My daughter started itching this morning and I found a lice bug and nits. I called right away and they were able to get me in in less than 2 hours. It turned out she had multiple lice and 50-80 nits. My daughter got lice (3 times!) over the holidays and in early January... we tried to treat it at home. Come the third infestation, we headed to Lice Clinics of America. We drove all the way from Oakland to Cindy and her staff. They were patient, gentle, understanding, and SO helpful. They treated us right away, gave us certifications to show school that we were lice free, and even advised us how to keep from being re-infested as we cleaned our houses... Fast forward to a few days after treatment, and me being paranoid about seeing what I thought was nits, and my daughters school telling me they saw nits and sending her home, AGAIN. I called them freaking out, and they talked me through it, offered a free check and comb out, and even called her school to explain that it was NOT nits, it was simply dandruff that was "sticking" to the treatment oil that was on her hair. (This was also confirmed by a third party Lice checking company locally here in Oakland that certified her clean, just to drive home our point!) It felt like a day out with my daughter at a salon rather than a daunting misfortune! Cindy really goes out of her way to make sure the children are at ease -- she plays Kids Bop music, gives an ipad to watch during the treatment, and has a children's play area set up with activities. She also put me as a parent at ease by thoroughly explaining the process and offered reassurance and praise to my daughter throughout the treatment. My kids got lice through normal classroom contact and we needed to get it resolved ASAP. We found this place and had a good feeling knowing that they guaranteed their work. It was also encouraging to know their method doesn't use the toxic chemicals that are contributing to the 'resistant lice' situation. The method at LCoA uses heat to kill both the eggs and the adults. That way you have a single visit and don't need multiple treatments. When my family arrived we were immediately greeted warmly by multiple staff members. They have a small children's table to keep them entertained.
