The guy that came to fix my soul system really knew what he was talking about and was able to fix it. I was afraid they were gonna have to put a new salt system and instead he just was able to clean it and found a couple of problems and fixed them. All the price was extremely fair. I have no problems with it. I will use them again and again and again in fact, I believe every six months I'm gonna have them come and clean the salt system and all that. He checked my chemicals and they were fine. they took a little longer than I would've liked to come out, but I guess if you find someone good they're real busy. read more

You go on vacation and pump shuts off and you arrive home to a green pool. I took my water sample and pictures to Whittier Village pools, I was helped by the water wizard Diane. She helped analyze my water and recommended a step by step procedure. It worked great! I am thankful for the kindness and experience she gave me. Rating a pool service isn't as straight forward as it sounds. I suspect that if you're a longtime pool owner, you realize this. We built our first pool in 2015, so a lot of what we now know, we learned on the fly. One of the things we learned is that pool service providers are all over the map when it comes to service and none of them are perfect. Finding a really good one is tough. Whittier Village Pools is a really good one. We have now used three service providers for our pool. We have been with WVP for a couple years now and it has for the most part been very good. Over the years, we've learned that you shouldn't choose your pool service provider based on the guy that cleans your pool. That guy is almost always sort of a prototype of who you'd expect your pool cleaner to be: Part Jeff Spicoli (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) part Morris Buttermaker (Bad News Bears). These guys will make mistakes. These guys will forget to tighten your filter lid. These guys will forget to turn your system back on. These guys will occasionally do a substandard job cleaning your pool. All of that happens sometimes. Finding a service that limits the mistakes while doing a consistently good job is critical. Whittier Village Pools provides a consistent, quality service. I work from home, so I'm here when our tech is, and he puts in the time and does a nice job for the most part. With other services we've used in the past, the tech is often in and out within fifteen minutes. It's impossible to maintain a pool in that timeframe. But what sets WVP apart from the other services we've used is the level of expertise beyond the guy who comes to the house every week. The knowledge and willingness of the upper level personnel at Whittier Village is truly outstanding. Brian and Andre (and others, I'm sure) are next-level when it comes to their knowledge and the time they take with you when you need them. It doesn't happen often, but a couple times a year, pool owners need service beyond the weekly cleaning. When I have needed that level of service, they have come through quickly and completely. More important than anything, is that I have learned so much about my pool from these men. The time they take and the effort they put in is really second to none. As I have learned about my pool, I can often figure through issues I'm having without needing to call them. Other times, I know that I'll need to schedule an extra filter cleaning or am having some other problems. Without that next-level service provided, I wouldn't be able to do that. So, they've actually made me a more competent owner - which is important too. Bottom line: there is no perfect pool service company; there are just too many complicated variables involved. Whittier Village is priced a bit higher than many of the competitors, but considering the expert level personnel available if/when you need them, they're worthy of that price point. read more

I called Whittier Village Pools and talked to Dianne about purchasing a replacement filter cartridge for my 5 month old filter. This was my first time cleaning my new pool filter. As I was cleaning I noticed what appeared to be about 6 perfectly cut pleats across one of my cartridges. Dianne and I agreed that the cut had to be a manufacture error. As I was giving Dianne my part numbers she mentioned if it was still under warranty? I didn't really know so she asked me to contact the Jandy service tech, which I did. Come to find out that it was still under warranty and the tech has since ordered me the new cartridge. Dianne could have not said a word about the warranty and I would have spent a couple hundred dollars on a new cartridge but she didn't. Called for service on my pool equipment in the morning. Was told they were booked for the day but would put the order in to see if they can come out Tuesday or Wednesday. I called to check the status and was told that my order was still on the board and will stay on the board until there is a opening. I asked if that means my order can be up there longer and he said yes. At that time I asked for my pool order service to be removed and he was quick to remove it and not even try to keep me as a customer. I understand companies get busy, but when owning and running a business it's about quality and making sure customers are satisfied and feel that there needs will be meet. Whittier Village pools does opposite. No compassion in the job. You have a customer that's trying to figure out there pool equipment problem. Better customer service needs to be done. How about we will try our best to get you in asap and will follow up with the next best time. I kept asking for some type of time line and they couldn't give it to me, so I took my services somewhere else. read more

