These guys are great! Here are some specifics of my first experience with them. The problem was a defective head gasket. Because of an unforeseen problem, they had to extend the return time for three days. In order to ensure that I had transportation during that period, they gave me a really nice rental car for free. On the day they did the work, the wait time was more than two hours, so they took me home and then picked me up when the work was done. Their people made sure that I understood the work they were going to do and all that they had done after the job was finished. Their manner was always caring and expert. read more

Not only is their facility spotless, but their staff/technicians take pride in their work and never leave me feeling like I'm being "taken advantage of" and as a woman I have found that to be true from other mechanics. I am a former mechanic, I am too old to get under my cars anymore. I went into this shop because it was recommended. The mechanic Bill lied to me on multiple occasions, every time I caught him in using the wrong terminology for the job it would frustrate him and he would change his story. On this I cannot go into detail it would be too long. The person behind the counter continue to argue with me over silly things like transmission fluid being called oil instead of transmission fluid, it was ridiculous. Finally we got the bill it was based on multiple items that were never even supposed to be inspected, price was outrageous for what they were actually wanting to do. I took it to another shop where I found my suspicions were correct, what they claimed did not need to be done. I would never recommend this outfit. They will give you the bait and switch and it will be a high price! Beware if you're a single woman as I do believe they prey on this, they were to women there while I was waiting both were complaining about the bill on their car being higher than first estimate. I'm not stopping with Yelp I am calling their main office, if I knew my employees did what these two did I would have them fired end of story. Yes it was that bad!! read more

I will always recommend Leon's to anyone in Eureka. They run a very professional shop and I have trusted them with several Hondas and my Nissan truck for close to 15 years now. This story explains why I trust Leon's with my cars. And I'm compelled to yelp it because I want to thank them for being, well.. awesome. A few months ago, a cargo van I had purchased used from a local Eureka new car dealership was having some problems. After 4+ times in service at the dealership where I bought it from and paying for repairs that did not fix the issue - the dealer finally diagnosed it as a problem with the catalytic converter, and offered to fix it for around $2000. Keep in mind, this problem was present from the day I bought the used vehicle. Since it took the dealer 4 times to properly diagnose the issue, I figured I should get a second opinion before I committed to a $2000 repair. So I took the Van over to Leon's. I figured I'd much rather give them my business than the original dealer. They confirmed the diagnosis, but went a HUGE step further. They let me know that this specific problem was covered under the original 100,000 mile FACTORY WARRANTY! And...they recommended a dealer to fix it for me. Now, I had no Idea this was under warranty. Didn't occur to me. My Van had over 80K miles on it. I was fully prepared to give Leon's the $2K to fix it for me. Long story short, LEON'S SAVED ME $2000 Even better - they didn't charge me anything to confirm the diagnosis. That's customer service. And a very trustworthy shop. In the interest of full disclosure, I used to work at Leon's. That said, I still happily take my car there, and I think that's saying something. Their focus is on customer service. They don't just tell you what's wrong with your car, they'll take you out to the shop, under the hoist, and point out the problems (from oil leaks to exhaust cracks to the chunks that were rattling around inside of your catalytic converter). I wish they were still open Saturdays, since I have a really hard time getting my oil changes during the week, but for emergency repairs and other long-term work, I love being able to drop my car off, catch their free shuttle ride to home or work, and know my transportation is in good hands. read more

