Came for my annual eye exam. My appointment was for 5:40 and stared right on time. I had a moments wait and was brought to the exam room by staff. I did pay extra for pictures of my eyes, instead of going for dilation. The price difference was around 40 dollars but worth it in my opinion. They took me to the exam room where the doctor saw me. Quick exam and the doctor was very helpful. She explained the difference in my prescription since my last visit in a way I could easily understand. Did not get my glasses here this year, as I did last year and it was way over budget. read more

Store staff was very professional, helpful, and courteous. However, once you leave it's a different story. Glasses supposed to be in within 7-10 days. Well, we are over that now and they have no clue on when they will be in. What good is having a good instore experience, if the results suck? Also, good luck getting through to talk to someone on the phone. 9 times out of 10 your call will not go through because "everyone is tied up with other customers". I am disappointed I gave them a chance and they treated ME like I'm the cheap one. They are like a bad 'fashionista' who treats you like you're 'basic' when all the while they are carrying a fake Prada bag. I visited LC in hopes of getting a pair of single-vision, affordable lenses for use as computer glasses. I wanted to use my existing frames, which I've had for some time and really still love. The optometrist who wrote up the order was friendly and respectful-I would go back to her. She was very accommodating about making sure she could get lenses in my frames and I'd be happy. After I left the store, I wondered whether my new lenses would have blue light protection and, if not, what the additional cost would be to add it. The LensCrafters' website presents the BLUE LIGHT treatment as "ADD BLUE LIGHT FILTERING WHEN COMPLETING YOUR LENS". The step before that is "SELECT A LENS". This certainly seems like a treatment/coating added to the lens. I called the store and spoke with ******. He was immediately annoyed with me for not knowing the specifics of blue light vs UV vs coating vs lens additives, etc. First, he told me I had no idea what I was talking about as it is not a 'coating' it is a special type of lens. I apologized for not knowing the technicals of his industry and explained once again I was simply looking for computer glasses and wanted to know what it would take to get those. Annoyed, he jumped on me saying, "there ARE no 'computer lenses' there are only lenses that can be used for computer work, among other things! Do you understand?!?" I explained that the larger application of their lenses, beyond my own needs, wasn't really important to me (nor relevant to my request)-I simply called to discuss my own order, my own prescription, and my own purchase, and find out what my options were. I was looking for guidance, not shaming. He huffed and puffed and finally looked at my order, saying, "you ordered BASIC plastic lenses (note these run $149). Then he transferred me to an unknown girl who very abruptly told me the $390 blue light lenses were obviously out of my price range since I had used my insurance to pay for the BASIC plastic lenses. When I picked up my glasses today I was handed the frames inside a LC drawstring bag. They were not taken out for me, cleaned off before handing to me, nor checked on my face. I realize I brought my own frame in, but as they handled that frame in order to place their BASIC $149 plastic lenses in it, you'd think they would at least, as a courtesy, make sure they were sitting on my head correctly. It was obvious I was being 'punished' for not buying a frame from them ("your frame, your problem!"). It's frustrating to be treated like this as a paying customer. They effectively shame people for not spending more for cheap products, pretending we don't see that they're cheap in the first place. I honestly do not understand how LC is still in business. I guess it's situations like mine-I needed glasses fast and my own more reputable optometrist was closed that day. read more

Sad story, really. I used to know the manager of the Lenscrafters in Eastview Mall, and used to use Lenscrafters exclusively for my eyewear when I needed glasses (that's another story). I learned (the hard way, is there any other way?) that, like the car dealers, Lenscrafters likes upsell customers to higher margin products like "high index" lenses, anti-glare, Crizal etc. etc. These add-ons to a glasses order will bring the total cost to a much higher level. While I understand that multifocal lenses cost more than ones for single vision, the straw that broke the camels back (for me) was when my 20 year old son needed replacement lenses for his frames... they 1) gave him the wrong prescription 2) made him revisit the store three times 3) Oversold him hook , line and sinker. The resultant mess left him with a pair of glasses that didn't fit or feel right. Since he was just about to head back to college (over six hours away), we sped over to Empire Vision with his (corrected) prescription and picked up a pair of their $69.95 glasses. Not only were they a better fit, the lenses they used ( the non-fancy non-high index non-featherweight lenses) were actually better than those used by Lenscrafters. Bottom line? Lenscrafters ain't what they used to be, at least for this family. Perhaps it's a telling sign (literally) that there WAS a sign posted at the store stating "Optometrist Wanted". read more