Service is absolutely terrible unless they send out Andre. They hire inexpereinced, lazy kids out of high school that have no clue what they are doing. Several different pool cleaners (they refer to them as technicians...lol) would show up and sit in their truck (apparently they have GPS) for 5-15 minutes then slowly meander out and spend less than 10 minutes in the back yard. My cameras would record their arrival and departure. When I would notify the office "Dean" would answer and pretend to be concerned and tell me he or someone would get back to me, which of course NEVER happened. They would arbitrarily change service days and employee/pool cleaners and never coordinate with even a simple phone call or email but of course they would charge you for the service unless you called them out on it. I had high hopes and they started out good but it quickly went down hill when they kept switching the kids around. I would never recommend these disorganized folks who hire any kid off the street and call them "technicians". In summary, HORRIBLE service, lack of coordination/communication and hack employees they call techicians to attempt to hold their failing pool cleaning service together. My poor review matches the other complaints of past customers. read more

Diagnosed our problem as a broken pump. Told us we needed a new pump, charged us $2300 to replace the pump and when we called to tell Diane it still wasn't working, her response was "do you want your old pump back?" Lazy incompetent kids, show up different days and perform there "service" for about 10 minutes then go and sit in there truck for another 10 minutes or so then finally leave. If you're looking for a competent weekly cleaning service then I suggest you keep looking. read more

We purchased a home about a year ago with a pool they have been servicing for seems like quite awhile. We kept them on because their prices seemed fair and their people honest. Just a couple weeks ago we decided to have the tile cleaned and plaster acid washed. Once they got into the job it was clear the previous owner had probably not done anything like this for over 20 years. Brian, who we LOVE, used all his knowledge and made special efforts to get our pool back to where it should be without complaint or going back on price. Been customers with Whittier Village Pools for several years. While the price has increased, the quality of service has significantly decreased in our opinion. Not happy with the brand of products that they use. Some of the pool cleaners have been very good. Others have been poor. The biggest disappointment, though, has been with the office staff. Repeatedly experienced the office being unresponsive to phone messages and dropping the ball despite stating they would give us a call back after looking into things to resolve a problem. Wish we had more of a professional and customer-oriented experience. read more

Friends with pools... I'm adding a recommendation for anyone who runs into trouble with equipment, or frankly anything else with their pool! My remote control died a couple of weeks ago, and when I called Hayward (pool equipment), it was looking grim for my wallet! They were telling me that I needed to upgrade my entire system to the Omnihub (I mean, sure, I would love to do this, but uhh, $4-5k, not so much!). In desperation I turned to eBay to see if I could find a remote that you know, looked like mine, hahaha. But then, how could I really tell that it would work with my system? And the remotes on eBay were around $350, still a lot, but better than $4k, but not if it didn't work, haha. After looking around for a certified Hayward specialist, I found Whittier Village Pools. Believe it or not, they are the closest Hayward specialist to me. I cannot recommend them highly enough. John, one of the owners, took the time to talk to me, find out what I needed, asked me to send pix of my equipment et al to his cell phone and said he would call Hayward and get back to me with options. I figured I was going to have to chase him down, but no, he actually called me back, and asked me for a little more info about the pool panel, more pix. He called Hayward again, called me again. Today, I drove to his shop, and purchased a new remote from him, which is an upgrade from my old one. His colleague was also there, and said that they are having to replace all of the remotes that were like mine due to age of the equipment, but that a lot of the time they were also needing to replace the antennae too, but that I should try it first. John was standing there and added, "I think it's going to work! Take it home, follow the instructions I told you to install it, and see what happens, we can always get a new antennae and install it if we have to, but see if the remote will interface with the antennae you have." John saved me $350, and now has a customer for as long as I own a pool. I did exactly what he told me and voilà, the remote works like a charm! And ha, it's MUCH cooler than the old remote! Anyway, pool people, these guys are the REAL deal. Customer service, honest, and totally saved me a truckload of money. read more

