A cute little restaurant close to Notre Dame and the River Seine! If you sit at the front of the restaurant, you can get a view of both and during the summer, they leave the front open so that you can enjoy the fresh air and the view even better. The staff were friendly and professional, offering us recommendations and giving us a great table despite not having reservations. Our grilled prawns and roasted trout dishes were both beautifully plated, delicious, and healthy! We'd definitely recommend it for dinner. A warm welcome and a fine meal in a quirky little space. True, we didn't expect to hear the Lambada song gently rocking from a small speaker as we sat down under the chandeliers, but the food and service more than made up for it. Every dish was excellent - these folks really know how to cook a piece of fish, not to mention how to braise beef chuck - and arrived in good time. Wines were reasonably priced and well chosen. It is only like 10 tables big and has only 2 waitresses which is plenty because they are really good and on top of their game. This elegant, refined and charming restaurant is putting out picture perfect food that you only see in magazines. It is on the expensive side of the restaurants in the area but it is well deserved. Service is impeccable and flavor and presentation could not be better. If you are super hungry or if you like to have big plates of food... this is not the place. Very little plates delicately prepared and plated with lots of color and every little item in that plate has a purpose to entice your palate. We had things from the chef's daily menu and also from their regular menu. A lobster appetizer in between a crunchy cracker with creamy avocado and quinoa/Couscous mix. (Very good) The fish of the day, Perch fish which is a very soft white meat fish cooked to perfection and presented with dry apple chips... excellent. And from the menu ... their lamb loin. All delicious. You must have their cheese course at the end... their choices and quality of cheese is wonderful. This restaurant deserves to have a spotlight. A beautiful evening in a higher caliber traditional French restaurant. We sat in the basement which was elegant and sexy. No one does basements like the Europeans. Our waiter was stuffy at first but he warmed up to our humor and even gave us an additional desert which is a true rarity in Paris, we enjoyed him very much. The tables were lovely, complete with silver and roses. Our oysters were clean and fresh, soups, lobster and steaks were delicious. Our daughters fish was cooked and flavored superbly. Le Reminet is a lovely restaurant a few steps from the shadow of the Notre Dame. Their menu is intriguing, and the interior enchanting. Yeah, I said "enchanting." And I meant it. Upon discovering we were American, our host apologetically informed us that the table outside was suddenly reserved, and we were relegated into the cellar with the other English speakers. I might've been insulted, but...well, look at me; I wouldn't want me out front scaring customers away either. Also, Le Reminet's is without a doubt the most charming and romantic cellar in the history of mankind. Once settled in the cellar with cocktails, we decided to order off the regular menu.* We opted to start with the gazpacho with avocado sorbet and the tuna with artfully arranged raw vegetables. For our mains, the double-cut pork chop and the sea bass. I'm going to spare you an extremely flowery and FANTASTICALLY written description...suffice is to say that each and every dish was strikingly beautiful, and for the most part, the flavors were well-balanced. Surprisingly though, the execution was not there. The polenta was dry, the tuna overcooked, and the pork chop too tough and chewy. Perhaps it was an off night in the kitchen, but Le Reminet seems to be the sort of place where appearance trumps taste. If atmosphere could be eaten, let me be the first to say that Le Reminet serves just about the most delicious I've ever had. In terms of food though -- despite the impeccable plating -- we ate far better (for less money) elsewhere in Paris. ___________ *By this I mean our waitress cruelly dangled the tasting menu and then ripped it away just to see me weep. Last night in Paris and we decide to try a tasting menu and came across this place on yelp. Called at 8:30pm to see if they can accommodate us at 8:45pm and they were able to. People at Paris eats late. If you go to any restaurant at around 6:30pm, there are only a few people there. Arrived at 8:45pm and was seated right away. The restaurant is kind of small and they try to fit as many as possible in that little place... so you will be elbow to elbow with the person sitting next to you. For the tasting menu, it was 65 euro for 2 starters, 2 main course, 2 cheese choice, and a dessert for each person. Yes.. I said it right.. you get 2 starters and 2 main courses.. just in smaller portions. Starters: Fresh Oysters - mmmmm you can taste the freshness and the vinegar/onion sauce that comes with it made it even yummier. If you like fresh oysters, you have to try their sauce here! Small veal tartare with condiments and grated lime - another refreshing dish and so yummy. ......and the wait starts...... 