Beautiful restaurant! Food was pretty good, seasoned minimally which is better than overly salty.

We have been here twice before or after attending concerts or races. The food and service were decent, and we have tried a few things. The clay pot crispy fire shrimp were delicious. The Liberty Chopped Loaded Bowl was interesting, I can't believe we even ordered that! It has vegetables, rotisserie chicken, salami, bacon, red wine vinaigrette, egg, roasted pepper, and provolone cheese. What a weirdly delicious combination.

What an interesting spot, Liberty Bell Gastropub. The number of odd interactions I saw at the bar here at 7pm were numerous including a patron that was insanely angry that she could not order take out as it was a day that a show was being had at Parx and was informed you cannot order take out before 8pm due to the show being held and it being busy. No doubt this was policy and not the bartender's decision, the patron said Well what if i order it take one f-ing bite and then take it home. She went on to do this and it was an extremely awkward interaction to say the least. Follow that up with a couple at the bar that looked like a man in his late 50's dining with what looked to be a prostitute, to say they did not look like the typical pairing would be the understatement of the year. Two of my friends and I selected this restaurant as there really are not other viable options before the show we were attending at 8pm and all of us agreed Chickie and Pete's is overpriced sodium loaded slop, and we didn't even check to see the wait as we all had no interest in going there. We started with what the menu lists as "house made" chicken tenders. These were actually not bad however the sauces that came with were ranch and some other sauce that was not buffalo but quite a rather odd taste, not my fav for sure. Next up was what imo was the most interesting item on the menu, Pastrami Poutine with a fried egg, gravy, sauerkraut and onions. It was a bit fatty but lots of flavor on this dish. The gravy did taste like something that had perhaps 400% of the sodium you are allotted to have according to the food pyramid, but I do not think you care about that if you are opting for this appetizer. End verdict is I liked this app but will officially start my diet after this guilty endeavor. I did order one healthy item, five oysters, to balance out one healthy item and one unhealthy item for the night : ) Oysters were decent and came with the typical accompaniments. So, to summarize my review of this spot, if you are landlocked for time and must dine at one of the Parx casino restaurants, I can understand you coming here. As always people SYOY!!!

Was visiting the Parx casino and came here for dinner. Huge place with a full bar and an entrance to the beer garden. Service was great and very friendly. Food was very good as well. The rotisserie chicken hot and honey was delicious. The wings were great. No one left hungry or thirsty!

We went for a celebrity dinner in the Parx Casino. Four courses, each paired with a beer from Victory brewing. First course was smoked mozzarella and ricotta fritters over tomato sauce. They were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Could have been seasoned better in my opinion. Next course was Orecchiette in a cream sauce with Italian sausage, rosemary and parmigian. The pasta was aldente and the sauce was cheesy and rich. The third course was chicken schnitzel with a frisee salad. The schnitzel was cooked nicely, it was crisp but was also underseasoned. The dessert was a butterscotch budino. It was a creamy custard with a crushed pretzel topping. If was the best part of the meal. Not sure I would do a celebrity meal there again. We didn't feel like it lived up to the billing.

3.5 Started off with the cheesesteak dumplings. They had a good flavor but were slightly overcooked. The fried chicken was finger licking good. Crispy crunchy breading with tender chicken inside. The mash potatoes were creamy and wonderful. The cheeseburger was cooked to order and also had a good flavor. The roast beef sandwich was on the dry side, could have had more meat to balance out the size of the roll The grilled chicken BLT looked good. Lots of thinly sliced chicken with thick slices of bacon. The service was extremely slow. We only had 15 minutes to eat our meal before our show started despite having gotten to the restaurant 90 minutes prior to the show starting. The manager did come over to apologize and took off our drinks while also offering dessert if we wanted to return after the show.

My boyfriend and I always enjoy sitting at the bar because the bartenders are so attentive. They also offer weekly specials that are both satisfying and delicious. Plus, the restaurant has a really attractive aesthetic. It's inside of the Parx Casino.