Some of the staff were very helpful. My glasses prescription for distance was not correct so I had to go back for a second eye exam. Then my $500+ progressive glasses arm broke off while I was in vacation in Florida. I called and was told by Mike on Monday, 2/13/22 that I did not purchase the warranty so I had no coverage. I replied "I have a 2-year warranty. He said "oh, did you get rimless frames?"...so he was allegedly looking in my account after asking my name and contact info...now all of a sudden they can order a new pair of glasses and frames. He was short and rude the entire conversation as if I was interrupting his break or something. I followed up today by phone and Mike answered the again. I politely reminded him we had spoken this past Monday and asked if he had an eta of when my glasses would be ready. He said "we haven't called you yet, so obviously we don't have them." At this point I asked to speak with his store manager and told him I didn't appreciate his snarky comments. He said there no one to speak with...whatever Mike...here is my 1 star review... read more

Made appointment for an eyeglass prescription appointment. They adverstise this as a "walk-in" service on their website. Ran 15 minutes late for appointment, but called because my transportation was running late to make sure they were cool with my tardiness. They said it would be fine if I were a little late. Upon arrival, I was informed the doctor was on lunch and would not see me. Guess what? I spent five hours traveling back and forth to their location, after calling to make sure it would be okay if I was late, and received nothing. The individual employee with the Russian accent treated me in a manner that made me feel small and unimportant. Apparently, since a conglomerate in Italy appropriated Lenscrafters and assorted other major eyewear companies in the US, the local store is free to take liberties regarding their attitude towards their customers. Stopped by to browse frames recently per the suggestion of the store associate at the Greece Ridge location. I was told that Eastview has a larger selection of brands comparative to what is shown on their website. Upon entering I noticed that the store was extremely busy. There were people browsing the frame selection, waiting to be helped and others exiting their scheduled eye exams. All of this was happening on a random Wednesday. Given that my visit occurred midweek, I can't even begin to imagine the weekends. Minimal interaction with staff. Frame selection was great. Would venture back here again, but only during a less busy timeframe. read more

I stopped by tonight to browse frames so I could make an appointment. We waited out in the mall area, as instructed by the sign, because of covid. Understandable. When the female associate came to ask if she could help us, I asked if I could browse frames. She said, "We close at 7, so NO." I understand it was close to closing time, ( I wouldn't have stopped if the hours were clearly posted, but they weren't that I saw). And, I have no issue with not being allowed in so close to closing, my issue is HOW she said it and the tone she used. A simple, "I'm sorry, we're closing in a few minutes," would have sufficed and I wouldn't have thought anything of it. So, I won't be going there to get my exam, frames and contacts. Lenscrafters has been my choice of eye care provider, but It's not WHAT you say, it's HOW you say it. First impressions are important to me. I can't believe I'm still waiting for resolution on this issue!! LensCrafters Eastview mall still has not provided restitution on a damaged pair of glasses they broke ! They tried to place the blame on us by saying it was "at our own risk" ; but they never provided that information upfront before we requested them to be fixed or we may have made a different decision !!! I have always had great experience with LensCrafters in other cities, this particular store in Eastview mall is the worst and I will not be returning. I ordered a pair of prescription glasses 3 weeks ago. When I was at the store, they told me it would take 5 business days. 1 week went by I had to call them to followup, they later told me it takes 10 days. it's been 3 weeks and they have not called me. I had to call them multiple times within the last few days and no one would pick up the phone. When someone finally did and had to look up my order, he hung up on me. I went to Lenscrafters in Eastview mall, in February 2016. I found out that day, that I was almost blind in my right eye. I knew I needed a new prescription but I had no idea, that my vision was basically gone. I do not go around testing one eye or the other at home. I was devastated. I was very upset and emotional. They called in two different Eye Drs to check the readings because they could not believe that the eyes were so different. It was confirmed. The eye was so bad, they could not give me a prescription strong enough, but sold me trifocals for my "good" eye. The word cataract was never said. I was never offered hope. Today, I found out that I have stage 4 cataract, in the eye and am likely a good candidate for corrective surgery. I know that Lenscrafters likely cannot do that type of corrective surgery. Why would I not be offered hope, why did no one say to me, you have cataract, that is correctable, go see a cataract surgeon? I would only go here, if I KNEW that I had no serious eye problem and if I enjoyed being pressured into expensive glasses, and many additional features that are not helpful for anyone but Lenscrafters. I ONLY gave them 1 star because 0 or a negative number was not an option. read more

My prescription is a difficult one to fill and I came in after having failed to find frames to fit me at three other stores (not Lenscrafters). However, I was quickly able to locate two pairs of frames at the Eastview Mall location that fit well and were attractive. Because of my complicated prescription, my lenses had to be made off site and would take several days. That's fine, because that is the same no matter where I go for glasses. When the glasses came back, there were problems with both pairs. I was initially frustrated and had one set returned to be fixed and decided to have the other set refunded. However, after speaking with customer service and explaining my dissatisfaction, I received a very kind response from Dr. Sementelli. He took personal care of my order and put his best Optician, Nate, in charge. By the end, I had two lovely pairs of glasses and I can see clearly, without straining. I am impressed by the commitment and effort that was made to resolve the problems and win my satisfaction. They literally did not stop until all was made right with my order. read more

