Consistently good food and service. We've been coming here for years since we have relatives that live a few miles away. We usually come here for special occasions and we've never been disappointed. First of all, it is unfair to compare this restaurant to any 'big city' swanky restaurant, so my review is based on the remote small town of Lewiston, where there isn't anything that I would consider 'gourmet' for miles... Pizza is very good. The fish is very good, especially since you can order it prepared multiple ways. Tonight, we enjoyed the Cod early bird special. We got two decent size pieces of cod, and our choice of fried, baked or Parmesan crusted. I got the Parmesan crusted, which was baked perfectly and topped with a nice crusty layer of Parm. Delicious! With the early bird dinner special, you also get a nice size salad, which was a little too much for me to finish. I enjoyed the balsamic vinaigrette dressing. My husband commented that he found the croutons to be tasty, he rarely eats croutons! Yes, eat the dinner rolls. They are hot, fresh and homemade...perfect with the side of walnut butter. Tummy rubbing good! The string beans served on the side were from a can. I only wish that small town restaurants would realize that they can get fresh vegetables from a farmer and not from a can! Otherwise, I guess the beans were decent considering... You get your choice of potato: red skins, mashed smothered with gravy or sweet potato. The mashed potatoes with gravy definitely was comfort food! We split two orders of the strawberry shortcake, which was more than enough for four people. I think that the whipped cream was homemade, not out of a can or that processed Cool Whip stuff. The strawberries and shortcake were the mass-produced stuff, but edible and not deathly sweet. The shortcake was really a buttery pound cake. The service was good, the food was delivered quickly and hot and the views of the lake were wonderful. A pleasant time was had by all of us. read more

Okay, so the decor is what I like to call my grandma's hunting lodge.... Kinda disjointedly decorative and a bit flowery mixed with a fair amount of wood and stuffed animals.... All on a very nice lake view. The prices for northern MI are fair and the quality is definitely above average for the area - but Lewiston has a handful of good restaurants! The waitress was not so great with cocktails or automatic water refills but she was very friendly. The maple walnut roll butter is really good but our rolls were half stale.... The chicken marsala dinner with cauliflower cheese soup was great tasting (the marsala sauce had separated which makes me question if they make it in house) and the same goes for the relatively mild country style pork chops with a michigan salad. All in all - I would definitely go back and try more items and I would recommend you try it while in the area too! read more

Now with this review you need to remember that there aren't many options for eating in Lewiston. With that in mind, the menu consists mostly of greasy bar food. But, a group of 7 of us enjoyed it so much we came here 2 nights in a row. I got the chicken Caesar salad the first night and that was really good. The chicken was very tasty and the lettuce was very fresh. I probably should have gotten the dressing on the side because it was a bit much for me. The second night I got chicken quesadillas and they were very tasty. The restaurant has different specials every night where they add different foods to the menu. Monday is Mexican day and even though I was there on a Saturday they let me get the Mexican option. So the wait staff are very nice and great service. The chef was very accommodating. Others in my group got the fish and chips special on Friday , steak dinner special on Saturday, steak sandwich, coneys, regular salad, stuffed green pepper soup, fried macaroni and cheese and a chicken sandwich. Do not go here if you have a nut allergy or if you are expecting good customer service. I had a bad experience recently where I had an allergic reaction to the butter they use for their dinner rolls as they add walnuts to the butter. They did not inform me and there was not anything i could easily find on the menu. One of my friends was nice enough to go out and get me some Benadryl before the reaction could get worse. Because of the reaction I did not touch any of the food that I ordered and felt that I should get some sort of compensation for all of the trouble caused by the negligence of the restaurant. I was met with rudeness from the waitress and the owner of the restaurant. I offered to pay for my beer but felt I should not have to pay full price for food I would have to reheat. The owner said that it is my fault for not disclosing my allergy before ordering. Although I do see her point, I have never had to disclose my allergy to the hundreds of restaurants I have eaten at across the country, and surly I did not deserve the attitude and rudeness from both the waitress and especially the owner. Usually if I am looking to order something that could have tree nuts, I will ask, but did not feel the need to for an Italian club sandwich. I was there with 13 other people who were all spending money there and have been every year for the last 6 years. The owner ripped the receipt from my hand, crumpled it and told me never to come back. I can tell you that WE never will! read more

