I've been taking my Hyundai here since I bought it from Mid City riddled with problems I didn't think I'd have. (But I'll save the negative Mid City review for another time). Every one of the issues was dealt with right the first time, and perfectly. They also do great things for the customers, like sitting down with them and truly explaining what's going on, and what's important, what can wait etc. A key thing is that I find them very honest. In my time in the waiting room I have personally seen/heard them tell multiple customers they don't need the work done that the customer themselves authorized and suspected they needed. In other words, Leon's turns down work/money if they don't feel it is genuinely necessary. Very honorable. They even gave me free labor on parts that they replaced when the parts had already been removed for a separate issue. They know what they're doing, and when they say something does or does not need to be done, it's great knowing you can believe them. read more

Tim La Londe from Willow Creek. I took my wife's Toyota Tacoma to Leon's. It needed two new front axels, a new muffler, check engine light was on, it needed a tune up and an oil change...and a few other things as well. I must start off with when my wife first got her truck 17 years ago, we took it there for a new exhaust system. The muffler man Jim that works there in my opinion is the best in the biz. He walked us though a very detailed description of what each muffler would sound like and on that information we made a decision and picked one. My wife loved it and loves the sound. Good job Jim. Happy wife happy life. In my book, a muffler on a car that rarely gets brought up to normal engine temp and lasts for 17 years is pretty amazing! So fast forward to now. Carrie at the front desk is a peach. I described what I wanted done over the phone to her. I towed the truck in the next day, had a quote the day after that. And upon my approval of the price they started the work. There was no hidden charges. And during the axle change they saw a potential future problem. They called me, explained the problem very clearly and I approved the fix. The fix was to help the longevity of the rubber boots and CV joints to last longer. I appreciate that a lot. They could have just put it in as previously talked about and I would have had problems sooner than later. Thanks for the heads up . Anyways the rest of the fixes were done as expected no problems what so ever. And at a very fair price. PS. I also wanted to get my wife's truck detailed inside and out. I went in to Leon's and told them that I thought it sounded like I might have bad wheel bearings in my Prius. They did a test drive and the tech also thought it sounded like bad bearings so they put it on the hoist to do a chassis inspection and found that my badly worn tires could have been causing that sound. So, they told me that I should get new tires and then see what happens. With new tires on it, it sounds smooth and quiet. A shop could have easily told me I needed new bearings and gotten a nice big repair job, but the folks at Leon's were honest as tires were indeed the problem and I was only out 60 bucks for an inspection and diagnosis. Very honest business - I'll be back and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Leon's to anyone. Thanks, folks. read more

This place is horrible! I took my infiniti G35 here because my car would not start. They wanted to take advantage of me and charge me $3,400!!!!!! They said I needed a new cluster, alternator, and battery and that it would take a minimum of two weeks. I took it down south to a small local shop and they fixed it for $100. All it was was some wires behind the dashboard that needed to be organized. read more

I have a limited experience with this garage - but I received excellent service both times. One time they replaced the front end on my Volvo in a record time and for a very reasonable price - the second time was just a minor adjustment for which i was not charged. Not only are they extremely friendly, punctual, and caring, they also do a fantastic job on my car. The vacuum the inside for free and offer you cookies and coffee while you wait. They have always been helpful and friendly. Since I do not know much about cars, I always have lots of questions, and have the fear of being ripped off. But they always explain everything clearly and give me suggestions or recommendations. I never feel like I am being pushed into fixing or buying something that isn't necessary. They may be a little over priced compared to other car shops, but I would rather pay an extra 10 dollars for quality work. I don't know anything about cars, so it's always scary to try out a new mechanic. However, everything about this experience was great: from making the appointment over the phone to speaking with the mechanic after the problem(s) were diagnosed. They didn't overcharge me; they didn't treat me like an idiot; they told me exactly what was wrong with the vehicle and which things were priorities; and everyone I dealt with was kind and patient, even when I couldn't afford to make most of the repairs that they recommended. Can't say enough about this place. I was on a road trip last year, a broke twenty-something moving to Seattle, and it was pouring rain. As I was approaching Eureka, my driver's side windshield wiper tweaked out. I could hardly see anything. It was getting late and most shops were closing, so the mechanics refused to work on my truck until the following morning. I arrived at Leon's in a bad state as the owner was closing up shop. When I pulled into the lot, he came over to my truck, heard my story, opened the shop back up, got out his tools and fixed it in less than five minutes. He wouldn't accept any money for the job, just said he was happy to help. I was able to get back on the road and make it to Seattle before the storm got any worse. One year later, the windshield wiper is still working well. Can't thank Leon's enough. read more