Let me start by saying Andre is great! He's knowledgeable, polite and responsible. My complaint is with office staff. They don't answer phone, messages or follow through on customer requests. There is a huge disconnect in customer service. I've had their services for years and was content. However, this past year, I feel like I'm throwing my money away. They have changed my cleaning days and scheduled time without consulting. The service lately is awful. Last week, I went out to pool on the cleaning day, it was green in spots and full of leaves. I needed a warranty replacement for my salt cell that was not purchased at Whittier village pools but when I called Dean answered the phone and was very helpful and said come on down and we will help out. I drove 25 miles and was so happy with the friendly staff and professional service. I only wish I had a pool store like this close to my home. Whittier Village Pools was the company cleaning our pool when we purchased our house so we decided to keep them. We recently placed them on hold while we remodeled our pool. When the work was done, two months later, I called them to start the service again. After two weeks, several calls and messages, one of the employees tells me that they are too busy and will probably not be able to service my pool anymore, that maybe I should look elsewhere. I was so annoyed that they gave me the run around for two weeks that I decided to call the person in charge of scheduling (forgot her name) to complain about ignoring my calls and messages. After finally getting a hold of her she decided that they would come out. When Andre finally came out he told me that they really just did not want to return to service my pool because he hated cleaning the leaves that fell in my pool (it only got bad on really windy days, it was not a weekly occasion!) I pointed out that we had already trimmed our tree so it would be even less. The following week I get a call that our service is increasing from $110 a month to $150, to let them know if we want to continue our service. We got the hint, you don't want to service our pool. I get you have the right to refuse service to anyone, but this was very unprofessional. I noticed the owner mentioned boycotting Yelp, and I do believe in reaching out to businesses first. Well I did, and this is what happened. How was our service before this happened? They came every week, as was expected. They did switch pool guys a few times because we put out a snake warning sign so they can be aware, not because they actually saw one lol. We've been here over 3 years and have only seen 3 in that time so we figured better to be safe. Eventually Andre was the only one that would come out. Just a note if you live in LHH. read more

Needed to replace a gasket on a really really old pool pump. I had removed it to have it checked for other repairs; but I needed a gasket before I re-installed. Saturday morning, I went to Leslies on Whittier Blvd. I spent 10-15 minutes there, they had no clue; the part number was not in the computer. The service person called another store for help; no help there either. I was told to call corporate office on Monday morning for help. Thanks for nothing! I went across the street to Whittier Village Pools. The service lady looks at the pump, goes in the back for 2 minutes; returns with my gasket. Nice to have someone who knows what they are doing and doesn't need a computer to find a part. Thanks for the excellent service. read more

Not only did he do that but he gave me a sheet to follow, he did the measurements to the gallons per my pool size. All I had to do is follow the steps. Spent under $25 to fix my algae problem. We had this pool service for years, always satisfied. In the last six months some changes have taken place. I am not sure what has happened to Whittier Village Pools, but they got a new person in the office. She is very unreasonable, expects us to pay for pool service in advance, and sign a contract with them. She never returned our phone messages. When we refused to "do things her way", she sent a letter cancelling service. I don't know how they will stay in business with her, seemingly, in charge. I remodeled my pool about a year ago and was looking for a quality pool service company to maintain it; boy what a mistake using village pool was. From day one, I had nothing but issues with tons of algae and horrible service. After asking the company to replace my first pool man, they gave me another guy who was worse. After I posted my first review of Whittier Village Pools, they were finally able to come out and service my pool, As I said in my first review their service in the past was really good so I was not sure what had happened in regards to them not returning my calls or email. This time out they arrived on time and explained in detail what I needed. I have dealt with this technician before and he is definitely top notch. He knows what he is doing and I trust him with my pool. He took care of the problem and also offered some really good advice. The prior issue I had with them was just a lack of communication. The service on my pool has always been good. I understand that things happen. Hopefully it won't happen again and I am pretty sure it won't. The worst service ever. Tried getting some chemicals from their store had to wait 15 min for someone to ask me if I needed anything. They were spending more time talking on the phone rather than helping me. I'll now go to Leslie pool supply next time. I'm a owner of a pool and spa and needed some cleaning, but after that experience no way would I rely on their service.
