Haven't been by here in a while and wanted to have some soul food again. The ambiance is pretty dark. The floors were sticky. The decor needs to be updated. The front counter still appears to have COVID provisions up but the plastic is falling apart. The service was ok. Whenever there was downtime that staff were on their phones. One of the cooks from the back brought out a new tray of baked chicken. After attempting to put the tray on the line, it slipped and some pieces fell into the hot water the tray sits atop. The tray also seeped into the water some. The cook took the tray to the back and within two minutes came back with a tray of chicken to put on the line. A waiting customer saw this and immediately decided not to eat there. She gave back her ticket and said I know that is the same chicken that just fell in the water. I ordered the wings with Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes. It was good. Chicken was fresh and the portions were plentiful. The owner agreed to a cater my event in their Events Room. Then the owner manager a Asian woman named Sue attempted to price gouge me by stating I would have to increase my attendee numbers. I had already sent out invitations. Again, I already had reservations about Levi's. This was formally a Black-owned business. Do not be fooled, just because Black folks work there this is no different from your typical Bullet proof Carry Out. Do yourself a favor, Boycott this business give that their customer service is poor and they are unprofessional in terms of handling business. The pricing is the biggest issue. Just about 18 dollars for this portion alone. It okay but for 18 dollars it doesn't taste like it. The people working are fine, either way the food will come out. Rude and disrespectful! I placed an order through Uber eats, however, I was unable to select my sides. I called the restaurant to give them my complete order and was greeted quite nastily by a woman over the phone. As I explained to her my issue, she cut me off and says "We don't do Uber eats." This of course, was quite disconcerting as I had just placed an order for $40 worth of food. I proceeded to ask her what could be done and her response "I don't know, you need to call them. So disappointed in the quality of the food. We ordered a BBQ Rib platter, and 2 fried chicken platters. The ribs were just pot boiled with bbq sauce thrown on at the end. i went into the store 8/20/23 after work to get dinner for myself and my husband. the food is still as good as i remember, but they now have younger staff there and the whole time I was waiting on my food. This is the place to be for great tasting, reasonable, large servings of soul food. We stopped by for lunch on Sunday after church. To my surprise, it was not crowded when we arrived, but it was a different story when we left. There is so much to choose from. Their choices include beef, pork, poultry and seafood. Didn't get a chance to take a picture of my plate due to having Miss Meal cramps,meaning I was hungry and and they offered dine in. Not my 1st time here, they know how to fix a plate. Meaning it's enough to share or have left overs. This is the side of town i was on when I got here from Atlanta right before the Pandemic hit. I had to really have a vegetable plate or soft food due to having one of my tooth spilt in half and having to eat on one side until I have it pulled in 7 days. I was told I had to try this place. It took me 45 minute to get there and I can say it was a wasted 90 minutes that I'll never get back. When I entered the restaurant there were 7 employees just hanging around. The first impression was as badly as it could have been. No greeting, no "welcome to Levi's" or a simple "how can we help you?". When I ordered my food the person that took my order let me know that it would be 15 minutes. They have ready made meat for take out (I assume) and it looked like it had been there for a while so I was fine with waiting. When I got my food I was missing the extra side that I ordered but I didn't care at that point, I just wanted to eat. One piece of chicken was undercooked, but the other two pieces were ok. The mac and cheese was average but the greens were very good, but I wouldn't drive out of the way to eat here. The food doesn't make up for the crappy service. Even dine in customers are subjected to plastic silverware and a to go container for your food. I'm sitting in a booth eating out of a plastic container with plastic utensils like I'm at a homeless shelter. Overall the food was average and the customer service was atrocious. I try and support local, mom and pop businesses but service eventually says it all and the lethargic and uninterested employees here are as bad as I've seen. Go if you want but you'll feel like you're interrupting the staff from a break. I don't go often but when I do, they never disappoint. The NC BBQ is a wait for the order, but worth it. The greens & the sweet potatoes are my favorite sides. They are so good, it will have you coming back for more. I hear the smothered food are good too. The huspuppies are great when they are hot. The dessert looks good too. My friend and I used to come here a lot a couple years back. We definitely have to go back again soon. But this is a nice restaurant. There are two sides to it. One is the bar area and where the entertainment is held, and the other is mainly the restaurant side. There is a live band there a couple days out of the week, I haven't been in so long so I forgot the days (sorry). The area where the bar is is a little tight, there aren't many chairs there. However, the restaurant side is pretty big. Our favorite bartender there is Q. She is real cool and very patient. They have happy hour there, I believe it ends at 7:00 pm. They have a good food selection on happy hour. Everything is either $3 or $5. They have wings for $5 that have fries included with it as well, you can't beat that. They also have security there after a certain hour. Overall this is a nice place. I highly recommend going there. I would have given them a higher rating if the customer service was better. The food is usually on point and very good (North Carolina BBQ delicious and authentic) however the customer service makes you want to walk out and say forget it. My food took so long to be prepared about 10 others that ordered after me had their food prepared ahead of mine. If the staff was more in sync and friendlier then I could rate a lot higher. As I read the other reviews, again a lot of issues come down to the staff. They have conversations amongst each other, don't have a friendly greeting if they acknowledge you at all and, peoples orders set on the counter as part of mine did with no apologies.
