I had hired them for bar service for my son's Bar Mitzvah based on some solid recommendations, but 3 weeks before the event the person/company I had hired for event management and everything else but the food bailed on me. Mixed feelings, but overall happy. First off, Joe was very easy to work with and allowed me to customize everything to ensure my 1920s party was a hit (including 1920s themed specialty cocktails and I know muddling mint is a pain so thank you very much for the mint juleps). The price for everything was very good in comparison to other liquor catering companies I had spoken to, and they did the champagne tower perfectly and everyone loved it. They were also able to rework the drink count and do an additional liquor run because my ticket takers had accidentally given two drink tickets to every guest instead of just the purchasers (which was supposed to be the plan), and I really appreciated and didn't mind paying the extra amount that came with that for a mistake on my end. This was my first time doing an event this big so their help was crucial. Most of the bartenders, including Joe, were very friendly and I enjoyed working with them. However, as an event coordinator, I'm responsible for all vendors and entertainment and they did end up putting me in two awkward situations I had to smoothe over. My event was for New Year's Eve, and it didn't really bother me that the bartenders had a few drinks here and there (and in California it is legal) because they had to work on a holiday, but at the end of the night it was apparent that Joe and another one of the bartenders were very very drunk. One of my performers, a magician, had also gotten pretty drunk himself and left his bag of magic props on the bar, and I'm not sure if the bartenders thought it would just be a funny prank, or if they didn't like the magician (he did have a bit of an LA personality), ended up hiding his magic bag behind the bar. After a bit of searching and the magician asking if they had accidentally thrown it away or put it somewhere (to which they responded pretty rudely to) my mom ended up finding the bag behind their bottles. They didn't really have a response. After that was solved, the shuttle driver (who worked for the owner of the venue) asked if they needed help, and I'm not entirely sure of what happened after that, but the shuttle driver informed me he was told to "fuck off" by one of the drunk bartenders. Now, I don't think Libby's is entirely at fault because the shuttle driver was also being aggressive (another review entirely) and definitely not helping to deescalate the situation. My team and I were able to quickly help the bar team pack up because both Joe and the driver, were getting into an argument and threats to call the police, and threats to fight were being made by the driver and Joe and so on and so forth. I think that these situations could have been avoided though if the bartenders and Joe had remained sober, or at least not super drunk. And again, I don't hold any ill will against Libby's Beverage Catering and think that overall they did a good job and really helped my event be successful, but I just want to provide an honest review from my point of view for people considering them. But all in all, everything worked out. It isn't a good party without a little behind-the-scenes-drama after all! read more

Joe Libby and his little sham of a drink catering business is a JOKE. Went to a event at the auto museum in El Segundo for GAP (Gang Awareness Program) in which my uncle was being honored, which was a beautiful event through and through.. except for a little problem I had with Mr. Libby himself. So I went to the bar and got a modelo for myself, a glass of wine for my wife, 3 sodas for some people at my table and a couple of waters. I gave him my ID and my credit card to leave the tab open in case I wanted another water or beer. That was my first mistake. I ended up not returning for any other alcoholic beverages the rest of the night, or water and soda. It wasn't really the type of event to do that. I just like to have a beer with my meal. So at the end of the night I approached the bar and asked to close out my tab. Joe Libby told me my tab was 52 dollars!! I was confused at first, thinking that people at my table might have gone up and got more waters and sodas ( none of my family that I was in attendance with drink alcohol so I knew it wasn't beer and wine). I signed the thing and put 15 percent gratuity so it came out to 58 dollars. I returned to my seat a little bothered and took a look around at the table and the table next to me and there was no left over soda, water or alcohol trash. So I went back to the bar to ask Joe how my tab could have been so much. I asked the prices of all the items and he told me a beer was $6, wine was $6, soda was 2 and water was 2 as well. My tab should have been 22 dollars and it was 52!! I told him he must have given me someone else's tab on accident and explained what drinks I got in the beginning of the night. He told me that I was with a group of people and told him to put all of their Coronas on my tab tab and that I was drunk. Mind you I'm a 300 lb. man who only drank one Modelo all night and I have a proclivity to drink IPA's and Double IPA's ( a beer that is higher in ABV ranging from 6.5 % to 10 %). So Joe Libby was lying through his teeth. I asked him to point out the people that I was with and told him they could drink on my tab all night and he got really defensive. To be honest I think he was drinking all night behind the bar and putting his drinks on my tab. I used to be a bouncer and bar back at a bar in my college years and have known bar tenders to do this. He was slurring his words and not being very professional whatsoever ever. I had to embarrassingly ask my family members at my table if they were drinking Coronas all night and putting it in my tab. Mind you how dumb I had to feel to ask my family who doesn't drink that question. At that point my uncle got involved and asked Joe Libby what the problem was. After about 15 minutes of argument he threw 20 dollars in my uncles face and said we obviously needed the money more than him. He was still 16 dollars short of what we were owed back so my uncle didn't touch the 20. He wanted to see his business license and get the guys information. At this point his other bar tender that was working the bar muttered under his breath "Suck my Dick" as he was carrying supplies out to their shed or car. To be honest it was a very slow night for them and they did not need more than 1 bartender to work a charity event. This wasn't a wedding or bar mitzvah where people are slamming them back. I think they were bored and decided to drink all night to make it interesting. After how rude these guys were and saying "suck my dick" to 2 very large men, they were lucky we were patient, cool, calm and collected with them. After about 20 minutes of us asking for their info they finally gave me the 36 dollars back, and even had the audacity to ask if I wanted my 15 % tip back. Do u think!? I think these guys are scam artists and have done this before, hence only having one review on their yelp. They probably had a different name and had to change it from the many negative reviews they received because of their shady tactics. Absolutely disgusting and appalling. read more

Had a last minute event that needed a good caterer.... I found this company online and they far exceeded my expectations. Great Service and definitely fit into my limited budget.
