    Charcuterie and Bruschetta

Came in after a long day of travel. The vibes in the bar are very polished speakeasy (in a good way!) The bartender was fabulous and made very smooth drinks. I had a lychee refresher and it was incredible. Ordered the bruschetta and the charcuterie board and both were also delicious little snacky finger food that went well with a good drink. Absolutely fabulous place to unwind!

Meh! While staying at the attached hotel, we stopped into the bar area for a cocktail before going out. Walking in to the dark room, it looked nice and relaxing. We sat at the big bar and waited. Finally a sullen bartender walked up looking like she hated life. No smile. No greeting. After an uncomfortable exchange, we ordered our beverages. My friend loved her drink. My less than full glass arrived with no garnish. Our bartender never came back so we had to flag her down for the bill. On the 2nd night we tried it again, stopping in for a nightcap. We thought we might have a different experience with a different bartender. It was almost the exact same scenario. Our bartender walked up and abruptly said the kitchen is closing. I asked if the cocktail I had ordered the night before came with a garnish and she replied with sarcasm, of course it does. I give up. The next time I stay at this hotel, I'll head around the corner to Coq d 'Or at the Drake Hotel. Hey management, train your staff on brand standards, operational details and customer service.

Not bad, came here for lunch cause there was a long line to check in at the Westin. The ambience was pretty relaxed and the bartender was very attentive. Ordered a shishito pepper and a chicken club. The shishito pepper came with a nice aioli. The chicken club sandwich was well done and pretty filling for a lunch portion. Don't think I'd go out of my way to come eat here again but if I'm staying at the hotel wouldn't be against grabbing a bite. Oh and got a Guinness. It was a good Guinness.

The broth is the kind you want to keep dipping bread into and practically lick off your fingers afterward -- flavorful, savory, and a little briny without being the heavy creamy type of sauce that some places do. Very comforting but not overly rich. Honestly, I don't even remember all the other dishes we've ordered over the years, but our experiences have consistently been good. Service is polished, the space feels classic Chicago, and it's a great place to relax before or after a performance downtown.

We went on the memorial weekend, and we didn't know we are getting the brunch intead of the lunch menu. We were so gonna get that fish and chips equivalent, so it took us some time to finally decided on the meal choice. My husband got the breakfast with chicken sausages, while I got the burger. Their burger is great with two thin patties. The veggies and pickles with it is delicious. The bun is pretty good. The fries was decent. His breakfast is so much better than mine though! I tried everything on his plate and it was good! After we finished our meal, we also took some nice pictures at the balcony which you can see all the way to the Field Museum area on a nice weather day. The restaurant is conveniently located near the Grant Park area. We actually visited the cloud gate, fountain, The cultural center, Target/5 below, comic stores, route 66 sign, Chicago stock exchange arch, and the art institution all in that trip. Very convenient! Their reservation opens 2 weeks before. If we ever go back to Chicago, we will definitely visit them again. Hopefully I will complete my Invisalign treatment and can actual eat more food! The elevator is very "vintage" btw. We tried both the express and regular elevators and that was an interesting ride...
