Giving this place one star because of location and the facility itself could be great with proper management and an unbiased staff. But the staff and referee's here are biased and definitely show favoritism. The refs (are they even licensed?) and score keepers work together and make calls in favors of the home team or teams they have friends on. So, if you aren't one of them you're shit out of luck. This league charges premium prices for mediocre service. The owner definitely needs to clean house and revamp the staff if they want it to be successful because location is the only thing going for them at this moment. Great system but some referees are awful. Our last game the referee just stood in the middle of the field by the wall... Refused to respond to questions and just not doing his job. It will be great if you hire referees that actually run the field and get the job done right. read more

Man oh man, where to start. I've been coming to this place since I was young, maybe 6 or 7 years old. Like any other place, it's not perfect but it's playable. I've returned for various periods of play here, a season here and a season there, and although I would give the actual field itself 5 stars, unfortunately it has just been mismanaged. My buddies and I signed up for a league and were given games outside the schedule, with no refund or reschedule option. So, we say we can only make certain times, they agree, and then they double cross us. First issue. Second issue is that they basically get minimum wage referees from wherever they can find, which means the absolute worst out there. They have a 2-bit operation of 1099'ing the refs so that they don't actually have to hire them, they give you part of your upfront season fee before every game to go pay the ref. Smart business move but cutting a huge corner for refereeing, which just does not work out well for top competitive levels. Third issue is that they have an actual video camera of all play, to which you can refer to if you have issue, such as when my teammate was damn near injured by an angry employee who decided to play for the other team, they just shrug it off every time. They are not accountable by any means, at any level - that includes management. I had a 16 year old working my game who could not stay off his phone and missed multiple fouls because of it. His response? "My bad". What they don't understand is some of us come out to play, exercise, and practice at a high level - and they just could care less so long as you come for the next game. I won't be recommending any of my teams to come here in the future, I don't care how close it is compared to other players. It's not worth dealing with these people. Now, if you're looking for a place to go play co-Ed or take your kids, this is the spot. Just don't be surprised if an adult referee verbally engages with your child because that happens pretty much every game. All in all, 5 star field, 1 star management, and I'm rounding down to 2 from 2.5. We'd all like to see a change in how this place operates. read more

I started playing here about 3 years ago. SWIS is a great place to play and and is also good for those new to the game. I play here along with my kids, so we are there at least weekly. The refs are fair and have gotten better over the years, but as a player, refs are refs and some calls will go your way and some won't. At the end of the day, I've thought most of the calls were fair. When I started playing here the management was in transition and you could see areas for improvement. The current management (for the last 2 years) is fantastic and they work with the players and their families. They have improved the facility and the turf has always been in good condition. Overall they run a solid facility and care about people, which is huge. They make an effort to know everyone's name. From a youth development standpoint they are great with kids and work to train and develop them. The youth leagues are a great way to keep your kids in shape between the seasons. My kids have played for 6 seasons and always want to come back to train with the staff and play in the leagues. Overall it is a very welcoming environment, the staff are great, and the majority of the people who play are fantastic (as usual their are a few outliers). I have made some great friends here and have been treated like family. You don't find that in many places. read more

I started playing at Southwest Indoor about 3 years ago. Before that, I hadn't played soccer since 4th grade and because of the staff at SWIS, I enjoy playing soccer here whenever I can. I have a couple of teams here now and we enjoy playing here a lot. The staff is great, they have wonderful management and they've done a lot of improvements to the place since I've been here. Staff is always welcoming and I haven't had an issue here. Our teams will be at SWIS for a long time because of the staff. Highly recommend, one of the best places to come and play! Jenny, Jose, Amber, Hamza, and Jorge just to name a few, make SWIS a great environment for everyone to enjoy. I am very pleased with the staff because they will do what they can to help you out. Played a few years here now and I go to lots of Soccer fields all over Houston. Here the turf stays in great condition. Plenty of room for spectators and vending machines. Most other places I've been have turf that is either multiple heights or has rises and lows or the joints are split. Not interesting in hurting myself. Southwest Indoor and northwest indoor are by far my fav two places to play. Lots of people gripe about refs but everyone always hates refs no matter where they play. Place is always fairly clean and the bathrooms stay pretty clean and always work. read more

