    BLT on rye
    Robin S.

Nice little cafe inside Mass MoCA. Sandwiches, salads, soups, other things. Quick service after we ordered, but there wasn't much of a rush on a Wednesday. BLT on rye not quite like others I've had in that it wasn't a huge gut buster. Good bread, good greens and the right amount of bacon. Perfect for pre-museum fuel! If you're looking for an inexpensive, quick bite, consider this cafe before you pay more at Gramercy, which is located in the building as you enter the grounds.

Food is basic selection of paninis, sandwiches, and salads. Fine in a pinch but nothing special. During lunch hour rush, they are s l o o o w... But convenient to the museum. 2.5 stars ....

The ice cream was horrible, place wasn't the cleanest. Service was ok. There are a bunch of other places I would rather go to for ice cream.

Great experience, great food. Fresh. Folks should notice how old the bad reviews are.

Just Don't. I gave it another chance. It was worse. Terrible food, rude staff, frightening lack of hygiene. keep away.

Food was fine, but the ice cream was the best I've had. Go for the art, stay for the ice cream.

Below average, below ground museum café. I could blame the architects of the new unit, who stuck…read morethis downstairs in the back with a kind of soulless seating floor and a very awkward cafeteria-style system. But the food direction is also odd, with an order-with-numbers system where you have to wait for it if you're going outside to eat (which requires schlepping your food up some massive stairs and around two turns just to get to the outside area) but for which they'll deliver if you're in the dismal downstairs. It's a huge missed opportunity; the largely empty (perhaps to keep it aesthetically pleasing) spot for the bookstore/gift shop, obviously positioned on the first floor to get more traffic, is adjacent to the outside seating area and would have been a far better choice for the café. The counter service was a strange mix of hovering and inattentive. As for the food, it's a theoretically nice set of high-end salads with no hot options (the hot stuff we ordered was just tepid), but is thrown together, given ingredients and pricing. The salmon-spinach salad, for example, was just baby spinach with sort of indifferent slices of salmon (not chopped for better coverage for flavor) tucked at random inside; the caesar salad was about as plain as you could imagine, and the special "Buddha Bowl", which a tasty original, was a pretty small portion for double digit pricing. It's adequate but it's not the kind of café to make you say "oh, let's meet for lunch at the Clark!", and without good inside seating that takes advantage of the beautiful view, adjacent to that view, it's just a quick refueling stop.

The museum itself opens at 10am, while the cafe opens at 11am…read more So if you are a fan of muji style cafe and Tadao Ando Architecture, you better get there around 11am, or you will have to starve yourself. The food itself is not bad but a bit pricey, got the chicken meatball veggy soup with a heated roll, very tasty indeed. While my boyfriend got the special honey mustard ham, cheese croissant. It is overpriced but I dont mind eating under the roof of Ando.

In Bennington randomly for a doctor's appointment with my son. Reached for Yelp to guide us for a…read morebrunch-time sandwich - this led us here. Outside looked like a furniture/nicknack store. Typical "I love VT" t shirts and stuffies in the window, $400 syrup, and artsy cards and candles etc. Making our way to the back was a small nook of seats and tables and a breakfast/sandwich/bagel menu. To say we were skeptical was an understatement. My son ordered a Southwestern steak and egg sandwich on a rainbow bagel. I had a dill pickle chicken salad sandwich on an everything bagel. Add in a coffee, a hot chocolate, two cans of Diet Coke (and a small cheesecake round for my son) and we were all set. Menu was way more reasonably priced than we expected. Average bagel sandwich (which they fill amply) was roughly $10. All of the fillings were very good. Well seasoned. Creative. Again, exceeded our initial expectations. Even the bagels were surprisingly good. Please note I grew up in NJ so a bagel is essentially unattainable to me north of the Tappanzee Bridge. I was expecting "airport quality," however, it was not half bad. Chewy and tasty for the area. Service left me with two very distinct feelings. 1) the people were AWESOME. Friendly, attentive, seemingly happy to be at work (a rarity). But... 2) there were 6 total customers in the store (some simply reading books) and yet it took 16 minutes for our coffee and hot chocolate and roughly 30 for the sandwiches. Was so weird to experience the quiet of the store - yet the ticket time and wait of a bustling morning at a deli. Oh well. Was a pleasant place to be. Will likely find a different place next week following our upcoming appointment. But was not mad at the experience.
