It was a lovely dining experience at Casa Lever, a classic fine Italian restaurant in midtown NYC. The moment I walked in, i felt taken care of, because the chef/ staff were kind enough to walk me through the menu, make proactive recommendations and giving details about where the ingredients are from as well. Speaking of ingredients, I think the new executive chef really pays attention to "less is more" but care more about fresh ingredients. The fish, tomato, cheese etc. everything felt very seasonally fresh and even the pasta noodle was cooked to its perfection. And desserts, my goodness- I was so full that I couldnt finish my steak but I killed housemade tiramisu and a very very soft cheesecake. These are the must try no matter how full you are. Casa Lever may be my favorite expression of Park Avenue: architecturally serious, commercially consequential, and somehow much more playful than the traditional power lunch establishment. Lever House itself is one of my favorite classic buildings in New York, a 1952 modernist landmark whose glass-and-steel design still looks almost impossibly sharp against this stretch of Midtown. For my money, the design relative to the location is unbeatable if you prefer great twentieth-century architecture to new construction. Park Avenue from the high 40s through the upper 50s is the highest velocity investment corridor in the world: information, fundraising, and transactions all moving through an extraordinarily dense piece of Manhattan. Third Point once headquartered here before moving to Hudson Yards, which I always thought was incredibly cool and a particularly fitting choice for Dan Loeb. I've experienced Casa Lever on several different occasions, including meeting a friend outside for a beer after work and, on another visit, having lunch inside. Inside, everything feels considered, from the curved architecture and sculptural ceiling to the wonderfully restrained Casa Lever typography. The Warhol portraits were the masterstroke when I knew the restaurant: Giorgio Armani, the Shah of Iran, Farah Pahlavi, Aretha Franklin, and Dennis Hopper were among the faces looking out over the dining area. There is something deliciously apt about dining beneath that Warhol pantheon on Park Avenue, where financiers, media titans, and dynastic fortunes have long crossed paths with the people shaping fashion, advertising, and culture. Later, on a completely separate occasion, I returned for dinner with a larger group and remember sitting around a big round table near the banquettes. Across lunch, dinner, and drinks, what stayed with me was how polished the service was and how effortlessly chic the whole experience felt. There is a more creative, feminine energy here than at many of Midtown's harder-edged power restaurants, sophisticated without becoming stiff and glamorous without feeling theatrical. The prices are pure Park Avenue, but so is the proposition: extraordinary architecture, extraordinary geography, and one of the coolest places in New York to bring someone when you want the city itself to participate in the evening. Casa Lever feels timeless because it never seems to chase relevance; the building, the design, and the people passing through already provide enough electricity. Few establishments capture this particular intersection of commerce, taste, history, and social theater quite as well. read more

We tried Casa Lever for the first time during restaurant week, which was an amazing deal $ ($60) for such good food and service. The service was impeccable! Our servers even told us about the history of the building (being the first glass building in NYC) and constantly refill our bread and asked us about our food. I love the fluke which goes well with the toasted peaches and the sauce. The skate was also perfectly cooked, and not fishy at all! Both the hazelnut dessert and the tiramisu are amazing. The hazelnut is on the sweet side so I would recommend getting coffee with it. Overall a very great experience and a beautiful restaurant! read more

**This review is only for drinks** I met a friend for happy hour on a weekday evening and was surprised she was able to snag an outdoor table given the lovely weather (still almost 80 degrees!) and the crowd. At around 5p, it was quite busy and would likely be a challenge to get a table (again, not sure how she got one!). The drinks and wine list is curated (meaning: small but thoughtful), and I had a lovely Sancerre. The drinks aren't cheap but at least they come with bar snacks (olives and nuts). This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere to it. The bar is beautiful and has many different options. I have been here a few times just recently last night for a Birthday! As you can see from my pictures the food is absolutely delicious, presentation is wonderful and the service was great! One can say many things in favor of Casa Lever: great location, nice ambience, good drinks and wine selection, excellent and personable service, and good food. However, that location adds a premium to the price point and I would not recommend Casa Lever if value is what a person is seeking or to the casual tourist. This is a restaurant catering to the banking, legal, and financial crowd nearby, the power luncher and diner. I went there with a friend from college and we very much enjoyed the time and meal there. The drinks were made very well and to our liking. The caprese salad was fresh in every respect, truly delicious. The shrimp special over orzo was good, especially the preparation of the orzo, but power diners would not flinch over the presentation of only a few shrimp. The same goes for the Bolognese, veal sauce over fettuccine. The cooks are paying close attention to the cooking times to achieve the desired al dente. The grated cheese gave it the pop. The well appointed space, lighting and music, artwork, and precise place settings are among the details you will find at Casa Lever. Casa Lever is a place to unwind and enjoy good Italian food with excellent service. There are places up on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx that put Casa Lever in the rearview mirror at half the price with far greater authenticity, but they are up in the Bronx and real estate on this part of Park Avenue is many times greater than that authenticity on Arthur Avenue. In the end, that is what you are paying for at Casa Lever and the bankers and attorneys who power lunch and dine are able to expense or pay it without blinking and so should you if you dine here. Power lunch restaurants place a premium on the location near the offices and excellent unobtrusive service of food that is acceptable and appealing to the palate often focused on business and hosting of clients in an appropriate setting, but not necessarily on the food and certainly not on its value proposition. Went to Casa Lever last night on a date. The Maitre De / Mgr was very professional and accommodated our request to sit inside. The waiter came over quickly, welcomed us and took our drink order. when the drinks came out he asked if we wanted to chat and enjoy the drink before ordering dinner (nice touch!). The food was amazing; the service was the best I have had in NY. Even the guy by the bathroom was impressive! The lady serving the bread was impressive! I've been twice as a walk in and each time was treated like utter garbage. They're not happy to see you, they act like you're putting them out. They argue about a table. Sit at the bar? After multiple recommendations, finally headed to Casa Lever for dinner. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and feels very deco. It's not overly packed and there is a combo of tables and booths. There's also a lovely bar that I definitely will be returning to. Cocktails were delicious and the prawns appetizer with the spicy sauce reduction was *chefs kiss*. Known for their pasta and red sauce, we ordered the Bolognese and the Dover sole with truffles was delicious (though the lovely, well-intentioned waiter who de-boned it did a sub-par job and I would have preferred to do it myself). We enjoyed one of the loveliest of evenings last night.... On a beautiful Friday evening we sat in the courtyard, which is set up in such a pleasing manner. The service was spot on pleasant and helpful. Each and every dish was creative and flavorful and the presentation was stunning. The decor here is very modern chic. It was a packed casa when we arrived. They have specialty drinks -so do try them if you like cocktails. I had sword fish and it was average. The polenta with fungi was delicious ( sorry-- no pic). Gelatos were quite tasty- mocha was my favorite out of the selection I had. Very "new yorker" restaurant with sophisticated and magical atmosphere: one fells like in a spaceship or futurist movie from the 60s. Service is spotelles and wine list superbe. We had Bellinis and a bottle of delicious Sardinian red. Those are, for me,the high points of the place, worth the price and other visits. Food was good, but not extraordinary and somehow a bit deceiving. I ordered for appetizer, a "crudo di pesce" , very delicate dish with olive oil and parsley, a bit bland but good. My main was a tradicional Vermicelli with Bottarga, one of my favorite dishes. I was really looking forward to that. Their version was tasty, well cooked but, with so little Bottarga, I felt disappointed. My husband had baccala with baby Yukon potatoes. Very well cooked and simply seasoned, much better choice than mine. No complains about the gelatti, best one, pistachio. The TIRAMISU is good, but there are better ones in NYC. Again,for me, it was special to see the work of Damien Hirst, the British artist, also a restauranteur ( Pharmacy in London) on the walls, his hypnotic dots and the beautiful butterflies. read more