My mother was visiting from Canada, broke her frames, wanted to see if she could find a similar frame that could fit her expensive lenses. "Oh no, ma'am, that's impossible, you would have to have the exact frame and they don't make these anymore. It just can't be done." Took her around the corner to Pearle Vision. Last time I went to LensCrafters I waited 40 minutes to be seen sitting in a chair while they apologize to me occasionally about having to wait. I never complain just sat patiently and waited for my turn. Today I had a scheduled appointment and made a wrong turn I was 15 minutes late. I promptly received a phone call from LensCrafters telling me that they were unable to see me today. This is completely unexceptionable and I will never go back again. My dogs chewed my glasses I have been without them for three days I was desperate for this appointment they could care less, extremely disappointed. read more

If I could rate this place lower than 1 star, I would. The lowest level of professionalism and customer service is something I was completely taken aback by. On more than one occasion not only was my eye exam subpar, but also my frame fitting and front desk experience. As far as my most recent experience, I was surprised to learn that the person I was working with was the store manager ! He made me feel like I was a crazed and unintelligent customer. Telling me that he had my prescription verified and it's the same as my other glasses. It's not. They're the same frames and everything. But the lenses were not the same, just not. Past experiences have had me driving 40 minutes to arrive and find out they misplaced my contacts or that they had never arrived. A 'super rush order' shouldn't take 15 business days when a regular order always took 4-5..... Bottom line, this particular LensCrafters is utter chaos led by people who partially know what they're doing as far as customer service standards and general vision care. read more

Helpful staff though some are a bit under-trained (I was delayed an additional 45 minutes waiting for medical records to be faxed when I observed a staff member take their printer/fax/copier offline for printing due to not knowing how to operate the machine to make a copy) On the plus side - even though they have policies in place that prevented me from being able to utilize them, the staff member that helped me was very helpful in directing me to where I could be best served - which worked out exceedingly well in the end. Terrible experience. I normally see my long-time family eye doctor in Brighton, but my vision benefits are better at LensCrafters, so I decided to give them a try. After three separate visits, I ended up returning my glasses to avoid more hassle. At my first visit, I had scheduled an appointment with a specific doctor based on reviews (Dr. Sementilli), but was told I'd be seeing someone else instead (Dr. Kim) with no reason given. This was the first red flag. During my exam, the first person who helped me was clearly ill (feverish, sweating, coughing). I have autoimmune issues and that made me uneasy. Second red flag. The doctor was soft spoken and didn't speak clearly. I repeatedly had to ask him to clarify what he said. My entire appointment lasted all of 12 minutes and I was billed $59. After the exam I chose my frames and waited to check out. I didn't realize until after the exam that the doctor had written in a minor astigmatism correction. My long-time family doctor has never written astigmatism in my prescription because my eyes just don't adjust properly, and I definitely would have brought that up during the exam. When I tried to explain that to the sales lady, she absolutely insisted on making the lenses like that anyway, despite my pleads against it. Third red flag. She said I would have to try the glasses for two weeks and if I still wasn't happy I could come back and see the doctor again, for another $59 charge. Yikes. I very reluctantly agreed and purchased the glasses. When I returned a few days later to pick them up, I put them on and immediately noticed something was wrong. I told the optician, Nate, that I was seeing double and something was not right. I told him I don't want the astigmatism correction. He told me that I was right, the prescription was wrong, laughed, and said a lot of people never adjust to it and that "I would definitely be back to complain." Fourth red flag. I then left with the glasses. I tried wearing them for several days but just could not adjust to them. They were definitely wrong. I returned again and saw a different optician who said the prescription was indeed wrong, said he couldn't believe it, mumbled something to himself, and then said that I needed a "re-check" with the doctor. He then handed me off to the same lady that initially insisted I wear the glasses as written. She attempted to schedule another appointment with the doctor for the recheck. I asked "so just to confirm, I'll need to see a doctor again, and then come back again after that to pick up the glasses?" She said yes. I explained that I can't drive and live far away, and it's a bit of an inconvenience to make several separate trips. I asked if there was a doctor that could see me then, and she said no they were booked. So rather than take a gamble on at least two more visits here, I told her I'd rather just return the glasses and avoid the hassle. I was given a refund and left, and will not return again. It's a shame too because my benefits are amazing, but unfortunately you get what you pay for. Now I'm out $59 and have to pay for another exam by my regular eye doctor. TL;DR: Avoid this place at all costs. Two different opticians admitted my prescription was written wrong by the doctor, yet their only resolution was to make me do another exam and bill me for another visit. No thanks. It should not take five (or more) visits to get the correct pair of glasses. And a proper eye exam should last longer than 12 minutes. read more

