I just love that this place exists! It's the perfect little spot for cocktails and desserts. It's gorgeous inside with a huge parrot mural and chandelier, but also a bit dark and moody at the same time. If you are coming on a weekend you probably want to try to grab a reservation, but both times I've popped up, I've had no trouble getting seated. The server was very friendly and had plenty of recommendations. They have both cocktails and NA drinks. The cocktails are fancy and not your average, though they lean toward mainly tequila and mezcal. They also have classic cocktails available if you aren't feeling adventurous. The desserts are really fun - full of different flavors and textures. We wanted to try everything, but settled on the Toxica and Para Mi Papa. The Toxica was basically guava passion fruit sorbet, but the smear of house made strawberry chamoy gave it a fun kick and the cornflake crunch was the texture it needed. We both really enjoyed it. My favorite was the Para Mi Papa, a delicious take on carrot cake. The orange cream cheese frosting had me questioning why all carrot cake doesn't come with orange cream cheese frosting. The miso spiced ice cream gave it a little salty note that just made the whole thing sing. I was sad to be sharing this one. I've heard such great things about Libre since they opened back in mid 2023. I love the concept of a dessert-only cocktail bar! (They do actually have some savory snacks and zero-proof cocktails too.) The intersection it's located on is super happening, so it's a wonderful spot to stop after a movie or meal. Oh my god Libre was so good! I was worried that the desserts would be too mature for my palate, but the Vale La Peña was really good. The mole made the crème brulee a little spicy, and the flavor profile was so tasty. I had both mocktails and enjoyed them both, but I preferred the tropical one with mole over the more floral and aromatic one. The inside is small (I recommend making a reservation) but it's tastefully decorated. I love a good, vibrant couch paired with a beautiful wallpaper or mural and they've got it! 4.5 stars - Japanese and Mexican fusion cocktail bar. We walked in without reservations at 10:30pm, just about last call for drinks as they close at 11:30pm. If you're looking at drinks posted here, they did an almost complete menu overhaul. For drinks, we got the Sleepless in Tokyo that's like an espresso martini, the Jiyu which is very fruity and strong, and the Sangre de Dioses that is a mole milk punch that is super smooth to drink. I particularly liked the Jiyu the most and was glad that there was a lot of liquid to slowly sip and enjoy. The cocktails are mezcal forward but I'm glad they experimented the drinks with Japanese influence where they added plum wine, etc The -0.5 star was solely my expectations of the Sangre de Dioses assumed to have a nice ice decoration like the other pictures but it was just a few small ice cubes. But I wouldn't dock off a star just because the drinks are so good! Dark and mysterious vibes in here! We were seated in the middle bar area, which felt fine to me but a little squished for people with long legs. The waiter kept having to squirm through. The music is not very exciting, just like background noise. The drinks were very creative and different. The Fantasia was fruity, tangy, and a little fire to it! This is such a cute spot for drinks and dessert! Both are absolutely beautiful in each concoction that's presented. The dessert portions are large, definitely big enough for a few people to share. I'm a huge dessert lover, and even I couldn't finish one dessert myself! The ambiance is classy but casual, with small tables and a booth circling around the space. The bar is big and fun to watch them prepare the drinks and desserts. Out of the desserts we got, I especially liked the Amor de mi Vida, which was a biscoff cookie cheesecake. Staff were really friendly and even though we didn't have a reservation, they were able to help us at the community table until we got a seat. The music and vibe was a little loud and "clubby" for my liking but if that's your vibe, it's perfect! I had the Bees Knees cocktail (I don't remember the exact name) and it as pretty good. Very overpowered by Mezcal and not as balanced as I would have hoped. My partner had the nonalcoholic version and it was honestly way better. I look forward to coming back and trying the dessert and snacks. I love the texture and flavors of this dish. The cinnamon toast crunch was a fun addition. The It's Worth It was probably the most novel dessert out of what we got: mole creme brulee and bone marrow ice cream! The mole worked super well in the creme brulee. The bone marrow ice cream was savory and surprising. Gotta try it out for yourself. Lastly, the El Principio was delightful with plays