Felt adventurous so I tried something new on Uber Eats. Reviews were very positive and the pictures looked great so I gave it a shot. Had their most popular La Morta which features focaccia, mortadella, cilantro pesto, fresh mozzarella, pistachio. It was a nice portion of meat and looked beautiful. Meat was moist and the pistachio and pesto was a nice touch. Also tried their La Boeuf which was good. Portion was also quite large. I do wish the beef was served more on the medium rare side though. Leslie's Sandwich Room is incredible, and it will be my go-to spot the next time I'm in Leslieville around lunch time. I had the Morta sandwich and stole a bite of my partner's Bomba sandwich. The Morta is their best seller and given that it was my first time visiting, I wanted to go with the crowd pleaser. Also, any sandwich that has pesto in it is a good sandwich. It was delicious, and I definitely recommend getting it toasted and hot. The Bomba was also a great option! I don't take very well to spicy food, and the combination of spicy mayo and spicy garlic spread kind of scared me off. It has a bit of a kick to it but it's really nothing most people shouldn't be able to handle. It has a ton of flavour, and I would actually opt for the Bomba rather than the Morta the next time around. Who am I kidding; I'll probably work my way around the menu. I really don't think you can go wrong here. Finally, the service was great! The gentleman at the counter was very friendly and quick to make recommendations to a bunch of newcomers. I don't often get out to the east end, so when I do make the trip I try to make it worth my while. Our meal at Leslie's Sandwich Room was definitely worth my while. We shared two of their sandwiches: La Bomba ("focaccia, roasted chicken, white American cheese, sriracha mayo, sweet pickles, spicy garlic bomba"): This is exceptionally tasty. All the ingredients work really well together, and while the whole thing is definitely quite rich, I enjoyed the heck out of it. The Cure ("focaccia, salmon, beets, horseradish dill mayo, rye croutons"): I liked this one even better. It's very different but it really did taste like a super elevated tuna fish sandwich. I especially enjoyed those croutons. They gave the whole thing an irresistible crunch. I was eyeing some of their other sandwiches on offer, so I'll definitely be back. read more

If you're looking for a solid sandwich, Leslie's sandwich room is a great spot. It has ample seating, and even if it doesn't, if you visit in good weather there are plenty of benches outside and a park nearby to enjoy your food. The service is simple and quick with a cashier at the front and tables where you seat yourself. We ordered the Nola and the La Morta sandwiches. Both have different ingredients and flavour profiles, but were also very tasty in their own way. If you're a fan of olives and a plethora of cured meat, and you enjoy the muffuletta sandwich from which the Nola gets its name, I would not hesitate to get it. If you're looking for something a little summery, lighter, and simpler in terms of selection of meat, La Morta is a great option. Went in after a gym class around 2pm and they were all sold out of sandwiches except for one kind. They said it would take another 20 minutes for the others which wasn't bad but I decided to just try out the one they had. The deli sandwich was a great balance between foccacia and deli meats but felt like it was missing a bit more sauce. Otherwise it was what this neighborhood needed - a good sandwich shop. It's a bit higher on the price points but very comparable to other good sandwich shops in the city (about $15 for a sandwich). They had a good selection of house chips (less than $3/bag) and they even have salad and a kids grill cheese option. There was plenty of space to sit inside which is always appreciated and there was a washroom as well. Looking forward to trying their other sandwiches and foccacia is also available to buy in a couple of weeks! read more

Leslie's Sandwich Room located along Queen St. E. near Heward Ave. is Leslieville's hottest spot for delicious house made cold sandwiches. The sandwich menu is vast and has a variety of options for everyone. There is seating available inside the store but you can also get your sandwiches to go as well. There are salads and homemade chips where you can order a combo with those items and a drink. I stopped by Leslie's Sandwich Room on Wed for lunch. The place was busy as I entered and you are immediately drawn to the display of sandwiches. The sandwiches are all freshly premade so the shop can sell out quickly (unless you want to wait for the next restock of sandwiches!). I decided to get combo #1 (sandwich, chips, and a drink). For the sandwich, I opted to order the 7 E 11 (Pullman's loaf, egg salad, kewpie mayonnaise, togarashi, green onion), an ode to the egg salad sandwiches from 7 Eleven from Japan. Having had many of those egg salad sandwiches from Japan during my travels, I was excited to see how this version would compare to the real deal. For the chips I opted for the peanut butter and vanilla flavoured chips (what an interesting combination!). For my drink I got a La Croix sparkling water. Service was friendly and my order was placed at the cashier quickly. The orders are quickly prepped where there is a place for you to pick up to the left of the store. In terms of the food, the 7 E 11 sandwich did remind me of the egg salad sandwich found at 7 Eleven in Japan! The bread was soft and fluffy (no crusts!) and the green onion and togarashi seasoning added an extra dimension to the sandwich. I thoroughly enjoyed the stuffed sandwich which didn't feel too heavy. The peanut butter and vanilla chips were really interesting in a good way! It was a unique savoury and sweet combination I didn't expect to like so much (it definitely grows on you!). The chips also a nice crisp and texture to them. Overall, delicious new spot for housemade cold sandwiches! Would definitely return to try more of their offerings! read more

