Daniel Jr. is polite and respectful, checked my pool pump and timer, and he told me that my pool pump had already given up and needed a replacement. He gave me a quote for a replacement, and his price is within the price range (I already checked how much it will cost to replace it). Daniel Jr. told me that he would come the following day around 7 a.m., and the next day, he was already at my place before 7 am. He got the job done in less than two hours; he cleaned his work area and helped me set up the new pool pump. Overall, my experience with this company is top-notch, with 100% customer service in mind. I'm glad I did. I was not familiar with the Vita spa brand that Custom Spas Direct sells. There's very little information available online. After doing some digging, I determined that Vita is a decent, mid-range spa with competitive pricing. Nothing fancy, but it's built with good components from companies like Balboa Water Group. Dealing with Custom Spas Direct has been fantastic. It's a small company and we interacted directly with Jim Galpin, the owner. Jim is a straightforward guy and he was very helpful in choosing a spa. Since I was unfamiliar with Vita, I had a lot of questions and he patiently answered all of them. He quickly responded whenever I sent him a text with a question or request. After the purchase, he was super flexible with regard to delivery, setup timing, coordinating with the electrician's schedule, etc. The delivery and setup was quick and well done. The installer did a good job answering all of my questions. We've had the spa six months and have had a couple of minor issues. One was probably due to user error on my part and the other was not. In both cases, Jim responded to my texts immediately and quickly resolved my issue, even during a holiday week. A simple site inspection could have identified potential issues before installation. There was a measurement discrepancy that required the unit to be modified. I appreciate that Tropicana corrected the issue at no additional cost, and I want to acknowledge that they did take responsibility for making that correction. However, the larger concern was the lack of clarity regarding utility hookups. I was later referred to information on the back page of the contract regarding these requirements, but I never received or reviewed that page during the purchasing process. Had those details been clearly provided and discussed upfront, I could have made the necessary preparations before delivery and installation. Because the island was installed without identifying these access challenges beforehand, I have incurred additional costs. My electrician charged an additional $300 due to the difficulty accessing the electrical connection, and I now need to hire a plumber for approximately $500 because the access area is too confined for me to complete the plumbing connections myself. The Tropicana team has been responsive and professional in addressing some of these issues, and I appreciate their willingness to work through problems. However, for a premium product at this price point, I believe the installation process should include a site verification and a much clearer discussion of customer responsibilities before installation begins. The island itself looks great, and I hope to enjoy it for many years. My feedback is intended to help Tropicana improve the customer experience for future customers investing in a significant backyard project.

We had great conversations and built a good rapport, especially during the pandemic when I was working remotely and would often see him while he was servicing the pool. Unfortunately, over the last year or so, I began noticing a decline in the quality of service. Once I returned to the office and was no longer regularly observing the pool maintenance, several issues started to become apparent. I believe Gil may have hired additional help as his business grew, and the level of attention to my pool seemed to suffer as a result. Over the last several months, I noticed my pool's condition gradually deteriorating. My spa stopped working, the electrical panel door was frequently left open, the filter pump lid was occasionally loose and leaking water, and my pool cleaner sat in the same location for weeks without moving. I eventually discovered a broken Jandy valve that appeared to have been damaged for quite some time. What concerned me most was that I was never informed about any of these issues. I also found several bottles of algae-treatment chemicals discarded in a bucket in my yard. While this alone doesn't prove anything improper, it did raise concerns about whether chemical treatments were being used to mask underlying maintenance issues rather than addressing them (maybe another leading indicator to the increased annual service due to rising chemical costs). To be fair, I provided a full month's notice before ending service as a courtesy after nearly seven years as a customer. However, during that final month I began noticing algae spores developing in the pool, which further raised concerns about whether the pool was still being serviced consistently during the last couple of weeks. While the occasional price increases were noticeable, in all honesty, that wasn't my primary concern. My expectation is that routine maintenance includes identifying and communicating equipment problems before they become larger issues. In the final months, it felt more like a quick stop to remove a few leaves, throw in some chemicals, and move on, rather than the comprehensive pool service I had received for many years. I appreciate the good years of service and the personal relationship we developed, which is why this review is mixed rather than entirely negative. However, the decline in maintenance quality, lack of communication regarding equipment issues, and concerns about the consistency of service over the last few months ultimately led me to cancel after nearly seven years.

For years, our outside drains were clogged, and I found myself setting up pumps during the storms to get the pools of water away from our home. Every year, I would tell myself that I would get the drains cleared. Before the rains came this past winter, I hired a company to hydro jet the pipes. They tried to clear the drains, but because they were so clogged, their equipment failed. Again, I was setting up the pumps during the rain storm. So, I researched and found Joel and Sons. I met Joel and he examined our front/back yards. He gave an excellent and fair estimate that would fix the drainage problems. Throughought the entire project, Joel sent videos of the work being performed. He and the crew went above and beyond to make sure we wouldn't have any future issues. Went by leslies on my way to work, didn't realize they didn't open till 9 but David was nice enough to let me in early. I've had a lot of problems lately with my pool that this location has helped out with, lately I've had a real bad calcium problem David set me up with the scale remover and scale preventer to get rid of my problem once and for all. He was pretty direct about what I needed but in a nice way. He even told me to bring back a water sample so he can check the calcium levels in my pool. He explained to me that I could fire my pool guy and do it myself if I wanted and showed me the basic way to treat my pool. I'll be back here again. read more

I wasn't willing to pay that much and lost out on $100 because I didn't hire them to de-green my pool. However, I did want them to fix my backwash system, but was told they were "too busy" for that job. They ignored me when I told them I was willing to wait for an opening in their schedule. Although professional, they're clearly only interested in taking on high paying jobs.
