I ordered a chopped salad. This is not chopped.

I work right up the road and have given them so much business and many chances but today I am done. Ordered a chopped salad and you screwed if up. Again!

Average grilled cheese on wheat with fries...nothing outstanding.

Better than I thought it would be. First things first. I'm not a big fan of the whole "coney island- family restaurant" style of dining. I never have been and anyone who knows me is aware of that. It's just not my cup of tea. With that said, I was, nonetheless, pleasantly surprised by how nice Leo's seemed. My husband and I were both loathe to cook after a long day at work several weeks ago and stopped in for a meal. I had never eaten here before except for a takeout sandwich and fries from here that my husband had brought home once. He had eaten breakfast here several times before with friends, but I hadn't, so I wasn't sure if I was really going to like it or not. As it turns out, I did. I ordered a salmon burger and sweet potato fries while he ordered a gyro with rice (he's a sucker for a good gyro). My burger was great, made with fresh, tender salmon. The sweet potato fries cost a little extra (I think), but they were pretty damn good. I rarely pass up the chance to upgrade or switch to sweet potato fries because I do like them so much when they're done right and these were. My husband said his gyro was delicious and he's pretty picky when it comes to his gryros, so I'll take his word on it. Later, we ordered the Chocolate Temptation Cake to share (it's huge, so it's no problem to share- it can comfortably accommodate two diners, it's that big!) and it was decadent and rich, just like a good chocolate cake is supposed to be. We were bummed that they were out of the gluten-free chocolate cake on their menu (we really wanted to see what it tasted like), but this one rated pretty high with me. I can't wait to try the gluten-free cake sometime. As far as ambiance goes, it's a straight-up family style restaurant, so it's nothing to write home about, but it's clean, spotless, in fact, the service is friendly and they have reliable free Wi-Fi. Definitely affordable and priced for the average consumer. In other words, good service and food that won't break the bank.

    Chicken Caesar salad

I come here all the time to grab lunch since it's close to work. Staff is always super friendly and food is delicious every time. My go to is the chicken Caesar salad. It's bigger than you'd expect so I get a small. Super filling and their chicken is delicious. May not be the prettiest looking but it's amazing.

    Garden burger

I go to Leo's all the time and I'm normally satisfied. I always get the garden burger and it always comes like a normal burger. Today I ordered one to go and it was just a patty and tomato slices in a box. I called to ask what happened and was told "the garden burger doesn't come with a bun" despite it being normal every other time.

So I brought a bread tag all the way from Lansing to the Soogy Bottom in Flint just to put it in a burger? That sounds ridiculous! I never even asked for my food to be comped. And the waiter even said, "no, they never asked. That was me." I didn't even expect it to be comped. I was planning on paying full price. Then he said, "good because you are. You are a liar." Then tried to say he never accused me. You just did, by saying I put it in my food to get my meal comped and called me a liar. It escalated into a extremely heated argument. He said, "I am a manager so it's my job to be a prick" umm no sir, that is NOT how a manager should act. I definitely can afford a sandwich and fries. He needs to be fired! That is extremely unprofessional!

It was an interesting experience to say the least. When we walked in the parking lot didn't look overly busy. When we walked in there were several groups waiting to get seated ahead of us. There was a host that was telling the two people ahead of us it would be over an hour wait and to try elsewhere. The lady said there was a huge party and half of their staff called off. We decided to stick around anyway to see if we would get seated. Thankfully, one of the owners came by and asked if we had been helped. She offered us a spot in the pub area, we just had to wait 5 minutes. The pub area looks like something out of my childhood. It was a bit dated, but I think that was the general theme of the restaurant. Kind of reminded me of an old golf clubhouse. Once we were sat in the pub area young man helped us from behind the bar. He was by himself with quite a few tables, but he was very prompt and helpful. I ordered the strip steak that came with mashed potatoes and green beans. I also got their French onion soup to start. Our food came out fairly quick and everything was pretty darn delicious. I would say the initial interaction with the hostess was the biggest drawback for this experience. Maybe work on the customer service aspect of it. Our server for dinner was on point and the food was definitely worth the price. I would give it another shot, it was just an odd one.

I have to state this because they always do this. When my order was delivered I received the Verdura and one House Salad, not my two Caesar Salads. In addition, the House Salad was on top of the hot pasta and was therefore hot as well. Furthermore, the pasta was swimming in sauce. I called the restaurant and spoke with a gentleman. I believe his name was James. I explained the errors to him. He did not apologize at all. In fact, he told me that I either did not enter the note appropriately, or it did not come through on their end. He said that he bagged up my order. He also said nothing about the salad screwups. I told him that putting cold salads on top of hot pasta is their common practice with my orders, he said nothing. I told him that I was bringing this to his attention so that they could improve this practice. Once again, no response. I said to him that not putting cold salads on top of hot pasta should be common sense. He replied with, "I'm not going to have this discussion with you. You can take it up with DoorDash. Well, I am going to take it up with DoorDash and Sauce just lost a frequent and loyal customer. If he bagged up my order he obviously did not check to ensure the order was accurate. His attitude sucked: no apology and blaming the customer. Disgraceful! P.S. No salad dressing with the House Salad.
