I was out doing a visit to one of our vendors and they invited me to dinner. They know I am a big food guy so they set up dinner at Leo's. all of the servers were on top of there game and did a fantastic job with good drinks and all around just very nice and friendly. Now for the food. I love Calamari but it is always a crap shoot if it is going to be good or is it going to be a plate of rubber bands. I will say if you are looking for GREAT Calamari you need to stop in and order the appetizer. great flavor and malted in your mouth. Along with the Calamari we had the Seafood cake duet. Lump crab in one and scrimp and lobster in the other with a side sauce with just the right amount of heat. My main course was a chef special Scallop with an orange and ginger sauce. Scallops cooked perfectly. One of the best meals I had out in awhile. Hats off to all of the staff. please keep up the great work can't wait to get back someday. read more

We'd made reservations for our anniversary weeks before and were so much looking forward to it. We've enjoyed Leo's many times in the past. Unfortunately we couldn't possibly afford to go there very often. We entered the parking garage to learn that the first spot we could find was on the fourth level. We are lucky to have a handicapped placard. Lord knows how much higher we would have had to go! Fortunately we were only about 100 feet from the elevator. An easy walk. Then...we discovered the elevator was "out of service". Facing us were four flights of concrete stairs. Going down would be hard enough, but coming back up! Forget it. Leo's is one of our favorite places to celebrate a special occasion. It is fancy and delicious without being overly pretentious or too niche :) Their seafood and steak is great and we have always enjoyed their lobster bisque, surf and turf, the seafood risottos and whole lobsters when available! Pricing is fair for a nice restaurant/the type of food. The waiters have always been professional and if you reserve your table ahead of time, you can specify the occasion and they give you a nice personalized card! If you save room, dessert is always a good idea and their tray or the various options of the day are always so tempting! What a way to start the New Year with a January birthday. My husband chose this gem. First time we have ever been here. He made online reservations the week before, it was around a 30 minute drive from our home, the street has parking meters with covers over that said Leo's and if you parked their your vehicle was taken by valet. We decided to go up the road and self park. There were QR signs everywhere that you scanned, put in your vehicle information and credit card then started the meter. For the 2hrs 32mins we were parked it cost $9.00. friendly reminder YOU need to stop the time if you forget you are charged a flat day fee. It's January so I am happy to report the sidewalk was shoveled and we were able to get across the street with ease. We were greeted buy two hostesses who took our jackets, gave us tags and seated us. If you wanted to keep your jacket with you that was also an option. Dan was our main waiter. I say that because we were visited by five different people. Dan explained they each had a roll to help manage food distribution so we got fresh, hot meals and he was right. When we arrived at our table there was a little happy birthday note next to our candle. Nice touch to make a women smile. We took our time at dinner. Ordered oysters and muscles as appetizers. We bought a bottle of wine, enjoyed the ambiance and each others company. Dan would come by and check in on us. Explain specials or top off our wine. Between the rolls, appetizers and wine we had to split an entree. The food was fresher and fresh. We were told flown in each day and picked up from the airport so it would be fresh. If we were to have had crab legs they crack them for you table side so you don't get messy. How cool! Wish I had room for dessert. The creme brulee looked amazing. They posted hours open until 10 o'clock and they closed their doors at 9:35 on a Friday and locked them. We walked all the way there from DeVos due to the posted hours. That is poor advertising and extremely poor customer service. The hostess wouldn't even come to the door when we knocked. I would think twice before going there for a drink. read more

