They are also lowballing more than ever when it comes to giving a customer their pawn offer. Just for them to turn around and sell whatever you gave them for triple the price if you want a really good pawn shop, take the extra 20 minute drive to Springfield and go to we buy everything, they have gotten a lot better and Aston pawnshop has gone downhill. Sorry to say, but it's the truth. The one thing I will give Aston props for is having good customer service.

Many people lost their pawned items, items that were sentimental and very valuable. My family member lost about $9,000 worth of gold jewelry & silver that was pawned and when the owner, Jon Zeitz, got the payout from the insurance company, he only offered to pay them $3,500 minus the interest. Helloooo! You don't charge interest on a pawn that you failed to secure because you neglected to keep the contract. It was discovered that the pawns that were supposed to be locked in a safe were left unsecured and there were several employees. He still owes my family member this money until this day. Jon, you need to pay this debt because you know that you did not lock your pawns away like you should have and quite frankly you had too many hands in the pot so no wonder the theft occured. If you want to get your pawned items back, do not use this pawn shop. As a matter of fact, I do not recommend using this pawn shop for anything.

But today, when I came back to sell a couple of gold jewelry items that I wanted to get rid of, I was greeted by a staff member who was very rude. I pulled out my gold jewelry that I was looking to sell and he asked me what I was looking to get for them. I told him I'm not sure yet because I didn't know how much they weighed, and I asked if he could weigh them before we started negotiating. I felt like this was a reasonable request because he would have to weigh them anyways in order to determine how much he was willing to offer me. Also, most people don't have a jewelry scale at home. He immediately accused me of just trying to use them for their scale, instead of actually wanting to do business with them, although I spent hundreds with them 3 days prior. After he reluctantly weighed them, I had to ask multiple times for him to give my jewelry back. I wanted to step aside so I could do some calculations, because a group of other customers walked in and it was a tight space. He yelled something like "Just wanted to use us for our scale huh!?" He also later said I didn't know anything about my jewelry and that he had to tell me everything. Meanwhile, the only thing I didn't know was the weight of my jewelry because I don't own a jewelry scale. But I did know my jewelry's karats, and how to do all the total value calculations myself. I'm not sure why he was so upset that a customer wanted to know the weight of their gold before negotiating with him. It seemed like he was hoping I was too clueless to know what price range to negotiate in. Although he was rude, I did my calculations anyways and told him what I was looking to get. He told me what his best offer was, and we didn't come to an agreement, which was fine. I just wish I wasn't treated like a waste of time or accused of trying to use them. He didn't even apologize once he realized I was serious about wanting to sell my gold to them. I won't be back, and I hope no other customers are treated rudely by him. A customer should never be treated like a burden.

The owner is an absolute piece of crap. I don't know how they stay in business... I see the clientele they have in that store, and just because they have to deal with a majority of not so great people, does not mean that they have the right to speak to a senior citizen with no respect or dignity... A small diamond on my wife's wedding band fell out after 2 years of owning it. Not a huge deal, it's whatever. We have had it for 2 years and it's small. Was willing to get it replaced. So she brought the ring in, and somebody took a look at it and said NOOO problem!!! we will replace the diamond for free, and we will ensure the setting isn't loose (turned out it was). So we got the ring back, and not even ONE WEEK LATER! the same diamond fell out while we were at a wedding overseas. One week. So my wife brought it back in to say wtf, you guys "fixed it" but then the same issue happened. You'd think we wouldn't have to pay for it, since they obviously didn't fix the setting. Turns out they want to charge us $100. Whatever. When my wife went to go back after another week of waiting for it to be fixed, they shut the door on her as they were closing and said sorry, everything's locked up. You're a mom and pop shop, not a chain jeweler. You'd think you'd put the customer first and just stay open another 5 minutes to help somebody else. Worst part of it all: the lady said "oh you should have called when it fell out! we probably would have replaced it for free" as she is swiping the credit card. WHAT?! We are telling you now!!! after THOUSANDS and thousands of dollars spent here, no way I am ever stepping foot in there again. For those reasons, I'm out.