With the help of Yelp, we found this place. First off, the building that houses National Mechanics is absolutely beautiful inside and out, and for good reason. The pub/restaurant occupies the old Mechanics National Bank, a majestic Greek Revival building, built in 1836. Inside the restaurant, the surroundings contrasted greatly with the outside. The large, primarily wooden interior has the feel of a vintage pub. It is equally as beautiful as the front. The service at National Mechanics was great. Though the staff was clearly running shorthanded, every employee we came into contact with served us with a smile and couldn't be friendlier. The food, at least on that day, was mediocre at best, unfortunately. While the menu was filled with all sorts of tempting dishes that already made us thinking of future visits, we opted for the Mexican Burger and the Ribeye Cheesesteak, two twists on old pub standbys. Sadly, we were both disappointed in our meals. We did start off on a bright spot, food-wise. My friend and I opted to share the Batter-Fried Pickled Green Beans, which were fabulous! Too bad the good food ended there... The description of the Mexican Burger sounded amazing, with avocado, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños, Monterrey Jack cheese, and chipotle mayo. My friend said it was kind of bland and it was quite greasy. My ribeye cheesesteak did not match well with its "Amoroso" roll and the steak itself was dry. In the end, we were both disappointed in our choice in a lunch spot. Perhaps it was the large crowd of diners and little staff that made it all come out a little...off. In the end, I'd try National Mechanics again if I were in the area, as the atmosphere and service made it a cool spot to dine in. Hopefully the food will be better next time.

We ordered a couple of types- Korean bbq and pickled something. The kids quickly noted that the pickled version wasn't saucy, tasted dry, and was flavorless compared to prior visits. They seemed to know their wings and the PJs standard to be aware something was off. I mentioned to the server and she indicated that corporate HQ changed the sauciness of the wings and they weren't that way anymore unless requested. The kids were taken back by this and noted it's the sauce that makes them good, and that these were dry and flavorless. I had to agree as a new customer to PJs that they were flavorless and comparable to a natural wing. We all thought the boneless Korean bbq wings were decent. The restaurant is nicely situated with a mix of tables and bar area with TVs scattered throughout showing sporting events. We visited on a Saturday so college football was displayed. We left confused and wondering if the change in wings was the new norm or a one-off. The server was nice and attentive to start but never came to ask us how the food was until we were nearly done and I volunteered concerns from the group. The kids agreed this wasn't typical service of PJs either.

We were told they only had one steak left, even though three people at our table had ordered it. To make matters more confusing, shortly after telling us they were out, the table next to us was able to order steaks without any issue. The rest of my table received their meals while I was told they had somehow "lost the steak," and all of the sides we ordered were never brought out either. The food itself was pretty good once it finally arrived, but the service issues overshadowed the meal. The one bright spot was our server, who was doing an incredible job under difficult circumstances. He was taking orders for the entire restaurant while also running food with little help, and he remained friendly and professional throughout. This felt much more like a management failure than a server issue. They clearly need better staffing and organization, because one person shouldn't be expected to handle an entire restaurant alone. To their credit, they did comp our bill, which we appreciated. However, the overall experience was frustrating enough that I'm not sure I'd return...

It was finally a gorgeous Sunday morning, so we headed over for brunch on the upstairs patio. It's one of my favorite spots in the restaurant where you can have a nice view of the street, feel the breeze, and peep the herb garden on the roof deck. I chose the Hugh Spritz for my brunch cocktail which was the perfect mix of elderflower, mint, lemon, and champagne. A great start. We shared a trio of appetizers including the radicchio and peach salad, summer sausage plate (I forgot how much I love summer sausage), and fried green tomatoes which were especially lovely with fried capers. For my entree, I enjoyed the omelette with fromage blanc and jamon serano. The cheese was copious and just the right amount of tart. Went great with the ham. We topped off our meal with peach cheesecake and a new dessert caller Portokalopita - a sturdy cake made with phyllo dough - very interesting to look at and pleasant to eat. Our server, Hayley, made great recommendations for both food and drink. We always enjoy Standard Tap and feel lucky to have it as a go-to spot in our neighborhood. The dinner menu never disappoints, so looking forward to being back soon to try the new seasonal dishes.