I feel a little like Charlie Brown with the football with this particular Lens Crafters store, They "used to be" consistent and responsive and I feel like I have gone back looking for what simply no longer exists at this location. The customer service is terrible at an almost embarrassing level, the prescriptions seem to be almost random whether they will be correct or not and getting your leg humped to try and upsell you is not a service oriented approach by any means. I could laboriously recount the failures of this keystone cops ensemble but it feels like it would just be piling on to what is apparent ... and sad. This is really no place to go for exam or eyewear, not if you would like it done well, and I want it to not be that way .... just say no. read more

I visited the Victor, NY LensCrafters location on February 26, 2019...I had the first appointment of the day at 10:00 and was there for 2 1/2 hours! 2 1/2 hours...that is so ridiculous...and the waiting area was filthy...dirt and huge clumps of dust under every chair...disgusting! I will admit my exam with Dr. Semenelli was good however it is clearly all about sales at the Victor, NY store...and there seemed to be many hidden fees that I don't recall being told about. Interesting that what my insurance says they cover and what LensCrafters will tell you your insurance covers are quite different! Then to top it off the store manager Astara told me if I ordered a year's supply of contact lenses I would automatically be given $ 100.00 cash rebate...of course that was another lie. You are given a rebate slip ( that had expired a month earlier ) that you can submit once your order is delivered...so another trip to the store to get a new " current " rebate slip was a complete waste of time as I was given the same rebate slip as before that was expired. I wonder how many other customers they passed these expired rebate slips to! So weeks went by and I stopped in again to see if they had any current rebate slips...bingo I got it! And I also confirmed with the store manager Astara again that I would be getting a $ 100.00 cash rebate as she had promised on my first visit, she then stated she " thought " it would be a $ 100.00 Visa gift card. While I was there I also noticed countless forms with patient/customer information strewn about the counter for all to see...so much for any privacy! And then cashing in the " virtual " gift cared proved to be as difficult as even getting it...it was impossible to do online...I called for assistance on 3 different occasions and heaven forbid you get an operator that you can understand...or that will listen to you instead of constantly talking over you or interrupting you. And to make matters worse it was only an $ 80.00 virtual gift card that they encouraged you to use either for a donation or to buy more items from LENSCRAFTERS! I was finally ( with much difficulty ) able to use my virtual gift card for something outside of their company and was thrilled to be done with LensCrafters forever...I will seriously NEVER return there and I would definitely discourage anyone else from ever going there! read more

Do not use this particular LensCrafters for your eye care needs. They are very disorganized, and have failed to provide expert care in my opinion on three occasions now. I made an appointment for an eye exam and a lens fitting for contacts online, the appointments were confirmed through email and a phone call on the day before the appointment. When I arrived, I had to wait, which was not a big deal, as I understand Dr's office's often fall behind, however the woman who helped me was so on Auto-Pilot that when I was trying to ask a question or answer one of hers, she completely ignored me and continued on with her script. After later interactions with her, I found that this is how she always operates, and it is extremely frustrating and not helpful at all. She then informed me that I was going to have to come back a different day for my contact lens fitting even though I had one scheduled for that day and time. I will say the Dr's both were very personable and thorough, which was the only redeeming factor for this review, however I only interacted with them for approximately 10 minutes in total. I was told that they were going to have to order my trial contacts and I would get a call when they were in. 4 weeks went by!!! I finally called, and found that they never ordered the trials! 2 more weeks went by and I was called and scheduled an appointment for the following day to have a lens fitting. Mind you, I have been wearing these same contact lenses for 14 years, and did not need to have a fitting as nothing about my prescription changed from the previous 4 years! When I arrived for my second appointment, they could not find my chart, even though I spoke on the phone with them the day before and they were supposedly looking at it. I waited for 45 minutes, when I needed to go back to work, for a fitting that I did not need to have, and saw the dr for 2 minutes to check the fit. I once again had to interact with said robot lady and was extremely frustrated by the time I was ready to leave. They placed my contact order in my cart supposedly so that I could call back and order them when my Flex Account money came through. When I called back, they could not find my chart, or my order in their system and had to call me back in order for me to place my order. Said robot lady also answered the phone during this process and could not provide me with any answers to my questions because it was not in her script. It has been nothing but a headache dealing with this LensCrafters, which is very disappointing as I have used other LensCrafters in the past with wonderful results. read more
