    Artichoke side. Truffle fries
    Nina C.

Stayed in this hotel and was lucky enough to try both the rooftop restaurant and state and Lake Tavern. They were open late night, which was perfect after a long day of traveling when I just wanted a snack in my pajamas. The bartender was so nice, I sat there with my computer, taking up space and he was so friendly. I absolutely loved the truffle fries, and the portions were so generous. I also tried the artichokes, I usually love artichokes, but this one wasn't my favorite, I think the texture didn't have enough of a crunchy aspect, maybe a little char or something would have done the trick. The next day, I tried the lychee cocktail, which was also so good and easy to drink down. Prices were fair and the ambience is classy and delicate. Totally will come back.

Stopped in on a layover, and got the Butcher burger. It was delicious, and absolutely perfectly cooked. The bacon had a fantastic smoky flavor, and the fries were hot and crispy. The bartender was super responsive and friendly. The tavern itself has an upscale vibe, with lots of dark wood and tasteful decor. 10/10, would recommend.

Krombacher tap. They serve it in Krombacher etched glasses too.

This place has a really fun vibe, and lots of space to sit without feeling like you are right on top of the other patrons. Great staff, very friendly and efficient, good, job of keeping up with everything in a pretty busy place. Sadly, the food was, well... average. Chicago is known as a foodie town but this was just...meh. Not sure I would come back again.

Was a nice late night spot. Had the wings and ceaser salad. Wings were great and salad was good but to much dressing. Not to say it tasted bad just ask for light dressing and it will be killer. Staff was very nice and enjoyable

Fun restaurant located in the Wit hotel. There's a little for everyone on the menu and the variety of drink is fantastic. They have local brews along with fancy holiday themed spirits. The staff is very friendly and the vibe is a great tavern style. If you're attending a show in the area, I would highly recommend grabbing a meal/drinks here before or after.

Absolutely one of the worst experiences. Came here for thanksgiving and it was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Very disappointed spent my Thanksgiving here. First, I get it's a tavern but it was a holiday and you would think they would try to be holiday appropriate. They had the football game so loud you could barely hear the server. The server wasn't very friendly but I heard other servers speaking to their tables so it sounds like she was just rude to us. Would disappear for long periods of times. They lied about the menu. There was supposed to be a seafood bar and there certainly wasn't one. The salad bar was okay. I got the prime rib and it was cold and awful. Truly the worst beef I have ever had. The gravy or sauce on the prime rib was too sweet. The mashed potatoes were terrible. The only good thing in my plate was the asparagus. My drink was good and was a good pour. I'll give them that. The asparagus was the only thing I finished. Lol just awful experience and regrettable experience. Would never come back and wouldn't recommend.

My experience was perfect! The food was hot and tasty; especially the grilled chicken Caesar salad. Our waiter was very friendly, professional and attentive, providing excellent fast service.

    Cheesy ( too much) potatoes

So a friend of mine was in town singing at Buddy Guy. I wanted to take her to a good Blues brunch and saw this ad advertised so if we went. Expected a loud raucous brunch with blues music blasting in the background. There were two guys gently playing a guitar and keyboard and not a blues tune in earshot. Ordered beignets and had to send them back because they tasted like hard donuts. Since I don't eat meat, the only thing on the menu I could share with my friend was a vegetable succotash and a cheesy potato dish. We were hoping to enjoy some meatless omelettes. They did take the beignets off of our bill. Wait staff seemed to be overwhelmed but was only 5 or 6 tables. Got up twice to get cream for the coffee and hot sauce for the dishes. But met Daniel the manager on the way out and he was more than gracious and told us that veggie omelettes were available by request but not on the menu Might have to give it another try. And might have to give them some blues Musician phone numbers.

Ate here twice for dinner since I was staying at The Wit and beyond impressed with the service and food. Went for the NY Strip steak, Caesar salad and variety of drinks and was never disappointed. The steak was cooked to perfection both times and the bartenders are excellent in their cocktail execution. Special acknowledgement to Miguel for his service and helpfulness in navigating the menu. I had a great server at the bar as well my second night but unfortunately did not catch his name. I will absolutely come here again if I stay in the area on my next Chicago trip.

