When I went in for a consult, I was unfortunately not a good candidate for LASIK. Dr. Feinerman suggested another procedure called EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) that I was a good fit for. Despite the higher cost compared to LASIK, I was totally on board. I scheduled my surgery appointment afterwards and I was given instructions on how to prepare for the procedure (I had to put eye drops in beforehand). The surgery center Dr. Feinerman used was in Tustin (Barranca Surgery Center). I had a very early appointment and I didn't have to wait too long. The procedure took what felt like 10 minutes, but could have been way longer (the anesthesia worked like a charm!). I had my sister drive me home, there is no way you should try to drive yourself home after getting this done!! Immediately after the surgery, my vision had a noticeable improvement, with sensitivity to light. Over the next 3 months, my vision stabilized and I don't have dry eyes as often anymore. Dr. Feinerman and his entire team were a pleasure to interact with. Totally recommend this place!!

While a lot of plastic surgeons can do these, it was suggested to me to see an ocular specialist. I don't expect surgeons to be perfect but Dr Liu is about as close to that as you'll find. From the initial visit, you can tell how meticulous and knowledgeable she is. What I also appreciated and respected was her honesty, transparency and tastefulness. I had wanted an outcome that couldn't be achieved solely from addressing the eyelid tissue but because of my Asian heritage, I learned it was an eyebrow tissue issue that could only be addressed by also going into the eyebrow area. I am guessing there are surgeons who would have reassured me and told me what I wanted to hear that the scarring on the eyebrow area would be minimal and almost non visible. Dr Liu was upfront about the range of scarring possibilities and while optimistic, she gave a genuine and realistic response so that I could make the right decision for me. I wasn't looking for a transformational outcome but rather a return to a more naturally rejuvenated look. The 3 hr surgery went smoothly and Dr Liu came by afterwards to reassure me of that and that I am a bruiser and sweller which would have been very concerning ( because I looked like I got into a car accident) had Dr Liu not stated that my recovery should not be impacted by that. She couldn't have been more right. It was amazing how quickly I healed and how painless it was ( I never had to take a single pain med while doing EVERY post op care by the book). And I appreciated the Dr and the office staff so much for always responding to my nervous Nelly questions along the way. My husband is happy because I still look exactly like how he has always seen me and, I am grateful for being able to go makeupless without feeling as self conscious about the big bags underneath my eyes anymore. One last but not least comment is for the office staff. Jennifer in particular is very type A - just like I want her to be because 1) she was smart enough to schedule me at a top notch surgery center that was less expensive than the others 2) she walked through step by step my pre and post op prep and care instructions rather than just provide the "sheet" for me to interpret myself 3) she sent numerous well received reminders for all my appts so that I wouldn't forget 4) she responded to all my many texts quickly so i wouldn't worry. I left work early specifically to attend this appointment, driving all the way from Aliso Viejo to Newport Beach. To my surprise, after asking for my ID and insurance card (PPO, by the way), they handed me a form requiring authorization to keep my credit card on file and approve charges of up to $699 for the remainder of the year for any copays, procedures, or additional services. This was my very first visit. I have one of the best PPO insurance plans and work for a major corporation, yet they still tried to make me sign a form authorizing charges of up to $699 for the rest of the year before I was even seen by the doctor. Nothing guarantees that I would continue treatment with this office after a first consultation, so asking patients to preauthorize future charges like this feels completely unethical and predatory. Patients should be aware of these policies before wasting their time, leaving work, and driving long distances for an appointment. Stay away from this place. In my opinion, this office is more focused on money than patient care.

The administrative policies also feel excessive compared to other medical offices I've visited. Requiring a credit card on file and prepaying copays before appointments is unusual and adds unnecessary stress to an already difficult process of managing healthcare.