AAA towed my car to Leon's Car Care and left it in the night drop off. The receptionist at Leon's called at 8:47am to start the work order.  The call started off fine and then we started discussing service needs. I explained it was towed there because my ignition was jammed and would not turn at all.  She siad there was a 157 diagnostic fee. I asked if she could please just replace the ignition as I new 100% it was necessary.  With an attitude she said so you dont want us to diagnose the problem, just replace the part.  She agreed but did not seem happy with me. So, then I said well then I should tell you about the other 2 issues that really need to be addressed  (power steering is starting to go out and the AC is not blowing cold). In a not very nice tone she said "well there's a separate diagnostic free for each issue and we cannot do these for $157. I asked her to tell me what they were. She began listed them off..225 for AC, chassis... I stopped her and said (in the same normal conversational tone I had been using throughout the convo), "I have to say this is all sounding like a bit of a rip off" (as the total $ at that point was about $600 for just diagnostic work! Apparently my comment triggered her badly because she responded with "we'll Wendy we don't have to service your car. I am refusing service!" What?! Stunned by her response, I hung up at 8:54am  and immediately called another AAA service shop just up the road to schedule an appointment.  My next move would have been to call AAA to request a 2nd tow due to Leon's refusal to service my car but while I was making my service appointment the woman at Leon's  called me back. Since I was on a call, I ignored her call and called right back as soon as i was done with my call. It was 9:09 when I called her back.  A man answered the call and I informed him of the new service appointment I made up the road and I would be calling AAA next to get my car towed out of there shop.  He informed me that a tow truck was already on the way!! I said how is that possible? I have not called a tow truck yet! He told me that she had and then put her on the phone.  At this point I went from flustered by her service denial to extremely angry that in a matter of less than 15 min she already called for my car to be towed to impound!! Now angry I tried to ask them to stop, that I was calling for a tow on my own. She said she had asked me to call her back (guessing on a VM that i has not listened to yet)! I said, I am calling you back immediately after getting off the call with the other shop. She informed me it was to late. I hung up again and asked my husband to call since he was not as worked up as me at this point.  He tried and the man answered again.  He told my husband that we has lost our chances and the thinks i may have used the f word with her.... i gotta say i was so angry by that point i am not eben sure if i dropped an f bb or not. But honestly after being refused service for no good reason and then being told my car was being impounded, who wouldn't be angry at that point?!!  All it took was me questioning a very high diagnostic cost for her to have my car impounded in less than 15 min during which I was frantically trying to arrange a new service appointment and tow. I drove straight to Leon's which took less than 10in. When I got there my car was already gone!! Money is tight these days with gas as high as it is. Clearly Leon's cannot tolerate someone trying to manage their auto repair needs in a way that is the most financially responsible for them. All I was trying to do was figure out what I wanted to have them fix and how to best go about that.  As a result I need up with a 270 towing and impound charge!!!    Absolutely the most unbelievable situation I have ever been in!!!! read more

Leon's has been my go to shop for about a year, and I really trusted them to do a good job at a fair price. However, I just bought a new vehicle and turns out the head gasket needs replacement (not leon's fault at all) but here's the kicker.... they quoted a head gasket replacement at $6,000!!!! Again, six thousand dollars for a head gasket replacement. That is more than double the "fair price" for such a service. read more

This price was ridiculously over what anyone else offered in the area. I would NEVER go there to get any work done. I think that they are cheats and they do not deserve people's business. I have a vintage VW bus. This car requires creative talented professionals to help me solve problems to things that I never thought I would encounter. Like a supposed stock muffler that sat so low I thought I had it on upside down. Nope It just was manufactured for apparently a car with much bigger tires. LOL it was terrible. I drove it to Leons all distraught. What to do if anything? Ummm how about a custom pipe, reweld, and clean looking in one day! Chrimeny what took me days to figure out they did in a few hours and it was amazing. Cost I thought would be crazy high. But it was very fair for the work that was done. Used to be the best shop around. Recently it's gone to hell in a bucket. Made an appointment for a diagnostic and an oil change, got there and they told me they only had time to do the oil. They reset the check engine light and let me drive away without even letting me know the codes the car was throwing! Check engine light came back on 5 miles later and car starts sputtering with loss of acceleration. I call them back and they tell me they can't get me in for another 3+ weeks for diagnosis but they can get me in the next day for something minor that wasn't essential to the car running properly. Absolute shit service, and newby techs who don't know their head from their ass. They also told my family member that they can't service their luxury vehicle anymore because their techs are undertrained. It's pathetic and I'm sure the guy who started the shop would be ashamed. Wow! I can't say enough nice things about Dina!!! We were traveling through Eureka on a LONG road trip with a travel trailer when we developed car trouble. Without an appointment, we show up, stressed-out strangers, to Leon's. Unfortunately, they were booked with back-to-back appointments. Most businesses would give us a "so-sorry-not-my-problem" shrug, but Dina went out of her way to call other auto shops until she found one that could see us without an appointment! Being strangers in town, we might have wasted hours just driving around until we found someone who could see us. She quickly helped us solve our problem without any benefit for her business at all. Here are recent estimates I received for work done for my 2000 ford focus: Timing Belt & Water Pump = 790 The FORD DEALERSHIP estimate = 547 Replace Window Regulator= 438 (including $100 diagnostic fee) The FORD DEALERSHIP = 260 I made the unfortunate mistake of finding this out after just having overpaid for a new radiator. I'm sure the work is good, but if they can't even be competitive with the dealership, something is wrong. They also charged me $100 just to find out what was wrong with my window and didn't fix it. (Because they claimed I demanded my car back right away- which I did not- I specifically said "Take your time!) I've had MUCH better luck with Expert Tire on H street- and they offer fair, competitive prices for good work. read more

