OKAY. This place is freaking AWESOME. We were iffy on the cover, especially because we couldn't walk to make sure they had consoles we wanted to use, but we went for it anyway. And it was the highlight of our whole weekend. We were able to pay the new switch which was fantastic (and also showed us we do not want to buy one yet haha!). Tons of pinball, some classic games in the back, and honestly, hours worth of fun. You can rent any console you could want. The $10 cover was all games for free so it was perfect. They had a bunch of really fantastic beers, I tried a couple and am still thinking about a caramel apple one I tried here. So great. The conversation with the bartender was awesome, we learned a lot about the area, history, and what has happened in the last year. Such a great experience. Highly, highly recommend to anyone. I had been planning a trip to Asheville and wanted something other than an outdoor activity to finish the day. What a great experience we had at the Level 256 Arcade. We were staying about a half mile away and walked down to the arcade. This was the correct choice. We were greeted at the door by a young lady and she explained the cover charge for free play was. We purchased a few drinks and began pmaying some video arcade games and pinball. All of the games were working along with the pinball. BEST BAR DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE! I had a blast here! The bar has both beer as well as cocktails. The bartender let me sample some beer before I made my choice. All of the pinball machines have cup holders on them to hold your drink. No games were out of order while I was here. The selection was pretty big, though not as big as the other arcade bar in town. The location was what makes this so great, since you can go in and out all day you can take breaks to eat or drink elsewhere downtown then return here. I'll definitely be back, I spent about 2-3 hours here playing all of the games. Only $10 admission for all day! Can't beat that. read more

This place is awesome. It felt like the arcades I went to growing up in the 80s/early 90s. Over a dozen different pinball machines, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Pac Mans, and the ones that really brought back some memories for me, NBA Jam and Ghosts and Goblins.. We came at night not knowing kids are not allowed after 4pm. We came back the next day and our boys and selves had a great time playing pinball and ol skool games. They have a bar which makes it even better! While sitting at the bar you may ask to play with the consoles available. We loved that they had NES! My four kids and I had the BEST time here! I mean, isn't it every kid's dream to have unlimited quarters at the arcade?!? It's rare to find affordable activities in town for our large family, so Level 256 was a much-appreciated experience. The arcade is super clean and well-maintained. There are about 10 pinball games (Indiana Jones was my favorite) and tons of classic arcade games as well as consoles (original NES with cartridges, Sega, Atari, Switch, etc.). Each game has a sign on it with some game and manufacturer history -- I loved that! A nice beer selection plus local ginger beer and some craft hard seltzer. Almost every console has a drink holder on it, too. The only snacks are local popcorn and potato chips, so be sure to eat beforehand. This is owned by a wife and husband team. Go support local! A great spot and such a fun concept! This location in particular is pretty small if you have a lot of people but has a great selection. For $10 you can play all you want on pinball, old school games, and newer games on switch/PS5. The people working here are very knowledgable on all the games which is very nice because often times I had no idea how to use some of the controllers or some of the functions of the games. The beer/drink selection was pretty solid and not too overpriced either. read more

I told my hubs that I was so bummed we don't have an arcade like this in cincy. Don't get me wrong, we have a beercade HOWEVER they don't offer free pinball. Here's the thing: there's no fee to get in to any beercades in cincy and all games excluding pinball are free. At this place, it's $10 a person and EVERTHING INCLUDING PINBALL IS FREE. If they ever decided to franchise, they should come here first, they'd put everyone else out of business I swear! read more

Was in town for a day and wanted to go back to the pinball museum I had been to last time I was there. It was closed and I found this place and I'm almost glad that it was because this place is awesome! It's a $10 cover, which gives you access to all 8 or 9 pinball games, like Halloween, Godzilla, Led Zeppelin, and 20 or so of the classic arcade games like NBA Jam, Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Ms PacMan, Donkey Kong, SMB2, and consoles that you can just pick up the controller and start playing. It's a really cool atmosphere here. The people that were there seemed like regulars and weren't hogging the more popular machines, which is always a problem at places like this. I tried a couple local brews and talked with bartender about a specific older pinball game (Lethal Weapon 2 with soundtrack by ZZ Top and C+C Music Factory!!!) Really cool, laidback place with a great selection of games. All in great shape. My only thing is that they're only open till 9, which seems early to close at but maybe I just wanted to stay till late night playing the Godzilla table. Love this place! $7 for a wrist-band gets you unlimited games all day; and yes, you can leave and come back later. They have many cool pinball machines and games from the 80's including Centipede, Frogger, BurgerTime, Galaga, Space Invaders, Pac-Man and several versions of Ms. Pac-Man including the super fast version (only for the most skilled Pac players). I wore out my rotator cuff playing that game. Oh, and they have plenty of tasty craft brews on tap to sip upon as you play. The owner, Adam, and all the staff are very cool and friendly. We were walking around tonight and just happened to stumble onto this place. For just $7, you can play all of the video games you want! They have the classics like frogger, centipede, Pac-Man, Galaga and more! They also have an impressive collection of pinball machines as well as many consoles with various games to choose from. There is a bar, but we also noticed a few families with children mixed in with the wide age range of guests. We had so much fun at this spot on Saturday night. Weren't looking for it but just came across it walking through town. Impressive tap list and got to try lots of local beers. Seemed a steal; we paid $7 to get in for unlimited games and I would have paid more. Me and some buddies got to relive our glory dames of gaming while drinking like adults. Duck Hunt, Golden Eye, and pinball were our go-to games but they had every system old and new as well as arcade and pin ball machines. You could scan a QR code to see the list of games for each system. All of that would have been enough but the guys behind the bar (who were also awesome) suggested the 4 of us play Heave Ho. So 4 grown adults bellied up to the bar with some drinks and played this goofy game on a big screen TV. It was so much fun that I had tears of laughter rolling down my face at one point. We could have stayed for hours but had to leave when they closed at 10. Wasn't crowded and was one of the best parts of our trip. read more

Fantastic spot. Very clean. The owners are doing a great job with all the government mandated COVID restrictions. We felt safe and still able to have lots of fun. Nice to see something less alcohol oriented on Asheville's South Slope too. That said, they appear to have a super well curated beer list!