Was exited to try this new sandwich shop in Leslieville. I visited at 1:30pm on a Sunday, looking forward to trying their La Morta sandwich and unfortunately it was sold out. Although I was disappointed, I was able to look through the selection of prepared sandwiches that remained and chose the NOLA lunchbox combo #1, which included a bag of their sea salt and malt vinegar chips and drink. The NOLA was on Focaccia bread and included olive salad white anchovy, soppressata, pepperoni, capicola, coppa, mortadella. The service was great and everything was expertly prepared and boxed. My initial impression when I opened it was that it was too small for $16, but it turned out to be filling and delicious meal. I also enjoyed the chips and Italian lemonade. It was a great experience and I look forward to coming back and trying the La Morta. read more

Always down to try a new place in the neighbourhood hoping for a new regular spot. This was unfortunately not it. Pros The sandwiches are big. Unless you can eat a Subway foot long on your own, you'll probably have leftovers or should share something with a friend. The meat ones especially look very generous. They ran out of the La Marta one from the person in front of me so we got one Green Goddess and one 7E11. The bread that they use for these sandwiches is quite excellent. Not sure if they bake it in-house or if they source it elsewhere, but well done! Some tables for you to sit and eat, but most people there were doing grab-and-go. Cons I don't consider myself a picky eater at all but most of the sandwiches had an offensive ingredient in it that prevented me from trying it- namely, horseradish and olives. I'm not sure you can do substitutions because all of the sauces and tapenades were pre-made, so I'm sure you can go without altogether. For $16 each I was expecting the sandwiches to be assembled fresh but they were pre-assembled and lived in a fridge on the counter. This probably makes sense for their business model. It's ok for the person taking orders on the iPad to not wear gloves, but the two ppl who were preparing the sandwiches is another story. I watched these two individuals open the sliding door of the fridge with their hands, grab a sandwich, open the sandwich, drizzle sauce or put on tapenade, recover a piece of meat that had fallen off onto the parchment paper, wrap the sandwich, put it in a bag, and had it over to customers with their BARE CROSS-CONTAMINATED hands and repeat this process over again. Maybe I'm a paranoid germiphobic freak and most people won't care. But even the "sandwich artists" at Subway wear a fresh pair of gloves with every order. They charged me 50 cents to buy a paper cup to have some water lol. The water wasn't even in a pitcher ready to go- I had to fetch it from the sink faucet where people wash their hands and have probably touched the faucet accidentally as well. The egg salad sandwich is likely meant to be an interpretation of a Japanese convenience store tamago sando. My bf said the scallions and seasoning shouldn't have been coating the side of the sandwich, but incorporated inside. I realize this is probably for aesthetic purposes so I didn't mind the sides covered in scallions (and I mean covered). Yea I'm not sure about this place- I might still come back and try the La Morta but not racing to do so. read more

My boyfriend and I went here to pick up some sandwiches and go to check out the new lookout. When we got there it was clean and the sandwich display case was fully stacked with huge sandwiches. We got the weekend special and the beef so we could try two different kinds. The sLa Dinde (country Turkey, bacon, romaine, tomato, mayo, pineapple and mango) and La Boeuf (focaccia, roast beef, crispy shallots, sharp cheddar, horseradish rose Marie) . The people who work there were quick to prepare our sandwiches. I loved watching how they wrap them in parchment and then cut them so it's easy to eat. My partner and I had a double lunch date with some rock climbing friends of his here. This restaurant's ambience is like an elevated deli. I got the tuna sandwich and my partner got the roast beef one. My partner and I were glad we tried the place but value was slightly overpriced as it's cold sandwich that was pre-made and the flavours and texture were somewhat lacking for the price point. The actually tuna sandwich is made of "Sesame bun, raw tuna, preserved lemon and olive sauce, tomato mayo" it wasn't bad but it wasn't memorable either, I wish there was a pop of lemon zest to pack a punch with flavor. The texture was disappointingly uniform. The roast beef sandwich sounded good but seemed to lack a savouriness (a gravy dip perhaps) or difference in texture, and so this aspect felt more like a bland cold cut sandwich. The chips sounded interesting as an in-house home made snack but despite being covered with patches of seasoning lacked the punch you usually get with ketchup chips.
