Been with LM for 20 years since we purchased our first home. Our policy included our homes, cars, and in the works for life insurance. Unfortunately I had to make a very difficult and stressful decision to cancel and seek another insurance company. We added my son and his vehicle to our policy and it was taking too long to get his policy "approved"?? After several phone calls to the 1-800 number, I was told that the "approval" is pending on the "backend"? wuh?? I'm so confused! Waited a week and called back and was told they don't show anything in their records of me adding my son and his vehicle to our policy, I have no choice but to find coverage for his vehicle else where, as I didn't have any energy to deal with this. Additionally, there was bad weather that caused damages to our roof as well as to the homes in our general neighborhood. My neighbors were approved with their insurance company after filing a claim for their roof, but not ours. We were denied, they also sent a forensic to investigate the roof damage. The claim process was quick and the Adjuster was friendly to work with, it was very disappointing to had been denied, made me feel like we have home insurance for nothing. Their office at Pali Momi no longer exists!! Went there today because I received a letter saying I had to turn in my auto insurance cards or face being taken to court and sued. There is another business there and they said Liberty Mutual used to be there but don't where they moved. I changed insurance companies because Liberty Mutual raised my auto insurance premiums. I found a company that gave me comparable rate/coverage and condo insurance that costs less than their auto insurance alone!! read more

I have been with them for my auto insurance for over 40 years now and my home owners and hurricane insurance for over 30 years. They cancelled my hurricane insurance while I was on a trip unbeknownst to me. I tried calling them and was told that I had to wait 24 to 72 hours for them to call me back. Two weeks later I finally received a call but the call went to voicemail. Trying to call them back but now and on hold for almost an hour and I am exhausted just trying to speak to someone. I am considering moving to a company that cares enough to return calls and have someone available to assist. Oh, and when I inquired with another company for a quote on my car insurance, they quoted me a price that is over half less than what I am paying. And they have someone who I can speak to so am moving my auto for now and most likely my homeowners. I've been loyal to them but they don't care about me and adding stress to my life. read more

Liberty Mutual asking me for photos "behind the drywall" when there's no drywall on the ceiling. Uninformed clown. They want me to further damage my home to get photos with no guarantee they will even approve my claim. Refused to send an agent to look at the damages in person. What are you paid for? I rate my experience a "zero". After 10 calls between July and September with mainland agents, I got nowhere because there was no followup that was promised. Finally the last agent told me Liberty Mutual had no interest in helping me maintain my homeowner's policy after 40 years. The agent asked if he could cancel my policy immediately and suggested that I find another insurance company. I obliged him and went with State Farm. I plan to complain to the insurance commissioner's office to see if I can get a response or explanation for these terrible experience. read more

My dad has been a client for 30 years. Always grumble when his policy increased every year. Still, he was a loyal client. Unfortunately, he passed on, leaving his house in his trust. Home overflowed. All flooring was damaged. Mitigators came in to clean up and dry. Claim was submitted. LM's claim adjuster was awesome and helped every which way possible. When his insurance came up for renewal, brother had called to increase coverage for dwelling and to let them know of dads passing. Because house is now in the trust, it had to be put in the trust and trust papers were needed for the change. Unfortunately, policy was lapse due to the many things happening at the house, mitigators, floor contractors, removal of all household goods, etc. I called to pay. Policy was nowhere to be found. Because of non payment, policy was cancelled. I tried to do a new policy under my dads trust, but it went back to the old policy as being cancelled. It's so sad that this happened. But everything is ok. Another insurance company got our business. Our home policy is also with LM, but I am now looking elsewhere for home insurance. read more

If you have a home owners policy through Liberty you will find that they hide the real insurance you are buying. The real insurance value is 35% higher than it appears on their policy. This hides from the regulators the true cost of insurance underwritten on their books. This means if the replacement value of your house is $600,000 its REALLY $900,000. But the 35% is not obvious and if you ask for the standard disclosure docs they ask if you are an attorney. You must get a copy of the full contract and read about the 35%. In the end it works in your favor but if you don't know about it then they will stick with their policy face amount ($600,000). Another reason for the hidden value is that if you have hurricane insurance (it will be with Zephyr) they transfer only the face amount of your policy to Zephyr. If you try and speak to Zephyr to get the amount raised they say you must go through Liberty. Liberty's call center does not handle Hawaii property. They have to write an e-mail to their "CPC" center and they say they will cal you in 24-48n hours. First, they don't call in that time frame and second they use an 800 number that comes up spam on your iphone. There is no resolution to this. read more

Its apparent that Liberty Mutual does the minimum required of them to not get sued over a breached contract of service. I have never experienced a larger headache than the one associated with filing a claim with Liberty Mutual. I would rather bang my head against my water damaged wall until I died from the blunt force trauma than to deal with filing another claim with this company. The only people who seem to care about their job in this company are the sales people and the subrogation agents. All of the adjusters are either severely overworked or just don't give a crap about your claim. Find another insurance company to protect your home. read more

