The location: This restaurant/lounge is located on the second floor - per its namesake. ;) I made the mistake of trying to enter on St Clair St, but you should enter on Erie under the Hyatt Centric sign. When you enter the lobby on Erie street, you take the elevator to the second floor and turn left. You will see some seating areas and a bar. The tables have a QR code so you can view the menu. The staff: The staff members I interacted with seemed happy and focused on doing their job well. The food: Crispy Baby Furikake Calamari with Plum Sauce: I enjoyed this dish. I love calamari and plum sauce which adds a sweet and tangy flavor to the salty calamari. Pizza I had a slice of the cheese pizza which was good. The cheese on it was flavorful, and the crust was not too thick or too thin. Was it my favorite pizza ever? No- but my favorite is traditional style from Naples. For a chicago pizza, I would eat this again. The other two options were veggie or pork, sausage, bacon and pepperoni. Short rib quesadilla with sides of salsa, crema, cilantro, and lime This was my favorite! The short rib was flavorful but then adding the toppings made this absolutely delicious. I would come back just for this. Dessert: Puff pastry with chocolate, caramel filled chocolate, cheesecake on shortbread, and fresh berries. This was good. I wish I had tasted the mousse on shortbread as well, because I love mousse, but the cheesecake was fine. As everywhere was closed already on Christmas dinner time, we decided to just dine in the hotel restaurant. We were asked to wait a little before getting seated and it took more wait time before our orders were taken. The food arrived not long after. I got the bolognese (pasta; i don't remember what it's called exactly) while my husband got the Mediterranean chicken meal (not sure again what it's called exactly) but we ended up switching because he did not like his order. Well, the chicken was fine when you dip it in the sauce but the rice and bread were bitter. The pasta was good though that I ended up eating half of it too. The service was slow. The Level Two Restaurant is located on the second floor inside the Hyatt Centric Magnificent Mile hotel. My first visit, I ordered the guacamole and chips, plus a pint of a local craft brew. Followed by a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. The salad was way overdressed, the grilled shrimp were cooked properly and were very tasty. My second visit, was for breakfast in the morning, I ordered an omelette, with a side of bacon a glass of V8 juice and a cup of coffee. The omelette was well constructed and tasty. This restaurant/bar was in our hotel, so we stopped by a couple times during our stay. On our first night, we visited the bar for drinks and dessert. I got the pomegranate martini (New Amsterdam vodka, pama, fresh fruit juices) - it was fruity as promised, not too sweet. A good refreshing drink. We also got their creme brulee - this one was a little disappointing. The caramarlization was good and crispy. But the custard was wayyy too runny. I would have liked more consistency in the custard. I did like the strawberry slices and blackberry and mint leaf on top! And it was the perfect size for two! We also visited for breakfast, especially since the hotel gave us $30 off. We got the breakfast buffet for $27 per person. This includes traditional breakfast (sausage, egg, potato), fresh seasonal fruits, pastry, coffee and juice, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal with variety of toppings, granola. It's a lot of choices! But the food was okay. I got scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon, potatoes, a piece of quiche, lots of fruit, yogurt, pastry, grapefruit juice. From deep dish pizza (you know, the kind that you *must* use a fork and knife with), to the fresh hummus and crispy lettuce and bell pepper bites, TO THE MACARONS! Level Two catered a Yelp event and my experience was a genuine 10/10. A polite, efficient bartender handled the volume of the crowd, the manager was prompt at greeting guests, elaborated on descriptions of the food being catered, and at one point when I was lost, help me find my way. This may come as a shock, but you need to head to the second floor of the hotel for this spot. When we went, there weren't many people there and service was a bit slow. My friend's Old Fashioned took about 20 minutes to make. We were so confused what was taking so long. The others all had beer so that came out a bit quicker. Prices are what you'd expect at a hotel bar. Atmosphere....feels like a hotel bar. Ha! While there we ordered some fries to munch on and they were alright. But then...we also ordered their flourless chocolate cake for $7 and it was divine! We shared it between three of us and it was just the right amount, so rich and delicious! We saw on the Groupon that it said make reservations- I was unsure why though, because when we arrived there was plenty of places to sit. The waitress informed us that they discontinued their brunch menu but they would stiil honor the amount it was worth. I wasn't really planning for lunch and nothing really sounded appeasing to