Complete scam. Avoid this location. Went in to get lens for new prescription. Had previously inquired at another LensCrafters location. But decided this one was more geographically convenient. Complete double talking salesman first gave me a price three times what the OTHER LensCrafters gave me. When I told him that, he asked me if I had a "picture" of what they proposed. I don't even know what that means. I also then pointed out that his price was now higher than Optyx and even Robert Marc. All LensCrafters use the same lab. The same materials. The same technology. Then, there was some issue with my insurance, VSP, claiming they needed some information that I know they don't actually need - since I've used it before - for me to apply it. Everyone is friendly but eyeglasses are quite expensive and when a not named here employee overheated my glasses while adjusting them and a few weeks later the plastic disintegrated from the metal on my ear piece, the best they would do is to give me a discount on my repair because my paid extended warranty had run out when they really should have fixed them for free. read more

Very disappointed in the extraordinarily poor service I received at this store regarding my insurance for an upcoming appointment. After what seemed like a dozen emails and texts from them over the course of a month to confirm my appointment, an hour before the appointment I received a text asking me to call the store about my insurance. I was told that they couldn't couldn't get authorization for the exam and that I had to call my insurance co. and find out why. I expressed extreme dismay that she waited until RIGHT BEFORE the exam to tell me this, since I wouldn't have time to reach my insurance company as well as travel there in time for the appointment. They could have contacted me about this any time over the past month. "We tried to call you earlier today and there was no answer." Um, nope, didn't get a call from you, and you texted me just now at that same number where you said you tried to call. I asked if they could make my appointment a little later in the afternoon. "We're fully booked today, sorry." I did call my insurance and they explained that I am covered for exams every 12 months, not once every calendar year, which I do understand. Why they waited until the last minute to check on this, and then lied about trying to call me, not at all cool. read more

My glasses are over 5 years old, and pretty well scratched up, but the prescription is fine. i went to LensCrafters because they were a block from my apartment. i walked in around 3:30, showed them my glasses, and asked if they could make new lenses based on my old ones. the gentleman said that the law stated that i needed an eye exam, but there was an appointment available at 4, so i waited. in the meantime i picked out 4 different frames so i would be ready to go. at 3:50 my phone pinged with a form to fill out for the exam. at the bottom of the form was a box to check which gave them the right to use my personally identifiable information. i asked why they would need that, and they sent out someone who said it was only for their personal needs. when i pointed out that "share" doesn't mean it's for your own needs, and i showed him all the places where their disclosure form said they could send my info, and he shrugged. at that point i walked out, went to Cohen's Fashion Optical a block away, and , lo and behold, they could make lenses from my old glasses with no examination. gee, i wonder what happened to that law? Seems like someone is pulling a scam to a) get you to pay for an exam, and b) sell your information, or worse. i would steer clear unless you already have a prescription. read more

I have a very old pair (over 20 years) of Oakley Razor sunglasses which had two broken stems but were otherwise in perfect condition. While I was unable to buy stems from Oakley either online or in-stores, I was able to find two available stems. I bought them and then was reluctant to "snap" them in place as it required pressure and "how-tos" online suggested heating them. I wrote to Oakley online, and the representative suggested I taken them to LensCrafters. I took the glasses to LensCrafters in Columbus Circle in New York City and they were able to attach both stems. It was not easy for them, but they were successful and the plastic stems did not break even with the "snapping" in place. I am very grateful and appreciative that employees at the store went out of their way to help me. read more

I made an appointment for an eye exam with Dr. Yumiko Sawai. As I was on my way to the appointment and 10 minutes away from the store, I received a call cancelling the appointment with no reason. They were unable to provide me with another appointment at the location and told me to call another store to find an appointment. Very poor and unreliable service. I like this place, even if it's a kind of expensive, although on par with the last eye place I went to. The good things about this place are: -Everyone is very nice -The doctor I saw was super. (Dr. Lee) Really made sure I had the right prescription. Got a pair of glasses and contacts and even though the first contacts were good, the second pair were even better! -Prices are typical for places I've been. My eye insurance is a joke so I just pay retail. They had some frames in the $100-150 range and I got a pair of those. The glasses came in two days and the contacts took a week. It's easy to set up an appointment online and they are good about texting you and reminding you. I would definitely recommend this place. Service was always fast and friendly. read more

I went to LensCrafters for my exam and looking for new pair of glasses. The doctor was super nice and she guide me the best way. The sales rep whose name is Rebeca, was so nice and helpful for finding me the right glasses. The only thing that would be better, they should know about what they hav it in their stock and where is it. Before I came for my eye exam, I called the I asked the model I like and they could not fined it even what glasses they sale it on their websites. I compared LensCrafters with Rotherham places the prices are really good. Definitely I may go there and look for another pair of glasses. read more

This store is in my neighborhood so I've tried supporting it and would love to be able to write a great review, but unfortunately I've had too many unpleasant experiences interacting with the staff and the manager. Many of the staff have been rude to the point of been offensive. They've made mistakes with the information they've provided and are then aggressive when I've tried to talk to them about it. I struggled to find out when my glasses were ready, and the staff was dismissive and unresponsive when I tried collecting them. I've been in for subsequent adjustments to my frames and felt I was being accused of wasting their time. The manager is either unresponsive or aggressive and insulting so she seems to be encouraging a toxic atmosphere. Unfortunately the rest of my family has had the same experience, so it hasn't been an isolated incident. I feel awful just thinking about the store. There are other stores which aren't too far away, the best advice I can give is to stay away from this one. read more

