Great shop, probably the best stocked shop in the area for BMX, freestyle/street/cruiser bikes and parts. The do custom wheel builds and have plenty of options. I bought a customized bike second hand, but had lots of German Eclat parts which a lot of shops don't carry, they had an array of options. Some really great complete bikes at the shop. Pro level set ups. The staff was super informative on parks all over Chicagoland and there's a ton of types to have fun in. They post videos on IG putting the products to good use. I brought in my Giant TCR Composite 1 - road bike for a tire repair which has been down for over a month. My next door neighbor recommended Let's Roast Cycles which is actually closer than the previous bike shop I went to for repair known as Bike 4 Life, a bike shop in Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. When it involves maintenance on my road bike I am very hesitant on taking it just anywhere in the city. After calling them to find out if they fixed road bike tires this bike shop became an instant add on my list as a go-to. I pulled into their small parking lot which appears to hold only a few vehicles. For the most part visitors pulled in front of the shop which is an option as well along W. Grand Ave. Do not be fooled by what you see outside of the shop as well as the BMX bikes on display inside of the shop. The employees are bike enthusiasts and are very knowledgeable about bikes. I get excited being inside of a bike shop and cannot help looking around at the bikes as well as the parts in-stock. I fell in love with two bikes by Fyxation, a midnight blue, and a black version. In time I will keep my eyes peeled for them to see if the prices drop on either. While looking around I felt in good hands after taking notice of their gigantic trophy for being 2020 CABDA Midwest Retailer of the year. During my experience with this bike shop, Tabbie, the employee who assisted me, treated me with the utmost respect. She was very informative about my replacement tire, the continental gatorskin tire that she put on my bike. Most likely when I do return for a front tire I will replace it with a continental gatorskin as well. She fixed me up no more than 10 minutes! I was out actually quicker than it took me to load my bike on my vehicle, hehe. I had a pleasant experience at Let's Roast Cycles. And I surely let it be known that I would be returning for a tune-up on my road bike as I interacted with Tabbie. Let me start by saying IAN at let's roast cycles is a stellar dude and his knowledge and willingness to help is a breath of fresh air. You walk into a bike shop now a days and there's is a 50/50 chance you will be dealing with a person who doesn't even want to help or deal with you or your bike. At let's roast cycles it is ran by passionate individuals who are here to keep this city riding . I paid 4$ for a crank bolt at another shop prior to stopping by, and not that I mind paying 4$ for a bolt stuff costs money I get it. But let's roast just put the bolt on out of the kindness and willingness to help. I spent my money on other great items in store, and I will be back pay day to purchase parts from them solely for the atmosphere COMPETITIVE & BETTER PRICING than danscomp or other online retailers on parts they could easily be making 10% up sale on. If that isn't for the people idk what is. L. B. B stands for life behind bars ' not prison bars . Handle bars. I live by this motto and riding BMX has kept me out of trouble and given me an outlet since I was 11 years old .Shout out to you guys doing the same for others with a helping hand. Being a city native I know personally there is a BUNCH of bike shops but not many at all who cater to BMX riders. Great service! I got a flat nearby & just stopped in asking if they could repair it, near the end of the day. To my surprise they did and got me on my way home in a short time. Very friendly conscientious staff, helped me understand what my have caused the flat and recommended options regarding tubes and tires - my tire was pretty old and needed replacement and they found an efficient solution. While I was there I saw a saddle I liked and had them install it on the spot, because I was so glad to not have to take the bus home! Extra points for the good playlist in the store while I waited. read more

