Please understand that this is a review of the Santa Ana location ONLY. It does not reflect on the great care I've got from other Tayani locations for many years. I visited the Santa Ana location, got an eye exam, but forgot to ask for my prescription. It's Federal Law that you be provided with your prescription in writing at the time of your exam WHETHER YOU ASK FOR IT OR NOT. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now I can't get my prescription. They rarely answer the phone. When I did talk to somebody they said they can't send me my prescription.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead, I was told that I had to create an account in the "patient portal" to get my prescription.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I created my account but my prescription can't be found. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's an "ask a question" feature but when I submitted a question it said there was an "error" and I needed to "try again later".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then I tried getting hold of the Santa Ana location but calls just go to voicemail although I'm calling during their posted business hours.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They need to be reported for non-compliance to the law. read more

I love Dr. Berke!!! Tayani Institute, on the other hand is horrible. I had a routine visit to update my glass Rx and was not provided the prescription at that time on 2/28/2026. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told a link would be sent to my email. Well lo and behold their system was not working an I could not retrieve it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I finally got a copy 3/5/2026 only to take it to fill for new glasses and the prescription was not complete, it was missing my progressive Rx. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have not been calling and leaving messages daily since 4/4/2026 and only got one call back and they said they would resend the link and when i logged into their portal there was NO attachment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Today is 10/10/2026, still no reply from Tayani.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] NOTE: federal law requires eye doctors to provide a copy of your eyeglass prescription immediately after an exam, regardless of whether you ask for it. This is the Santa Ana office only.I been a patient with Dr Burke for years. My whole family comes here. It's this last visit that I am very upset with. I spent an around $ 1,000 on 5 pair of glasses with my insurance. I have never spent this much here.My glasses were ready for pick up and they didn't have the tint I wanted. So I had to wait for this to be done. Then my daughter's glasses were ready as they said but hers did have the tint on them also.from her appointment 3/21/26to today's date 4/8/26 are not ready still. I took my $600 frames here in January to have a prescription filled from my eye dr. 3 weeks later they called to say my glasses are ready. When I tried on my glasses I could not see a thing like it was some else's prescription. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He tried to tell me I would have to get used to it. I've been wearing trifocals so I know how it works. These glasses I could not see out of[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. After insisting, he said he would send them back to the lab. Several weeks later, they are supposedly ready. I find out the prescription was put in sideways. Back to the lab. Then they forgot to add the transitions and I still couldn't see out of one of the lenses. This went on back-and-forth until October when I decided since I'm getting headaches from wearing the wrong prescription and they also damaged my glasses that I've had enough. I asked them to just refund me and I'll take my prescription somewhere else. They tell me it's been too long since I started this process so they won't refund it. Now it's time for my annual vision check up. I find out I have permanent damage in one eye from wearing the wrong prescription for so long and then I found out Tayani not only charged me out if pocket over $300+ , but they double dipped and took my vision benefit out too. So now I can't get my prescription filled anywhere else and have to wait until new benefits come next year. Meanwhile they are refusing to refund anything and I'm suffering with debilitating migraines and having a difficult time seeing. Please do not use the place! read more