I was driving from Brookings, OR. to Los Angeles and my car was loosing acceleration and would not go over 45 mph. I have a car collection of vehicles ranging from 1906 antiques to Ferrari's and Lamborghinis, so I pretty much know my cars. I pulled in and I am a super friendly guy, asking his if they could change my catalytic converter )an expensive job, but not a tough one, the part is about $800. The fellow there, said that was not the problem and asked if he could check it, pretty simple test as in effect it's a filter in the exhaust that clogs at about 80,000 miles? he would not look up, said he did not have time, it was 1PM. I asked him if he'd simply replay it, happy to pay the cost, even if it does not resolve the problem? Said "no" and walked away. I think he was upset that I suggested the problem....can't think another reason, as I am always polite, simply asked his to replace it and said I'd pay? A very expensive part with I suspect a good profile margin? the place looks great from the highway, but inside is another story. I went elsewhere, had it change, was the problem, it's a month later and my car is still running great! Then a few days after my transmission service it rained I hit my wipers an a torx wrench tool flew out and hit my windshield. They have inexperienced mechanics. If there were an option for no stars, that's what this place would get. First off they wouldn't give us a quote for a very simple job over the phone. When we arrived the person we talked to on the phone was nowhere to be found, making us sit and wait to be seen. They were extremely slow at every step of the inspection. When we got fed up with their incompetence and pressed him on just telling us the final price, Dale was extremely rude and unpleasant and quoted an absolutely ridiculous price (hundreds of dollars more expensive than Pro Pacific which is right up the road). I went here for an oil change and a $5 discount coupon. I knew it would cost a bit more, but I didn't have a coupon for Expert Tire. Well, an oil change here costs $40. There's an involuntary inspection included. So, with taxes I ended up paying around $40. The service is nice, but I can't afford it. Leon's sent a card in the mail asking for feedback, and I explained that I couldn't come back with those prices, mentioning Expert Tire. I don't really know what I was thinking when I came to Leon's...maybe that paying a small premium for a local business was fair. I came here to get an oil change and looked on their website and saw that they had a really good deal on a "spring care package". Dina (the front desk lady) was extremely helpful and nice and so were the mechanics I talked to. I liked that everyone else that were getting their cars worked on got to go and actually see what was wrong with their cars instead of some places I've gone that tried to up sell me and say I needed to do many more things then I actually needed. This is the only place I'll be taking my car now to get serviced and oil changes. And I didn't even have to schedule my appointment ahead of time they were able to take me within the hour. I am in the midst of a really frustrating experience with Leon's Car Care Center. Friday: Took my car in for an oil change and to have a check engine/vsc/trac off light diagnosed. I was given a diagnosis and told to bring my car back Monday morning. The technician estimated that this job would take approximately 3 hours of labor and stated that my car would be ready for pick up by the end of the business day on Monday. Monday: Dropped my car off in the morning. Approximately 30 minutes before their closing time (4:30p), I was told that my car was still apart so I would not be getting it back until the following day. Tuesday: Received news that they had overlooked a separate issue with my car and a part needed to be replaced in order for my original problem to be solved. I was able to get my car back by the end of the day but was told to drop it off Thursday morning so that the new part can be replaced. I was told that the labor would take approximately 30 minutes and I would have my car back by lunch. Thursday: When I called at lunch-time, I found out that my car had not been serviced yet. I was then told that my car would be ready for pick by 3p. Received a phone call from the technician at 4p and was given the good news that my car was finally done. Picked up my vehicle and after driving less than one mile, the Check Engine, vsc and Trac Off light came on - same problem I had when I dropped the car off on Monday. 5+ days and close to $800 later, I have to visit Leon's before work to have them work on my car. Needless to say, I am utterly frustrated. Will follow up with this post to inform fellow consumers how Leon's handles this exhausting situation. read more