Let me start this by saying this is a great bike shop. I like it a lot and as an avid cyclist I'm not a fan of some shops that give you the "Simpsons Comic Book Guy" treatment where they treat you like you shouldn't be in the their shop if you don''t know as much as them. That being said today was a day I kind of got that treatment. I went in to get some air in the tire. When I walked there were two gentlemen chatting and I did recognize one of the workers who was there but was not greeted. I chalked it up as he was really engaged in his conversation which is fine but in the past he has greeted me with a warm "Hello" or "What's up man?!" So there was another gentleman that came from the repair area and I as I walk up to say hello he just says "Flat" I guess he knew I needed air or he just spotted the tired but most of the time the guys do investigate and ask "What's going today?" or "How can I help?" There was none of that today. Maybe he was in a bad mood or was having a bad day because he asked "When did you get air last?" I told him there in the shop about a few months ago. His reply was "Why don't you just buy an air pump?" And it was it wasn't the answer so much as the tone. It felt like I was bothering him. When he was done I asked him do I have a flat. He answered "I dunno!" Again with a annoyed tone. I actually have bought and air pump but it didn't work. I literally brought it to the shop for help and it didn't work there. I don't know if he was there or remembers or cares. Maybe he wanted me to spend some money but there is a sign outside that says bike shop and a sign inside that says free air so yea. Just to be clear I have spent money there. My wife and I literally got our bikes built there and I've come back for many things from new tires to lights to new seats so spending there isn't a problem. I'll come back because generally everyone there is usually pretty chill and it remains my favorite shop in the city but today I just got an unwelcoming vibe. I am very satisfied with my purchase and the bike is sick. I was not pressured to buy above reasonable prices, plus they honored my Veteran status and afforded me a discount. This is the best beard, I mean bike, shop ever. I was howling down Milwaukee, headed for Asado Coffee Pickwick Lane at 22 E Jackson, a place I had never been, but entirely willing to meet. The light turned green and I roared across the intersection. Only, halfway across, Bike's chain encountered some trauma and by the way my frantic pedaling proved fruitless, I instantly concluded I would need to stop and put it back on. At the curb I swiftly upended Bike and reached for the misbehaving chain. But there was no chain. I was confident Bike was supposed to have a chain. So I was surprised. My gaze redirected to the way from which I had just come, and there it sprawled forlorn and tragic. It became clear to me: my life would never be the same again. Thinking "Coffee, Coffee, 22 E Jackson," as I headed for the Loop, a portion of my brain had nevertheless recorded seeing a bike shop not So far back on the right side. Yep. These people fixed up Bike with a new chain, and even let me scrub the black oil off my hands with their- oh, you know that stuff men keep in their shops for scrubbing oil off, with the sandy stuff in it? So in about 10 minutes I was again headed for 22 E Jackson. You will not believe this probably, but when I came back through Chicago a few days later, I was howling down Milwaukee, headed for Wormhole Coffee, and there was road destruction right in the bike lane. A five inch straight up elevation in the pavement. Like a square missing in a pan of brownies. It was dark and I was looking around me, but it would have been unavoidable anyway, and phzzt goodbye back tire. The next morning Let's Roast Cycles cheerfully fixed everything in less than 15 minutes and they did not make me feel dumb for not knowing about bikes. They were happy to help, and respectful to my old Bike who has been with me these seven years. I give them six stars. read more

I got my bike and had them remove all the green colored pieces and swap out for black and upgrade the pedals. I picked it and it was perfect!!! Everything I wanted and more was done. Since then I've stopped back in to get lights, a lock, and replace a blown tire. I love this place from start to finish. I'm a customer for life!! Stop by and check out all they have to offer. You guys. After a range of so-so-to-good relationships with bike shops over the years, I've accepted that I have oddly specific requirements for what makes up a good shop. That being said, here is why this is a fantastic one: - Super smart mechanics (Like, they're real good, man) - Cool bikes/Rad clothes - A tiny white dog! - A big black cat! - Dudes with long hair - Chill vibes, brah This shop has all of that. After messing with a really old derailleur of mine, they got it working better than I was able to from hours of adjusting it. Still, since it wasn't up to what they considered a gold standard, they gave me a killer 'scount (First: that's cool slang for discount. Second: don't get greedy and go looking for handouts. that's rude). Finally, on top of alllll that, they do a Tuesday night BMX ride, which is great for me--a guy who looks like a total doofus on a BMX and needs to meet cool/young people who can make me look less like a doofus/teach me dope tricks. Anyway! In summary, this place is the business, but please don't shop there because I hate when my favorite places get busy. read more

