The view was awesome but no shading when it's so hot out. Nice area for picnics with the kids though. We saw allot of trash and cigarette on ground.

Two seating areas. Each area has 8 tables.

I love this park. The playground is large, sturdy and diverse for both a little kid area and a big kid area. It has wood chips for ground covering, for easy landing and cleans off the kiddos easily. Also there's a volleyball area but I rarely see anyone using it. Across the street is a mini skate park with ramps and such that are really cool. The restrooms have pretty murals on them and clean and well stocked. There is also a well covered patio area that is pretty large with barbecues, they are usually empty though you'll occasionally see a family having a birthday party. I come here quite often to feed the ducks. There is a ton them around fall then I guess they migrate, and it seems like there's less other seasons, I'm not sure how that all works, lol! Also there's turtles and fish in the lake. Some of the turtles end up on the land which is fun to see them, though I think I saw someone take one home once... :/ I wouldn't recommend coming at night (at this park or any park for that matter) I've heard of the tragic gang related murders that happened in 2011 and 2013, but on a positive note they have done things such as chop down trees that were concealing areas and installed new light poles and also some cosmetics with new paved streets, 3 pretty water fountains in the lake, etc.. I haven't ever felt scared here or seen any "gangs". And I do see the police patrol regularly. Occasionally I will see someone with liquor walking around who is intoxicated, and alcohol is prohibited but police usually get called and I think person is asked to leave. The park itself is pretty clean. I have never seen the trash overflowing. Though I have seen garbage that is thrown on the ground and sometimes ends up on the lake. Some people even fish in the lake but it's just for fun and throw fish back.

I live in the area so i know about this park and the violence in the past. I take my daughter to the playground during the day time and i walk my dog. It sucks that i still get scared being around here, but i live across the street and it's a beautiful park to walk. I just don't stay late! It can get sketchy during the night.

    Beautiful in the afternoon

Ask the Community - Libby Lake Park

Given the fact that I'm not Hispanic, is it unsafe for me to visit here with my kid during the daytime? A lot of people seem to think you'll be mugged at any time.

Not any safer for hispanic people. Gang bangers aren't motivated by race, they're not white supremacists.

The thing I use at the park is the paved walking path that goes around the small lake.

The camp spots are all quite close to each other with not much privacy, but that wasn't a problem for me. If you plan on pitching a tent, I really hope you have mats (like we did) because the ground is (as you can see) plain dry ground. The park itself seems really great for biking and just walking around. They have long and short trails with lots of nature to look at. The lakes themselves are not too big, but I did see people fishing. There are many benches throughout the trails. There were also many trees that gave me many options for putting my eno up! Amenities: - 50¢ for 4 min showers - the bathroom is only for campers and it was SO clean. The shower was really warm and i actually felt clean after using it lol

That's the Western half that is more like the park. The Eastern half has walking trails that are more like a nature preserve. Some reviewers commented about how the trails are unkempt, and that's mostly true on the Eastern side and the Nature Trail. It wasn't too bothersome, as most of the trails were wide enough. The annoying part, though, is that there's a lot of dry, dead weeds/plants that carpet the trails with little splinters, which inevitably get into my shoes and jab me. Other than that, it's an easy, flat-ish 4 miles of walking. Lots of birds by the lake. Parking is paid in the lot, but there's also free parking along the street.

I could just see my kids getting bored...and then saying..."Are we going home? I'm bored!". Well, Rancho Del Oro solved that problem...how?! Let me tell you! They have a nice area cornered off for kids! No really, it's true! It's right by the tennis courts. So, parents, take note...get there early, and set up right before the ground slopes downward. Kids can play and be within sight at all times. A group of hula hoop dancers brought out tons of hula hoops after their performance for the kids to play with. There were gymnastic mats too. I really couldn't believe how content my kids were. Two opening acts, and the the main act came out. The Mar Dels were the big performers tonight. I've wanted to see them forever...and they didn't disappoint. Tons of cover songs from the 1950-1970's, and a nice sized danced floor right infront of the stage. People were thoroughly enjoying their Friday night....and was this girl! My kids played while my friend and I ate pizza, brownies, and drank beer. Family friendly, dog friendly, great venue...I'll be back!

I had picnics took walks both days. I stayed to watch the sunset on Saturday And opted for a different location to view the sunset on Sunday. This is a great park for people watching. I saw people walking , walking their dog, jogging, flying kites, reading under a tree, scrolling social media, picnicing, Bbqing, playing basketball, playing on swings and play structutes, working on their vehicles, organizing thier vans, riding bicycles of every description laying or sitting in the sun or shade and taking pictures and selfies, and one old veteran playing his guitar- that was me. I was hopping some friendly person would stop by so I could ask them to take a picture, but that didn't happen. This beautiful park sits on a hilltop and offers a panoramic view of the neighborhood, and a somewhat different sunset experience over your typical ocean view. The park has paved walking paths, basket ball courts, a volleyball court, lawns suitable for any number of sports a clean restroom and a fairy large parking area, I highly recommend this park. It was a highlights of my Spontaneous weekend roadtrip.
