickly. I can't speak to how the store handles customers with more pressing requests, but if you need an eye exam for your driver's license, this place is a good option. read more

I honestly don't know who anyone is in this establishment. The people never properly introduce themselves and every one is very rude. Every time I go in here I'm received with a lot of attitude from the supportive staff. I myself work in the medical field and am appalled every time I walk in here at the way that I am greeted, cared for, and handled, in regards to my questions or concerns. The only employees with customer service skills are the doctors but despite that, they only communicate to the support staff who in turn speak to you as all-knowing beings and the doctor just sits there hearing you struggle to be heard. However, once alone, during the exam, the doctors speak to you well and make you feel comfortable but it's usually already too late. Today, as I was trying to discuss my options with one of the receptionists, one of the techs (or another receptionist... I really could not say) starts answering from across the place with an attitude that made me feel like what I was saying was completely ludicrous and absurd. The doctor just sat there and in walked another receptionist/tech interrupting our conversation to discuss Halloween decorations. This place is beyond unprofessional and while they might've been the only optical place on Dyckman for a while, they no longer are. So if you can ignore this place, do. Go to Malik's optical. I've been going here for years and I have always felt uncomfortable as soon as I walked in. The vibe was never welcoming and the receptionists always have an attitude. The only employee who isn't terrible to be around and talk to is the doctor who gives the eye exams. I was unsure if I was being too sensitive until I went with my cousin today and she saw what I constantly experience. Since they are the only spot I've known for years, I kept coming. But my cousin convinced me to try a new spot and it was the best choice! I visited Malik's which opened up recently on Dyckman. The service was impeccable, even over the phone the girl was sweet and welcoming. The decor is gorgeous and aesthetic is perfect. And most importantly it made it very clear that I was not at all being sensitive or expecting too much from Rogot's. Malik's gave the service which is expected and deserved! I have mixed feelings about this place. I dropped in last September for an eye exam, and found the staff reasonably attentive and professional. The optometrist herself was also professional and pleasant. All well and good. But more recently? Not so much. Since the exam, I've made contact with a vendor in Indiana for a pair of custom reading glasses. The vendor needs to have a copy of my prescription on file, so last Friday I walked into Rogot to make the request. I could tell by the look of the woman at the front desk, almost immediately, that she was going to give me attitude. Just couldn't be bothered to do her job. (I've since determined that she was probably the office manager!) Bottom line, she refused to fax my prescription for me. Told me I would have to arrange for someone from the vendor company to make the request directly to Rogot, after which they would fax the prescription. Two days later, when I checked back with the vendor, I was told that Rogot wouldn't release my prescription to them without a written authorization from me (HIPPA compliance and all that). Which certainly seems reasonable and by the book - as one would expect. Except that this isn't at all what the woman at Rogot told me when I asked her, directly to her face, about the procedure for having my prescription faxed to the vendor. No mention of a signed form, or anything of the sort. So I marched right back there about an hour ago, and took care of the matter - this time for real (it had better be). A big deal? In the grand scheme of things, no of course not. But an absolutely unnecessary annoyance? You bet. Under the circumstances, why would I care to go back there again? There are several other optometrist shops, all within walking distance of my apartment, any one of which could be expected to render service that is at least as good as Rogot Optical. Called to schedule appointment - person who picked up phone was rude and dismissive. This isn't the first time the very ghetto staff has behaved in this manner, unfortunately they have gotten worse in the past 5 years or so. It's terrible when you try to continue to support a small business and the staff does it's best to make sure you'd rather go to the ends of the earth instead of dealing with them. read more

Just went for an eye exam yesterday and the entire staff was amazing. I came as a walk-in without an appointment and they took me with no problem. I've been to a few other places around the neighborhood and nothing compares to the professionalism of this place and they are way more affordable then any other place in the neighborhood. I was able to talk to my doctor and discuss everything I needed to know about my eye exams. I would Highly recommend. read more

I am new to the neighborhood and chose Rogot Optical for their efficiency and customer service. I had gotten something in my eye last month and they fit me in the same day. The optometrist was terrific. Then I ordered 3 pair of eyeglasses; our insurance only covered one pair. There were many good choices. I asked if I could use the frames I already had for 2 other pairs that needed replacement. That saved me a good deal of money. A staff member inspected the frames and said they were in good shape. The staff is sensitive to people's needs in these difficult times. I later needed adjustments to my glasses, and again, got great service. Caring, all-female staff. read more

This is the perfect place for wasting time, money or an insurance voucher while being treated horribly by staff that displays both disrespectful and pedestrian behavior! My first visit after a few years went well but the staff vented about "a stupid customer who left a bad review" and gave specifics about the situation and other "trashy customers just looking for an excuse to complain". They then requested that I leave a glowing review to offset the negative reviews they had just received. I ended up treating the staff to breakfast for working me into the schedule that morning due to a cancellation. I received a call about a week later informing me that my glasses were ready and I treated the staff to breakfast a second time. The right lens of my glasses began to pop out every few days after having them for about five months. I happened to be walking by so I quickly popped in to ask when would be a good time to bring in the glasses for repair and if I needed to schedule an appointment to do so. The older women at the front desk was extremely rude and condescending. She said she didn't understand why I didn't bring the glasses with me and that it would've made more sense had I done so. She spoke to me as if I was a child, rolled her eyes and was irritated by the conversation when I was being considerate of their time and schedule. On my way out of the store the second employee said "Have a great day" in an extremely sarcastic and petty way as they knew I was clearly upset. I then called to get information on how to have my glasses repaired, asked for the name of the disrespectful employee and to speak with the manager which is when I was informed that the highly curt and unprofessional woman I spoke with was actually the manager. I had to ask four times and was placed on hold twice before the employee would provide the manager's name and then put the manager on the line after telling me that they would call me back to have the glasses repaired or replaced after checking in with my insurance. The manager took zero ownership of her behavior and didn't remotely care that I was upset. She told me I was "wrong, treated very well and left satisfied". Naturally I requested a conversation and call from the owner and was told I would have to call back on certain days to try to catch the owner as they don't return calls requested by the customers. I went above and beyond to be generous, kind and understanding. I still have a pair of glasses that have not been repaired, I never received a call back about repairing or replacing the glasses as promised, nor did the owner bother to reach out. I am literally disgusting by the lack of class and professionalism of this staff and will never return. They clearly don't care about the retention of clients and will talk about you with other clients if you voice any concerns. They confirmed absolutely everything they told me were lies in the reviews and complaints they had received and it's truly a shame. Save yourself the headache of dealing with this business; there are too many options of professional and reliable optical services to deal with this horrible business! read more