Liberty Mutual's quality of service has greatly declined. We absolutely hate them and are looking to switch insurance companies. Our hurricane policy doesn't get paid on time EVERY year. And we r so stupid to have put up with that for as long as we have! Poor poor poor service! They wouldn't even help us when we put in a claim for roof damage. For every little fender bender and even represented me on a major suit filed against me for a vehicle that I owned that was involved in an accident in New York City driven by an uninsured acquaintance of mine. They don't even deserve one star! A few years ago, my wife and I discovered mold growing under our stairway storage closet.  We called Liberty Mutual to come an assess the situation.  They sent someone over and they told us that they would not cover any costs because the mold was there for more than 14 days.  This is totally ridiculous as who checks every nook and cranny of their entire house for damages every week!  No one does this.  Liberty Mutual collected our premiums for 20+ years with no problem, but when we needed them to cover the damage to our house, they turned their backs on us and refused to pay out. What good is an insurance company for, if they won't cover your damages in your most desperate time of need? This company is basically comprised of crooks who take your premiums month after month but have no intention of coming to your rescue when you need them. Shame on you Liberty Mutual!  I expected you to be there for my family but you turned your backs on us!  I am wary of all insurance companies at this point.  You can bet I'll spread the word out on your company and try to save other people from giving you their business.  You don't deserve people's business PERIOD! I've had Liberty Mutual since we purchased our home in 2015. The home insurance is escrow'd in so I didn't pay much attention to what the yearly rates were until this past year. Also, I really didn't know what rates should be for my house as it was our first home purchase. my wife's car insurance (Geico, who owns L.M.) was getting expensive so she called to discuss the rates. They lowered her rates about 20/mo but we felt it could be lower. This prompted me to call my agent and have him shop for me for my wife's car as well as home insurance, which was through L.M. my agent immediately was flabbergasted by the rate of my home insurance. He came back to me and for slightly better coverage, it was over 2k a year cheaper! yes, you read that right, 2k a year. I've had this insurance for almost 9 years, so I have potentially overpaid almost 18k since owning this home. I will NEVER get insurance through L.M. or their parent company, Geico ever again. read more

Please know that I have been with Liberty Mutual (LM) for over ten years as a loyal customer. My yearly premium was really good. And when small things came up, my coverage took care of those matters (towing, battery boost, etc.). However, last year I was in a very bad accident, and my experience with LM was shot to hell. --Premium-- When I transferred the car insurance from my old car to the new one, I was told by two individuals from LM that my premium would not go up because the accident was not my fault. What a relief! The woman who transferred my policy even told me that I would be paying the same amount for the same coverage for my car. Again, what a relief! But wait! When the paperwork actually came in, it was the same amount, but my coverage was not the same. I was shocked. I made the necessary corrections on the document only to learn that I would be paying less. And submitted the documents (initialed and signed). But wait! I would get a call telling me that my premium was going up. Believe me the costs kept going higher and higher. I was being lied to by one customer service agent after another. I would get the documentation, make corrections, and resubmit (initialed and signed). But another person would call and say, "Oh no..." And the costs would go up again! Finally, everything was settled until... Wait! I got my renewal premium. The cost went up again! I was shocked and have been reaching out to LM to deal with this matter to no avail. Believe me I am not giving up. If you do business with them, keep notes on the name of the person helping you (I forgot to do this). Because this has become a nightmare! --Accident Medical-- Please do not get me wrong, I am very grateful that LM is covering everything. However, there have been some nightmares. One of their mainland adjusters screwed up on one of the bills and denied my acupuncturist his payment. Believe me, I had the best acupuncturist you could find and I made sure he got paid! I asked to have her removed from my case, however LM would not accommodate this request. Then I learned from one of the doctors I was seeing that the medical representative told him, "Oh I am going to approve 12 sessions." I was shocked. What was her background in medicine? Specifically this particular field? Did she have a PhD? MD? What? How could she make such an statement? I ended up going way over 12 sessions. I told my doctor to submit ALL of his claims and I would make sure that he would get paid. And believe me, he did get paid. Fortunately, I did not have to make a call or send a letter. However, the medical representative is able to tell you what is good for you. Be ware... --Closed?-- I recently learned that they just closed by case. II had no letter, nothing. No letter of intent. I did not know at all. And I am still seeing my PT and physician about issues related to the accident. I realize I was away and busy, but I did not realize that they were this unethical in their actions. At the moment, I am contesting this. - - - - - - - - - Lessons learned.... If you are going to go with Liberty Mutual.... (a) I learned that LM does not have their clients best interest in mind, thus you have to really be on them like white on rice! (b) Yes, they are inexpensive and offer some great plans and products. (c) Yes, they do a great job dealing with the small stuff. (d) If you get into a major accident, you have to be on them like white on rice. Their unethical practices mean extra work for you, but believe me I took my eye off of them for one month and now I'm regretting that. (d) Finally, document! Document! DOCUMENT! Even if it means sending in constant emails not just to the medical representative, claims manager, or the presidential service team, DOCUMENT! read more