I took my son here to do Ortho-K here because of my friend's recommendation. It was good experience at the beginning, Dr. Berke was nice and inspiring. Both my son and I were happy for the first year with the initial fitting and all following appointments for 3, and 6 months. We also ordered total two pairs of lenses as told, one pair as backup. However, they never informed me of the cost of the 12 month check up which I thought would be included in the package. So it was a big surprise for me when I scheduled for the 12-month check-up and the front desk told me it should be $600. I then asked my friend how this should work, he confirmed that the 12-month check-up was not free, but it should only be $400. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to make at lease 4 back-and-forth phone calls with the front desk (the front desk was not knowledge and had to check with different managers) to get my price matched to my friend's.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This gave me the impression that they just charge whatever they want. Anyways, the 12-month checkup was quick, Dr. Berke said the lenses had minor scratches, so we need to order another pair, which we did. Last month was our 2nd year check-up, this time Dr. Berke again found minor scratches on the lenses again, but this time he said to us in the exam room "you don't need to purchase the new pair, just used the backup you bought before". Both my son and I heard that clearly, and I thought to myself, finally I don't need to spend another $440 on lenses this year. At checkout, we just paid the $400 + anther $39 fee (again we were not informed about that fee before hand, but since it was small, I just let it go). [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, about a week later I received a phone call telling me the backup lenses were ready for pickup.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I thought they called the wrong person so ignored it, but then I received a statement saying that I owed them $440 because I ordered the backup lenses. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I then called them again to explain it was a mistake on them, I didn't order any lenses this year so please remove the charges on my account.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The front desk told me she didn't know what happened in the exam room, but in Dr. Berke's note, he wrote to order lenses.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] These lenses are custom made, and they can't return them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And if I don't purchase these lenses, Dr. Berke won't see me next year as I was not following direction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was just shocked! Poor quality of service and a business model that is stupid. The lab made a mistake with one lens of my eye glasses. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The receptionist refused to set an appointment for me to bring them back to be fixed because they wanted me to talk to an optomestrist first - and not even the optometrist i saw[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They gave me a hard time when taking the measurements again, they have to inconvenience me to fix both lenses even though only one need to be fixed and the girl behind the counter double-talked me until the doctor shut her down by say "semantics" to her.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I mean, it's not that they made a mistake, it's the level of hassle they gave me in trying to even get back in to have it fixed and the level of inconvenience having the lab make 2 new lenses when only one is messed up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dr Berke is excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Laguna Beach location is great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The person who delivered my new glasses to me is from Laguna, but was filling-in at the Santa Ana office. She called me to ask me how I was doing because I told her when I picked them up one lens isn't right. During our conversation, I told her santa ana is refusing to schedule an appointment for me to bring the glasses back - so she called the santa ana officer herself, sheduled and appointment for me and called me back with the details[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. it will ending up being 5 weeks to get my new glasses - and that's if they do it right this time I will not be back next year. read more

Breaks my heart to write a bad review - My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Burke's for just about 20 years. Even when we moved to ONTARIO, CA we continued to make the drive to Santa Ana to see him. Love HIM. Can't cope with Tayani anymore. I am going to look for a new doctor in my area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They NEVER answer the phone. Ever. I just want to make my annual appointment. I work a full time job. I need to speak to someone between my various commitments and meetings, but NO, days of playing phone tag.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is ridiculous. Also, every year I go, the eyeglass inventory to choose from gets smaller and smaller, I used to find at least half a dozen styles I like, last year I had trouble finding ONE. I had been going to Target optical for year but decided to get a second professional's advice on my prescription and am glad I did. Before I go into what caused me to be livid, I'd like to address the professionalism and kindness of the tech and doctor that saw my ten month old for her assessment. Dr. Banuelos is a wonderful person and my baby loved her. She took her time and was patient with us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was given a prescription for my baby and they told me that Linda, who wasn't there at the time, will get options for my baby to try on and call me to schedule a trial for us to choose and order the best for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was on last Wednesday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I didn't hear from anyone so I called and left a voice message but didn't hear back. Then I called and left a message with scheduling to have her call but still nothing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On Monday I demanded to stay on hold until I got through to someone. When she finally transferred me the call got disconnect but they called me back and I was connected to Linda.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She was very sweet and professional which is why I'm shocked with how she messed up our appointment. On Monday she told me she ordered the box of options for my baby and it'll be shipped to a different facility so she'll have to pick it up. We agreed to meet Wednesday at 11am. I originally wanted to go on Tuesday (the next day) but she insisted Wednesday would work since it'll give her time to get to Santa Ana with the options. Come Wednesday, I wake my baby up from her nap to drive her 30 minutes across town only to find the doors are locked. Mind you I planned my entire day around this appointment. I have two other children in school. So I call and they tell me that Linda is in a meeting and that they are closed for the monthly meeting. I checked online and it clearly said that they were open. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked if the calls were recorded and she said they were because scheduling was trying to convince me that there was a misunderstanding which there could not have been.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She put me in a long hold and spoke to Linda who told her she told me after 3pm which is a bold lie because I pick up my kids at that time so I'd never agree to this. It's okay to make a mistake but it's not okay to lie or make the other person question themselves. I asked for Linda's managers number but they wouldn't give it to me. She told me "you can get it from Linda when she calls you." So you think Linda called me? Take a wild guess. I am sad to lose Dr. Banuelos but I will never return to Tayani again. I am sure Linda is good at what she does and probably has a lot on her plate. It was a series of unfortunate events and it killed me that my baby was stuck in a car seat for over an hour just for me to do a round trip to Santa Ana and back. I'll make this short and sweet. Your optician Andy needs to be retaught office operations. He's just cost Dr. Berke a family of longtime patients. Called in Tuesday (8/8/2023 at 1306) after driving all the way down there Monday (8/7/2023 at 0930) to order more contacts and leaving a message for the optician. Got this Andy character on the phone. He went ahead and ordered my contacts then asked how I was going to pay for them. I told him that my dad was going to use his Care Credit (which we have ALWAYS used with Dr. Berke, even before this horrendous sale/merger). I was then told Dr. Berke's patients cannot use it unless there is a $600 minimum that's met. I asked him when this changed and he did the whole phony customer service spiel of "well, Dr. Berke sold the practice to Tayani Institute..." before placing me on hold to send me a copy of my Rx. Then he came back on and said "your Rx has been emailed and you're terminated as a patient." I'm literally in tears over this. Dr. Berke has been our optometrist since my dad worked next door to the office for over 15 years. I literally just got off the phone with Lorena right now (8/10/2023 at 0846). She called me about my contacts and I told her what happened. She's literally in shock since we've been patients forever! It old her they're most likely losing 3 patients over this and she was heartbroken (as was I; we're loyal patients of Dr. Berke's and I even brought my husband and oldest son to him not too long ago!) I get Tayani Institute wants to get rid of Dr. Berke and his patients and make it all Tayani Institute, but don't take it out on all of us Dr. Berke patients. read more