This is the first time I've written a review for a business before actually becoming a customer. I feel compelled, though, to compliment Let's Roast Cycles on their strong customer service, and explain why I hope to make this my primary bike shop in Chicago even though it focuses mostly on BMX bikes. I will follow-up on this review after I've purchased their tune-up for my Trek mountain and tested it out. I've been biking by Let's Roast everyday on my way to and from work in the Loop but never stopped in. Finally checked it out the other week when I was having trouble clipping my brake cable back into the bike. I felt stupid for needing help but the co-owner, Bob, was very gracious and fixed the bike. Bob and I had a nice conversation about biking in Chicago and about their tune-up packages. Their packages are very reasonably priced--actually the best non-Groupon deal on a tune-up I've seen in the neighborhood. They also run Thursday evening social rides which sound like a fantastic way to meet new people and de-stress from work. I hope to join one of these rides soon. So in conclusion I was very impressed with Let's Roast Cycles during my "pop-in" and I'm excited to become a customer soon! read more

I've had some really bad experiences with bike shops here in Chicago. Let's Roast provided the best service I've ever received. It's a small local shop with friendly staff who were approachable. You can tell their passion is bikes. But man, their tune up is the best I've ever had on my bike. They go to the nines to bring your bike back to life. I bought my Bianchi Pista five years ago and I ran it into the ground last year. It rides like I just bought the bike yesterday. All for $60, which is the least expensive tune up I've ever paid for. What I was REALLY pleased with is that they realized my brakes were unrepairable. Instead of installing them and charging me for the brakes without my permission, they called me up to ask if they can install new brakes. That is honest service any customer would appreciate. Will be a returning customer to Let's Roast and will highly recommend this place. read more

They did an awesome job and the customer service was great. It's great to see that they were excited about the build and didn't just act like it was just a job for them. Best shop on the West Side. These guys are the real deal. They are more interested in treating you as a person than a customer, there have been several times I have gone in with something loose or a weird sound and they have checked it out for free, even on my insisting on payment! When my crank shaft got warped they ordered the parts that I needed and were able to take care of me in just 30 minutes. Fantastic service and guys who really want to teach you about bikes. They are guys who were used to getting snubbed at other shops because of being more BMX focused. It doesn't matter if you aren't a "serious biker." If you want to take care of your bike and learn a few tips to do that I can't recommend this shop enough. read more

Great spot for bike maintenance. Ian was friendly, honest and no-nonsense. He cut my handlebars shorter at a great price, and replaced the freewheel on my "economy bike" (my term), as the factory part had been clicking. Plus, he threw in handlebar grips. Was laughed at by an employee and customer bro and told aggressively that this is "a real bmx shop" and any handles they would ever get would be worn down proper. Was offered new bars and declined. I created this account for the sole purpose of reviewing these guys at Let's Roast Cycles. I'm not a Yelper. I don't even know any of these guys by name. I've lived in the neighborhood for 7 years now. I've tried a bunch of other bike shops. Some are pretentious and make me want to buy an SUV. Some are friendly, but pricey. Some are here today and gone tomorrow. Over the last few months I have gone into Let's Roast for a few small items and/or issues I've had with my bike. I have NEVER had such a helpful and friendly staff treat me so well! They don't talk down to me based on my appearance (think of them as the opposite of the Portlandia biker guy "This is OVER!!!"- If you don't know this one, Google is your friend) and they're immediately engaging. They actually want your business! If for nothing else, if you are on the fence about where to go, take this stranger's advice and try them out (If you Googled the Portlandia biker then you already know you can trust me!). You won't be disappointed. The five stars are absolutely accurate and they are indeed as good as it gets! read more

I've been in a few times, once just to check it out and one to get my road bike repaired, and both experiences were great. It's a great, laid back space, and the guys who work there are easy going and knowledgable. I took my bike in expecting a $70 tune-up and when I went to pick it up they ended up charging me $40 (the lower end tune-up) since they didn't need to do a lot of work to get it into good shape. They are a great addition to the neighborhood and I am looking forward to checking out some of their social rides. read more
