They were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the process of getting a same-day appointment easy. I was scheduled with Uzma Haque, who I was told is a senior specialist. Based on that title, I felt confident she would know exactly what she was doing. I explained clearly that I wanted my greys blended with cool-toned grey highlights. I emphasized multiple times that I did not want blonde or yellow tones and was hoping for a more silver/white result. Uzma reassured me that this was her specialty and that she was very creative, which made me feel comfortable moving forward. During the consultation, she mentioned a $75 charge for a haircut, which I initially declined due to the high price. As the service went on, I checked in several times to confirm the highlights would not turn out yellow. I was repeatedly reassured they would be close to what I wanted. Unfortunately, the results were very disappointing. After the first toning, my hair was noticeably yellow. A second toning improved it slightly, but it still was not the cool grey tone I requested. I also noticed a harsh, visible line where the highlights began along my part, which looked unnatural and poorly blended. When I brought this up, along with my concern about the yellow tones, I felt my feedback was dismissed. I was told, "everyone else thinks it's white," which was frustrating as my opinion as the paying client should have been the priority. After spending about five hours in the salon, I decided to go ahead with the haircut. However, I was then told there wasn't enough time because my stylist needed to leave soon. After asking if someone else could do it, she ultimately stayed to complete it. In the end, what started as a very positive experience turned into a disappointing one. I left paying $368 for a result that looked worse than when I arrived. My hair appeared unevenly colored, with a stark line and noticeable yellow tones, and it felt damaged and brittle. I now have to seek additional services elsewhere to correct it. Based on my experience, I would not return or recommend this salon, especially given the high cost compared to the outcome.

She allots the proper amount of time for each client necessary to achieve their ideal look. Despite a very short consult time, she does deliver on what she promises. She is very attentive and has an innate ability to remember intimate details about every client. This is a very unique trait. Today I decided to go blonder than ever and I'm very pleased with my final look. Liz took the time to give me an excellent blow dry at the end of my cut and color. You truly walk out ready to attend an event. I have received many compliments on my hair since Liz has started doing it. Previous hairstylists have never made me walk away even the slightest bit content. A cut and color is expensive but you get a good amount of time with the stylist and walk away happy. I can't tell you how many times I've walked away wanting to cry after a hair cut or color. You can trust Liz with your hair and even let her run wild with an idea.... She does not disappoint. I wish the front desk staff were more pleasant however. You do not always get a welcome or pleasant goodbye unfortunately. Lastly, the salon offers a number of excellent hair products and Liz is very knowledgeable about which products would suit your hair and the styles that you adorn on a daily basis. She was super knowledgeable as to the type of products that my hair could handle, and even let me know that my current shampoo/conditioner was probably too heavy for me which is why my curls were a bit lackluster. After the dry cut we moved onto the wash and some final snipping finishes. I'll probably never be able to recreate the final look that she achieved after diffusing but I'll make it my personal mission to get as close to it as possible. Loved every moment of my appointment: wash, condition, steam, blow out, silk press. I badly needed a cut, but I only signed up for a trim, so she took off just an inch: I could have let go of two easily. But it's ok: I'll be back. My hair only began to revert a bit around the edges, even with low intensity exercise. I pushed it to two weeks before I gave in and washed it, but I only intended to keep the blow out a week. I couldn't help myself, it looked so good and was such a nice change. I will be back for some natural styling. This place is directly across the street from Blue Moon. This is a dangerous combination, because I love the Cap'n Crunch French Toast at Blue Moon. Parking in Fells is difficult, so I recommend just parking in the garage on Caroline Street, closer to the water. If you do it on the weekends (I was there on a Saturday) it will be very inexpensive. My experience was less than pleasing. I am not in the cosmetology business and maybe ignorant but what is it about salons booking a ton of heads when only two people are working? (One full stylist and one washer/blow dryer that day). My appointment was at 11. I wasn't in a seat until noon. I didn't leave until 5. I know that I had no idea what color I wanted. And even though Ora did try to help, I felt very much like an inconvenience to her. I was a new customer, who explained that I had only had permanent color done once. And she still seemed a little peeved at me not knowing what I wanted. She's the expert. Shouldn't she be able to help? And happily? When I complained that my head was tingling (reminiscent of the prelude to burning when I got my hair relaxed years and years ago) she made it seem like that was normal and that I needed to try to stay under longer to get the best color/effect. So I did. It took forever while she tended to the many other customers. But it very much felt like the dryer was her way of putting me and my services on the bench for a bit so she could do others. I will say that without a doubt my hair looked great once completely done. The color was amazing, the press was great. I didn't love the style but I figured I would just mess with it when I got home. I asked about waves like hers but she said it would be more money. To. Do. Some. Waves. With the same flatiron. So I just let it go. I paid 200 or so dollars which I know might not be a lot but for someone who never goes to salons and has been tending to her own natural/no-heat hair for years, it felt like so much for poor service. That was fine. It was what happened after that is the reason I am writing this review. I waited a few months to decide if I wanted to write this. But after multiple washes, pure aloe vera, masks, and deep conditioning treatments, I know my hair is ruined. More than five years of growing out and not putting heat on my hair -- all in the garbage. My curls are ruined. All I have to do is brush my hair and my natural, afro hair stays straight. Never, not since I used to relax my hair and started transitioning and saw my real texture, has my hair looked like this. I have cried. I have spent lots of money. And now to find some peace, I am writing this review. I genuinely DO NOT remember either Ora or her niece putting any type of heat protectant on my hair. I think at one point I even asked because I was worried. I warned her a billion times that my hair was NO HEAT NATURAL as of five years. No heat (save once). Or permanent die. Or relaxer. No precautions taken by Ora. And I know it's not just my hair because my own sister had tried to straighten my hair just once over that period of time and my curls came right back. The only thing I liked about myself -- thick hair on my head that I've learned to grow and protect -- is now gone. And I spent 200 dollars to ruin it. I will never be going back here. And unless you are not having service done on your real, natural hair (wig and weave), I would caution other newbie hair salon goers from going here too. Aside from the rudeness, tardiness, pricey-ness, etc, the most important thing is that my hair is ruined.