This is a review for Tayani Institute. I've been a patient for Dr. Berke for years and before it was Tayani Institute, the customer service was top chart. Things were more structured and organized. Once it was sold over to Tayani, the disorder just began, and customer service went down the drain. Once the switch came over, they could not find mine or my husband's old files and we had to fill new forms for the Institute. Not sure what happen to our old files to this day or if they were ever found. Secondly customer service was awful. No one is greeting you as you enter and customer service is not the greatest. I even saw the receptionist talking on the phone to someone else that was not a customer as they were gossiping about random things on the phone and like when I had questions to ask about the glasses, they just kind of ping it over to another staff member and that staff member was already busy with various customers. It's a bit of a struggle for my husband and I as we really enjoy going to Dr. Berke; he is great and no complaints, but the office staff is just not as great as before. The other aspect is they are just not structured and are trying to squeeze in more appointments then they can handle. I had scheduled my appointment in advance and they had told me 12:00 pm, but on the day of the appointment they called and asked 30 min before my appointment if I can move to 12:30 pm or 1:00 pm. Really urked me about their punctuality. Before , this never happened. I'm really like contemplating whether my husband and I should switch over to one of our friends' optometrist office or not. Dr Guck was fantastic! He was very informative and thorough. My insurance denied one of the medications, he helped in resolving the issue, plus gave me a sample to get me started. I am a Newport Beach oncologist. I can go to the best of the best. I do. Dr. William Berke is a talented and skilled optometrist. I had an extremely difficult vision problem after a retinal detachment. I saw an optometrist in Newport Beach who unfortunately was not able to correct it. My retinal surgeon sent me to Dr. Berke. He came up with a complex prism and refraction solution that solved the problem. Now my whole family sees Dr. Berke. The second reason I go to Super Vision is their fashionistas who select my frames. As a guy, this can be challenging. They always choose the most up to date eyewear. They sometimes take we outside my comfort zone. I'll make this short and sweet. 4 stars, but only because of Dr.Berke, Ana, and Adriana. I'm the 2nd of 3 generations of a family who sees Dr.Berke. I will keep seeing him, but this merger is making me rethink this long-standing patient relationship we have. Ana and Adriana are amazing, but whomever the MA/scrub-wearing person was that did my pre-testing was basically moving at a sloth's pace and cherry-picking patients. Sat 20 (maybe 25 minutes) past my appointment time yesterday (1/7/2022 at 1130) because she took some dude who walked in after me ahead of me. My appointment ended up running into my dad's appointment of 12 noon because of her. Bottom line: 1. This merger caused more chaos than needed 2. Limited access to my doctor means I'm probably going to get frustrated and we're gonna break up with him 3. This merger is gonna force him into retirement when all his patients start leaving. read more

