This is a delightful restaurant with great food, great service and great ambiance. Their thoughtful farm to table menu was outstanding. I'm sad I was only in town for one night because I was forced to pick just one item. I decided on the Short Rib Ragu Gnocchi. It was a good choice, but everybody's meals looked great. We had 8 at a table and our server did an excellent job engaging with everyone, getting our drinks out in a timely manner and serving us all at the same time. I tried someone else's Salmon and it was delicious also. 2 people got the hanger steak and gave it 5 stars. The prices were reasonable given the quality, freshness and presentation of our dinners. We got there just before happy hour ended and our server was nice enough to clue us in and we got a few appetizers and drinks before the prices went up. Definitely go if you get a chance. Terra GR was absolutely wonderful! I chose it for my birthday dinner with friends, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff went out of their way to make the evening feel special and celebratory. I had to adjust my reservation a couple of times (with enough notice ofc!), and each change was handled graciously and without any hassle, which I really appreciated. I started with the focaccia, which was delicious, and for my main dish I ordered the squid ink bucatini with chicken. It was truly outstanding and easily the highlight of the night. I also ordered an espresso martini, which was your average espresso martini but paired well with my order. Overall, everything from the service to the food was fantastic. Terra GR made my birthday feel memorable, and I will absolutely be back another round of that incredible squid ink bucatini. I can see why people give Terra five star but since I ordered the wrong items. It is a 3 stars for me. 1.corn risotto taste exactly like cream corn from a can, with lime juice. $26. Chef did a good job making the risotto but the flavor was a shocker. I prefer regular risotto. 2. Lamb meatball, is just lamb kafta shape in meatball shape. I thought it would be Italian meatball since most items in the menu is Italian. If u come here, just get pizza and pasta. That's what everyone getting and they look good. Our server was really kind and attentive, we got a great seat by the window and had a lovely view of east town. I had the pie in the sky cocktail which tasted like liquid apple pie and was delicious. Simple, comfortable decor with house music playing, but not too loud, still a family-friendly atmosphere. Our waiter was prompt but also gave us extra time when we needed it. For an appetizer, we shared the brussels sprouts, which for $16 was a big portion! We also shared the pesto pizza; it is neapolitan style pizza, which is my favorite. The crust was so good! We also shared the short rib ragu gnocchi which had a good amount of shredded short rib, and the gnocchi were cooked like a soft pillow. If I needed dessert, I probably would've tried the pistachio cheesecake that was on the "specials" menu. Terra is a restaurant that would be hard to find with the outside of the building being right by Terra Bagels, and the door not having any discernment of Terra GR. Parking is validated, in the parking lot to the right of the building. We stumbled upon this restaurant due to their social media posting of how they source their ingredients as well as how their chefs creative flow works. Our waitress was phenomenal and explained the way Terra was formed, what they were passionate about, and specials. There wasn't a moment I felt the need to find my waitress, and she had an instinct of knowing when to check in when we needed something. Magnificent Bastard - Floral, Citrus, Strong Thornwhip - Sweet, Pleasant, Smooth Mussels were salty and had a lot of umami. Mussels were steamed perfectly, causing it to almost melt in your mouth which I have never experienced with mussels before. The broth/sauce it is steamed in is very intense and flavorful, getting this during happy hour almost feels wrong, and should be an absolute must get everytime. Beet and Burrata salad was fresh, subtle pickling flavor, and very smooth and creamy. I think more pistachio and a little bit more salt would've brought this to the next level. Kale Caesar salad is the traditional salad and was very saucy. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the salad. Hot Honey Pizza - Has mild spice, nothing too overpowering, and is a very savory dish. I believe the cheese is homemade, or at least it tasted like it. One of the best pizzas I've had. I wish it had a bit more spice to it, but that could probably be accomplished with a side of red pepper flakes. Mushroom Risotto w/scallops - Scallops were cooked perfectly, felt like they were basted in butter with how rich and flavorful they were. The seasoning on this dish was absolutely perfect and brings you to maximum flavor town. Risotto was cooked perfectly as well. Overall I think if you look at a keyword I used, it would be perfect. Everything here is thought out, well articulated, presented with intention, and done with passion. I highly recommend visiting here if you haven't already, it is a hidden gem in Grand Rapids that I feel doesn't get enough love. read more

Terra has been such a staple in GR for many years that I sometimes forget that it's there (especially since I don't venture into Eastown very often). However, my friends and I went recently for brunch and really enjoyed it! There's a lot of metered street parking but there is also a parking lot next door that you can get validated (who doesn't love free parking?!) if you dine in. My friend and I split the breakfast pizza and it was more than plenty for us to share plus take home for leftovers! It's a lovely woodfire pizza with eggs, sausage, potatoes and a lovely little drizzle sauce. Perfect brunch, with plenty to go around and share! I definitely enjoyed my experience and feel like I need to go back and try their dinner menu again soon. For starters we called in to put in a take-out order and we were put on hold for 10 minutes. We then just hung up and decided to order online. We noticed the prices were +$2 more for ordering online for each item compared to the menu on their website. That should have been a reason enough to avoid but we wanted to try it after driving by for several years now. We paid $90 for 2 sides and 2 entrees plus tip. The roasted vegetables were cold and unappetizing. The carrot dish was waaay too spicy and had very few carrots. The rigatoni was over cooked, mushy and overly salty. The gnocchi plate lacked integrity, was very mushy, bland and not light and fluffy as one would expect a $28 plate of gnocchi to be. Would not order from Tera again. read more

Mmmm Terra GR is one of those local favorites that I always recommend to visitors and newcomers to GR. They are always reliable for a fresh and satisfying meal. You can never grow tired of Terra as they update their menus from season to season as well. This last time I visited, my friend and I started out with the focaccia and whipped feta. Soo good! The focaccia was fluffy and the feta/olives/olive oil mixture was a perfect addition on top of the bread. We then moved on to our pasta dishes - the rigatoni bolognese and the pesto spaghetti. These dishes had the perfect amount of seasoning and weren't too salty. We both had leftover pasta to bring home as well. For drinks, I tried out the beet margarita and loved it! I ordered a beermosa and my husband ordered something gingery (his was better) for food we opted to try the biscuits and gravy with an egg added and he got the salmon Benedict. Their wood-fired pizzas are really yummy and I just had the brunch pizza again for the first time in ages. It was tasty but I didn't love the super thick cut bacon as it was a bit fatty. Service is usually great at Terra, and they'll write your name on the menu if you're celebrating a special occasion. Definitely make a reservation for dinner at Terra, as they do fill up quickly and there's not a ton of space to wait inside. Terra offers gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. It's also cool that they use local farms and suppliers. Note that they don't have a fryer, so you won't be able to get fries with your burger or sandwich. Pastas and desserts are usually well done at Terra. There is validated parking available in the structure next door and there are a few street spots right outside. Last time I was there I had to park a few blocks away, but there's residential street parking nearby. read more