We spent our 4 year anniversary here last Friday, and everything was wonderful! This was our 4th time at Leo's, and we're still so impressed. We had a 7pm reservation and were promptly seated, and given a happy anniversary card. All the staff are so friendly here! The restaurant was pretty quiet, I expected it to be busier on a friday night, but there was also a hockey game at the same time. I would say the ambience resembles an upscale hotel restaurant. Of course the food is outstanding. Their complimentary bread is outstanding! This time for appetizers we tried the sea scallops and the colossal shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were insanely good, and super fresh. At a previous visit we tried the seafood cake duet which was also wonderful. For mains, my boyfriend ordered the Seafood Pan Roast. It is a large portion, very filling, and super delicious; it comes with a ton of seafood so it's the perfect choice if you can't decide what to order! I ordered the Surf and Turf, and it was perfection. On our last visit I tried the shrimp and crab risotto and it was so good, but this time I wanted to try something new! I'm not usually a filet girl, I usually choose a ny strip or ribeye, but the filet was great and the perfect portion. The lobster tail was super tender, and the sides were balanced and filling. For as much as I love seafood I'm shocked that I had never been to Leo's before! I met a friend for happy hour on his recommendation, and I can't wait to go back! The happy hour specials are a really great deal. We sat in the bar area and shared 4 appetizers and a dessert. We shared the calamari, tuna sashimi, seafood cake duet, and seared sea scallops. Every single one of them was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious! The salads/veggies served with the sashimi and scallops were also really good. They were crisp, refreshing, and a really nice pair with the seafood. I had my eye on the salmon & corn chowder, but by the time we finished the apps I was pretty much stuffed, and needed to save room for dessert! Key lime pie is my favorite, so I had to try theirs when I saw it on the menu. It did not disappoint! Really nice crust, great texture, fresh whipped cream... what's not to like?! Unfortunately it looks like this might be off the menu right now, so that's sad for the next time I go. I'm looking forward to going back to try more of their menu, and to sit in the dining area. This place has been on my list for so long and I'm so glad I was finally able to try it out. It definitely lived up to my expectations. I was craving fresh oysters, so my friend and I split their oyster sample platter that has 2 each of 3 different types. It was tasty and didn't even really need sauce. For my entree I had the bouillabaisse which had so many different types of seafood in a tomato broth type base. The waiters asked if we wanted to crack the crab and lobster or if we would like them to do it. Of course we chose them lol. I would get this entree again. For dessert, my friend and I split the grasshopper cake. SO good. Sort of like a palette cleanser and was a huge portion and definitely hit the spot with the chocolate. Until last month, I had never been to Leo's but had always heard it was the place to go for a special occasion. We love seafood, so my boyfriend and I made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary and had a great experience. Staff took our temperature before we were seated and hand sanitizer is provided on all the tables. I felt very safe and comfortable dining in here as tables were spaced out appropriately as well. We started with some oysters and escargot. The oysters were great and shucked well. The escargot was prepared differently than I'm used to, but it was delicious. It was mixed up in a type of spread with spinach, roasted red peppers, and served with bread. It was tasty but I don't think I'd get it again. Then for our entrees, we ordered surf and turf and the halibut prepared Oscar style. The surf and turf was amazing! I've made surf and turf at home but nothing beats this. The lobster tail was perfectly tender and not overcooked at all, with great seasoning. The filet was one of the best steaks I've had in awhile, on par with Chop House (maybe even better). The halibut was also nicely prepared if not the most flavorful. I'm so glad I finally got to check out Leo's and wouldn't hesitate to go back for another special occasion or a fancy lunch. read more

Leo must be bummed out seeing what has become of the fine restaurant he started. After the Trump rally we wanted to grab something because the food line was too long at Van Andal. Weren't dressed up like we usually do going to "our place." Place always looked nice so we wanted to also. Most of our birthdays and anniversaries were celebrated there. End of an era. Went after COVID and learned that it was sold after Jane complained some little thing she really liked was not as good. Prices had gone up but not that much and we were not hurried like most places. Overall we were relieved. So shocked to see new pricing. Jane said she would just get an app. I said no, that would make me uncomfortable since I was getting Surf and Turf. I had mowed the lawn and joked that I had earned it. We had a beer and settled in. The server was excellent. The bread was warm. The steak was just right. But then came the lobster. The split tails were the diameter of my little finger. Tried to cut off a piece with my fork. No luck. Then tried the butter knife. Nope. Sawed through it with steak knife and started chewing, and chewing and chewing. Disgusting! Tried the baked potato. Half cooked. Hard as a rock. Turned to the asparagus. I took some friends from a nursing home (one with dementia, one with mobility issues) to Leo's on Thanksgiving and Leo's could not have handled it better. From the receptionist (I apologize for not getting her name) , to Karla at the bar, to Ty, their waiter, everyone treated the couple with dignity and respect. The food was outstanding, the service superb, and desert topped it off! The restaurant was decorated for the holidays and looked great. The atmosphere is always really relaxed but a bit fancier and the service was phenomenal. The server provided us great recommendations and we couldn't be happier with our choices! I definitely enjoyed the scallops best out of the meals that we tried, but I would say that if you need a spot for a business dinner, a fancier date night, or just are craving good seafood... don't hesitate to go to Leo's just because it's downtown! The hostesses and our server Laura were all fantastic, friendly and professional: definitely add to the elegance of the venue. Being in management I take notice of all that and even the "my pleasure" response, spot on to service! My wife got the double tail lobster (it was her birthday dinner) and said it was fantastic! My choices were less than stellar I got a Caesar and the dressing was just off or different and didn't sit well. My first drink the Paloma was very bland - not good / I'd avoid, the pineapple rum runner was a lot better. So being a little pricier it was unfortunate hiccup on those items but overall it was a very relaxing place. We'll probably give it another try. read more