Dr Burke is an amazing eye doctor and now that they are merged with Tayani, there are more docs there. Dr Burke unfortunately was booked out a month so I was scheduled with Dr Guck for glasses and contacts exam. He was great and extremely informative on the health of my eyes, so thanks so much for that! Also the staff was extremely friendly and helpful as always. There was a bit of a wait when I first got there for my appointment and the receptionist wasn't at the front, but the lady at the eye glasses fitting desk and the even the gentleman in the back cutting glasses came out to see if I was helped so that was really appreciated. The frame selection looked great with designer and budget frames so there's plenty to chose from. I opted to use some extra Ray Ban frames I already had though so can't comment fully on the eye glasses frame fitting/buying process. But can say they were very helpful with getting my lenses all set to go with my frames. read more

I was told the only appointment would be in Santa Ana since their Laguna Hills office is booked. Received more than 8 texts and emails confirming the appointment with a certain doctor. So I show up for my appointment and they have assigned me to an OD for giving glasses. They do not have an MD at this location. So the receptionist booked me with an MD in Laguna Hills. I can honestly say that I put my absolute trust in the folks at the Santa Ana Office of The Tayani Institute. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the second I walked into the front desk, I was greeted and checked-in by Yer and her courteous and warm staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I never waited more than 2 minutes for anything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was also personally greeted by Dr. Tran.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was immediately taken back for my preliminary evaluation by an intern named Maneet who performed as if she was a veteran optometrist... fast but thorough. Within 10 minutes, I was seen by Dr Tran. Most Doctors move you along because of the number of patients they have scheduled that day. This was hardly the case. Dr. Tran methodically touched on a lot of issues I had not considered and made my appointment beyond personal than I could have imagined; as it should be. She also offered suggestions and very good recommendations. After that, I sat down with the optical department for help with my glasses. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Linda was so patient and accommodating. She was able to design the perfect pair based on my appointment with Dr. Tran while also optimizing all my insurance benefits and saving me a lot of money.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Let's not forget about Luis. He is the on-staff lens crafter and it is possible to get your glasses, the way you want it, in minutes. The more I think about it, the more I am unpleasant. So let me write it down. Long story short, spent 200 dollar making glass just to find out that the glass doesn't help me. Doctor did the through examination of my eye, and later found out that my eye is not spherical but it is bit deformed and that is why my eye has issue. I have no issue paying for the diagnoses of my eye. But all I am left with is the original problem I tried to treat that is not resolved and the glass that is useless for solving my problem. So basically same situation as before visiting here. Bit of a knowledge about my eye. Not solution and negative 200 dollar. I feel betrayed. read more