One star just because I need it to write this review, if I had a choice I would give zero stars!! I have been with Liberty Mutual for 11 years for auto insurance. I was referred to them by my parents who also have Liberty Mutual and have had them for many more years than I. I thought that they would give me the best price that they could so I never checked into other auto insurance rates. I loyalty paid in full every year whatever they said I owed. I recently got a new car and called them to add this car on. The price that they told me that they would charge me was unreal!! I didn't mean to but when I heard that I would be charged $3,300 for a 2017 impala for full coverage.... WTF are you kidding me, was the first thing that came out of my mouth. I stated that I have been with them for years and pay in full yearly and if they were certain that this was the price. They said YES, but the person I spoke to said that she would check into getting me a lower rate and get back to me. She never did. I had to call them to get any response. They gave me a lower rate of about $2600. WTF!! Needless to say, I called around and found a great insurance company that would give me better full coverage for more than 50% off of the price of liberty Mutual!! Only a fool would not take this offer!! I was a loyal customer, no questions asked but now I'm done! Can't believe they would do me like that and how bad their customer service is!! We just got us a new family car and I was referred to Alex. Guys, she is really wonderful!!! I called her on the weekend and at night time to see if she could help us get insurance so we could get our car... within 20 minutes she had everything done for us. Every question I had she answered it right away and gave us a really good price. I've been a customer of Liberty Mutual for 10 years with no claims. My premiums are on auto pay and never been late. Just received my new policy and my premium increased by 400%! I called hoping it was a mistake but I was told the increase was due to a speeding ticket. My first speeding ticket in 10 years and they increase my premium 400%. Signed up with Geico and saved $600 from my last year's premium and $5,000 from the new premiums. read more

Whether it's contacting the mainland or working with this local branch, the service is always exceptional. Can't imagine changing insurers, I have both auto and renters coverage through LM and the prices are extremely competitive - in my case, much cheaper (for way more coverage) than others. Not very helpful that "Lead Agent" in the Aiea Office. If you are working with them online, or by phone - don't. My Lead agent in Aiea still does not know or have a record of my car information after I paid for full coverage of the same vehicle last year. My current insurance does not expire for another month. However, prior to it expiring, I requested to renew my coverage for the next year-for the same vehicle. My "lead agent" wants all my for the same car - again. Really? Try another company. Here is an update to my situation. Finally after going back and forth with the manager of the adjuster for weeks, and having to call State Farm insurance to have their adjusters reports sent to Liberty Mutual. Liberty Mutual finally accepted they will cover our HOA deductible and some of our living expenses, but it was like pulling teeth. The moral of the story is, don't stop calling and insisting they cover your claim, because if you don't they will close your case and file it as completed and you won't get a dime from them. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Good luck to anyone trying to collect on a claim from Liberty Mutual. They are a large corporation and are out to show profits and make money from not having to pay out on claims obviously. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about Deborah Sumulong, my agent with Liberty Mutual. When I bought a car earlier this summer, I called Deborah, late on a Friday of a holiday weekend, to see if she could help me get all my insurance documents over to the dealer so I could drive off the lot with my vehicle. Of course, the buying process was several hours, but Deb assured me she would be on call and there for me the second the vehicle purchase happened so that she could get everything over to the dealer that I needed. While some people might be annoyed that I was detaining them from kicking off their holiday weekend activities, Deborah acted with such professionalism and grace that we were able to get things done seamlessly and expeditiously. She is great to work with, is very helpful in explaining different coverage options, and helping you arrive at what the best option might be for you. She's my "Go To" for everything insurance related. She's awesome! read more

First review ever posted on Yelp but I figured it was important enough to write. I was with Liberty Mutual for 14 years with home owners insurance. First claim I had was a water leak coming from inside a wall into the house. I had a plumber come to the house remove a small section of wall and fix the leak. The adjuster they sent looked at the wall and denied the claim. Said the leak was an old leak. Said in his report that there was rust on the pipe. No rust found on pipe, plumber confirmed. Trying to fight them for the small amount of money is not worth the time. After my deductible the payout for fixing the leak would of cost the insurance less than a grand. I canceled both my home policies with them and am disappointed in the deception of the company. The front office people are real friendly and nice. They are good at taking the money. If you use this company pray you don't ever have a claim. read more

Liberty Mutual Pali Momi has my policy, but when I got into an accident, Liberty Mutual located at 711 Kapiolani is where the adjustors are located, I found out. I can't say enough about this company. From the time I called to report my accident, till today, I've had nothing but great service. I was badly shaken when the accident occurred and they handled EVERYTHING! I didn't have to worry about a thing. They made the appointments with towing, body/fender, car rental (including pick up) and when I needed physical therapy, they made sure I got exactly what I needed and pointed me in the right directions. The people there are concerned for your well-being and it showed. I dealt with local people all along...no mainlanders who cannot even pronounce street names. These people really care. They kept on top of everything so I didn't have to worry about anything. Thanks especially to Robert and Edwina...you're the greatest!!! read more
