This place is anything but customer service oriented..... My car (Kia) need a shifter cable. The present one broke. i had the car towed into this place. The woman on the phone that I spoke to before it was towed told me that they would at the very least look at it that day. It was towed in and I was then told that it would not be looked at for at least a day or two as they were very busy. They also informed me that there would be a $260 diagnostic fee to ascertain what exactly was wrong with it. The 2nd day I called as nobody called me. They told me that they would be looking at the car that day. At the end of the day they called me and told me that it would be at least $1,400. They would know more once they got the car apart. They also told me that the labor to put in the cable was 4-5 hours. I told them not to do it. Un-be-known to them I had put clear tape in 3 places on the hood. When I got the car back the tape was still there telling me that the hood was never opened! They outright lied! The place I had it towed to charged me a total of $260 !!! And they did it the same day.... Believe it or not...this place was another Kia dealership !!!!! Bottom line is pass this place by....keep going.....don't go. read more

NEVER GO HERE FOR SERVICE! Brought my car in for an oil change. Less than 12 hours later the engine had a failed cylinder. The theory is, according to a better Kia service site, is the tech ran the engine after he forgot to fill it back with oil. The woman at the service counter was nice as pie when I originally picked up my care. She was an evil witch when I called the next day to say there was now something wrong with the vehicle. She kept telling me they couldn't look at the car for a month, even though it took less than a day to schedule for an oil change. This was my first clue that they knew the tech did something wrong and they were trying to sweep it under the rug. You know the company is shady when they fill out their own customer questionnaires. Luckily I have a friend that works for Kia corporate and I have passed on this dealer's shady tactics to him. read more

I was likewise anxious about meeting the finance person - they tend to be worse than the salespeople - but Bernadette politely informed my about the different extended warranty options and, when I declined, let the matter drop. I went to Liberty Kia to show my partner a Telluride I wanted to buy. We requested a test drive. I explained that I had driven the car but would like my partner to drive it. I assume that all dealerships know customers will shop for the best price and service agreements they can get. When the salesman sensed I was in the negotiate mode, he informed me he didn't have the trim I was interested in. I asked if we could see another trim. He then explained that unless I were interested in purchasing a car, we would not be able to drive it. I accepted that and asked if we could see the car. He said yes. We briefly discussed the price. He never gave me an approximate cost of the car but instead calculated monthly costs minus taxes and additional charges. Next, he took me to the parking lot to look at some locked Tellurides, but he never opened a door so we could see the inside. We said thank you and left the dealership. If this is the purchase experience, I can imagine the service department. Thank you to Liberty Kia for showing me the difference between a good and lousy dealership. If I have to pay a little more, it's worth it for a decent experience. The previous dealership was informative, polite, and eager to help me. When I decide to purchase the vehicle, I know where I will do it. I wish I could give Liberty Kia zero stars. read more

We bought a Forte and a Sorento from this location and previously I rated this dealership 5 stars. 2 weeks ago Julie and I went to purchase a certified vehicle. The haggling went back and forth for awhile, and we were only a few dollars apart on the negotiation. When Tony presented his "final offer", we told him we would think about it, overnight. Tony said the deal was only good for right now, so we walked. I still believe this is the greatest Kia dealership within driving distance, but when someone gives me a NOW OR NEVER SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE ultimatum, he loses me. Because of this transaction, we went from being a Kia family to a Nissan family. Sorry we couldn't get on the same page, because I love my Sorento, but I don't see any future purchases. One of the most friendliest non pressured experiences I have ever had. We walked in and was greeted by Anthony, the sales manager. He was outgoing , funny and pleasant. We were then presented to Jeff Sanchez the salesperson who was bright, helpful and knew exactly what we wanted. We felt no pressure at all the whole time we were there. We were treated with respect. 30 Seconds after leaving the dealership my front hood flew up broke off the hinges and smashed into the windshield. The front hood had not been fastened properly. I KNOW IT WORKED JUST FINE ADDING WASHER FLUID ON MY OWN THE WEEK BEFORE. 1st. lie. We met with the dealership who promised us they would clean up the existing scratches, polish and buff the car as well as repair the damages to the hood, hinges and windshield. Also, replace the battery which was the reason the guy who washed the car was in there in the first place. 2nd lie. NONE OF THIS WAS DONE. Except as they service manager Joe said to me "We fixed the damages"! I had spoken with a lawyer previous to them assuring me the car would be taken care of. He said "Well they are going to fix what's wrong". 3rd lie. There is undue emotional stress having your hood fly into your windshield. Someone could have been killed along with myself. THIS WAS NEGLIGENCE. The service department promised my husband and myself things they never followed through on. THEY LIED. I will never purchase another Kia from them. I am in the market for a new car but certainly not one of theirs. I can't trust a group that lies. The car was returned to me with the old battery, paint scratches, unwashed and certainly not cleaned. Also the radio did not work due to a bad fuse and the tire sensors where on. I'm so glad I went to Liberty Kia in Ramsey, NJ to buy my Kia Sorento. I had originally wanted a smaller vehicle, but after working with Tony Catalano and his Sales Mgr Dave, I ended up getting the Sorento at a price that was right for me. The Sorento is a bigger model, with a third row of seats, and is also equipped with a few things I really wanted, like the panorama sunroof. Tony walked me around the lot to look for a certified pre-owned vehicle. I liked the way he put aside time to spend with me and helped me look around the lot. It was Tony who spied the Sorento, it had just come into the lot that day and needed to be cleaned up. I expressed that I wanted to see it and test drive it anyway, and Tony was with me when I took it for a drive. I loved it! That very day, the Service Mgr, Jim Kenny, put it into the shop to clean it up and check it out. Jim was able to ensure that the car was totally up to snuff for me, and a few days later, I came back to finalize the deal. The car was beautiful! While it was Certified Pre-Owned, it certainly looked and smelled new! Jim and his team did an awesome job, and I look forward to working with Jim and his team again in the future for any service needs. That day, Tony sat with me in the car and showed me all the features -- WOW! He did a great job of explaining everything in the car and even shared some stories of some past Sorentos that he owned personally. Tony, while professional, made it personal and it felt great to buy this car from him. He was a great help to me that day, and he's there for me still if I should have any questions. This goes back a while but it is still sticking in my craw. I got a fantastic deal from them. Finance guy was not as classy though. He kept offering me all kinds of add ones. From undercoatings, extended warranties to toll booth insurance I kept declining. He even tried to be slick and entered something on the contract thinking I may overlook it. He low-balled us on our Fico scores, my wife and I, and we ended up accepting a not so nice loan offer since we intended to pay the loan off within a week or two. Came back within a week to have a vibration looked at. It's was diagnosed accurately and fixed, kudos service dept. Liberty promises to wash your car after any service and so they did and it was immaculate, kudos to the detailers. Now the shabby part that earns them one star in my opinion. The loan for 5 years was paid off in about two weeks. We came back for the first free oil change a couple of months later. First off I notice that there is a different team of service writers up front. When I asked about what kind of oil they planned to use they were a bit on the snotty side. What really set me off was how our car came back from being "washed"; in a pig sty maybe. Dark graphite color car with smears and swirls all over it. It looked like it was wiped with a dirty shop rag. I ask the service writer what the hell is this. She starts apologizing how it's a holiday weekend and they're shorthanded and sorry sorry I'll take it back. It comes back not much removed from the first state it was in. Next door to Liberty Kia there's a car wash. Never put it right. Needless to say I've not returned there since. I can only surmise that this is some kind of retaliation brought about by the finance dept for having paid the loan off early. read more

