First time in awhile we have been here and it was like good old times. The food is excellent and the service is awesome. The people are friendly and the place is clean and convenient. I cannot speak more highly of this place. The owners at least Mrs. Teresa is as wonderful and helpful as they come. She always greets us with a smile, recommends delicious menu items and we cannot beat the food and price. The only complaint I've ever had is that they're not open later. I always crave their menu! Down homey kind of place, tried it on a whim. I'm glad I did. The service was good, the waitress was friendly and attentive, and the food was really good. Except the cornbread. The cornbread needs work, it was pretty tasteless, dry, and really dense and heavy. Night want to tweak the recipe on that one. But overall, it was good, I'd eat there again and would recommend them as a hometown mom and pop place. read more

Worst food ever. have tried a variety of items and unfortunately I just dont see why anybody eats here. For instance, BLT seems easy enough right? thinnest bacon ever, thinnest slice of tomato, and few shreds of lettuce on dry breas. tator tots were so overly deep friedthat nothing left inside. Prices are low, raise them and serve decent food please. i hate being so negative but have to eat here with a grouo and it never ceases to be an awful meal. The food was good, we just ordered club sandwiches and fries. My issue with this restaurant is that as we were paying, the server picked up my credit card and asked me if I needed a receipt, I said "no" but thought it was odd that she even asked, and then she asked me "Do you want to leave a tip?", I looked back and forth between her and my friend like "Is she serious?", then I told her yes I would and then she asked me "How much?". I'm sorry, what????????????? I did leave 20% because that is what I normally would leave but honestly I felt like leaving her nothing just for asking me. I am going to assume that this is something she is required to do by management but how TACKY and OFFENSIVE. Tipping culture has gotten out of control. It used to be based on "service provided" now it's just expected, but to top it off you have the effing gall to sit there and pressure your patrons into tipping???? Aww, hell no. I don't live around here, but even if I did I would never come here again. I like to support small businesses but I will not support being pressured to pay a tip, whether it was deserved or not. Since I returned to the Volkswagen dealership again today about 7:00 a.m., I didn't have time for much of anything. As they were still trying to figure out the problems, they put me in a loaner car and suggested this place for breakfast. I figured it must be good, as there were two other vehicles turning ahead of me to go into the place. They had a sign to let you know to seat yourself, thank you very much. A waiter brought a menu and asked what I wanted to drink. He seemed as though he was not quite ready, tentative. He returned soon with drinks for all those he asked, and took orders. I really wasn't sure what to order. Biscuits and Gravy almost always looks good but my allergy to cow's milk and the fact that I had a similar plate of cholesterol yesterday (at Hardee's) made me think about something else. I ended up with the Mexican omelet, but that came with some extra bits and I ordered Grits and a Biscuit and Gravy. Yeah, sense totally gone. A woman brought the food to the table fairly quickly. Not half of the tables were full, yet it was busy, and they were moving quickly to get the food to customers. She was rather perky--practically the opposite of the man who initially waited on me. The Omelet was a good balance between spice and taste. The Grits definitely needed butter, salt, and pepper. Shedd's Spread was okay. It didn't quite taste like I was back in Virginia, but it wasn't bad. The biscuit was good but the gravy was bland, unfortunately. read more

Have eaten there many times and I was very pleased with the food choices and taste. The service is always friendly, quick and with a smile. I discovered this family restaurant two months earlier and it has since become our family favorite dining place especially after church. Do not eat at this restaurant, they discriminate based on race. I have never been treated so poorly in any establishment. This morning, I stopped to get my Herbalife tea as usual. On the way to the department store, my husband decided he was hungry so he wanted to grab a bite to eat at Lewis as we were passing by. I was not hungry so I was only going to sit with him and finish my daily tea. Upon sitting, a waitress came to us and said, "I'm sorry no outside drinks are allowed." I explained that I just paid $12 for the drink and I wasn't going to eat, that I was only joining him. She left and shortly after another lady approached hastily and very rudely about my drink. I said, "It is fine, we can leave." All the while we were walking out, she was mouthing us while leaving.. I believe this was a case racial discrimination in worst case. We Order our food was 20 minutes before it got there , the place wasn't crowded at all, once they brought our food I ask for jelly , (3 different times) she came pass us at least 5 times finally we ate and left , never got drinks refill . Name of restaurant is very deceiving is says family in the name but it's not family friendly!!! Will not let a toddler eat something out of her diaper bag that we have for her since she 1 picky, 2 has lots of allergies to foods and it's safer to let her have what we know is safe. They must not have kids. We never had a problem with this at any restaurant EVER. We were going to order 2 meals and get her a drink. But they we're so rude to a toddler and said she could eat it outside. Really I'm going to make my toddler sit outside to eat. Not a kid friendly place at all! We will never go back ever. read more

My family and I went for a weekday lunch. Service was great & staff friendly. I got hamburger steak with mashed potatoes & orka. It was good but I didn't care for the orka. It just didn't have a good flavor, I think the grease it was fried in needed to be changed. My son-in-law got a burger with onion rings & the plate was huge. Lewis is a super cheap, greasy spoon spot that serves the best French toast you'll ever eat. It looks super rich and heavy, but is fluffy and light. They make their own bread that is reminiscent of a Challah-style eggy bread. At $3.98 for two huge slices, it's a steal. The rest of the menu is just so-so, but you have to get the French toast. This place is a joke. Their booths are old and ripped up. Need new chairs. No air conditioning during the hottest time of summer. I've tried this place several times always complaining about the under cooked pancakes. No mater how many times I told them about the pancakes with uncooked batter in the center, they did nothing to rectify the problem. I finally gave up on them. There is not a single place for breakfast in Fort Smith that I have found that I would give more than three stars.