me. My boyfriend knew he wanted a burger right away, along with the truffle fries. I chose the burger also, just because everything seemed too "extra" for me. I always look up places before I go and I really had my eyes set on chicken and waffles. Major disappointment. I did however get the salad, which was pretty good. Mimosas were just okay (Would had paired better with brunch). Overall fancy place, pretty good service. Burger was very overpriced and fries weren't anything special in my opinion. Level Two is a hotel restaurant located inside the Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile. I had the breakfast buffet at this restaurant, which normally costs $24 per person, but was complimentary with a room stay. The breakfast was delicious. Coincidentally, months prior, I had the breakfast buffet at Tides inside the Hyatt Regency Long Beach (California) and I couldn't help but notice the similarities between the two restaurants' breakfast menus. The menu formats were identical, but the dishes were different to focus on each city/state's regional cuisine. Neat. I got a nice assortment of food from the buffet which included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, skillet potatoes, and steel cut oatmeal with banana chips, raisins (purple and golden), pine nuts, and sunflower seeds. I also got sourdough toast with Darbo jelly (the Hyatt Long Beach also had Darbo jellies), a strawberry Danish, muffin, and fresh fruit including blueberries, blackberries, and honeydew. To drink, I had water and hot coffee with cream and sugar, poured tableside by our server. Everything was fresh and tasty. Service was great. The hostess and servers were very polite and attentive. I fixed a plate to take back to our friends' hotel room and the hostess grabbed two packets of disposable silverware and napkins for me. How nice. Level Two is a classy restaurant with a modern design and elegant decor. The breakfast buffet here is definitely not your run-of-the-mill hotel breakfast buffet. There's an air of sophistication. For guests of the hotel, I think it's ideal -- there's something for everybody. However, I'm not sure I'd make a special trip from outside just to eat the breakfast buffet though. They do have an a la carte breakfast menu and also serve brunch, lunch, and dinner with a full-service bar. Ask about their lunch and happy hour specials. read more

The weekend brunch buffet was such a good deal when they had it - I was impressed. We went back last month to try out the brunch menu and it was just mediocre. My husband had the chicken and waffles. I found the waffles to be dry, and the chicken was not as flavorful as I expected. I had the shrimp /grits with sausage gravy. Don't be misled, there's really no sausage in the gravy, they chop it up into small pieces and add it to the gravy for flavor. The shrimp was very good and the grits were done fine but I was really underwhelmed by the gravy which should have brought the entire dish together. We really liked the buffet before if anything for the food because we don't drink but too bad we found out that they will not be bringing back the buffet anytime soon. I would pass on this restaurant and look for plenty of other good places around streeterville. read more

I was at Northwestern and needed a spot nearby to grab lunch. I was going to give this two stars for the food but upgraded because the server I had was actually super nice and I like the book idea with the check. When you get off of the elevators, there is no signage saying where the restaurant is so that is confusing. However, it is just to the left. The bar is first but they are not open for lunch. It was confusing to me because there were two people behind the bar and, again, no signage so it was unclear that the bar is a separate entity from the restaurant. I heard two other people also ask if the bar was open after I did so it definitely wasn't just me. The bartender told me just to pick a spot and a server would come. She eventually did but there only appeared to be one person working the entire dining area. However, in a confusing action, some other guy took over mid-meal without any explanation. He was much more attentive, however, so it was okay. I got the calamari only so it's hard to judge the food based on one dish, but this was not a good one. The calamari was extremely rubbery and there was far too much breading on it. The breading was also pretty bland. I did like the presentation though as it was served with two different dipping sauces and I nicely charred lemon. The saving grace of the dish was the aioli, which was amazing and lended much-needed flavor to the calamari itself once dipped in it. It had a nice spice to it as well. When they bring the check, it's inserted into this small book which has patrons over the years notes in it. Many people note what they ate, their names and where they are from. I thought that idea was super awesome, particularly because the restaurant is in a hotel so they get visitors from all over. read more