Jim is an exhaust expert. I wouldn't trust my exhaust anywhere else. This is the second complete exhaust (on 2 diff vehicles) that I have had done at Leon's. They do excellent work, they are knowledgeable about appropriate setups for all different types of vehicles, and their prices are quite fair. And in addition to the great work they do, the CEO Dale Warmouth is a staple in our community, always donating his time , effort and finances to help our community in many different capacities. Leon's, while perhaps being a little on the steep side pricing-wise, has been nothing but good to me and my friends when we take our vehicles there to be serviced, and, in my case, modified. The staff is friendly, professional, and knew what they were doing- they treat your vehicle like their own. They perform exactly the work you ask them to, but will also check your car for anything else that might go wrong and make recommendations based on what they see. These guys are professionals that take pride in their work, and it shows in every bit of the business they run. If their prices were a little lower, I'd happily give them a five. However, their business is so good that I'll happily buy from them regardless. Also, they do have homemade cookies and good coffee, and their facility is clean and organized. I've never wrote a review on here before, but I had such a bad experience here I felt I would share. I took my car in for a simple air conditioning repair, they had to run a diagnostic test, which was expected, no problem. They told me an hour wait time, it ended up being close to 3 hours of waiting just to finally get hit with a $4000 estimate! Told me it would be $625 for a new ac compressor. I found it for $100 on Google. Said it would be $215 for a new ac condenser, $50 on Ebay. These are the prices estimated BEFORE labor costs. Said my NEW SPARK PLUGS were bad. Estimated the parts at $240!?!?!? Good spark plugs are no more than $20 EACH, I have 4. PLEASE tell me where 4 spark plugs cost $240...Gave me a $500 total parts estimate on 3 engine mounts. Found them each around $50 online. And these were just a few of the repairs they said "needed" done. Not everybody around here is Mr Moneybags Commercial Pot Grower, dont let these guys rob you with overpriced parts and work that doesn't NEED done!!! read more

We have two cars, a 2006 Hyundai Tucson, and a 2015 Subaru Forester. We have been taking our cars (even the ones before these) to Leon's for around 15 years. They are courteous, efficient, polite, and finish their work in a timely manner. We have never had a problem after the service is done. If they find something else that also needs to be done, they will talk to us, tell us what needs to be done, how soon it needs to be done, and how much it will cost. They will also tell us what will need to be done soon. I can always get an appointment quickly and never wait too long. They have a shuttle and will take you home (or probably other places, like the mall) and pick you up when your car is ready. The Warmuth's are a kind and generous family. Been a Leon's patron for years. Brothers trusted the work, good neighbors in community. Pay for a job, get a job done. Not so much lately. Over the last year, each time took car in, something worse came back. Filthy car seats, not attached items and the big one that helps me write this for other Humboldt County folks: the entire splash guard was detached. Sure it cost me only about $30 + grief and lack of trust. None of us will be taking any more vehicles there. Too bad that some workers got in there just can't just be checked. When I first moved to Humboldt a year and a half ago, my old (1963) pickup died just North of Fortuna. AAA took me all the way to Leon's. I immediately told them I was pretty sure it was my generator. I no longer remember exact costs (someday I will dig up my receipts) but about an hour and almost 100 dollars later they came to the lobby and told me, "Yep, it is an electrical problem." I asked about the generator. It wasn't checked yet, so they would do that now. A couple hours and another 100 dollars later, the generator was named as the problem, but it hadn't been taken off or inspected. I was extremely tired after driving all night, then waiting in their lobby. On the upside, my battery was being charged all these hours, so I asked for the battery to be re installed so I could leave. I of course payed, but I was not willing to stick around so i could be charged more just to be told what I already knew. I was told that the owner had once had a Studebaker Champ, like mine, but it had been destroyed in some kind of fire. I would've liked to meet him to talk about it, but he was on vacation and after my experience, I have had no urge to go there again. My experience there still makes me mad to this day. After discussing my experience with many people around town, I have yet to hear anything wonderfully good about Leon's. One friend even told me how they messed up an oil change for him, but that is his story, not mine. I will say I found a place nearby that was surprised that anyone would ask for an hour's worth of labor costs just to disassemble the generator and diagnose it, as they do that for free. I will be writing a 5 star review for that place, as they have never done anything wrong. read more

The guys (and girls) at Leon's are very efficient, charmingly friendly and reassuringly knowledgeable about their work. We pulled up in a 30 year old camper van with a range of issues. The guys at Leon's had the situation down in no time, they knew what to look for, how to fix it and what surprised us most was that they were able to do this very affordably with no big surprising garage bills to face. When we had a little electrical fault a few days later (no fault of Leon's) we took our van back there and they sorted the problem swiftly, without an appointment. What surprised us most is that, even through they gave us a new fan belt, they refused to take any payment for this second visit, which we thought spoke volumes about their customer service. Way overpriced (no wonder they can afford gold plated fixtures in the restroom) Had a muffler and full pipe installed and the welds were terrible. Pin holes everywhere and pieces of welding wire stuck on everything. THIS GUY COULD NOT WELD AND HE CLAIMED HE HAD WORKED THERE FOR 30 YEARS. Then I discovered that he had welded the O2 sensor bung facing the engine block so there is no way to change it. I took it back and he corrected the O2 issue but there were still multiple leaks in the system. Lots of JB Weld later I finally got rid of the exhaust smell in my truck. Went to Summit Racing on line, bought all the parts and re did the job myself for a fraction of the cost. read more