    Salmon avocado toast

Located on State and Lake, this conveniently located restaurant is close to the Wit Hotel. For $45, the three prix fix menu was not tasty. The avocado toast with cured salmon was ok. I do like crispy toast and this was not toasty. The chicken pot pie was reimagined with soupy filling and crusty top and tasty. The cheese cake was beautiful but lacked flavor. Maybe the regular menu might be better? The ambiance was nice and quiet for Monday night.

My wife and I visited Steak and Lake on a busy Friday night, and while it can get crowded, the service was still attentive--just be prepared for a bit of a wait. The food was well worth it! I had the NY Strip, and my wife enjoyed the Steak Medallions, both of which were incredible. Since we were staying at The Wit Hotel, we came back for breakfast the next morning, and it was equally delicious. The cinnamon French toast was amazing, and my seafood omelet was packed with flavor. With a great menu and ample seating, this is a fantastic spot for any meal. I'd recommend making a reservation for larger groups. We'll definitely be back!

For the 17th annual Chicago Restaurant Week, I choose to go to State and Lake Chicago Tavern. Can you believe it? Me, being a self-proclaimed foodie participating in Chicago Restaurant Week for the first time! Well it was a great experience, because I went there after work and met up with a great friend. I was able to enjoy a really nice drink and order from the Chicago Restaurant Week menu items. The vibe of the restaurant was really nice. It's next to The Wit Hotel, and I was able to sit in there while waiting for the restaurant to open at 5pm. You can conveniently enter the restaurant from the hotel lobby. Our waitress for this busy night was really nice and attentive. Now for the food and drinks. The best thing was the cocktail, appetizer and dessert. My cocktail was the Winterfell with Absolut Vodka, cranberry, lemon jucie and grenadine. I tried the Burrata and Spiced Sweet Potato Bruschetta for the appetizer. My friend ate the Winter Salad and Wild Mushroom Risotto and enjoyed everything. For my entree, I decided to get the Braised Short Rib Bourguignon. This could have been so much better, but the potatoes were super watery, and I feel like short rib was missing seasoning, and could have been much more flavorful. If I decide to go back, I'd really like to try the Steak Frites or the Prime New York Strip. I saw a few tables order, and it looked delicious. Overall, I'll give this restaurant 3 stars and that's only because I feel the entree could have been much better. I'd definitely give it another chance.

This is an excellent option for people staying near the theaters! We decided to come here before a showing a Hamilton and I'm so glad! The service was prompt and friendly, so we were in and out without feeling rushed! We started with cocktails which were pretty good! I would maybe order a different one next time but for not knowing what to get I was pretty satisfied We then got the deviled egg appetizer which was also amazing, followed by our entrees We chose the Stake frites and the Short rib dinner both were cooked beautifully and super flavorful! I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an affordable but high-class meal in Chicago!

Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

They also have a patio, and with the weather being nice, it was easy to just sit outside and relax for a while. I was honestly too hungry to spend much time deciding, so I just ordered one of the sourdough donut ball. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The outside had a light coating of sugar that gave it just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. It had a light crispness on the outside, then a warm, pillowy center that practically melted away with each bite. I finished it way faster than I expected. The only thing I forgot was ordering something to drink with it. Looking back, a good coffee would've made it even better. Still, I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds. This is the place you bring people close to you, business lunches, meetings, formal ir informal, or like me, save it for myself as my own getaway spot. I know it sounded silly, but I enjoyed chewing these coconut flakes and they were good palate cleansers! The presentation was da bomb as well. The only reason that I couldn't give five stars to "Stockyard" was limited seating. The place was super cute, but there were only 3 tables and less than 4 high chair seating against the windows, plus some outdoor seating on the pedestrian walkway. The laptop users were respectfully directed to sit at the windows and outlets were available. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable. I asked the details of the latte flight and they explained the offerings. I thought there was only one type of latte flights, but I believe the one I selected was very much suited to my preferences. Then flan center is a perfect level of sweetness and it's a solid version! Pineapple Bun (4.25/5): Surprising banger. Bread was super soft and still decently moist with a thick cookie crust to add texture and flavor. Chicken Pot Pie (3/5): This one had a bit too little of the meat ratio and somehow the form factor made the pastry much less flaky. Curry Beef Puff (4/5): Flaky crust and perfect ratio of meat to carbs. Beef is perfectly seasoned and doesn't eat greasy at all.
