I didn't want to start all over with the estimate process, so I told John I'd keep him in mind for next time. He followed up a few days later just to check on me--something no one else had done. After my initial dent repair company completely ghosted me (over 40 unreturned calls in two weeks!), I reached back out to John. He immediately stepped in to help and went above and beyond to save me from a scam. Not only did he try contacting the shady company on my behalf, but he also gave me excellent advice on how to handle the dishonest owner. To top it off, he even drove my mother to the company's lot when I was out of town, so we could recover my car. John completed the repairs in just four days, charged exactly what my insurance estimated, and delivered exceptional results. His honesty, professionalism, and genuine care are unmatched. When would you like to bring your car in for an estimate?" "I don't know. How long does it take to do an estimate?" "We can't say until the guys take the car apart." "It's just a small scratch on the corner of the rear bumper. I doubt there's any need to disassemble parts for an estimate. Is this the sort of thing that I should wait for? Or do I need to arrange a ride home?" "They'll call you after they've taken the car apart. When do you want to bring in the car?" "I think we have a misunderstanding. I'm not asking how long the REPAIRS will take. I'm wondering how long an ESTIMATE takes. 10 minutes? A day?" "The guys will call you after they've taken apart the car. Then you'll know. So when would you like to make your appointment?" "But I need to know whether I have to arrange for a ride or rent a car during the estimate." "After you leave your car, they'll call you." The conversation included a couple more rallies similar to those above. Ultimately, I didn't raise my voice, but I told the young woman that our conversation had been very unhelpful and that I would be going to a different body shop. She seemed surprised.
