MINI HOT DOGS & SAUSAGES on the menu

Exactly what you need. Lunch and dinner choices are always a hit. Fast service overall. Summer time - a little more of a wait (make sure to get ice cream). Anticipating another great season, visiting Joe (owner) and the hard working staff! Outside tables are filled with great people, welcoming locals and those vacationing the Berkshire's or just passing through on your motorcycle. Kid and dog friendly!

Went here for a birthday breakfast and SO glad we did! Not only the most delicious food and coffee ever but the owner is an absolute stand up guy. Such great service and conversation ! Will definitely be back.

In town for a ski race (Pittsfield was the 1/2 way point between) I stayed at a no tell motel and this place was within shouting distance. The ambiance is...amazing. A shellacked trout hanging over a pic of a horse (met the artist), a mini version of the leg lamp from Xmas story, more pats memorabilia then bellichecks house. And clearly the epicenter of keno (I won 70 bucks). Au ordered my usual Manhattan and the barkeep struggled a bit but made a giant fishbowl, fish not included. As I perused the menu I had to try a hot dog obviously. It was 1 of those tiny dogs that I could easily have dusted off a dozen. I had 1 and it was fantastic. Great little snappy dog w a really good meat sauce and a soft roll. The regular menu looked good and the specials menu was special! Lots of steaks and meats. I asked about the clam chowder. She said hard pass so French onion. Tasty. Then I got a black diamond sirloin which is some sorta teriyaki induced syrup I remembered from my childhood. Cooked a bit over mid rare and not the next cut of meat but for the price, tres bien. Got a baked and creamed fucking corn! Which was really really really good. This place isn't getting 4 stars for the food. Or the atmosphere. Of the bartender. Or the keno. But combined this place is 4 stars worthy. Don't miss it. Go here now.

Onion Rings (10/10): These are actually perfect onion rings. Don't know how it could get better than this. Perfectly crispy, and the onion bites cleanly through. Fries (5/10): Fries, on the other hand, were average. Everything on the menu is really cheap. I feel like the burgers are the best deal. The hot dogs are worth trying, though. You must order the onion rings!

Initial impression can be a bit dodgy because it's super old and worn, but it really grows on you. Tiny menu but perfect for a quick old-school snack of burgers/dogs/fries. And the hard working staff is super welcoming. I usually sit right next to the door that opens/closes nonstop but I never mind. I always find myself saying "hi" to literally every stranger that walks in. It just ooozes with that increasingly rare "locals only" vibe I love so much. After half an hour sitting at the counter I start to feel like and honorary local. It reminds me of the Tasty in Harvard square I used to hang out at late night. And the total lack of posturing is a welcome and refreshing change from the fine dining world I tend to gravitate toward. A hot lunch for under $10 - WINNING! Pickup a big "Jacks hotdogs" sticker for your car- they're super cool!

That responsibility is important, and I respect anyone who takes it seriously. What I cannot overlook is the complete lack of professionalism with which the situation was handled. Before I even had the opportunity to place an order, I was immediately judged and spoken to in a condescending and dismissive manner, despite simply waiting my turn and allowing other patrons to order before me as a courtesy. There was no respectful conversation, no attempt to handle the situation tactfully, and no basic level of customer service. Regardless of the decision that was made, every customer deserves to be treated with respect. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I left feeling embarrassed by the unnecessary attitude and the way the interaction was handled in front of others. There is a significant difference between responsible alcohol service and treating patrons with courtesy. This establishment failed to demonstrate the latter. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend a business that chooses to address customers with disrespect rather than professionalism.

My office is about 1/4 mile from their usual location and while I don't eat lunch out very often, I've never had a bad experience at Pippy's. I am posting for my first time about this food truck today because readers need to know about the Purple Rain Hot Dog. They start with a toasted roll and an all beef local hot dog topped with mustard. Then the star of the show is added, an amazing spicy Purple Kraut that mixes sweet with a surprising heat that will have you sweating. It's a bit messy to eat in the car but this is by far my favorite so far. Menu isn't super extensive but they have several varieties of specialty dogs as well as tacos, vegan offering and salads. Heather is a friendly face and there is a guy that works the Palenville site as well who is also great. They have a picnic table if you want to sit and relax while you eat or to go orders are available as well. Pricing is a bit higher than a basic hot dog truck but well worth it for the quality of the products, the flavor, the service and the finished product. They are located at the intersection of Route 23A and 32A with plenty of parking.

It being July 4th, Independence Day, I thought it would be an appropriate day to enjoy a hot dog. Just ask Joey Chestnut! I'm not going to reduce my # of *s because we really enjoyed our food and beverages. But I do have to question what I had to drink. The board said it was an Ommegang Grande Tripel stout at 5.5 ABV ($9). That level of ABV would be reasonable for a stout, but the color of the brew was golden like a typical Tripel, and not dark like the typical Stout. The bartender gave us a sample, and it was full of flavor with my wife noticing the vanilla tones that were described by the bartender. I didn't initially identify any specific flavor other than delicious and different than I would have expected from a stout. I also would not take issue with the posted 5.5 ABV. HOWEVER, a quick reference to Ommegang online as I write this says that it is a Belgium Tripel and the ABV is 9. Yes, NINE ABV! I would definitely have noticed if I were drinking a 9 ABV on an empty stomach. I also would have noticed it driving the car after finishing a pint within one hour. For those familiar with Utah Phillips, "It was good though!" But on to the food. We ordered a shareable Tot-Chos ($12.99) consisting of tater tots, tomatoes, avocado, cheese sauce, pickled jalapeños, and chipotle aioli. These were very tasty and not too spicy, with crispy on the outside and soft on the inside tots. My wife ordered the Sooo Cali ($10.99) hot dog. The black angus beef hot dog is very tasty even before it is topped with wild arugula, tomato, avocado, crispy onion strings, and spicy basil aioli. The combined flavors work well together on the Kings Hawaiian rolls. My choice was to try the Hogfather ($10.99) - a pork bratwurst with bacon chipotle onion jam, chipotle aioli, and miso ranch. The bratwurst was delicious and again, the flavors worked well together. BTW, my wife had a Grimm Nothing But Citra ($8), an IPA that even I found acceptable. We really need to return here more frequently.
