The driver side door lock on my 2000 Tacoma has been slowly but surely failing and needed attention. I removed it and took the locking mechanism to Liberty this past Saturday July 11th. Justin attended me and after assessing my lock asked me if i would leave it with him so he could tinker with it. I asked how long it would take and he said maybe an hour or so. I decided to kill time and grabbed a bite to eat and about 45 minutes after i left I received a call saying my lock was fixed. Ok so we had our door resurfaced and re varnished. Had the Baldwin fancy lock removed and replaced. Little did we know it was not put back together so good. The locking mechanism wasn't perfect. We called Liberty Lock and Key. To my surprise we were able to book that same day. Joseph was the technician. He was kind and very experienced. He was informative and told me spot on the lock was expensive and we should consider other options. That was a real answer and he came up with a better solution. A dead bolt. Having to call Liberty for lockout service already resulted in a budget-busting expense, so Jay being persistent in trying to sell me additional products/services whether I wanted/needed them or not only made me feel taken advantage of, instead of him acting in my best interest. Instead of just replacing the defective deadbolt, Jay proposed that all four locking hardware on my security door and front door be supposedly upgraded with "pick-proof" ones from a Kwikset combo pack. I considered pick-resistant deadbolts in the past but declined to get any because the one(s) recommended were too expensive, $100 each or considerably more. Therefore, to be charged $155 each for the deadbolts/doorknobs installed seemed reasonable, especially if each is a major upgrade for about $100. Then Jay tried to charge me $195 each instead but backed down after I reminded him of his original quote, so I asked him to put all his quotes in writing because he seemed to be trying to sneak in price increases. It turns out that the combo pack consisted of four basic-quality Kwikset hardware, not higher-tier ones as I was led to believe, and seems comparable to what retails for just $62.47 at Home Depot. I didn't want to replace especially the two doorknobs because I just installed the Defiant on the security door earlier this summer and really loved it, and I wasn't even locking the non-functioning doorknob on my front door. What kind of economic sense does it make to pay $155 to supposedly upgrade from my $15.47 Defiant doorknob to a $20 Kwikset doorknob? I actually prefer the Defiant because it seems more robust, is better ergonomically, and was installed more solidly. And despite my declining it, Jay claims to have rekeyed all four locking hardware, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever, and seems to have charged me anyway for this unwanted service. All four hardware come keyed exactly alike and ready to install right out of the $62.47 combo pack. (I called Kwikset to verify this.) Assuming all four components were keyed differently, what did Jay do with all the other keys? Discard them? If he had given them and the included SmartKey reset tool to me, I would have been able to take advantage of Kwikset's DIY quick-rekey feature, in case I ever decide to use it. But since he didn't, the Kwiksets may as well not have this feature. Jay trying to charge me considerably more than the $65 service charge quoted by the dispatcher is another example of him seemingly constantly trying to increase the bill. Finally, I notice that a reviewer was charged $160 for her lockout service three months ago and she thought it was a little excessive for work that took only "two seconds" to accomplish. Now I am wondering if I was charged $250 for my own lockout service because it took about four minutes instead of two seconds. The pricing seems to be whatever Liberty thinks it can get away with charging. Jay defends everything he did as acceptable business practice. Many others would likely disagree, as indicated by many unhappy reviewers expressing regret for having done business with Liberty. If you found out that your auto-repair shop similarly installed just $62.47 worth of non-premium parts not so difficult or time-consuming for even non-professionals to install and charged you $620 for what the service advisor misled you to believe was a major upgrade, wouldn't you think that the repair shop is dishonest? July 8th, 2024 while I was at my Cardiologists Office getting the bad news that 80% of my Carotid Artery was blocked, not to do anything STRESSFUL until my accelerated surgery date or I could have a STROKE, my truck was being broken into and thieves ripped out my ignition in a failed attempt to steal my truck. I called LVMPD... FOR 3 HOURS they never answered the phone, nor responded. I called my insurance company, they took 3 weeks to respond with an abbreviated settlement. I live 54 miles outside of Las Vegas and had nobody else to call, so I called LIBERTY LOCK & KEY and they sent over a technician within an hour. The ignition was so mangled the tech had to fabricate a temporary cylinder so I could drive my truck home where I could work on the other damage. Three weeks later I contacted LIBERTY LOCK & KEY and told them about the temporary fix and they said bring the truck to them and they would configure me an entirely knew ignition lock, WHICH THEY DID! They charged me for the original mobile visit, but because they were upgrading a temporary fix, there was NO CHARGE for the final Custom REPAIR! EVERYTHING IS BACK TO LIKE NEW CONDITION!!!! I'm a little baffled at how this company justifies their tactics. No you did not do me a favor. I looked up the safe and it was online much cheaper. You guys installed it, it stopped working minutes after you left. I called back and actually was spoken to aggressively until you came back and it was broke after I had to argue with the car salesmen guy you sent out. One, the safe he promised to take and left it in my hallway. That's a big deal. When I called him he claimed he couldn't get it like he thought. Next, the safe was reparable. If I could give zero, I would. I called this company because for thirty years I used Liberty Lock and Key. I was quoted $54 for the service call and $25 per lock. When the locksmith came here, he said it would be $50 per lock and $20 for the service call. I called the office and they then quoted me $48 per lock and the $54 service call. I had five locks but decided not to do the one in the laundry room leading to the garage because instead of $179 I expected to pay, I had to pay $198 for three locks ($48 per lock and the $54 service fee). The young Hispanic person who came here was very rude and obnoxious once I didn't want to do all five locks. Moreover, he wanted the payment before I could try whether the keys would work now. I had to call the office a third time to first be able to try the key before giving this arrogant person $198 in cash. I will never ever use Liberty Lock and Key again and will tell all my friends and acquaintances to stay away from this company!!! read more

Called this place after my keys was stolen from me when working at a casino property, they quoted me $220 to get a new set of cut key and programming and have a guy here less then half hour. When arrival the gentleman was professional on greeting, he did his job and explained to me that he had to get me another set of key fob because the one he had was having "issues" and would get me new ones the next day. I asked him will the new keys be cut and fob program and he explain to me that it would cost extra to cut the keys and programmed and I explain to him that the lady over the phone already had a verbal agreement for $220 with everything so he proceeds to tell me he can't do it and calls his office and tells them not to go with that price and to charge me extra!! Rip-off!!! Very high priced !!! Not trustworthy!!! I locked myself out and called this company to have someone to unlock my door. The technician came and told me the lock could not be picked because it is a security lock. He drilled out one hole in the lock and the door was opened. I asked for the invoice and he charged me $214.00. The next day I called several locksmiths to get estimates for emergency service calls. They all told me that the price I paid was outrageous.
