The problem is a douche name Coach Cam who lures you in with a promise of this free 28 day fitness challenge. He asks you what your goals are, for me it was being able to do a pull-up. He writes that down and creates a contract. But I thought it was free? you ask. Oh of course it is but we need a deposit so that you have skin in the game. Wtf? Of course you'll get it all back he promises but we really hope youll want to stick around. Fast forward 28 days and I'm still not able to do a pull-up. But guess, what that was part of the contract?! You can't do a pull up so we're going to keep your deposit. Are you kidding?! I demanded the return of my deposit and told him as much as I might like to join this gym I'm already a member at another gym like I had told you before we started and I'm not in a position to consider another membership until that one expires. "Do you really think that's fair" says coach cam. "You got to work out here for free." Um Yeah, that was the deal, you smarmy *$$. He refused to give me my money back. Literally said no. Thankfully American Express has my back and they immediately opened an investigation and returned my money. Beware of these gyms and their predatory practices. When a gym claims your workout is free, it should be free. Period. Sign a liability waiver but don't sign a fraudulent contract meant to take advantage of someone excited to try a new gym facility.

If you do, they get on your case for not being friendly. They will continue to force you to lift heavier at the risk of injuring yourself. Workouts no longer makes sense as they put things together like a pull up followed by a TRX leg work out. Or somehow you're supposed to a back squat followed by a single leg squat. So you're either doing a super light squat, or not actually doing a super set because you cannot use that transition time to go into a single leg squat right away. They will clap for you if you went super heavy, even if your form is shit. This leaves room for the new people to follow along and do the same thing. Some coaches too busy flirting with certain clients while the new clients are trying their best on figuring out the work out. So much poor form.

I feel like since she has been an athlete all her life, complete with injuries, I can put my trust in her. She excels at mobility exercises and weigh training techniques, making sure you have proper form. I recently was recovering from surgery and was nervous about getting back into CrossFit WOD's at my gym. I decided I needed some one on one attention and a refresher on my movements. After a few sessions, I feel ready to go back AND I feel like I have better form than when I left actually! I am planning doing some more PT sessions with Becky because the stuff I have learned has been very beneficial.

At 57, not really what one wants to consider. But, since working out with Gabriella at Age Performance, the pain in both my left knee and hip is so significantly diminished, it's remarkable! Now I'm spending my time wondering if I should go back to practicing Aikido--a thought I couldn't have entertained two months ago. Prior to coming to Peak 45, I was a Pilates person, and honestly, I was super scared of Lagree. I…read morethought Lagree was for 25-year-old Instagram stars who drink matcha lattes--definitely not for me. When I first arrived at Peak 45, I was super intimidated--I won't lie, the Megaformer is no joke. But every single teacher was instantly warm, welcoming, and incredibly supportive, even when I needed to be reminded for the 100th time how to do "Scrambled Eggs." I still have work to do in the speed of my transitions and occasionally need the stability pole, my body quickly and visibly changed in ways I had never experienced with any other workout. For decades I have worked out with trainers, lifted weights, and ran 10ks--nothing has ever gotten me as fit as Lagree. I literally feel the strongest I ever have, which is saying something at my age. What I absolutely didn't expect, coming from the often silent world of Pilates, was how incredibly friendly the members are. It feels like a real community where we're all authentically rooting for each other. High-fives and celebration of each other's "shakes" are not uncommon. In my previous Pilates classes, it always felt like being in a middle school library where no one talked to each other. The teachers at Peak 45 are super motivating and create classes that are always fun and simultaneously super challenging. As I said, all the teachers are genuinely friendly,they'll know your name after your first class, celebrate your successes, and encourage you to do more than you thought possible. Peak 45 not only makes you stronger but also creates an incredibly supportive environment. Thank you, Peak 45, for giving me an amazing workout, a wonderful community, and abs!
