About 3 weeks later my eye wasn't any better. I looked online for an Ophthalmologist through my insurance provider. Levenson Eye came up quite a few times as they have several locations and many doctors in their practice. I made my appointment and got scheduled for right about a week later. They mailed me a packet of papers to complete so I wouldn't have to wait longer when I arrived having to fill them out. The office is a fairly good size. Once you check in with the receptionist. You wait for a doctors assistant to come grab you. The wait was kinda long for me. My appointment was at 11:40 and I didn't get called back until almost 12. Once the Doctor's assistant tested my vision, eye pressure and took some notes, I was led to another waiting area. This wait wasn't too long. About another 10 minutes. I saw Dr McDonald. He was very nice, greeted me and got right down to the issue. He ended up trying to unclog my tear ducts which was strange and I was kind of freaked out. He also gave me some steroid drops and told me it could take about 4 days to get better. About 2 days later my eye was feeling better and by day 4, a 100% improvement!! I can finally see and sleep again! While the doctor was great, the receptionist was nice, the building easy enough to find and the care good, my only issues were with my Doctor assistant who didn't really have a bed side manner at all and the long wait. Overall I would recommend this office. They are located on the west side of San Jose behind Wells Fargo on Hartley.

My eyes were so bad that my optometrist would not give me a new glasses prescription. I was so blind I could no longer read street signs or see traffic lights well, especially if I had the sun in my face. I like Dr. Schnipper. He has a quirky personality. Some of his staff however, especially in the surgical center, could use some CS training. While I was laying on the gurney waiting my turn to go into surgery, there was a lot of in-house gossip going on around me. I found that to be rather unprofessional. I'm glad my first surgery on my right eye was a much more pleasant experience compared to my second visit for my left eye. The IV insertion was nothing the first time. I barely felt it go in and when it came out all I was left with was a tiny red dot. The second time, OMG, I walked out of there looking like my hand had been slammed in a car door. The person that tried to do this IV destroyed my hand. There was no hope of finding a vein so then she tried my arm. A week later and I still have a big bruise from that. Do NOT let the lady with blonde hair in bob style with bangs do your IV. Ask for somebody else. If she had been the one to do my first IV, I would have been terrified to go back for my second surgery. I felt like I was being stung by bees. I added pictures just to show I am NOT being overly dramatic. It's a week later now and my hand is still bruised up, just not as dark now.

My comment is towards whoever is mismanaging the appointment and patient intake process. Stop scheduling people 15 minutes apart when you know full well the average wait time is over an hour. Your staff and all of the patients will appreciate it.

My experience with Dr. Gulani (TLDR version: Did not help my vision, dishonest, all hype, STEER…read moreCLEAR!) I try to avoid writing negative reviews, but I feel that the Gulani "hype" needs to be exposed to help save others from falling for it like I did. My history before visiting Dr. Gulani: I got RK in the '90s, 16 cuts in each eye. Left eye not so bad (20/30). Right eye was worse (20/50); I had been wearing a scleral lens for the last 10 years. It was great (easily 20/20) but as I got older, it was no longer correcting my vision enough, so I wanted to visit Dr. Gulani with the goal of not having to wear contacts or reading glasses. During the consultation, he promised me, "you'll be able to read and see far without glasses or lenses." I got the LaZrPlastique in the right eye in January 2026. My biggest worry was that it wouldn't correct my vision enough and I'd still need to get a new scleral to see clearly. Wow, was I wrong on multiple fronts. First off, my vision actually GOT WORSE after Dr. Gulani's surgery (20/100). If you're an RK patient, you know about multiple images--sit in a dark room with a single LED about 10 feet away (such as the red LED on a TV that's off). An RK patient will see a pattern of multiple LEDs due to the irregular astigmatism. Well, that pattern got LARGER (spread out more), not smaller, after LaZrPlastique. In simple terms, I now have "double vision." In technical terms, my astigmatism went from 2.4 D to 2.9 D as measured by an Oculus Pentacam. Second, perhaps the more disturbing aspect, is Dr. Gulani's response regarding astigmatism. I mentioned the Pentacam map and my multiple images and he basically shouted that I'm stupid, that "topography isn't vision...refraction is vision!" Well, guess what? He destroyed my topography and now I can't see! Refraction means nothing if you're seeing multiple of everything. I don't think he understands how important topography is (duh, why do you think scleral lenses work so well for us?). Third, he flat-out lied to me and said, "you're the only patient that has had this complaint." Any fool can read reviews and find numerous instances of similar results, and those reviews basically follow the same path--poor results, Dr. Gulani denies it, he tells them to just "wait for it to heal." I'm not stupid; I know it's healed, and I'm not going to waste ten years waiting to see if it heals more. And if you carefully study the Yelp reviews, you'll notice this swarm of invalidated positive reviews in bunched-up timeframes...faked, forced, or both? To be fair, the staff were all really nice and it's quite the experience the whole week you're there. But looking back, it seems like more of a big circus. "Well, that procedure is normally this price, but for you it's lower." How gimmicky is that? Dr. Gulani is so pompous, it'll make you vomit...the office is a shrine to his ego. He goes on and on about he's the only one who can do what he does, making a big show of "did my Canada patient land yet?" I think it's all in his head; his sense of self-importance is so inflated and I don't know if he's capable of admitting failure. I'm not going to sue him; I knew it was a gamble going in. I just didn't think the "best in the world" could possibly do such a bad job. I'm guessing his true success rate is much lower than the hype would lead you to believe. I'm sure Dr. Gulani has helped many people. I think if you have very low astigmatism (less than 0.5 D) but need a major refraction adjustment (let's say you're 20/200), Dr. Gulani might be able to take you down to 20/40. But because he's only doing PRK and not TG-PRK, he can't clear up your irregular astigmatism. Oh, and he called my local eye doctor a buffoon for writing "patient went to Florida to have surgery by a doctor who claims he can fix RK." Yeah. Real professional. I wish I got paid $20,000 a day and wasn't accountable for the results.

The reason I am writing this review is. after 4 visits to their office after my surgery, and 6 months later, no one, his partner Dr Agee or any of the techs, or Dr Adams himself has given me any relief for my severely inflamed eyes after the surgery. I was told it was, dry eye, then allergies, then both dry eyes and allergies. They prescribed me some eye drops, that I told them didn't help and said basically live with it. Being the bulldog that I am, I did not accept this diagnosis. There is a whole world out there that treats dry eye. There is even a name for it "Blepharitis and MGD". Neither of these conditions where every mentioned before or after the surgery. There are specialists who treat this problem. I never had this problem before cataract surgery. They should of at least let me know it existed and had someone to send me to. I am seeing a specialist in Atlanta now, North Georgia Eye Clinic, that treats this problem. And I am not in pain anymore. I will not go back to Riverside Eye Clinic again. I am angry they left me just hanging with such a horrible condition and even more angry they either didn't know of the condition or chose to keep quite about the condition. Either way that is why a one star rating. Now they have the nerve to send me a bill for one of my visits that I had outstanding. So I am charged for not getting any help.
