When I arrived and asked about them, I was told they either don't make them anymore or didn't have any available. Instead, I ordered a chocolate cake and an apricot macaron. The macaron was delicious, but the cake was just okay. Overall, it was a bit disappointing not to find what I originally came for, but the macaron was definitely a highlight.

I absolutely love that everything is in a case and you help yourself with your own set of clean tongs. You then take your tray to the register to check out and they will heat up anything you like and box up anything you like. We enjoyed everything we ate and we are looking forward to going back. They have a membership club that you can sign up for for free and you can earn discounts and free stuff. Just for signing up we earned a free pastry.

While waiting for another guy behind the counter to bag my goodies, I happened to mention (to who I think was Norbert) that I'm learning German, and he spoke some basic German to me! Which I understood - OMG, must tell my German teacher. A couple weeks later I needed to bring desserts to our monthly Book Club meeting, and Annelore's was my first thought. I decided to visit their actual store in Cary. Even though it's an hour away from home, I stopped by one day when I had to go to Raleigh for an appointment. An Annelore's employee helped me with selecting about six cake slices and 2-3 different bars, plus some German cookies. The inside of the store is very clean, and there are some places to sit if you'd like to eat there. The employees were kind and helpful (and patient, in my case, trying to decide what to buy for a Book Club group I'd never met in person). Annelore's German Bakery is a wonderful way to take care of your dessert needs and support a local business at the same time. If you need a dessert, cake, scones, or other treats for your home gathering, BBQ, church social, potluck, business lunch, or other event, I would definitely let Annelore's take care of that part for you! 10/10, highly recommend! I got lucky and snagged a spot near the front, though :) I looked around at everything and it all looked so tasty! I decided to grab a loaf of pumpernickel bread, but next time I'll probably get a dessert or two. The staff were helpful throughout my visit. They asked me if I wanted my bread sliced, and when I replied in the affirmative, gave me a helpful chart with a lot of different options for how thick I wanted each slice :) I took the bread home, stuck it in the oven, and ate it with some butter and jam. As soon as I placed the order, I sent a text message to confirm if my order went through and to see if I could get it delivered instead, which wasn't a problem at all! I was also given a timeframe of when Damien would bake and ship out my goods, which was accurate and fast. The hardest part was waiting for it to be delivered, which was 2 long days but that's only because I'm impatient. When I did receive my order which was on Saturday, March 4th, everything was wrapped up perfectly in bubble wrap. Almost all of the cookies were in perfect condition but that's only because the mail lady had the box flipped on the side. I couldn't wait until desert time, so I opened a pack of 3 cookies that come pre-wrapped, and left no crumbs, they're THAT delicious. After eating a normal meal, I cracked open the Peach Cobbler that came in two large mason jars. It's honestly the greatest thing ever. I ate about 1/4 of that mason jar in one sitting before stopping myself. Everything tasted super fresh If you're considering ordering, stop thinking about it and just do it, you won't regret it.