of textures and layers while showcasing corn as the main ingredients. I felt like each dish was so wonderfully crafted and has their own story. Instead I can complain to Nan, Gabriella and Prae that they need to bring their EPIC knowledge of food and beverage to Beaverton!!! I'm a HUGE fan of tequila and Mezcal. And Libre does NOT disappoint. I'd have guessed as much but my heart was definitely tied to my order as I had to have the Mi Corazon. It was the perfect balance of sweet a bit tart and that smoky delicious Mezcal flavor. If you don't already know this, Nan owns Mestizo, which is hands down one of my favorite spots for food AND drinks. Prae can be found at Norah as an owner as well. Another of my favorite spots. And Gabriella is on site as an owner, hostess with the absolute mostess and that Chamoy y'all love...she makes it. That's right. She's @sweetcreaturepdx on Instagram and YES it's worth ordering!!! My husband and I came here after dinner for a dessert and some drinks. We both ordered a drink and we shared a dessert. It wasn't busy when we arrived around 8pm, but it got busier as we were there. The service was great. We were seated and they helped us figure out our order. The drinks we ordered were the Sun Ti and the Sweet Creature - they were good, but it felt like there was too much going on in terms of flavor. We both like complex drinks, and usually are big fans of ones that have multiple elements to their flavor. The way these ones hit multiple flavors should've been right up our alley, but it was just difficult to follow. I'd be really interesting in trying their take on a more classic cocktail or a zero proof drink to see if there's any difference there. The Cristilina looks really nice. For dessert, we ordered the No Me Conoces, and for taste of this delicacy alone, I would give Libre 6 stars. It was beyond amazing. I loved every bite and even stuffed myself too full so I wouldn't leave a single crumb untouched. The yuzu in the caramel and the ice cream just brightened up the banana bourbon panna cotta in a way I never imagined those flavors together. Every flavor just danced on my tongue. While the many flavors in the cocktail didn't seem to jive with me, I thought the dessert was perfection. I am sure I'll be back for dessert alone, and would give another drink a try. We sampled 4 different cocktails and we all agree they were the best of our entire foodie weekend in Portland. My friend, who lives just blocks away from 26th & Division, suggested we try out the new bar/restaurant that has taken over the cursed NE corner (since Sub Rosa left). After eating and having cocktails there, I can honestly say the curse is now lifted!! I walked in and saw my friend leaning on this elevated table in the center of the room, largely occupied by a stunning, and huge, arrangement. I saw a couple tables open, but the woman who came up to us explained that there were others waiting ahead of us. My friend and I considered going somewhere else (we had been told it might be 45 minutes), but I really wanted to try something out. I headed to the bar to order us margaritas. When I asked the bartender if I could order from him he looked around and said um....ok in the oddest way. I wasn't sure if it was because there was not a seat open at the bar, or I was breaking the rules by ordering, but he finally took our order. I got the drinks and before I'd even set Dina's down, we were told there was a table for us. That finally allowed me to look around. I noticed two things: 1. My friend and I upped the average age in the room quite a bit, and 2. The space is now STUNNING. The owners have opened it up so it feels less crowded, even with more booths. The booths are now on all walls, and are super comfortable. The chandelier!!!! Libre serves drinks, snacks and desserts only. But those desserts!!! A woman came up to take our order, and I ordered the Pince Lauro, named after Lauro Romero, the insanely talented chef who died recently. When I mentioned that, the woman helping me, who ended up being Gabriella, one of the co-founders and a dessert genius, explained that she had worked with Lauro, and he had been very close to her heart. We then asked her lots of questions about Libre, her changed to the space, and her experiences in the food industry in Portland. Gabriella spoke to us for a while, and did so with no looking around or feeling rushed. In fact, no one ever made us feel rushed, even with how busy it kept being. When my dessert came out, delivered by another person, we asked him some questions about the food and the renovations to the space. Again, we had a great conversation and learned a lot! I see a long and celebrated future for Libre, and can't wait to see more. I forgot to mention - the drinks are so fresh and delicious and the taste exceptional.