First, very nice salesman---courteous, etc. But we were bullied by the finance guy into getting the $1000 wheel protection, which later we realized is ridiculously marked up and probably unnecessary. The next day, we called to cancel, and were told it wouldn't be a problem to get our $1000 back. Seven months later (right, SEVEN months---almost enough time to gestate a human baby), we just received the check, after numerous phone calls to the dealer and then to KIA finance. We'd already paid off the financing. What would they have charged us, if we'd been seven months late on a payment? Infuriating. And they did not, at any point, offer anything to compensate for our time and trouble (free oil change for life?). Very disappointed in what started as a pleasant experience. read more

We had the opportunity to work with Tony and we were lucky to do so. My husband, who researches endlessly can go in knowing more than the dealer representative, but Tony worked with us and helped us build the car we wanted, we appreciated that he was honest based on how long it would take for our Telluride to come in, and that he didn't try to pressure us into getting the car that was in the next shipment. He even remembered details from the last time we met. We went to another Kia dealer in Fair Lawn and we were so disgusted with the service we walked out. Tony even cared enough to go over the different options of who's name the car should be in, for us newlyweds! He didn't give me the impression that he was trying to "get me", and he wasn't aggressive. I called Tony Catalano regarding a used VW Atlas they just received. It was difficult to find the specific car I was looking for so I put a deposit down right away. Tony made everything very easy for us. He took all my calls over the two days until I could come in. When I got into the dealership, he expedited the process. I was in and out in under two hours. Salesperson: Dudley Manager: Dave Months after leasing a car I get a call that I still owe money on my previous lease which Dudley said they would handle. I called Ramsey to speak to Dudley and he said, "I'll get back to you on that, not sure how this mistake could have happened". Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I waited almost a week to hear back. I didn't want to wait anymore and followed up again. At this point I was still thinking this was just an oversight. No big deal we will just get it figured out and everyone walks away happy. We spoke on the phone and he still had not looked into the situation (almost a week later) and he said he would deal with it right away. He EVENTUALLY came back with an email stating that there was nothing he could do about it and "we'll never get to the bottom of what was said or not said". Meanwhile there were a total of 4 people involved that day. 2 members of my family, Dudley and myself. 3 of us remember talking about the remaining payment and shaking on it, while Dudley states he just can't remember and there is no supporting documentation to prove it was even mentioned. In his e-mail he writes "My team can't do much, but I'm willing to pay you $50 out of my own pocket to put towards the remaining bill. Let me know if it's easier for you to pick it up or have it sent using a source like Venmo". This sounds like an admission of guilt but why should I pay the rest when we had a deal? I explained this to Dave the manager he said he would pull the documents from there offsite location. When Dave called me back and basically said there is no proof. At this point I am at fault of getting upset and reminded him again I was not alone, and we all remember discussing this. At this point he called me a liar and hung up the phone (he is supposed to be the manager). I did go back to Dudley to tell him to Venmo the money and he came back and said "Sorry, that offer is off the table" because I got his manager involved. Not only am I now responsible for the payoff amount of my previous lease but it has accrued late payments which I am expected to pay as well. I WAS happy with everything until this happened. read more

We had such a wonderful and painless experience leasing our new Telluride. Anthony Catalano took us for a test drive that was a real test drive...not a 5 minute now you know how it drives. We agreed upon a price, signed some papers, and then had to wait for it to be delivered. It came a week early, yippee, and we met with Bernadette, who is wonderful, by the way, to go over and sign the final documents. Everything was as agreed upon! We only added the rim/tire protection....the total cost might be a little more than one 20" tire. When all was signed, Anthony took us out to go over all the bells and whistles...and there are many.