First off, both my husband and I have seen Dr. Burke for years and think highly of him. A couple of months ago, I saw Dr. Gwen for an opthomology check-up. I was greeted by friendly and pleasant staff, which is a big plus. Unfortunately, my wait before getting into a room was over 20 minutes past my appointment time. Dr. Gwen seemed knowledgeable about my problems and was able to resolve my issue and do a thorough check of my eyes. I had some questions about my 5 different medications /treatments and instructions for my my eye care after I left. I reached reached out to the office, leaving a number of messages over days, before someone finally got back to me. Unfortunately, the call left me still confused and with more questions, the representative said she'd check into answers for me, days went by without follow up, so I reached out to them, leaving multiple messages again. I could go on and on about the lack of timely follow-up, but instead, I'd like to just say more attention needs to be focused in this area. Yesterday, I returned for contact lenses and an eyeglasses appointment. I waited approximately 45 minutes past my appointment time. I was in the office for 2 hours to get a prescription. The doctor did spend about 45 of that with me, which was great, but the remainder was spent waiting on staff to finish with me and checking out. This is not an average cost office either. My bill with insurance was $225 prescriptions. This is more than double what I am accustomed to spending. I am still wondering what I would have spent without insurance. The staff at the center has come a long way since Tayani took over. The original Supervision Center was second to none! When Tayani first arrived it was a rough start. The customer service was notably different. It has slowly gotten better but yesterday was proof that they are back up to Supervision standards! So happy to see it. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!! It's crazy ! I went for my daughter's eyeglasses since July and they never called me, so I had to reach out and they told Me they had not placed the order for her glasses !! I reached out to the Managers one sounded like she did not care at all, & then I spoke to a different manager,she reach out back. She said Adriana would help out, she texted me the images of the pics to place the order on a text message but never got any answer when my daughter will be receiving them she was no help at all ! I called back & Juliet ? Placed me on hold and then forward my call to voicemail . This place deserves a zero star !!!!!! Horrible ! My daughter has been seen by Dr Berke almost 10 years for her ortho-k. We always had such pleasant every time we came there. Staffs were always friendly, helpful and know exactly what they are doing. We referred so many friends and family to have their eyes checked by Dr Berke until our recent visit. Staffs didn't know what to do they took so much time to help customers and the were too busy to talk to each others. Our friends told us about the situation and the did not come back to the office. We did not believe it until now to witness it. We are going to do same thing ( going to find another office)This new group of doctors whose taken over Dr Berke of office Eid very bad. read more

I was referred by an ophthalmologist to this location because of it's convenience and reputation as a leading eye glass provider...after several misunderstandings with my prescription... I felt like was being lead in a contentious and deceptive direction...I was not pleased with their customer service... However... after being reintroduced to a new customer service rep...my experience and opinion with Super Vision Center dramatically changed... She took the responsibility and explained the situation carefully as well as thoroughly regarding my incorrect account discrepancies...she was then capable to give me a step by step clarification that was so needed that is was refreshing... for the record...my personal experience mattered that much for management to make the necessary changes...in doing so, my experience turned out to be positive and memorable... I came in today after getting my lashes done a couple days for the first time and having severe irritation in my right eye. Dr. Banuelos and the entire staff was absolutely amazing ! From the moment Adrianna answered the phone to schedule my appointment & helped me with my Insurance to the very end of my visit I felt super welcomed and taken care of. My mom and I have seen Dr. Joson in Mission Viejo and San Clemente for 25 years for her cataract surgeries and recently in Irvine, so since I've always been happy with the doctors/staff, I'm now Dr. Joson's patient! I've been to the Santa Ana office 3 times to see Dr. Joson, Dr. Tayani and now Dr. Coffie who I had my 1 week post-op with. She took the time to ask if I had any questions and concerns which she answered thoroughly. My eyesight is amazing but my screen time is way up. I couldn't be happier with my cataract experience and Dr. Joson's step by step comments and his humor to calm nerves for the second eye. The anesthesiologist, Michelle and staff were awesome. Now my mom and I get to see Dr. Joson annually for our checkups. I'm so grateful for everyone. Thanks!!! read more

So in order to actually talk to someone here you have to go in person. Couple years ago, tried calling a couple times. No answer, left messages. No call backs. So went in. That's when I finally got an appointment. Jump ahead to a few weeks ago. Tried to go back. Called, left message, NO CALL BaCK. So either nobody is there to answer or call people back ON THE PHONE or people just don't want to do there job as a receptionist or who knows what. I would give them 0 (ZERO) stars if I could. If you can't call people back after they call you and tell you what number to call, which is the same as 2 years ago, then clearly you shouldn't work at a place like this. DO NOT GO HERE! Save your time and money for an optometrist that actually does there job!!! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Never called me to let me know my glasses were ready for pick up which they said they would. I called almost 4 weeks later and conveniently my glasses arrived that day. Tried on my glasses it doesn't work I don't know if they gave me a wrong prescription or gave me someone else glasses. Office keeps giving me the run around always putting my on hold and takes over 8min for someone to get back on the line. read more
