Fun and funky brewery and eatery. There is inside and outside eating available. The selection of beers is very good and rotates. Food is above average for a brewpub.

I wasn't sure that I would really like anything here as I'm not a beer drinker, and the other cocktails on the menu didn't seem my style/i didn't want to order a whole bottle of wine. The bartender (dude in the picture, sorry man i didn't catch your name) asked me what i liked, i told him espresso martinis, and he was like heck yea i can do that! Which surprised me since it's a brewery kind of spot. But lo and behold! He made me one that was on point! Was a pleasant surprise :) Aside from that, i loooooved looking at all the plants decorating the place. Such a cool vibe

Great selection of beers, wine, and spirits. Cool decor, not like the warehouse style minimalist breweries. Server was very attentive. Gave me quite a few samples of the beers - and it further proved that I don't like beer :). I was happy with the cocktail selection instead.

What a great experience! We came here on a night out with friends, and everyone was exclaiming about how good the food was! As a vegetarian, I was so happy that I had multiple options. My husband and I shared an appetizer of the fried burrata and two entrees - the cheese pizza and the not-meatball sub. The fried burrata was creative and tasty. It has pesto below the burrata, which add a freshness to the fried cheese. The cheese pizza was delicious too. We thought it was a personal size, but we realized next time we can probably just order one pizza to share without an added entree! However, the not-meatball sub with the lemon ricotta was still a showstopper, and I would gladly order either the pizza or the "meatball" sub next time I come! I was curious about the falafel being the "meatball" but it worked, and the lemon ricotta is definitely worth it as an add-on! Our friends also enjoyed their food and kept saying how big their sandwiches were! The food came out super fast and the service was nice and friendly. The ambiance was fun and on a holiday weekend, it was full, but luckily no need to wait for a table. We will be coming back for sure!

Great beer, amazing service! The staff are ready to help you out with a smile. Plenty of outdoor space for your whole group, plus a cool looking event space! We started with the focaccia, wood fired turnips and a couple drinks. The dunkle is soooo deliciously malty and smooth. The turnips came out to the table cold. Not even a faint hint of warmth, but the staff quickly swapped us out for some of the chicken lettuce wraps. Those wraps are so fresh and light, perfect swap and handled well by the staff. Highly recommend this place:)

Hands down our favorite brewery from the entire trip and honestly maybe one of our favorite beers ever. The food was insanely good, the atmosphere was so fun and laid back, and we loved the live music outside. Such a cool local spot with great vibes all around! Great service from the staff too!

Went with a large group while in Asheville. Service was great as they were attentive. I got a spicy margarita that was . I was underwhelmed with the pizza but did enjoy the buffalo chicken flatbread.

Thank you helpers for pointing out this place. We had a vegetarian with us and he's always difficult to accommodate. The drinks didn't start out so good- the coke was flat and the spicy margarita was bitter and didn't taste like there was any tequila. Things picked up from there. The root beer is delicious as was the fried burrata, succotash and hot honey pepperoni pizza. The fried cabbage salad got mixed reviews. The meatless meatball sandwich got an ok review

The best brewery for sours bar none, hands down, end of story. Love the smoked and barrel aged brews, and the coffee vanilla sour is a sweet treat.

So glad I was able to check out this place and so glad they reopened. I love the space, both the indoor and outdoor space. So much outdoor space! If you like sours, definitely a spot to check out. They have flights that are customized or you can build your own. Didn't try the food but they have some good stuff on their menu.

I love, love, love the Funkatorium! Sours are some of my favorite beers and they have so many to choose from. Their outdoor patio space is huge and pet friendly. They also have tasty snacks, although we didn't get any during this trip to Asheville. My husband and I ordered 2 flights to share- the Angel and Barrel-Aged. My sister ordered a cocktail and my brother in law ordered a flight as well. We came here on a Friday night and it was a lively, thriving kind of packed. Kids were playing and having fun, lots of other dogs hanging out, and there was what appeared to be a wedding party there for a reception dinner or maybe drinks after a reception dinner. It's such a fun place to have a little date night, bring the family for dinner, or stop in before traveling on to another nearby brewery.

    Lara T.

Cool brewery in Asheville, run by Wicked Weed. They specialize in Sours, which is not my usual preferred beer style but I've heard so many great things about this place that I had to try it out. They do have other types of beers as well. It has a huge bar and tasting room as well as a large outdoor beer garden. Decorated beautifully. I tried a Sour flight which I actually enjoyed. Lots of fresh fruit flavors. Service at the bar was great as well, the beertender gave great recommendations. They also offer food but we had already eaten. Open Sunday to Thursday 11:00am - 11:00pm and Friday and Saturday 11:00am - 12:00am.

    Robyn W.

If you like Sours then this is your place! The selection is massive and they have flights so you can try multiple types. They also let you sample anything you like before making a full-glass decision. They do have wine and cocktails if sours aren't your thing! I've been here every visit to Asheville I make. I was a bit disappointed this last round as they changed their menu a bit and our favorites the trout dip, pretzels, and pickles were no longer a thing. The current menu just didn't look that appealing, but we opted to share some Poutine and I can't say I'd order it again :/ Please bring back the others!! The building is really cool to check out as well - from the indoor area, the outdoor dog-friendly space, to the back room. It's a really beautiful building and well-designed. No need for fancy pants here either - great for a stop after hiking or playing outside.

Right away the place had a cool vibe, not just a regular brewery where you go in and drink a beer. It had a lot of interesting decor and you could tell they really lean into their own weird, artsy style. The decor was colorful and fun, with murals and random quirky details all around. It kind of had this dark but playful look to it, which somehow worked really good. The beer garden area also gave it a laid back feel, and the whole place had way more character then a normal taproom. The beer menu was creative too. There were plenty of beer choices and I got the Sinister Gaze of the Unapologetic Imperial Stout. With a cool name like that it fit my mood from the heat. With cocoa nibs, sea salt, vanilla bean, and that rich stout flavor, it sounded bold and kind of dramatic, which fits the place perfect.

The space is also very nicely done. Plenty of room at the bar. A somewhat dark and muted color tone that created the feel of a slightly rustic and understated space. I liked it. In terms of food, I ordered a mediterranean bowl and was pretty happy with it. Reasonably well presented. Some evidence of investing effort in creating an individualized concept. The ingredients were also very fresh. The toppings also fell within a reasonable balance. It wasn't overwhelming. It wasn't the best salad of this type that I've had, but it made for something crisp and fresh to pair with a pint. All that having been said, my suggestion would be to go for the beer. If you want to order food alongside your beer, that's secondary.

Almost every beer on the menu is a split batch fermented with two different yeast strains to showcase the resulting differences. It's a great concept, even if you're not into brewing. I had a house salad and some dilly beans for lunch. The house salad was fresh and extremely well balanced. I'm glad they had something vegetable centric available. The dilly beans were good, but quite a bit for a single human. They're probably the type of thing you would want to split among friends. I actually showed up for an event in the evening where they served pizza using dough fermented with one of their yeast strains. That was truly excellent.
