Although the other pool designers/builders did reply and some actually showed up to take photos, measurements and do a mock up design, Jason Jolfs of Xterior Creations took the cake on this one. Jason was very thorough and listened to everything I showed and explained to him about my backyard ideas. When I received the renderings back from Jason we had a winner. Out of all the designers I had met with, Jason nailed every single little detail I had shown and mentioned to him. He even included where our little chihuahua would be relaxing on the artificial turf in his rendering. Not to take anything away from the other designers since they all added their own design ideas/suggestions in the renderings but Jason just had every single thing we wanted in the design he created 1000%. The build process was swift and smooth thanks to our amazing project manager Marco. He was there with us every step of the way and walked us through everything we were to expect and encounter. The steps and time frame was quite accurate as well barring any weather delays. From the dig team to the truss to the concrete and plaster it was a very fun and interesting process to see happening. Marco always stopped by to check on the project and went above and beyond fixing/sorting a few things out himself when needed. For the cost of this pool project which was below the others bids, we definitely got our moneys worth and have been recommending Xterior Creations to friends and neighbors. In that time: * The heater has failed twice (and is currently not working again) * The chlorinator has been replaced * The pool lights have been replaced twice * The silver quartz finish already looks stained and bleached Maybe some of this is poor Hayward Industries equipment, but it's hard to know because the service tech changes constantly -- about every 6 weeks -- so there's zero accountability or continuity. This is a saltwater pool, yet instead of properly diagnosing or maintaining the chlorinator system, they routinely dump gallons of liquid chlorine into the pool every week. Actual "service" often feels limited to: * Emptying the leaf basket * Lightly brushing the pool * Adding chemicals And nearly everything beyond that becomes an extra charge: * Chemicals? Extra. * Filter cleaning? Extra. * Repairs? Extra. * Someone coming out because the system they maintain stopped working? Extra. Worse, many of the techs seemed unfamiliar with how the equipment even operates, making service calls frustrating and unproductive. What really bothered me was adding up the actual cost over three years. Once you include all the side charges, repair calls, chemical add-ons, and maintenance fees, the true cost is easily several times higher than the advertised "weekly service" price.