My group and I had a great experience at Level Two Restaurant this morning! A Groupon search lead us here, and if getting 33% off wasn't good enough, we had an amazing meal to catch up over. Not a traditional brunch buffet, however the entree selections were sufficient. Each dish was a perfect serving size, and it was incredibly delicious! I ordered the flavorful Chorizo Breakfast Bowl, which in turn I highly recommend. Don't be shy to try out the Chilaquiles or Chicken and Waffles too! I don't want to forget to mention our amazing server. I immensely regret not getting her name, but our server was incredibly attentive, kind, and quick to give us updates on our order and fulfill our requests for refills or condiments. The food and service has improved a lot over the last 6 months. Great spot for Sunday brunch. I have called ahead to make reservations but when we got there they had few tables open so you should not have a problem getting a table specially if you show up right when they open at 11am. Don't forget to buy a Groupon or living social deal before you get there. With one of the discount deals you get to select a drink and breakfast meal per person and keep some hard earned dough in your pocket. They start off by bringing a small bowl of mini donuts to get the day going. It was nice to see the manager helping out with tables and supporting the staff. I found a brunch for 4 on groupon and thought I'd give Level Two a try. When we arrived, it was that busy for Sunday 11am, which worried me a bit, but we got seated-the hostess was nice- and our server brought out complimentary donuts shortly after. We had the short-rib omelet that came with hash browns, the chilaquiles chicken that came in a large bowl, the grass fed burger with fries, and the pork belly sandwich that came with hash browns. The short-rib omelet was decent but nothing special. The hashbrowns we undercooked. The chilaquiles chicken was amazing and came in a great portion. I repeat-amazing. The grass fed burger was ordered medium but came well done. Very dry, no flavor, didn't like the bun,nor the whole burger, actually. The fries, though, were on point! The pork belly sandwich was delicious and cooked perfectly, however, once again, the hashbrowns were undercooked and soggy. For drinks, we all started with Bloody Mary's. Now, I am not happy nor proud that we had to do this, but we ALL had to send them back. The best way that I could describe the taste was that it tasted like cow-like when you go to a farm and you smell the cow-in-a-farm smell. Pretty bad for a drink. I ended up replacing the Bloody Cow, I mean Bloody Mary, with a drink off the menu called "Tee Time", made with titos vodka and earl grey tea syrup, lemon, and some grapefruit bitters. It was a well crafted, light, and amazing drink. Overall, 3 stars, the food definitely could've had a little more time spent on it, especially since there was literally only 2 tables that had customers, us occupying 1 of the 2 tables. My husband got the breakfast buffet, which included coffee. It had regular things like scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, but also had fancy cheeses, like Havarti with dill, and fancy meats too, like mortadella. Our plates were filled with food and our cocktails were great! I had the Chicken Chilaquiles, which was easily enough for 2 people! It was so good, reminded me of huevous rancheors! While we waited for our food, we were able to sample various types of small doughnuts from a local shop and sip on our cocktails. Had brunch here today before the bridal expo and based on previous reviews I thought it would be great. If I could rate on food alone it would have been 4 stars without a doubt but unfortunately the service killed it for me. The server tool a bit to come by and when he did he mentioned that he would only be helping us until our actual server arrived. He took our drink order and then we waited. ..and waited...and waited some more... we were on a bit of a time crunch ad we were there for a bridal show at 1pm. Around 11:50, we got our drinks, the busses stopped by a few times and tried his best to hurry the process along but the bartender was MIA for quite some time. Once we had our drinks they gave us the incorrect order but corrected it. We ordered our food after I finally flagged down the manager who took our order. I mentioned that we were pressed for time so anything they could do was appreciated. At 12:30pm our food arrived, I was given the wrong item so they sent it back and came back with the correct one shortly after. The food was great. My grandma and mom went for egg sandwiches with fries on the side, they enjoyed them and it was a lot of food. I opted for the eggs Benedict with crab cake instead of ham with hash browns, also great. My cousin had the Nutella stuffed french toast and we all had bites and it was tasty as well. The staff realized that I was not happy with the service so I will give them credit for trying to turn things around in the end by being extra attentive once we had our food and giving us a couple of extra mimosas as well as a dessert plate to share, unfortunately the desserts (pictured) were pretty they tasted flavorless and not worth the calories. I know this review seems harsh but I truly believe that constructive criticism helps people learn from mistakes so I truly hope Level Two does that since the food is worth the visit. read more

