My hubby and I had dinner at Lex Yard at the Waldorf-Astoria for the first time on Christmas Day. We had a great table on the second floor by a window. The room was elegant and spacious, with soft, ambient lighting. The menu was a four course Christmas menu that was a beautiful culinary journey of flavors. For our first course, we had the beet and chickory salad, with almonds, capers, raisins, and yogurt, and I had the king crab, daikon, burdock, carrots, and yuzu, which was topped with caviar. The other ingredients of the plate brought out the sweetness and freshness of the crab, and savory flavor of the caviar provided a lovely and delicate balance. For the second course, we had smoked gnocchi, white truffles fonduta, Swiss chard, and salisify; and I had seared sea scallops, cauliflower, Mandarin sauce, and caviar. The scallops were buttery and sat on a cream base, and sweetness of the Mandarian sauce and touches of caviar created a nice, full flavor pallette. For the third course, the restaurant offered an option to substitute the given options with a ribeye for two, which we chose. Our server was so attentive to our needs: I highlighted that my hubby needed the ribeye to be cooked well so that there was no red, and he intuitively had the chef only prepare half the ribeye that way and the other half medium, so that I could enjoy. All pieces of the ribeye were tender and flavorful, and the house and bordelaise sauces further enhanced the flavors of the meat. The final course was the dessert (they provided two): (1) guanaja buche de noel, raspberry jam, with whipped dark chocolate ganache; and (2) cranberry orange buche de noel, vanilla roulade, cranberry orange compote, with white chocolate cream. These desserts were a delightful completion of our meal. The jams were the stars of the show for each dessert, being the central flavor bursting through each. That said, the dark chocolate ganache was probably both of our favorite of the two, with a rich, sultry sweetness that complimented the jam. With dinner, we had a lovely, California Sauvignon Blanc that was light but fruity. The staff at Lex Yard was gracious, welcoming, and attentive, from the moment we entered, to coat check, and our wonderful server Kevin who handled us with care, we felt like we made the best choice for our Christmas experience. One and done, never again. A disgrace to the Waldorf Astoria brand. First off upon entering the decor gives off a high end cafeteria vibe. Maybe it's just me but the restaurant does not befit a Waldorf Astoria experience. As we were there for lunch we ordered what was the smallest yet most expensive lobster roll I've ever seen ($58...yes that's not a misprint) Completely underwhelming. It had a dollop of caviar on top which was nice but literally only a dollop of lobster. A better name for the sandwich would be just "roll" and chicken salad. Flavor was nothing more than okay. Then the service...we ordered Grey Goose martinis which they said they ran out of so we defaulted to Belvedere. As our martinis were just placed in front of us in strolls a different bartender carrying bottles of Grey Goose. You think you'd go check your stock before saying you're out of something. NOW the fun part... the bill arrives, it's $206 ? Now you ask how could that happen? Well the martinis were rung up at $48 each! Upon mentioning to our bartender (who was sweet and the only reason I give them 1/2 star) they apologized and said we will remove the martins from the bill. Now that's what you would expect from a Waldorf. But they didn't remove them. The manager comes over says they rang up the wrong vodka and the martins were changed to $34 after being told they were comping them. Needless to say we left hungry, frustrated and disappointed. First time at the Lex Yard. The property has a beautiful lobby area when you go through the hotel. Today, I had the burger which came with a side of fries. Fairly lowkey spot on a Monday night with not too many people. Service was very fast and friendly. You get complimentary butter and bread. Really good burger but the fries felt a bit lacking from a flavor/crunch perspective. Burger was about $38 which is a bit on the expensive end hence the 4/5 for value. read more

Regardless it's a great place to meet friends or colleagues that allows you to have an actual conversation while enjoying a good meal. A1 service ! came earlier for drinks at the bar while I waited for dinner service to start at 5pm. The cosmo Collin is so good! You must try! When we got seated our server Natasha was sooo delightful, knowledgeable of the menu and great suggestions. We loved everything, she was so attentive and always kept our drinks filled up. I recently had lunch at the luxurious Lex Yard located at the historical Waldorf Astoria. It felt like the type of place to just dress up for yourself and dine out with friends while admiring the decor that felt like a time capsule with a modern twist alongside a menu that offers the Iconic Waldorf Salad. The lunch menu offered an array of dishes in one page that didn't overwhelm in the selection process. I ordered the Mushroom Tagliatelle which was the right balance of creaminess and black pepper. My advice would be to slightly mix around the pasta since some bites were heavy on the black pepper for my taste buds. My friend ordered the New Waldorf Salad (yes, that's how it is retitled on the menu) and it was refreshing from the dressing and crisp with apples especially on a Summer's day in NYC. We both ordered Flat White as our dessert. The first batch alongside her salad was perfection however, when we ordered it again, it was a bit lackluster in presentation and taste. Our waiter was kind of enough to make it again and express he put in the effort in making it perfect with foam and extra strength on the espresso. It is a bit on the pricey side when it comes to lunch experience but I do need to remind you that this is Lex Yard located at Waldorf Astoria. So make it extra special when you do go as a solo date, get together with friends, or special occasion with someone. The shrimp cocktail was so delish, very cold & fresh, great size for the price as well!! The basildon park cocktail was so yummy & a great flavor combination. What a gorgeous spot for a late-night glass of wine and a bite right in the neighborhood. Tucked inside the iconic Waldorf Astoria, this intimate ground-floor bar serves excellent cocktails with equally stellar service. We stopped in close to 11 PM, just as they were winding down, but Sergio and Ken welcomed us with no rush--serving up drinks, snacks, and great conversation. Ate breakfast at Lex Yard. I ordered pancakes and a smoothie. I received one pancake that was large and dense, so not traditional pancakes. After I received my order, I overheard another server explaining that to a group of diners that were just sat. I wish my waiter would have informed me before I ordered. Midtown Manhattan in the summer with the US Open in town is the best vibe, and that all it takes is one Foo to mess things up. I am that Foo. Lex Yard has become one of our absolute favorite spots in the city. We always ask for Yulia, she's exceptional and makes every visit feel special. The butternut squash soup was fresh and delicious, and the burger is our go‑to every time. I skip the bun and cheese, so the meat has to stand on its own and it always does. PR hype is one thing, but serving a good meal is a challenge and this restaurant is simply a well-hyped loser, not deserving to be part of the esteemed Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Tiny portions of tasteless fish and short ribs smothered in an awful layer of unpleasant spices. And, it will cost you. The Waldorf is so back! Lex Yard, located on the Lexington Ave. side of the hotel is a beautiful space. There are two floors with the bar being on the ground level. The staff were friendly, helpful, & attentive. Food excellent! We met the Chef Michael Anthony, a real gentleman. Highly recommended! The entire hotel is gorgeous down to the smallest detail. The restaurant is absolutely stunning and the Waldorf Astoria is back in full swing! I highly recommend stopping in and opting to go upstairs to have access to the Market Menu.