Don't waste your time! The worst refs in Houston area except one or two out of who knows how many. And so the refereeing there is pretty awful and always very one sided. They will call fouls for one team then not call the exact same foul on another!! If they don't like your team (or they're just horrible I'm not hundred percent sure) they will make all calls against your team. Even worse if one of their staff members is playing! Good luck with that if they don't like the both teams! They can even threaten you instead of cooling down to forfeit the game so they can go home early! read more

I have been playing at SWIS for five years now with the same team. In recent months, SWIS has undergone a management change. They fired the manager (Bogdan) who was probably the best thing that ever happened to that place. The changes that happened were as follows: 1) SWIS used to work with me and knew the type of schedule that my team required. This season, they did not bother and gave me the WORST schedule ever. All late games (9:30 and later...but mostly later) and weekend games (old staff has NEVER given me a schedule this bad. They were always attentive of my team's needs did their best to accommodate them). 2) Because so many teams have left SWIS because of all of these changes, the had to put us in a bracket with 3 teams total (including my own). That is...for the whole season, there are a total of 2 opposing teams. This goes the same for ALL of the other coed brackets. 3) They refused to give me my players card because I did not have my ID. I have been playing there for YEARS. The one day I forgot my ID at home, and they would not give me my players card. 4) They now require $15 ref fees IN CASH at the beginning of EVERY game (cannot pay in full at the beginning of the season...the staff gets very confused if you try to do this) Bogdan used to let me pay at the beginning of the season and not have to worry about it at the beginning of every game. 5) The new personnel are not the most polite. The people at the front desk used to greet me with a smile and by my first name and would inform me of of any changes that might be happening with my schedule. NOT the case anymore. SWIS used to be such a great facility with a wonderful staff. Unfortunately I will not be playing with them any longer. read more

I used to play here once a week a few years ago, but then I blew out my right knee. It's a good facility - way the hell out there, but at the time it was the closest place to play indoor soccer if you lived inside the loop. It's a division of a nationwide group called Let's Play Sports. The management was very good about matching teams of approximately the same skill into the same leagues, and skill levels vary widely. They offer both co-ed and same-sex leagues; men are limited to two touches in co-ed games. Games were two 22-minute halves, with a short halftime, and about five minutes of warm-up time prior to matches. Most people my age will need to stretch on the sideline during the game immediately preceding. And if 45 minutes of intense sprints isn't enough for you, just stick around for the next game; half the teams are always looking for a few extra bodies and pick up players from other teams. The field itself was nothing to write home about when I was playing. It was a hard, fast surface with a thin layer of fairly worn down astroturf, with minimal padding underneath. It was, however, very even and stable, unlike the current surface at Kicks Indoor. The rest of the facility is clean and well-lit, and they had a small concession stand. The best part is that the team/player fees were pretty reasonable; definitely less than Kicks. But I suppose if you factor in gasoline for those who live in the loop, you might be looking at about the same cost. The worst part was that the schedule often ran behind, and if you had the late game, you might not start until midnight or later. Overall, it was a nice place to play - you knew you'd never be rained out. If I still played indoor (my knees have vetoed the possibility), I'd probably be playing here instead of Kicks - I prefer the hard flat surface at SWIS to the somewhat uneven but soft surface at Kicks. read more