Most unhelpful. I came to them with a pair of glasses with a broken frame and asked to see frames into which the lenses could be inserted. The clerk insisted that this was impossible. She claimed that the lenses had been made for the unique frame that I had and that it must be duplicated from the same manufacturer. In fact, when I went to another optician three blocks east and south of them, within minutes I was shown four different frames into which my lenses would fit! I was misinformed about a product that you carry by an associate. I was told that the pro plastic is better than the regular plastic and you cannot get scratches on it. When I came back the pregnant lady (who didn't seem to wanna be at work) told me that it's only anti shatter! So why would that be worth $50 extra. That girl who works Friday afternoon is good at her job that she almost upsold me, not so good for not being patient enough to get a yes before you leave to help the next client. read more

I have been visiting LensCrafters on 1804 Broadway for many years now. I would highly recommend this location. I keep going back because the staff are really knowledgeable, helpful, and will not recommend glasses/sunglasses that do not suit my face. I also enjoyed the visit with the last two optometrists that assisted me with my prescription. I would further like to let the LensCrafters managers know that past employee Jonathan was excellent at his job. I had purchased seven sunglasses/glasses for my family members and me over the past two years with his assistance. When visiting early last year, I had asked Jonathan to help me pick new frames and told him that I wanted to be pushed out of my comfort zone a little. He did an excellent job of picking frames that worked well with my face shape, and my family and friends loved the new look. read more

I'll admit, I wasn't too impressed with this location. I made my appointment there simply because it was so close to Columbus Circle, but don't plan on returning. I arrived about five minutes early for my appointment, but had to wait a little over a half hour...delays happen, but there was no acknowledgment or apology for the long wait. The initial part of the exam where they measure your depth and color perception, etc are done in the back of the store instead of a separate room, so it's a little odd to sit in a dark corner while everyone is shopping for their frames. When I finally was seen by the doctor, she was perfectly nice but it was clear there'd been no communication between her and the staff that did the initial exam. Many questions had to be answered twice, and the folder containing my information was apparently lost and I had to fill out some forms again. When telling her of a severe allergic reaction I'd had to a certain brand of contacts (which involved several doctors and months of treatment to heal), she said it sounded like I just hadn't handled the contacts correctly and it was probably my fault. Um, no. I've worn contacts for years and I was insulted that she'd shrug off that allergic reaction to me just not changing my contact solution or something. Bottom line, there is no incentive for me to return here, and no real reason for me to recommend it either. read more

Came it last week because the nose guard on my sunglasses broke. Everyone in the store was super friendly. This guy took a look at my glasses, said he would replace both sides so they still matched. From the moment I walked in, the whole experience took less than 5 minutes. "Here you go man. Have a great weekend," he said as he handed my shades back to me. "Thanks. What do I owe you?" I asked. "No charge," he replied as though that were the only possible answer. NO CHARGE?!?! I felt like a celebrity or a super hero. I almost wished I wore prescription glasses so I could patronize that business more frequently. read more

This place is a ripoff. Upon first visit, they tried to change me for special eye exams not covered by insurance. I had to ask a hundred questions before they admitted that it was an optional exam. Then I was fitted for contacts which ended up being priced at 85 dollars a box- yeah right, I'm not paying that amount when I've never needed to pay over 40 for a box before. I ended up not liking the expensive trial pair anyway and switched back to my last set of contacts from my old perscription. When I came in two months later to order new contacts, I was told they could only give me the expensive pair and they wouldn't arrive for a week even after I told them I was having some pain in one eye from my current pair and need a new set ASAP. They told me they couldn't help me, I told them I'd go elsewhere. Well, I tried to order contacts elsewhere bit I couldn't because they cashed in on my insurance benefit for the lenses I never ordered. I called them and once again asked to just recieve a different set- ASAP since I was in pain. They told me I would need to make a full appointment for a 5 minute fitting and that nothing was available until mid afternoon the next day. I told them that I'd take the damn appointment since I don't want to go blind but I'd be damned if I ever set foot in there again. So now I have to take sick time because I work in CT and the doctor needs to fit me for a cheaper pair of contacts from the same maker - this sounds like a complete waste of time, my eye measurement hasn't changed - before I can get the set they already changed my insurance for. I am totally disgusted. read more

I think the customer service is friendly enough -- they asked me if I had been taken care of when I went in for an appointment. I think the eye exam could have gone better, seeing as it was done by a tech and not the doctor at the back of the store, out of the way. Kind of weird. I did like that I could browse all the frames on my face without having them locked away in glass cases (yes, seriously.. some high end places take themselves too seriously). read more

The first time I visit this branch was three years ago when I was initially fitted for contacts. It took me nearly 2.5 hours to get the danged things in. The staff was not only helpful but extremely patient with me. They suggested multiple techniques and support with my frustrations. I just went back for the third time and as always, had a wonderful experience. Dr. Thobani and the staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I just got new frames and I'm absolutely obsessed with them. The Dr. and staff helped me break down my insurance policy so that I could make the most educated decision on where and how to spend my money. I am so appreciative for my positive experiences here as I actually look forward to my yearly appointment. Go figure. read more

I went in for an eye exam and they told me my insurance wouldnt cover until a year later. Went back in and had they double check and they were wrong. Then, they took a week to make my glasses and when they did, the prescription was wrong. Had to wait a whole extra week. Now fast forward months later I can't get my prescription which I need urgently because they are closed for renovation and didn't leave my files with any other locations. The lady who helped me helped me reluctantly and showed it. She haphazardly did an adjustment to the nose pieces and seemed irritated that I pointed out they were uneven (obviously uneven I might add). She adjusted it again barely looking at them and I just took them. I thanked her for her assistance and left.