I really appreciated how they were able to split the checks so that the food was divided among 6 people with each person's drink orders. It's $25 (not including tax or tip) per person. Not too shabby for all you can eat/drink! The food is served buffet style. I thought there was a very decent selection, and a vast array of options. There was a lot of food! Eggs benedict, bacon/sausage, thinly sliced steak and potatoes, seafood patella, little cast-iron pots filled with sausage and peppers, granola, a meat/cheese section, and fruit/salad selections. There was also a omelet bar, a bread/bagel station, and a nice table of desserts. On top of all of this, there is a table where you can make your own bloody mary or mimosa. Lots of fresh juices, fruit purees, and all kind of bloody mary-ish options (olives, pickles, etc). Once you make your base, the server brings you your choice of booze (champagne or vodka). Service was excellent. Our server was Courtney, and she was friendly and attentive. Overall, the food was all fresh and tasty. I think the eggs benedict (served on top of an english muffin with ham) was my favorite (aside from the mimosas of course!). Their checkbooks are cool as well, they are little journals, which you can sign kind of like a guest book. Although we got there at 11:30 and there was a copious amount of sun out, somehow we get seated at the dimmest lighted table there was. We were seated and were served assorted mini donuts which was delicious. We ordered our bloody Mary's because, Sunday brunch called for it. To be short, it was the worst tasting Bloody Mary I have ever had. Please trust me when I tell you that I have had my fair share of Bloody Marys. We returned all 4 of our bloody marys for another drink. We had that the Tee Time and the bellinis, much better. Collectively, we ordered the burger (Mind you we ordered it medium), Short rib omelet, pork belly sandwich, and Chicken Chilequiles. The best tasting meal had to have been the pork belly sandwich. The short rib omelet fell short, it lacked the key ingredient, salt. There was nothing really special about it. The burger was dry and as most of my regular readers know, I don't handle over cooked meats well. ESPECIALLY in the application in which meat was used (burger form). It was almost absurdly dry. We also had the chicken chilequiles which left something to be desired it was like a big mush of contrasting flavors. I feel like this place could really use a revamping of their menu and try to refine the basics like the use of salt then get innovative. I used a voucher from travel zoo deal. they have own mimosa and bloody marry station that you can make your own drinks. very fun! their number of food are limited for buffet but good quality. you can find most menu for brunch like egg Benedict, own omelet,,etc service was nice. This is a review for Travel zoo deal - Magnificent Mile Brunch w/Cocktails for 2 Don't hesitate to jump on the deal if it ever comes up again. This is an excellent steal of a deal. I came on a Saturday around 11:30am. Reservations are recommended for brunch, but I didn't have one and was seated within 5 minutes. The cocktail refills are unlimited. They have a self-serve bloody mary station or juice station (orange, pineapple, apple) and the servers adds the alcohol at your table. The server came back multiple times asking for refills. The food at the breakfast stations felt fresher and higher end than normal breakfast food. They also had greens and salads. I was also impressed with their dessert stations and pastries (I love bear claws). The desserts were equivalent to what I would find at 5-star Vegas Buffet. read more

I need to divide my review into 2 part - service and food. I understand that this is a newly opened restaurant and lounge area in the hotel. However, after 3 weeks, it would seem that they would start to get familiar with how things worked or, better yet, that the restaurant had actually hired staff with some prior experience inside a restaurant. Some of the staff are very nice, however after staying several nights and eating there multiple times, this area needs some work. Friday morning - despite the fact that the hostess had seated me for most mornings of the week - she came up to me in front of other people, and told me that I would need to pay for the breakfast buffet - that it wasn't free. First of all, isn't this a conversation you would have with the waitress? She had sat us at the table with menus that clearly stated the price. I hadn't sneaked out any other morning without paying in full. Even if this is an issue with other guests, it was poorly handled. The food, I must say, is better than the service. They seem to use fresh ingredients that are locally sourced. For a downtown hotel lobby restaurant the prices are reasonable. They have a nive variety of food - including a sushi menu. I hope that the growing pains are short lived. This is a great hotel with a nice staff, new, comfortable rooms and a fantastic gym. read more