Are you an architectural junky and into great Italian food? Go to Casa Lever. This restaurant is located in Lever House, a glass curtain-wall structure that was a design revelation when built. You know all the glass box skyscrapers that you see everywhere? Most are modeled after this building. Pretty cool stuff. The restaurant design itself is a capsule of 1950's modern architecture. It is really cool, IMO. That said, the decor is 2013 modern, so it is not dusty, dumpy and run down. The 1950's modern and the 2013 are integrated perfectly. The restaurant seems to be entirely staffed by Italians. I seemed to get better service once I started barking out orders in Italian, but that is not to say the service was not good. I ordered the pasta bolognese. It was excellent. The portion size was perfect for dinner - not a stupid small plate and not a monstrous "family style" bucket of pasta. I joked earlier about yelling at people in Italian, but the service was actually very good. It is not super expensive, but it is definitely a place that you could impress clients or a date. read more

I don't normally like Midtown restaurant's but I will make an exception for Casa Lever. My gf had a sales meeting nearby and suggested that we have an early dinner. It was a warm evening and we took advantage of outdoor seating. Park Avenue was quieter than usual, but the scene was buzzing at Casa Lever. Casa Lever attracts a very hip crowd, it is not unusual to see high end media types, and A list celebrities dining there. The only celebrities that I'm interested in are my gf and the chef. Our meal was rather tasty. The Artichoke appetizer was very excellent, and the Carpaccio of Beef was equally good. We shared Veal Osso Buco, and it was tender and delicious. We had two types gelato for dessert, and both were yummy. We will return when the weather gets warmer. read more

This has become one of my TOP Favorite Italian Restaurants ever! The decor and design of the restaurant itself is so stylish and gorgeous inside it entices you. After entering you go down an artistic walkway and are greeted by the very friendly and accomodating Antonio.The pastas are homeade and incredibly delicious. It was also weird when we sat down and I assumed it was the owner or GM bc he was wearing a suit was asking us why we came in and how we had heard about it and was like interrogating us before even had our water glasses filled. It was an odd experience. Then the food was just MEH. Like I get that its's restaurant week but the food was nothing special. The bolognese was bland and most of the pasta dishes, except for 1, the pasta was definitely not made freshly. Stopped in for an early dinner, or very late lunch. They greeted us very effusively, and made us feel welcome.My wife asked the sommelier for a light red wine. He was spot on with hIs selection. I had the prosciutto as an app, and veal Milanese as a main. Veal was as good as I have ever has it, light, thin, not overly breaded. My wife has a artichoke salad and a pasta with wild mushrooms. Both were well prepared, and nicely plated. I do not do food photos, unless it is something I cooked at home. A bit pricey, but consider the location. Also I ordered an odd single malt whisky, which they had, however for the price, the pour was a bit light. Would I return, yes but maybe in a few months. We were early for dinner menu, but the maitre, offered to bring it, but we found adequate offerings on the lunch menu. The staff could not be more accommodating. read more

It took me a while to find this place and even to figure out how to get in. Being from out of town, it was no simple task! Once inside I was amazed by the simply elegant, yet vibrantly adorned location. The artwork on the walls speaks for itself. This is a must see all on its own. The staff was very attentive despite the fact that I was alone and having lunch at the bar. Lunch was delicious! I had a salmon tartare, which was the best I have ever had.