this is really a great restaurant, been going there for years, and have never had a bad meal, the food is wonderful, prices are reasonable, the staff always tries their best, and the place is very clean, lovely view to. I only wish they were open longer on Monday and Tuesday for dinner, as often that's when we are there at our place in Lewiston. Staffing is challenging though so there's not much you can do. We are new to the Lodge and what a fabulous place it is. We went on Saturday the 14th of September. Very busy. It was well worth the wait. I had the special which was Prime Rib. As a couple of other reviewers have mentioned, the pre-dinner rolls with maple walnut butter are outstanding! I avoid carbs pretty strictly, and I couldn't help but eat a roll both times that I've come here. The chicken marsala manages to be succulent and savory (a trick I've never been able to accomplish with chicken breast), and the mushrooms are not overdone, with that fabulous al-dente texture that comes from pan searing properly. Many places use cooking wine for marsala, but this was not overly-salty, which makes me think they used real wine. The Montreal seasoned steak is a MUST if you enjoy red meat. I don't know what combo they season the steak with, but it's like a flavor-bomb in your mouth. Also, the steak is cooked to perfection (I like medium rare steak, and hubs likes rare--its so sad if you get a steak overcooked, and that is NOT an issue here!) The salads and side vegetables are OK, but the service is even more impressive than the well-executed main dishes. The entire staff is friendly and attentive, the service prompt but not rushed. We will go out of our way to come back to this restaurant next time we are in town. SEASONAL NOTE: If you're in town around Christmas time, you have to stop in here if only to see the decorations. My family and I heard about this place through a family friend so we decided to give it a shot. We drove over an hour we arrived and the manager Christy was the hostess she made it clear what her position was what for we didn't understand. She told us it would be a 30 min wait. So we waited and we asked her if we could get a drink at the bar while we waited and her response was I don't care if you can find room at the bar. So we proceeded to the bar where the bar tender was talking with a group of guy's and didn't acknowledge us for 10 mins when we finally gave her our drink order I handed her the cash and she rudely threw it on the bar and walked away and proceeded to go back to her conversation with these gentleman and another waitress. After an hour we finally got seated we asked if we could get a view of the water and the other hostess replied your getting a available table which was with a beautiful view. Our waitress was right behind the hostess and introduced herself Stephanie was her name,she was very friendly and smiley which at this point was nice she proceeded to let us know menu features and recommended they're popular dishes which she was definitely right my wife ordered the parm cod and I ordered seafood Alfredo both dishes were delicious she was very attentive to us as she had other tables next to us she was very welcoming towards everyone. It's sad that a few bad employees that obviously don't belong in the service industry can ruin a business and then you meet a bubbly friendly person like our waitress that makes your dining experience so much better. The view alone is worth the drive from Gaylord or any surrounding area. We ordered a variety and spilt everything between my parents and I. Michigan Salad- honestly, the best salad I have ever had. However, the dressing was what made it that way. The rest was fine, but the meat they put on it was sliced and clearly from a deli. I didn't mind, but I usually like warm meat. So if you prefer warm meat with a salad or not deli sliced meat, maybe order with out it. It's delicious! Cheese bread- very good. A little greasy for my liking, but the crust is delicious, which probably means the pizza is good, but we didn't get to try their pizza. Rolls w/ butter- yum! Reminds me of Texas Roadhouse. So good! Make sure you get one while the roll is still warm! Tomato bisque- good. Nice and creamy. Would order again as part of a meal, but wouldn't order separately. Ribs- delicious! Slide off the bone good. Definitely some of the best I've had and BBQ in Texas is pretty competitive. Baked Mac and Cheese- good, but not super impressive. It was nice and creamy, but not cheesy enough for me. They melt a whole bunch on the top, which is good and nice and crunchy. Wish I could have gotten that more through out the dish and not just on top. Grinder, club- this is why we came here as my dad had heard it was the best. It was delicious, just a lot of bread on the end and it was kind of hard. We would order again, just wasn't what I was expecting. Green beans- just the side veggie of the day. They were very good, both my mom and dad complimented them and I was impressed. They were squishy which was nice. The best part is the amount of food you get for the price. We spent about $60 and my parents have leftover meals for a couple days. Father in law and I went there on Thursday June 1st and was good. Took wife back on June 2 and 3 hours later after having the Olive Burger was throwing up like crazy. She had to miss her Neices graduation that we drove over 500 miles to attend. Then by 10 pm we had to drive 30 miles to the Nearest ER and have her hooked up on an IV to stop the vomiting. The olive burger was the only thing she had eaten all day. Broke her heart to come that far to be knocked out by an outdated burger. Will never recommend this place. Sorry. I can't say enough about what a nice place this is. I travel back to Lewiston for a week each year in the Fall and I always stay at the Lewiston Lodge. The rooms are comfortable, very affordable, and quiet. The Lodge Restaurant is quite good and the staff is extremely friendly. I highly recommend the pizzas and the Baked Spaghetti (fantastic). My family and I had a great dinner at Lewiston Lodge. The rolls were good, the sweet butter they served it with was delicious. I had the Saturday night special (Prime rib) was amazing! It was a thick cut tender piece of beef. My wife had the Parmesan crusted fish. She said it well seasoned, not too acidic. My son (12 year old) had the lobster macaroni and cheese. For the price and location this place is wonderful!! There are only 14 rooms but they are clean, remodeled, and have coffee makers and mini-fridges. We travel about 45 minutes when I come up north just for the food! The rolls and maple butter are to die for, so delicious. Always upgrade to the Michigan salad because of the maple dressing. I usually go for either the parmesan baked fish or bbq ribs. During Halloween and Christmas season, the entire restaurant is decorated and looks beautiful, I make a special trip up north during these times and look forward to going there.