Come here if you like to waste money and time. Two main complaints against this business. 1. They allow their employees to play against everyone else which as you can imagine creates a significant conflict of interest. How can you allow an employee to run the scoreboard and clock (which more often than not are not working) and also play? They are keeping score for a team that he or she will play in 40 minutes? Of course there is a chance they wont properly keep score or will continue to run the clock to provide a disadvantage to another team. The staff wants to appear as the highest scoring female in the league? "Forget" to record other player's goals. Not a good way to run a business. You staff is probably paying less than REAL customers. Not a good idea financially. It's also really awkward when your employees date, play together, break up, and then throw tantrums after they play with each other again. It makes for a really weird atmosphere. They may even be tempted to take it out MORE on other teams because they cant control themselves. Also, if your staff WORKS with your refs...there's obviously bias. Yeah, that makes for fair play. 2. But if you want to make some money, come here to be a ref. Qualifications dont matter and these refs barely move to see plays. They get paid $30 a game ($15 from each team). As mentioned, there's some MAJOR bias in their calls. But again, if you want a job, it's pretty lucrative. I would give them zero stars if possible. Never coming back. This place used to be super popular. Filled up every night with leagues and rent outs. But when your last game on a saturday is at 7:30...it's obvious something is wrong. And it's not like the location has changed so maybe take a look at your employees. read more

If you're beginner don't go here, if you've been playing for a long time don't go here. First of all the place is poorly ventilated, it stinks. Sure it's an indoor field but I've been to plenty of indoor fields that smell fresh and clean and that I can actually breath. Second the divisions are crap, they don't regulate. You'll have a starting team up against a college team and the only reason why these teams win are because they take advantage of the lower level teams. If they moved up to the right division they'd probably get slaughtered. They'll be about 6 to 8 guys that obviously have talent just waiting to play with the lower level teams, they'll just choose a side that doesn't have a complete team and beat teams that want to get better but can't because they don't get to play with teams that are in the same level. The staff are great but the rules are shitty. read more

This place used to be in good management,clean and neat place including the restroom was also neat and clean with all the paper towel and napkin was available. And including their penny's was smelling good and fresh. Until the new management took over this place is looking like a trash.most of their penny's is not clean and stinks when u wears them and the restroom always doesn't have any paper towel and napkins. Poor management! My team has been playing here for years and we have dealt with the new managers from James and roger to Rex each had their struggles, but at the end of the day they had over 150 teams and complete schedules. Since Stacey has been in charge we are always scheduled for 10pm or later games on weekdays and show up with our fingers crossed hoping their is another team to play against. When opposing teams don't show up we are fed with lies, supposedly she calls them the same day to confirm, but we are also friends with the other teams and they tell us that they have withdrawn from the place for a while. read more

Ever since Daniel was let go, this place keeps getting worse and worse. The new manager thinks she knows it all but she can't even get scheduling requests right. Their new policy is to play as many games as possible in the shortest time possible so teams are forced to play twice a week and at times they did not want to play. They are loosing yet more teams. Refs are bad. The indian referees dont work there as much anymore and they were the only two good refs. read more

Very bad management. My wife and I joined a coed team. We played one game and we never get informed about the remaining games of the season. We payed $150 for both of us and when we call to get our money back the manager was never available. Also the Referees and scorekeepers never paying attention to the game. read more

Very poorly managed business. Terrible customer service (they hardly ever respond to your phone calls). Many refs who don't ref properly. The fans close to the team benches don't even work...the list goes on and on. I've got plenty of stories about this place. Used to be really pretty solid. HIDE YOUR KIDS HIDE YOUR WIFE! I have to disagree with a fellow reviewer, as the villain of this tale is indeed Bogdan (the fired manager). Normally I would not name names or shame someone who is mixing sports to create a new style, but, I make an exception. I was watching a game here tonight. Two players got into a bit of an argument but then one turned to walk away and the other one followed him, spit on him, then did a flying karate kick to his head. The ref said that both players had to leave the building, understandable. However, the karate kid did not leave the building. In fact, he stood around telling the brave tale of the old man who kicked someone in the head when they had their back turned. The ref, as well as the kids at the front desk all found his story hilarious. I told them that it wasn't funny. They were ridiculously rude to me and the ref told me that I can't be angry about everything. I'm actually rarely angry but I get pretty fired up when someone tries to mix martial arts with soccer, especially in such a shady way. I also don't appreciate getting sneered at for not appreciating that kind of nonsense. This posse of cool kids said they didn't want my business, and I couldn't agree more, I don't belong at a place where the goalie hides num chucks in their belt. I will bring all my business to KICKS....(or that new place Papparuchos, or in my apartment)!!!!! Because at least they are all about the soccer and less about physical assault.
