Florida Eye Specialists (San Marco) gets TWO THUMBS DOWN. After reading all of the glowing reviews, my expectations were high. My visit, however, turned out to be a huge disappointment. I was in the waiting room for almost an hour before being called back to be fitted for contact lenses. A technician came in 10 minutes later, asked questions, then left the room. A few minutes later she returned to inform me that they did not have my contacts in stock and nothing could be done today. Here's the (not so) amussing part...My original appointment was scheduled 4 days from now. Their office called a couple days ago to move up my appointment to today. At the time, I was very impressed with their efficiency. Needless to say, I am not impressed anymore. There was a total disregard for my time. I scheduled time off from work twice - one day for my original appointment and then again for the earlier appointment that they rescheduled. I drove to the southside of Jax from work (which is in Southeast Georgia). I waited an hour just to be told that they didn't have my contacts and nothing could be done today. You'd think that someone in their office would have verified that my contacts were in stock (or at least ordered) BEFORE scheduling my original appointment or BEFORE rescheduling my appointment for an earlier date. If you decide to utilize their services, do yourself a favor a double check with their office before you head out the door. Once I got home, I called and asked to speak to Ali, the office manager. The receptionist noted my concerns (and likely my irritation) and promised that I'd be hearing back from her soon. Instead, I randomly received an email with a new appointment scheduled for mid-March. I then received a text message asking me to write a review. So here it is. Florida Eye Specialists, I'd give you a big fat ZERO star if I were able. Unfortunately, that's not an option so I'm giving you this one star review. In my opinion, you do not deserve one star! Thanks for making me waste part of a vacation day, gas, and my time. In the future, respect your patients and check your inventory BEFORE scheduling their appointments. Please don't waste anyone else's time or money. Oh and if you'd like to compensate me for my lost vacation time and gas, I'll gladly accept cash, check, or a gift card. The worst place ever, Victor was no help at all. He was to bust hurrying me off the phone and not listening to what I needed. Scheduled appointment wrong, did not ask helpful questions, and then because of that booked me with the wrong provider. The he kept me on hold when looking for another doctor, then said he hold and he would transfer me to Palm Coast held for 10 more minutes until I ended up with a headache. If they have such incompetent staff before you can even see a doctor, I just don't need another headache. If you decide to go there, ask for a different front staff person. read more

This place has wonderful doctors that specialize in serious eye problems. It might take a while to get to the bottom of the problem, but they never give up. I think I am a terrible eye patient because I blink too much and my eyes don't like anything near or close to them. Lol. I wonder what they say about me when I leave. I was originally referred to this place through my insurance when I decided to take a leap and get LASIK. I ended up having PRK and my vision has been greatly improved thanks to Dr. Chokshi. Since then I've decided to make Florida Eye Specialists my place for all things related to my eyes. I haven't seen Dr. Chokshi since my PRK followup but he's still there. I'm sure he's busy being one of the best Ophthalmologists in town. On this particular visit I needed to have a checkup because I felt my vision was changing slightly. This time I saw Dr. Riordan the Optometrist who was so nice and didn't rush through my exam. She answered all my questions and even wanted to set up a Glaucoma test since it runs in my family. She felt my vision changing was due to my dry eyes after running a dry eye evaluation and hooked me up with some eye drops and eye vitamins. I'm just glad it wasn't my actual vision. 08.07.2019. Dr Freidl , I just want to mention that my wife and I are 84 year old seniors. She is me best friend and my care giver. Some time ago Madeline was diagnosed with glaucoma both eyes. We met up with one of the finest caring young doctors we have ever came in contact with. Since our first meeting Maddy has had surgery on both eyes and over time many drops. Do to Dr Friedl's caring and expertise on the surgery table Maddy is 100% Ok as of today and her next visit down the line is six months away. We can only say thank you to this very fine doctor. Do to this again fine doctor Maddy's eyes are healthy and as my care giver she will be able to go on and be her usual help to me. Thank you Dr. Friedl. read more

If you have Medicare they will charge you 50.00 more dollars for the prescription calling it a refractior which is the eye exam. Medicare pays for this but using the name of the machine refractor, they consider you too stupid to know the difference. If you are looking for new pair of glasses just go to a 39.00 place they also take medicare. read more

I took my wife to Florida eye specialists, as she needed cataract surgery. We had to go there 2 times. There was unusual wait times involved, and it took a couple of times for them to figure it all out. I think this place should change it's name to Florida eye, we don't have a clue; because the bottom line to it all: She never got the surgery. After calling them back several times, they finally said that because she had COPD, she would have to be admitted in a hospital to have the procedure, then they never called back. We finally went to Dr. Schnipper, on College street. One visit, and she is finally going to have surgery. read more

So far so good I have an upcoming surgery with Dr. joesph Parks on Dec 27,2019. I'm hoping to get what I expected so I can send referrals. The staff were good the only thing I didn't like was the lack of communication. They let my short term disability paperwork sit on their desk without telling me there was a $50 fee to complete it. That's the only thing I didn't like. They don't communicate well again because I was told that on the date of surgery I'd pay my balance but in my post op interview they were asking for payment. I have been thinking about having Lasik for some time now but I have always been scared to have surgery, however after meeting with Dr. Chokshi and his staff I felt a lot more comfortable. The Lasik procedure its self felt like it took 5 mins. It went by so quickly and Dr. Chokshi talks to you through out whole process making sure that you are comfortable and helped keep your mind off of whats going. I was seen by Doctor Chokshi twice by this clinic. He is an exceptional doctor & I would rate him 5 stars!! It is very evident he cares for his patients & he even called to check up on me before he knew I had made a follow up appointment! He's fantastic! I made the doctors very aware that I was visiting from out of town & the drive to the clinic was 40 minutes for me & I had limited transportation. However, at my follow up visit today at 2:30 I had to wait until 3:20 just to be called back for my appointment. This was after watching several staff members walk in and out of offices directly in front of me just to chit chat, so they were clearly staffed. After being called back & "prepped" to see my new doctor I waited another 10-15 minutes for my doctor to enter the room. During the middle of my 15 minute appointment I heard her phone vibrate & she left the room to take a phone call. This was after I had already expressed how upset I was about the wait. In total, my appointment took no more than 15 minutes, but my wait time was almost 1 hour and 15 minutes total, including waiting for my doctor to finish her personal call. I am supposed to have another follow up appointment Friday and I refuse to drive that far and wait that long for the type of service I received today. I'd rather wait until I get home.