45 mins later... Pressed foie gras and smoke snake fish - O...M....G.... DELICIOUS! highly recommend this dish. This is my 3 time having foie gras in Paris and this is by far the best one. The smoke flavor of the foie gras was unbelievable delicious! It also went very well with the apple sauce it came with. Yummy! Creamy Chickpeas puree with ricotta cheese, cherry tomatoes, smoke salmon, and bacon crumbles - another delicious dish. All the flavors went very well together. Try to get a little bit of everything in one bite and see how the flavors come together. ..... and the wait continues... 45 mins later... Main course: Sea bass with coquels, small leeks and vegetables with curry and lime sauce - Yummy! The fish was cooked to perfection and just melts in your mouth. The sauce was also very delicious. Lightly salted cod, baked potato and roasted octopus with chorizo - yummy! Again this fish was cooked to perfection and all the flavors blended so well together. ....and the waiting continues.....45 mins later... Veal slice with its liver on condiments, yellow carrot cream, small cake with bone marrow, and young carrot - took a bite of the liver and didn't like the texture of it, but the flavors were nice. I ordered the beef medium rare and it came out well done so the meat was a pretty tough. The flavors of this dish was good, but they overcooked the beef so it was just okay. Caramelized iberico pork on xeres and balsamic vinegar, gratinated zitone pasta with mushroom - just like the veal, the pork was over cooked and was a little tough, but the taste of the dish was pretty good. .... by this time, we were tired of waiting so long in between dishes and asked them to speed up the process a little.... it was already 11:50pm.. Cheese dishes... each person get to pick 2 and they brought out a selection for you to choose alone with a plate with salad, walnuts, and some kind of jelly for each person. Dessert: Lime flavored Creme Brulee - Yummy! I love creme brulee and this one was pretty yummy. Dark chocolate sorbet grand cru from Vietnam, peanut cookie crumbs, and milk chocolate chantilly - if you love chocolate, you must try this dish. The dark chocolate sorbet was delicious and so was the milk chocolate chantilly. Eat it with the cookie crumbs to get a crunch. Yummy. Overall, this was the best meal we had in Paris. The reason why its only a 4-star were becuase of the long waiting in between dishes and wish they had cooked the meat dishes a little better. read more

It's such a refreshing experience to come upon that mystically unobtainable Paris restaurant that you tend to always see in movies - but this time I did! With the help of my trusty iPhone, yelp.fr and what turned out to be a monster phone bill I navigated with some friends down some gorgeous back alleys to where I though Le Reminet was ... we looked around, couldn't see it, but in fact it was right behind us. Note: it's small and easily overlooked. Second major surprise. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Had I inadvertently stumbled into a parallel dimension where Parisian waiters were friendly and German tourists waited until 11am to book their spots at the poolside? No - it seems there are some places (in fact I know of quite a few) where the restaurant staff are genuinely pleased to see guests, even when they're ... uh ... foreign. The menu was classic French cuisine, with plenty of fish and other seafood (not always easy to find in Paris) and each dish was prepared wonderfully. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced and the ambience was cozy with subdued lighting (again, sometimes hard to find) and a very convivial conversational background buzz. We enjoyed our lunch on a sunny afternoon. It is a very small and intimate place with fine linens and rich, dark decor. The major draw back to the place is the lack of outdoor seating - they lack the sidewalk space as the door to the establishment opens immediately to the street. Located across the Seine River from Notre Dame and easy access over the Place De Artes bridge. There is a full bar and nice selections of wines. The staff were very responsive to our needs and questions. They do speak good English to get us through our meal. Our proteins were prepared well and the duck was delectable. The unique use of herb sorbet as a savory component was delightful. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a very nice and casual meal in a very cozy and intimate decor. P.S. - this was the only place we went to in Paris that had a Yelp! Sticker on their door. Let down. Really busy place with beautiful platings but the food left a bit to be desired. First plat was very nice both aesthetically and in flavor. It was a smoked ham (prosciutto) rolled with a white asparagus puree inside, figs and a vanilla bean sauce. More to it than that for sure. Very, very nice. However entrees weren't nearly as fabulous. Fish was actually undercooked and rubbery while the lamb was overcooked and the sweet bread (organ) dry. After 3 hours we had enough of the close quarters and didn't stick around for dessert. My friend and I should have had a wonderful time at Le Reminet - unfortunately, it's unlikely we'll ever return. Essentially, I believe this restaurant has an informal policy of seating certain individuals downstairs in its cellar room, and other individuals upstairs on the main floor. Here's what happened to us: My friend (who is Chinese) and I (American) arrived at 7:00pm after making a reservation on lafourchette.com. No one was sitting upstairs, but we were immediately taken downstairs, where three other customers (all Asian) were sitting. As the night went on, we noticed that more and more Asian customers were being seated downstairs with us - first a pair of Asian women and then a group of 3-4 Asian women. By the time we left nearly all the customers seated downstairs with us were Asian (except for one white couple and one Asian woman accompanied by a white man). As we walked out of the restaurant we noticed all the customers on the top floor were white. In all other respects we had a great experience at Le Reminet; our servers were kind, attentive, and very understanding of our limited French language skills. The food was delicious and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. But we don't feel we can return to a restaurant that keeps its customers segregated according to race or national origin. After emailing Le Reminet's management about my concerns and receiving no response, I would encourage you to avoid this restaurant. Perhaps, eventually, they'll reconsider this discriminatory business model. read more

Initially, I was a little worried because the restaurant is located in a pretty touristy area right by Notre Dame, and there were quite a few Americans eating there as well. So, I assumed that it would just be another mediocre restaurant catering to tourists. Fortunuately, our experience was quite the contrary - we were all pretty blown away by the quality and originality of the food. Each dish was prepared to perfection, from the appetizers to the dessert. The girls ordered the drink special, a champagne with raspberry purée which was delightful. The boys ordered beers. Next, they brought out a complimentary broth which was so good I could've eaten it as my meal. We ordered two appetizers, the spring rolls and the burrata and the burrata was definitely the star. Each of our entrees was delicious - the pork, tuna, monkfish, and pigeon. We absolutely loved our desserts as well - the chocolate cake and creme brûlée. I have eaten at Le Reminet twice at this point, once on business in January and once for pleasure, July of this year. The most recent meal was excellent. My wife and I were looking for a pleasant night out and chose to spend it at Le Reminet. The restaurant is located a short walk from Notre Dam and Ile-Saint-Louie. We started in with the gazpacho because the evening was quite warm. The gazpacho was served with a goat cheese, avocado sorbet and olive caponata brochette, served over a Parmesan and olive crostini. The combination worked well together, the lime infused avocado sorbet was served very cold and matched well with the goat cheese, olive and puff pastry. The gazpacho was very cold and served in chilled wine glass. The flavor of each individual starter was excellent, the presentation was superb, and quite striking. I chose to eat the two elements of the dish separately, because eating them together was somewhat awkward. For the main course my wife has the fillet of beef with foie gras, green cabbage and fries with a reduced duck gravy. I had the double pork chop, served with mushroom polenta, roasted apples and smoked emulsion. My wife's steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, the presentation was pleasing and the combination of favors was outstanding. The double pork chop was elegantly presented and the polenta has fluffy and light, having a almost bread stuffing like quality. The roasted apple and smoky emulsion finished the dish perfectly, I could have eaten double the portion size, not because there wasn't enough, but because the flavors were so incredibly alluring We had a bottle of the 2010 Chateauneuf Du Pape with our meal. Le Reminet offers a wide variety of wines in all price ranges making food pairing both affordable and easy. For dessert my wife had the soft shortbread with light lemon cream, fresh strawberries and lime sorbet, I had the cheese plate. My wife had a glass of their brut Champagne, I had the rosé. The presentation and desserts completed a almost perfect dining experience. I booked the evening through, thefork.com, and received a 40% discount on the meal. I never had to ask for the discount, it appeared on the bill at the end of the meal. I will be back to this restaurant again in the future. Though we didn't have reservations, we were lucky to have been seated right away as they had a table for 2 ready when we got there. Service was excellent and food equally good! Our favorite dish from the entire meal was the pan-seared foie gras. It was crispy on the outside and each bite melted in our mouth. He got the steak and I ordered the sole. The steak presentation was beautiful and creative and had a great sauce. The sole was a little on the fishy side but it had a good risotto accompaniment. Dessert was absolutely divine!
